AB HON, YOUR PRESS JUNKET HAS NOT BEEN FOR NAUGHT

Posted by Jose Martinez

Congratulations and sincere thanks to AB Hon.  Every week we have been given opportunity after opportunity to remain in front of the cathedral and picket, this week was no exception.  It's almost like he didn't want us to disperse just yet.

Oh sure, some of our former AB's survivors being on island to support Bill 326-33 should be cause enough, but with the press junket he undertook this week, well, that was more than what was necessary.

In a gesture of gratitude for a gesture of words, we took to the picket line again.

CCOG STEPS FORWARD TO DO AB HON'S JOB

Posted by Robert Klitzkie, aka Bob

Finally after being served with summons and complaint filed by Roy, Doris, Walter and Roland in which Apostolic Administrator Hon himself was named, AB Hon went on a media blitz, holding a press conference, doing the talk show circuit and even taking up a the whole front page and most of page 3 of he Umatuna Si Yu'os,
Ad appearing in the PDN
Hon wants us to know that he is NOW very concerned about Roy, Doris, Walter and Roland and others who have suffered similar fates and have not yet come forward.

FOR EVERYONE SAYING TO STOP BICKERING AND GET ALONG...

(Posted by Glaucon Jr)

When I was a boy, I watched my dad beat the hell out of my mom at least three days a week until I was old enough to do chores, and then he gladly included me in the beatings and trips to the hospitals for my "clumsiness."

Riddle me this, Batman: if someone--anyone--walked in and saw that, would he have said, "Stop bickering and put this hard feeling behind you?"

When I was sent to the States during the summer before 8th grade to stay with my uncle, I was covered on my back and buttocks with bruises that were in the shape of the belt buckle (since dear old dad used that end to hit me for getting a B).

When my uncle saw it, what did he say? Was it "we need reconciliation in this family?"

No one ever said anything. And so it continued until I was old enough to fight back, not just physically but emotionally. No relatives, nothing. Because we don't talk about it. It upsets things. But while you're keeping the peace, the most defenseless bleed.

And that's the point, good people. I appreciate your wanting peace and harmony, but brutality isn't a joke. It's not something to gloss over.

My dad apologized later, and it took time not only to forgive, but for him to accept forgiveness. None of it comes easily or cheaply.

So stop with your groanings about how the demand for justice disturbs your delicacy. You insult the victims, and quite honestly you diminish the contrition of those who work to make amends.

This is the substance of working out one's salvation. Don't trivialize it with the Gospel According to Hallmark.

HON’S CALCULATED STUPIDITY

I(Posted by Glaucon Jr)

Calculated stupidity. I know that sounds like a contradiction in terms, but with Ab Hon, it somehow seems to fit. As Forrest Gump says, "Stupid is as stupid does."

In light of his being included in the lawsuit of the victims of Apuron/Edivaldo/Tenorio, Hon finally got around to acknowledging that there are indeed grievances against our child-loving archbishop and his goon squad up on the Hill. These are grievances for rape, molestation, defamation, and threats of excommunication—not just complaints that upset the herd (or in this case, flock).

Well, imagine that. Grievances from real-live victims. And in preparation for those victims of Apuron who have not yet come forward, Hon in all his Curial brilliance appointed a Capuchin to be the go-to man for the Archdiocese. But given that Apuron is a Capuchin, appointing another Capuchin as the liaison for victims is like expecting people to report a police chief's corruption to his secretary.

NEW CCOG PREXY IS OUR EARS ON HON

Created by Robert Klitzkie, aka Bob.

AB Hon who at one time wouldn't even give Walter Denton the time of day, now apparently has talkitis--a press conference, radio and newspaper interviews, on-and-on. It's funny how being served with a summon and complaint bearing his name so suddenly caused a metamorphosis from no-talk to talkitis!

But an increase in quantity was not matched by an improvement in quality.  It's still all Hon Doublespeak.

Today Hon took to the airwaves of the Chancery's own radio station, KOLG to be interviewed by the Chancery's equivalent of Mike Wallace, Tony Diaz, that is. Fortunately for us newly elected CCOG President Dave Sablan was listening in to Tony's hard-hitting interview.  Dave put together a summary of the interview and included his well taken comments in red:

GET OUT OF OUR WAY

Posted by Tim Rohr

Sadly, Fr. Paul thinks this is about him. It is not. I engaged this battle to fight Apuron’s rabid abuse of episcopal power which he has used to damage countless souls over three decades. Fr. Paul was just the latest and most high profile victim at the time. Because while clergy like Fr. Paul waited around for the Holy Spirit to "come" and called for peace and patience, Apuron (as per Champ Quinata and Walter’s testimony) was pinning 9 year old boys to his bed, ramming their rectums and leaving them for dead. So now that Fr. Paul has his little pardon, the rest of you need to sit down and shut up. Yes, so more little boys can be destroyed by the clerical obeisance that has been the fertilizer for  this “filth in the church.” It’s not about you, Fr. Paul. Get over yourself.

AND HON SMILES

Posted by Tim Rohr

As you have seen from my activity in the news, Tim Rohr has not "gone away." And while I have turned over the administration of this blog to others and opened it up to some wonderful authors, I will still use it when necessary. And today it is necessary.

Archbishop Hon is apparently on a media blitz. Unfortunately, it appears we can trust him no more than Apuron and Adrian.

KUAM: "The archdiocese owns that property. No doubt of it. And then there's a certain ambiguity who has the right to use it. And on this matter, I'm going to have a review of it," Archbishop Hon stated.

Archbishop Hon KNOWS this is NOT true. In January of 2015, Richard Untalan and Joseph Rivera, who were both fired by Apuron from his finance council for opposing the transfer of the property, met personally with Hon and explained that the recently discovered Declaration of Deed Restriction, recorded at Land Management on November 22, 2011, conveyed title to the property to RMS, a corporation wholly separate from the Archdiocese of Agana and controlled ultimately by the Board of Guarantors which itself is 75% controlled by the two Gennarini's and Angelo Poschetti, the Neocatechumenal Responsible Team for the United States.

In May of 2015, a copy of the Legal Opinion by real estate attorney Jacques Bronze, was forwarded to Hon's office. The Legal Opinion demonstrated in great detail that the document executed by Apuron and recorded at Land Management: “operates to transfer a present interest and is an absolute conveyance in fee simple, of the subject real property to RMHF, divesting all right, title and interest of the subject property from the Grantor, except for the subject restraint in use.”

Hon is publicly misleading Guam's Catholics and we must believe, given that Hon was advised as just stated, that he is doing this purposely.

Sadly, all of this would have been legally cleared in court had the Attorney General NOT intervened in the legal process required by law by "working something out" with "the trained lawyer."

After Msgr. David C. Quitugua, on November 29, 2015, published in the Umatuna a false copy of the certificate of title to the property previously obtained from Land Management by Attorney Jacqueline T. Terlaje (aka "the trained lawyer"), Attorney Robert Klitzkie directly engaged the Director of Land Management, Michael Borja about the false certificate.

Borja agreed that the certificate published by Msgr. David C. Quitugua in the Umatuna was in error and initially set out to take corrective action prescribed by law which would have required the issue to be brought before the Superior Court. However, Borja soon aborted that prescription and defaulted to something being "worked out" between Deputy Attorney General, Kristin Finney and Attorney Jacqueline T. Terlaje.

This route not only kept the matter from going before the court where the truth would have been revealed about the title, but it was a shameful abuse of the law by those elected and appointed to uphold it. The whole ugly story can be found in this series of posts

Let's look at some of Hon's other "misleading" statements in this interview:

KUAM: Hon tells KUAM News he continues to reach out to the alleged victims.

Hon has NOT called a single one of them. And if he really was sincere about this, he would have at least invited Roland Sondia to his July 27 press conference. Roland lives on Guam and works right across the street at the PDN. But Hon did not invite Roland nor did he "reach out" to any of them by phone, letter, email, whatever. Perhaps he thinks that because he appointed Fr. Pat Castro to be a liaison to the victims, whatever that means, that he has "reached out." If so, then that is very telling of what kind of "priest" Hon really is.

KUAM: He also clarifies he wasn't aware he was in the presence of one of the alleged victims who was picketing outside the Hagatna Cathedral moments before Sunday morning mass. "Unfortunately at that time I did not notice the presence of Mr. Walter Denton, so I did not ignore him.

What is sad is that Denton had been all over the news media for several days before this happened. Walter should not have had to try to approach Hon on the steps of the Cathedral. He should have immediately received a call from Hon when he came forward about his being raped by Apuron several days earlier, in fact the day after Hon arrived on Guam. There was no such call, no attempt to "reach out" to Walter, leaving Walter no alternative but to try to "reach out" to Hon on the street.

KUAM: According to the $2 million dollar libel and slander suit against the archdiocese and Apuron, plaintiffs allege such statements were prepared and released by Father Edvilado Olivieras. According to Hon, there's no proof Father Edivaldo was ever appointed the church's official spokesperson.

And how would we know there is "no proof"? Are we supposed to believe the man who just told us that the Yona property belongs to the archdiocese and that he has "reached out" to the victims? The statement, though, really shows Hon's incompetence. "Proof" that Edivaldo was appointed spokesman is NOT needed. The fact that Edivaldo declared that he WAS the spokesman, and the fact that Edivaldo ACTED in that capacity, doing so on the Archbishop's letterhead, is all the "proof" Attorney David Lujan needed to include Edivaldo in the amended complaint. And if Hon is not careful, he will soon find himself a defendant.

Now here is the real "whopper!"

KUAM: Hon confirms he's met with representatives of the Concerned Catholics of Guam.

Hon did in fact "meet" with two representatives of the CCOG: Greg Perez and Robert Klitzkie. After keeping them waiting for twenty minutes past their appointment time, according to Klitzkie, Hon opened the meeting with "is there something you want to tell me?" Klitzkie read a list of concerns and per Klitzkie's report, Hon had nothing to say other than to quibble with Klitzkie's referring to Apuron's "victims" as "victims" (Hon doesn't like that word), and then to say good-bye.

Perez and Klitzkie did not ask for the appointment. Hon did. And Perez and Klitzkie agreed to meet with Hon in good faith, believing he was interested in having a discussion. Instead, Hon was only interested in checking the CCOG off his list so he could later say - as he does in this interview - that he had "met with representatives of the Concerned Catholics of Guam."

And here is another FALSE story:

Father Paul Gofigan and Monsignor James Benavente both restored

To be clear: NEITHER PRIEST WAS RESTORED, because, as you will see, neither priest will be "restored" to the positions from which they were removed. In the case of Msgr. James, it is clear what is happening:

KUAM: Monsignor Benavente said, "What Archbishop Hon did was he retracted the statements that was made about me, the malicious statements maligning my name, and he's basically retracted that. And more importantly is that he's according me the opportunity to have due process, which was never given to me.

In short, Msgr. James was NOT cleared of Apuron's charges against him which led to his being removed as rector of the Cathedral, Director of Catholic Cemeteries, and Director of the Archdiocesan Development Group. All Hon did was retract the statements Apuron later released about him to the press. In fact, Hon apparently thinks Msgr. James is still guilty because by according him "due process," he essentially is saying "Okay, I'll give you an opportunity to stand trial." Msgr. James must now defend himself to Hon, but given Hon's already demonstrated penchant for ignoring facts...well, good luck to Msgr. James.

As for Fr. Paul, unfortunately he slapped the faces of those who have stood up for him these past three years by changing the meaning of the word "restore." For those who have been standing in the streets with signs reading RESTORE, "restore" meant to restore both priests to the positions from which they were wrongly removed.

This is especially true with Fr. Paul, whose canonical rights were clearly violated by Apuron's appointment of Fr. Dan Bien as Parochial Administrator to Santa Barbara parish in July of 2013, automatically eliminating Fr. Paul from his position as pastor. Apuron's actions clearly violated canon law, as both Fr. Paul's canon lawyer later clearly outlined, and as Apuron himself de facto admitted by commencing the correct canonical process which led to the official Decree of Removal issued several months later, a decree, Hon says does not exist.

At the press conference on July 27, Fr. Paul tells us that his version of "restore" only means to "restore" his name, which Fr. Paul believes Hon did by saying that Fr. Paul engaged in no "formal" act of disobedience." Fr. Paul is welcome to accept what ever olive branch (or fig leaf) Hon wants to give him, but this remains a slap in the face to those who have labored so long in his behalf. By not restoring Fr. Paul to his position as pastor of Santa Barbara, Hon leaves in place Apuron's Decree of Removal, which while canonically confected, remains based on the act of "formal disobedience" that Hon says Fr. Paul did not commit.

Additionally, Hon's words are deceptive. His use of of the adjective "formal" is not by chance. In Catholic moral teaching there is both "formal" and "material" participation in an act. An example: The direct procurement or performance of an abortion is "formal participation in evil." Driving someone to the clinic to get an abortion is "material participation." Hon, while saying Gofigan is not guilty of "formal disobedience" is leaving in place the fact that he believes Gofigan is guilty of "material disobedience," which is why Gofigan will NOT be restored to his position as pastor of Santa Barbara. The material disobedience is Hon's view that Gofigan acted badly in publicly opposing Apuron over his mistreatment. So Hon has to punish Gofigan.

This has nothing to do now with what Fr. Paul and Msgr. James themselves are satisfied with. This has to do with the truth. For us who have labored so long in their behalf, RESTORE meant more than just the restoration to their positions, it meant the complete rejection of all that Apuron both said and did by canceling not only Apuron's words, but also his acts. Hon has retracted Apuron's words, but has left his acts in place, which is why neither priest will be "restored."

Once again, this is not about what either priest will settle for or make them happy. This is about TRUTH. And once again, as with Apuron, Quitugua, Adrian, Pius, Edivaldo and the whole smelly lot, Hon is doing as they did...albeit, with a smile.

UPDATE ON THE BACKROOM POLITICS AT THE CHANCERY, OR LEARNING HOW TO DANCE ALL OVER AGAIN.

As we have seen recently, there is a lot of jockeying around at the Chancery the last few weeks.

This a different kind of dance, and all the players have not really learned or understood the rules.

The main Choreographer is this man:
He does not look like much, his English is hard to understand, and people have a tendency to underestimate his moves.

GUAM POST EDITORIAL: APURON, ACCUSERS, NEED A DAY IN COURT

Guam Post Staff, July 28, 2016

We appreciate the efforts of the apostolic administrator, Archbishop Savio Hon Tai Fai, in resolving the issues what have disrupted the local Catholic Church. As we have stated, as a secular newspaper we do not have a position on such internal church matters as church finances, the ownership of church property– including the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Yona – the influence of the Neocatechumenal Way or the assignment of priests.

But criminal behavior, particularly when it involves victims, must be investigated and those who are guilty must be prosecuted regardless of their station in the church or any other group or organization. Criminal law is in place for the protection of the members of the community, and criminals cannot be allowed to escape prosecution because they are clergy or hold any other position of influence. A continued public hearing for legislation that would lift the statute of limitations for child sex abuse cases is set for Thursday. Last month, dozens rallied in support of Bill 326, stating "justice shouldn't have an expiration date".

Among the bill's supporters were Archbishop Anthony Apuron's alleged victims - Roy Quintanilla, Walter Denton, Roland Sondia, and Doris Concepcion on behalf of her late son, Joseph "Sonny" Quinata. The bill's author, Senator Frank Blas Jr., says a substituted version will be heard on the measure based off recommendations from the last public hearing. Some of the changes include ensuring the bill is specific to sexual abuse and not any other crimes along with preventing "frivolous suits" from being filed.

The hearing starts at 10am at the Legislature's Public Hearing Room in Hagatna.

JULY--A MONTH OF INFAMY FOR TWO PRIESTS

Posted by Webster.

On July 16 three years ago, Fr. Paul Gofigan was ignominiously fired as Pastor of Santa Barbara, to the point of being locked out from his office upon his return from his Inquisition before Apuron, David, and Adrian. Without due process, not even a shred of civility and decency, and in clear violation of Canon Law as Fr. Dacanay, his canon lawyer, so eloquently pointed out in his appeal, Fr. Paul was fired and ran out of Santa Barbara. Yes, the "painful and arduous" experience that was threatened by the Three Goons if he did not voluntarily resigned had just begun. Three years later, not a word, even a note, NADA, from Rome on his appeal. Hon promised a year and a half ago to look into it. Nothing, NADA, came out of it. Doesn't this sound like Gestapo Germany?

OUR RENEWAL: RESCUING HUMILITY FROM SHAME (PART 1)

(Posted by Glaucon Jr)

If we want to aid in the renewal of the Church on Guam, we have to deal with Kiko’s misuse of shame.

With two decades of NCW influence on Guam, his teachings have soaked in on levels most haven’t even noticed yet. Sure, the heresies themselves are in-your-face and must be combatted, but there’s the stuff that’s unsaid that Kiko and his catechists teach that prepares the ground for the seeds of such evil. To my mind, there is one core Luther-an belief that is particularly destructive: that man is evil  in everything he is and does, and Kiko himself is the way out of that evil.

VATICAN DIPLOMACY 0 - NEOCATECHUMENAL WAY 10

Posted by LaPaz, Jungle Watch correspondent from Spain.

In Europe, soccer (fútbol) is the king of sports. In Champions Leage, when the very best clubes from the continent compite among them, it is impossible to find a result like 0 vs 10. Obviously, if just the best are playing, supposedly their performance should be quite high for both.

Finding that score would mean both teams were not playing the same game. Maybe it was such a fraud, a shamble in competition. Impossible at all. Supporters would think they had been deceived, at least those who consider Champions Leage is a competition characterized by high level and prestige.

Posted by Chuck White

I was a father to the needy;
I took up the case of the stranger.
I broke the fangs of the wicked
and snatched the victims from their teeth. Job 29:16-17

Four decades ago, some men on Guam suffered terrible sexual abuse at the hands of a powerful churchman.  Read more.

COURAGE

 Courage

Be Courageous!

In our daily lives we are rarely faced with situations that call for "heroic deeds". But we are forever faced with decisions that require "judgement". Do I go this way or that way? What shirt should I wear today? Do I lie or tell the truth? Will this be good for my career? Will I regret this in the morning? On average we make hundreds of decisions per day.

FIGHTING FOR THE CHURCH

Posted by Bruce A. Williams

To all Concerned Catholics of Guam, Laity Forward Movement and JungleWatch Nation,

In the fight to protect our Catholic Church from heresy and expose the tyranny of AAA we , the faithful, need spiritual food to nourish and encourage our souls. Listen to Alice Von Hilderbrand in one of five segments of an interview with Michael Voris.

Fighting for the Church

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT HON

Posted by Webster

In a recent PDN article, Hon is quoted as saying that his "actions and decisions may be far from perfect, but are motivated jointly by solidarity, goodwill, and a profound sense of the unity of the Church".

First, let's get one thing perfectly clear. It is not "may”. Hon’s actions and decisions to date ARE far from perfect.

NOWHERE WAY

Posted by LaPaz, a JungleWatch correspondent in Madrid

The Neocatechumenal Way it is a charism for, supposedly, calling distant catholics to come back home, the catholic Church.

Of course, that charism was never inspired to make catholics leave home, the catholic Church.

Really?

As it seems by reading former members from different countries in Europe, through quite helpful blogs like Cruxsancta and Neocatecumenali, for NCW the luxury is allowed and a lot of well formed people have to face the decision of leaving the charism and, in many cases due to practical circumstances, leaving their life as catholics.

HOW TO MISHANDLE SEX ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

Posted by Webster

It is unforgivable that the Church has to be shamed and legally forced into admitting wrongdoing. This was the fate that befell the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis, and at the rate things are going in Guam, the Archdiocese of Agana is next. Archbishop Hon can avoid the same fate by doing the right thing. He has not. Read below:

SIGNS SIGNS SIGNS

Created by Robert Klitzkie

Not only do we have a sign for you for 4:30 PM today at the ITC intersection and Sunday 9 AM at the Cathedral but you have a choice!  Get there a little early and you can show your preference for Apuron's future.  You can make a statement about the "leadership" style of the Apostolic Administrator.  You also have the option of showing the world what you think about AB Hon's memo asking for more money for the seminary.  In the first comment I'm going to ask for your help concerning signs so go there and help me out!

Catholics, beware of travesty that harms the church

"Apostolic administrator (Savio) Hon (Tai Fai) is extending the annual appeal for the archdiocese through December because the collections fell far short of its $250,000 goal for 2016. Congratulations, Guam Catholics, we did well in withholding our hard-earned dollars from this money pit that calls itself a seminary!"  Read more.

I am in shock.
It is a pity that Diana is not in Guam to offer some neo-explanations.
Nevertheless, I hope this entry will reach any neocatechumenal wildlife member from Guam for a reflection about how people do see neocatechumenals from the other side.

Yesterday I received a mail with some screenshots of Facebook with a picture of Carmen Hernández in her mortise, placed in the living room at her family's home in Madrid.

I did not like that picture. For me, there are some situations in human life where cameras and pictures are left over. One is this.

HOLINESS AND THE TRADITION

(Posted by Glaucon Jr)

(A Monstrance: This is God, not a menorah)

We who write for and read JungleWatch  stand firm in our commitment to rid the poor, suffering Church of the greatest abuses by whatever means are legally and morally available to us. But no matter what anyone says, the removal of the errors and corruptions of the Catholic Faith by the NCW is not and cannot be the end-game. The removal of NCW as the dominating force in the Church on Guam is really just the end of the storm. But how will we start again to rebuild after such a long tempest?

Since we flatly reject the NCW vision of spiritual bondage, we must make clear for everyone the alternative in this war for the salvation of souls. The answer is found in the Tradition of the Faith. How this is done is where discernment is called for. But we do know what the key is: holiness.

WHEN NEOCATECHUMENALS GO TO HEAVEN

Posted by LaPaz, Jungle Watch correspondent from Spain.

Two days ago, on July 19, Kiko wrotte a letter to his followers to give them, in his own words, a "great new": Carmen Hernández has just died.

I am not going to talk about her directly.
I want to talk about Kiko's attitude through those lines.
First of all, Carmen, as cofounder of the Way, was a public person.
When a public person dies, there used to be a public press release. Kiko wrote his letter to be sent to all media, not only as a "private" letter to be read just by neocatechumenals.

MORE ON THE PUBLIC HEARING ON BILL 326-33

Posted by Robert Klitzkie

"Gerald A. TaitanoJuly 21, 2016 at 9:59 AM

I'm making it a point to attend the public hearing and give supporting testimony. It's been over a month since Hon arrived and I still have yet to see the Church reaching out to the victims. Honestly, we can't expect the Chancery to protect our Church. We have to do it ourselves. Anyone who is against Bill 326-33 is in favor of child sexual abuse."       This is Gerry's comment on:

HAPPY LIBERATION DAY!

It is kind of a bittersweet anniversary, where we celebrate the end of a brutal occupation by the Japanese Empire.
At the same time we continue to be subjected to a more devious and pernicious occupation of our churches by the Evil Empire of Kiko Arguello Wirtz.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN A SEMINARY.... (PART I)

Posted by Frenchie

You first need the will of an Archbishop to install one for the need of his diocese.

This is exactly what Apuron, told us when he started venturing into establishing a Seminary.
The original idea, as it was sold to the faithful of Guam, was that instead of sending our sons to study all the way to California, we could establish a serious institution on island, that would allow us to react more efficiently to our priestly needs.
The laity was enthusiastic about the project, which was to become the Trojan Horse of the NCW on Guam.
On the eve of the new Millenium,  right after one of the Island most respected Holy day, the Redemptory Mater Seminary was established on December 9, 1999.

This was a turn key operation, led by the NCW leader on the island: Fr Pius Sammut.

KIKO, HON, AND SACRILEGE

(Posted by Glaucon Jr)

(The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
Always United--and Obstacles of Kikoism)

A priest friend of mine in the States is one of the exorcists in his diocese, and not long ago in a conversation, I asked him about a story I’d heard that the demons are in fact TERRIFIED by the Blessed Mother. “Oh yes, “ Father said, “you wouldn’t believe the reaction. In fact, one of the practical ways you can tell a person isn’t possessed is if they blaspheme or insult the Blessed Mother. Only a deranged person or someone who hates the Faith or willingly under the evil one’s inspiration does that. The demons won’t. They’re too afraid of her and her purity.”

With that in mind, Diana’s new disclosure [see below] that the Kiko teaches that Marian devotion is intrinsically not Christ-centered and therefore idolatrous in some way should give us a whole new breath of life. It’s the same Protestant spiritual feces that’s been hurled at the Blessed Mother and those who stand under her loving protection for the last 500 years. I for one won’t let this go, and neither should anyone else. I have been asked to be patient about the liturgy and all that. But on the Mother of God, we will not bend.

A CLEAR AND CONCISE ANALYSIS

Posted by Jose Martinez

"The archbishop named by the Vatican to temporarily oversee the administration of the Catholic Church in Guam said Sunday that his actions and decisions “may be far from perfect” but are geared toward promoting unity in the church, among other things.

Archbishop Savio Hon Tai Fai has been in Guam for more than five weeks since Pope Francis appointed him on June 6 to temporarily replace Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron, while sex abuse allegations involving Apuron are investigated.

To date, the Vatican hasn’t released any details about an investigation relating to Apuron, who’s been accused publicly of sexually abusing four altar boys in the 1970s when he was parish priest at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Agat.

Apuron remains archbishop and has not been charged with any crime."
