THE ABOMINATION IN THE TEMPLE: COMING TO A MASS NEAR YOU

The word "affair" is radioactive. The mere mention of it can open old wounds or start a mortally sinful chain reaction of imaginings. The use of it in the context of an unsolicited testimony in front of families as it happened at Mass this morning is not just an abhorrent abuse of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, it is  also a brutal rape of the fragile sensibilities of the unsuspecting hearers.

A family in attendance may well have spent many years healing from the wounds of an infidelity, crawling out of the pit of despair, still bleeding, still trying to heal, seeking to restore their lives in Christ in their commitment to the Eucharist...and then there's THIS guy, throwing around the word like its a badge, stabbing people at random with its mere mention.

Another couple, having marital problems, hears the word "affair" and a temptation that one or both of them have been fighting off through frequent confession, reception of the eucharist, and the avoidance of dangerous thoughts and the "near occasion of sin" is suddenly jolted into an imaginative reaction that rips the soul, sucks the heart dry of moral courage faster than the juice can be sucked out of Fr. Edivaldo's orange girls, and sends the psyche into a fit that quickly spirals into hell.

And all the while, standing, waiting for the priest's final blessing, with the Eucharistic Lord still present within them.

Talk about the abomination in the temple. And all at the direction of Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, Ofm. Cap. D.D.

AND THESE PEOPLE LECTURE US ON OBEDIENCE?

This is a response to the report that a member of the Neocatechumenal Way was invited to give a testimony and announce a catechesis today at St. Joseph's Church in Inarajan at the 7:30AM Mass.

The commenter noted that the testimony occurred after the final blessing. If that is the case, this is still an abuse. So long as the priest is in the sanctuary we are still considered "at Mass", and the people are still bound to remain until he has left. Thus, if the testimony occurred after the final blessing and before the priest left the sanctuary, this is an abuse of both the Mass and the congregation.

Another commenter noted that the testimony occurred after the Prayer after Communion and before the final blessing - which is most probably the case. It is still an abuse.

Redemptoris Sacramentum states that such an announcement or testimony by a lay person can be given only for "serious reasons". When used in an authoritative papal statement such as Redemptoris Sacramentum, the words "serious reasons" are not to be taken lightly. Yet these NCW testimonies and invitations are routinely inserted during the Mass, a clear violation of St. John Paul II's instruction in Redemptoris Sacramentum. And these people lecture us on OBEDIENCE?
REDEMPTIONIS SACRAMENTUM [74.] If the need arises for the gathered faithful to be given instruction or testimony by a layperson in a Church concerning the Christian life, it is altogether preferable that this be done outside Mass. Nevertheless, for serious reasons it is permissible that this type of instruction or testimony be given after the Priest has proclaimed the Prayer after Communion. This should not become a regular practice, however. Furthermore, these instructions and testimony should not be of such a nature that they could be confused with the homily,[156] nor is it permissible to dispense with the homily on their account.
On Sunday, February 9, 2014, Archbishop Apuron did not even wait until the Prayer after Communion, but personally invited the Neo-member to testify as part of his homily.

SEX TALK AT MASS. DETAILS AT THE CATECHESIS.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "1,000,000":

Good morning

I am a parishioner of St. Joseph church and at the 730am mass after the final blessing a gentleman approached the altar asking the congregation to join their catechesis. He was boasting about how he had affairs, abused drugs and alcohol and strayed from the mother church until he found his way!!

During this time all you hear was whispering amongst the parishioners, some of them even walked out.

They passed out flyers at the end which said they they will be holding their catechesis starting Sept. 1 Mondays and Fridays and FREE BABYSITTING SERVICES!!

This is a outrage! STAY OUT OF OUR CHURCH, St. JOSEPH Parishioners WE NEED TO START A PETITION!

1,000,000

It  happened just about midnight. Well we now know that the counter doesn't reset to zero. New goal: that this is over by 1,500,000.  Also a small thank you for the recent donations. Good night.

TODAY'S PACIFIC DAILY NEWS

Archbishop speaks on Benavente firing

Archbishop Anthony Apuron on Thursday, during a Mass at Father Duenas Memorial School, spoke publicly about his decision to fire Monsignor James Benavente, saying he didn't fire Benavente "to be mean."

http://www.guampdn.com/article/20140830/NEWS01/308300003/Archbishop-speaks-Benavente-firing

IN THE NAME OF POPE FRANCIS

We need to examine further what Archbishop Apuron said at the beginning of his remarks to the students of Father Duenas High School. Keep in mind that the students are standing, waiting for the final blessing at the end of Mass as he launches into the full speech that we have already detailed.

At the beginning of his remarks he says:

...the issue was that he had an alleged sex offender working in the parish (___) then as a volunteer, and he saw nothing wrong with that. In the meantime, because there’s a school next door that had children and there’s always a danger that they can be at risk.

We have dealt with this on several occasions, and it is fully detailed and documented in my book, Target equals Priest, which you can access in the right sidebar. But let's review the basics.

ESPERANSA PROJECT: VOTERS GUIDE FOR PRIMARY ELECTION

The Esperansa Project normally puts out a voters guide for each election based on the candidates' positions on abortion. The Esperansa Project will have a more thorough guide for the general election. For now, the Esperansa Project can only advise on who NOT to vote for based on Bill 195's voting sheet. BILL 195-32 mandated normal medical care for children who survive a failed abortion. A YES vote on the bill means PROVIDE NORMAL MEDICAL CARE to the child. A NO vote means LET THE CHILD DIE.

Also, if any candidate would like to express their positions on this issue, you are free to do so in the comments below.

CHUCK WHITE GETS CALLED "DONKEY PUSSY" BY SPANISH NEOCAT!!!

The name of LUIS L. CARINO has shown up several times in defense of the Neocatechumenal Way in the comments of pro-neo letters published in the Guam Pacific Daily News. In the end he puts up quite an example of how to defend Archbishop Apuron and witness to the the great good of the Neocatechumenal Way. ENJOY!

P.S. Maybe the "donkey pussy" comment will help us get to ONE MILLION over the weekend :)

COMMENTS ON ARCHBISHOP APURON'S COMMENTS TO THE FD STUDENTS

It's hard to know where to begin, but let's try.

...the issue was that he had an alleged sex offender working in the parish (___) then as a volunteer, and he saw nothing wrong with that. [The "issue was" that Archbishop Apuron incardinated and protected an alleged sex offender (Fr. John Wadeson) for over a decade and saw nothing wrong with that!] In the meantime, because there’s a school next door that had children and there’s always a danger that they can be at risk. [It is time for Mr. Lastimoza to sue this bishop for his continued public plastering him as a threat to children. He was not nor has he ever been.] So that was really what the case is about. And, so, please continue to pray for him. [So after defaming and slandering both Fr. Paul and Mr. Lastimoza AGAIN, the Archbishop calls on the students to pray for them.] And I’m really waiting for what’s now over a year, because it was July 16 of last year that that issue came to the forefront and it decided to go viral. ["It" decided to go viral.]

THIS IS SO TRAGIC

This is so tragic on so many levels, I can't even begin to comment, though I soon will. But just imagine, saying these things to our children AND AT MASS!

Cathedral may face penalties if pay checks withheld

A MEMO dated Aug. 4 from the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica’s new rector to cathedral employees advised against reporting confidential information and said payroll checks from earlier that week would not be released until employees acknowledged the confidentiality notice.
Withholding earned salary, however, is against Guam labor laws, according to Department of Labor Director Manny Cruz. “It’s a violation. He cannot withhold it because you already earned it,” Cruz said. “He has to release that.”

  1. Tim, this is Jonathan Diaz. It is my understanding that Rome has been contacted concerning an incident of a former seminarian of our Archdiocese for a sexual assault by our Ordinary in the 1980's at St. JOSEPH'S College, in Moutainview, CA. I encourage all seminarians past, priest or not, to please contact Rome about this incident vis a vi Our Nuncio. We had several of them and I believe That there are substantial people who can vouch for this and is not gossip. This is fact because as a Catholic Sexual Abuse Survivor on this island of Guam, who is very much still a Catholic, I firmly believe with all my heart, mind and spirit that Apuron must be defrocked! It is time to move Rome with not only our prayers, but with actions. I am kindly asking people to not receive Holy Communion from Apuron until things get resolved. He cannot be allowed to stomp all over us because these scandals are scandals, not gossip! And if they continue to use the pulpit for politicking, just know that they will be challenged by me and everyone else who have the right to know where our money is going! We are not dumb sheep anymore!

I AM A FORMER NEOCAT

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "REPLIES ON DR. EUSEBIO'S LETTER IN TODAY'S PDN":

I am a former neocat and the claim of 1,000 is laughable. Whenever all of the neos get together, I estimate about 500-600, and many have dropped out, or walking off and on. Kids take up a significant portion. The fanatical core constitutes about 200, including archbishop Apuron , Monsignor David, and Fr. Adrian, and their catechist Fr. Pius. This is why a few disproportionally wields enormous and unholy influence over Guam. Fr. Pius wields enormous power and influence over the archbishop, who is just another member to the neocats. When there is a problem or an issue within the neo or outside the neo, Fr. Pius is asked first, not the archbishop. In fact, the archbishop, Monsignor David, and Fr. Adrian all defer to Fr. Pius. I know that Fr. Pius(and his boss Giuseppe) were instrumental in getting Fr. Paul fired, Monsignor James fired, the assignment of which pastors, and other decisions regarding the governance of the archdiocese. They certainly got the archbishop to incardinate Fr. John Wadeson here quickly and without notice, knowing of his alleged sexual abuse past, but he was a neo priest and he had important assignments to attend so they overlook it. How do I know? I know, and when Fr. Pius reads this, he knows who I am. :)

REPLIES ON DR. EUSEBIO'S LETTER IN TODAY'S PDN

Popes have promulgated the Way
http://www.guampdn.com/article/20140827/OPINION02/308270013/Popes-promulgated-Way

Tim Rohr ·  Top Commenter · Hagatna
Sorry, Ric. The "popes" have not "promulgated the way". Apparently you do not understand the use of the term. ONE pope, Pope Benedict, promulgated the Statute of the Neocatechumenal Way. The Statute is a rule imposed on your group outside of which you have no approval. You are outside of that Statute because you continue to sit to consume the consecrated bread which is NOWHERE permitted in the Statute. In matters of the liturgy, unless an exception is explicitly permitted, the neocatechumens are bound to follow the liturgical books. You do not. You have simply to show where this practice is permitted and there would be no basis to oppose you. Stop with the name dropping and the trumped up facts and simply answer the question. The only defense offered so far is that you are getting away with it. Our Church, at least the one I belong to, doesn't operate that way. Now for the folks who will read this, watch the personal attacks on me. Anything but answer the question.

  • Maria Baza · World History Teacher at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School
Hello, Mr. Rohr. As stated in the article, you are invited to petition or make inquiry to Cardinal Cañizares, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, as to whether we are going against Rome's instructions in the liturgy. He is the supreme authority of these matters as designated by the Pope. Thank you.

  • Tim Rohr ·  Top Commenter · Hagatna
Maria Baza Hello Maria, the reason the Statute was promulgated was so that there would be no more need to ask such questions. With the promulgation of the NCW's Statute in 2008, the rules relative to the parameters of the NCW's celebration of the eucharist were imposed. The Church expects you to follow the Statute and not disobey it.

In a another comment of yours on a previous article, you clearly stated that you do in fact sit to consume. You then gave as your "permission" to do so: the Pontifical Council for the Laity knows about it. Sorry, but that's like a man saying "my wife know's I cheat on her but it's okay because she hasn't stopped me."

In February of 2014, in the letter from Cardinal Becciu, referenced by Dr. Eusebio in this article, Kiko Arguello was once again reminded that the Statute is his "regulatory charter of reference". The Pope did not refer Kiko to Cardinal Canizares, as you do here. There was no need. The Pope referred Kiko to his Statute outside of which there is no license for the NCW to operate.

From the beginning both Kiko Arguello and Archbishop Apuron rejected the direction to conform the distribution of Holy Communion to the liturgical books. The only exceptions permitted in the NCW Statute is to receive under both kinds and to remain in one's place STANDING to receive. As you have explained, while you stand to receive, you sit to consume, and consume only after all have received. There is no permission to do this as you have already stated, admitting only that Rome hasn't stopped you from doing so.

You may not think that this violation of the Statute matters, and you may not be blamed for thinking so. But your leaders know better.

SINS THAT CRY TO HEAVEN

"The catechetical tradition also recalls that there are "sins that cry to heaven": the blood of Abel, The sin of the Sodomites, The cry of the people oppressed in Egypt, The cry of the foreigner,  the widow, and the orphan, injustice to the wage earner." - Catechism of the Catholic Church, par. 1867

"Behold, the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.  James 5:4

"All payroll checks issued for the pay period ending on Saturday, August 1, 2014, shall not be released until the Employee has acknowledged notification of this policy…”  - Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron & Msgr. David C. Quitugua

I WANNA BE RICH, OH YEAH, I WANNA BE RICH!

“All payroll checks issued for the pay period ending on Saturday, August 1, 2014, shall not be released until the Employee has acknowledged notification of this policy…” (Letter to Cathedral Employees, August 4, 2014)

Hmmm, Msgr. David and Archbishop Apuron, you both signed this. Did you run this past your legal counsel first? Withholding pay already earned unless the employee signs this? You can do this as a condition of employment BUT NOT AS A CONDITION OF RECEIVING PAY ALREADY EARNED!!!

Cathedral employees, former or otherwise, if you were forced to sign this to receive your paycheck, you may have already qualified for a much bigger paycheck. See your attorneys. And don't forget me...the "evil businessman"! LOL!

NOW THAT WE KNOW WHO DIANA IS...

...(and who I always thought "he" was), perhaps now would be a good time to revisit this post from last December:

FEWER FATHER FLANAGAN'S

http://www.junglewatch.info/2013/12/fewer-father-flanagans.html?

Here's a pull quote:
In fact, as most teen psychologists know, the male mind (especially the teen male mind) is sexually driven by imagery, actual or virtual. The image of sucking the juice out of a girl until she is "dry" is radically pornographic. It burns the male brain, provoking the very psycho-hormonic reaction that the priest supposedly was warning against. As a male, I can assure you that Satan entered the mind of many a young man at that moment.

TIME TO LEAVE THE CHILDREN TO THEMSELVES

Entertaining the Kiko comments over this past year has been quite an adventure. They certainly have proven to be the "life" of this blog and they have provided us more evidence of the true "fruit" of Kiko's Way (not to mention all the page views, thank you) than we could have ever produced ourselves.

However, lately, I have found this little exercise - entertaining the kiko's - immensely boring, and taking up otherwise valuable time. In addition, I have begun to feel a tinge of guilt in responding to them since it has become increasingly obvious that they are just children.

I haven't decided definitively yet, but I am inclined to just deposit all further childishness into the spam folder. And that also goes for commenters on our side who bring comments from little Diana's blog over here. I know they're funny, and often unbelievably so. But really. These are children and we are grown ups. We really should leave them alone in their sad little sand box. Let someone else change their diapers.

YOU NEED TO START WALKING OUT

Received as a comment:

At the 6PM Saturday parish vigil at Barrigada, a parishioner attending mass said that Fr. Adrian, in his homily, said that if you are against the Archbishop, then you are against Jesus Christ. The family wanted to walk out, upset that the pulpit being used to further divide the community.

Note: Start recording every homily.

APPARENTLY A "HATE" BISHOP

INSIDE THE CURIA

I understand that Pius is making the rounds to the "communities" putting out fires, er, I mean answering questions. Hmmm. What questions could those be? Do you think it might have something to do with our extremely well-documented exposition of their liturgical and statutory violations?

We've been exposing them all along, but at nearly a half million page views in just over a month, obviously there are a lot more people that are learning about them. Thus the Pius-scramble.

You can expect Pius, his neo-priests and catechists, to use the same tired line that they have special permission from Rome. They know that they won't be asked by any of their poor legions to actually produce a document, so they'll figure they're safe and they probably are.

ON THE DEPARTURE OF THE CATHEDRAL EMPLOYEES

There has been some speculation about the circumstances surrounding the departures of the former employees of the Cathedral-Basilica and the Catholic Cemeteries.

I do not have any first hand information and I do not know if they were forced to leave or left voluntarily.

I do know that after the vile and violent way in which their boss was treated by the Archbishop and his Vicar General, that no self-respecting person would have wanted to stay in their positions, especially since it would be the same Vicar General who would be their new boss.

HEY ERNIE! WHERE'S BERT? LOL!!

I used to call these people cowards. They're not even that. They are clowns. Thanks for making my job easy, Ernie, Ernie the Clown.

WHY IT MATTERS

By Tim Rohr

There is no denying the tumult which eventually follows in the wake of the introduction of the Neocatechumenal Way into a region. What is happening on Guam is just another chapter, and a short one at that, compared to the long string of clashes that have plagued dioceses and parishes around the world.

Neocatechumenals will always point to their fruits to validate their Way. But they are the same fruits that almost any other religion will claim. In fact, Guam's non-Catholic churches are filled with former Catholics who will speak of having found God, of coming to know the Bible for the first time, and of how their marriages were saved, how their families were bettered, how they were able to overcome addictions, and how they would be dead now if not for their new faith, etc.

So the NCW is not unique in that regard. But if the NCW is producing all this good, then why the long and growing tumult, the never ending clashes with authority, the social implosion, and eventually the threats which you have seen on this blog. The host of an Italian blog which has also chosen to challenge the NCW wrote to me not long ago expressing amazement that I would identify myself in this debate. She explained that in Italy they literally fear for their lives, and that there have been physical altercations - which is something I am now beginning to understand.

OOPS! DIANA, DIANA :(

  1. The archbishop sell his Vegas house and give the money to the poor is the biggest joke of the day. Thanks Diana, I needed that laugh. The archbishop screwd his Sablan family out of their property in Harmon and other places. How do I know you ask. I am a Sablan and VERY related to the archbishop. He is greedy and the Sainas of the family know it all to well. He doesn't know what poverty is. You should see the archbishops house in adacao paid for by the scams he pulled on his own blood. So there the truth is out. Have at it NCW defend his actions, I dare you. See you uncle Tony at the family reunion.

The Archbishop was making his school visit yesterday and he told the students "don't believe what you hear and read on blogs."  The parent said that many parents and teachers were upset that he would say those things to the students. They said that everyone, especially the students, were so uncomfortable with the Archbishop's presence yesterday.

Tim Rohr, you are getting a famous religious fundamentalist warrior, who thinks God is talking from his mouth. Do you like, don't you?

Tim, let me remind you that what you said about a girl named Candise Nacole M. Lizama is simply unforgivable. Did you completely lose your moral sense? We all see you feel proud about it. What a shame!

Are you completely blinded by your fundamentalist fury? You are so conceited you assume you may hurt and maul anyone, anytime, by your own wish. No, Tim, you cannot do that as nobody on earth can. You play God but meantime you lose your soul.

Why do you choose to be a person of zero integrity and zero moral values? You would better stop talking altogether for the benefit of your own comrades. Because you hurt them as you hurt everyone. The least thing you should do is to apologize to Candise. Right now. Are you man enough do this, Tim?

Otherwise you will become a zealot pariah with zero bearing on any matter of moral or ethical consequences. You know it, right? So be a man!

THE MISSING UMATUNA OF AUGUST 10

As we now know, the first printing of the August 10 edition of the U Matuna, was frantically retrieved and destroyed soon after it was made available for pickup around 4:PM, Friday, August 8. We were told in a subsequent news story in the U Matuna the following week that the reason for the scramble to retrieve the first printing and print a second was "because of errors in the original print edition." Lies would be more like it. Lies the chancery thought they could (AGAIN) get away with.

Let's review the timeline:

July 31: The archbishop releases a statement to the media along with a seven month old letter from an accounting firm detailing the accounting problems at the Catholic Cemeteries. The archbishop's letter alleges financial mismanagement and is a response to the public outrage over his ambush firing of Msgr. James.

It is not the fault of most members of the Neocatechumenal Way that they are participating in an illicit communion rite. However, it IS the fault of their leadership. That same leadership likes to trumpet the approval of the popes. So, relative to the NCW manner of distributing Holy Communion, here is what the "popes" have actually said:

12/01/05 - Pope Benedict, via the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, directs the leadership of the Neocatechumenal Way to conform its manner of distributing Holy Communion to the liturgical books:
"On the manner of receiving Holy Communion, a period of transition (not exceeding two years) is granted to the Neocatechumenal Way to pass from the widespread manner of receiving Holy Communion in its communities (seated, with a cloth-covered table placed at the center of the church instead of the dedicated altar in the sanctuary) to the normal way in which the entire Church receives Holy Communion. This means that the Neocatechumenal Way must begin to adopt the manner of distributing the Body and Blood of Christ that is provided in the liturgical books." - Congregatio de Cultu Divino et Disciplina Sacramentorum. Prot. 2520/03/L. From Vatican City, December 1, 2005. To the esteemed Mr. Kiko ArgĂĽello, Ms. Carmen Hernandez, and Rev. Father Mario Pezzi.

01/12/06 - Pope Benedict personally confirms that the above instruction was "imparted to you in my name" and that he expected the NCW to "attentively observe these norms...provided for in the liturgical books approved by the Church":
Precisely to help the Neocatechumenal Way to render even more effective its evangelizing action in communion with all the People of God, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments recently imparted to you in my name certain norms concerning the Eucharistic Celebration, after the trial period that the Servant of God John Paul II conceded. I am sure you will attentively observe these norms that reflect what is provided for in the liturgical books approved by the Church. ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI TO MEMBERS OF THE NEOCATECHUMENAL WAY. Paul VI Audience Hall. Thursday, 12 January 2006
01/20/12 - Pope Benedict clarifies that he is approving ONLY those "celebrations listed in the Catechetical Directory of the Neocatechumenal Way" that are NOT "strictly speaking liturgical", but are those celebrations which are particular to Neocatechumenal Way:
"The Decree approving the celebrations listed in the “Catechetical Directory of the Neocatechumenal Way” has just been read. They are not strictly speaking liturgical but are part of the itinerary of growth in faith."
The pope uses careful language here but to make sure it is understood that he is NOT approving the liturgical anomalies practiced by the NCW in its celebration of the Eucharist, he emphasizes that the Eucharistic celebration continues to be "regulated by the liturgical books that must be faithfully followed, with the details approved in the Statute of the Way":
"It is the task of the celebration in the small communities — regulated by the liturgical books that must be faithfully followed, with the details approved in the Statue of the Way." ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI TO THE COMMUNITY OF THE NEOCATECHUMENAL WAY. Paul VI Hall. Friday, 20 January 2012
NOTE: Those details, as found in Art. 13 of the Statute of the Way are as follows:
  1. Communicants may remain in their place to receive communion STANDING (there is no permission to sit to consume or for the priest to delay his communion).
  2. Communion may be received under both species.
  3. The Sign of Peace may be moved to before the Offertory.
04/03/2014 - Pope Francis reminds Kiko Arguello that the Sunday Eucharist is regulated by the Statute of the Neocatechumenal Way. He makes no mention of any other document permitting any addition or variance to the regulation of the liturgy as found in the Statute:
"...as far as it pertains to the celebrations of the Paschal Vigil and the Sunday Eucharist, mentioned by you, articles 12 and 13, read in their entirety, constitute therefore the regulatory charter of reference."   - Archbishop Angelo Becciu's Letter to Kiko Arguello. Vatican, April 3rd, 2014.
