I was off-island for the primary, and, frankly, I wasn't motivated enough by any candidate to go out of my way to vote early.
However, if I were a Democrat, and I'm not, I would have voted for Tenorio, for no other reason than he just seems to be the more reasonable and approachable of the three Democratic candidates.
I am a registered Republican, but I think if I had voted, I would have written in "Jeff" or "Jeffrey," for no other reason than to make a statement. Both Republican candidates made statements relative to abortion that were not only disappointing, but sort of stupid.
As I laid out in previous posts, abortion legislation is not even an issue in this election, and every candidate team (except for Terlaje) demonstrated their inability to lead this government by falling into a trap they didn't even need to step into. Note: Even though Terlaje was the only candidate not to "step in it," I still would have voted for Tenorio on account of what I already stated.
Now that it's between Terlaje and Ada, I think I'll do another write-in: Jesus. I'd like to vote for Ada, but he's an avowed Freemason. And for a Catholic, that's a problem. I don't blame Ada. I'm sure he never knew...until now.
It's a matter that our clergy should have engaged him on long ago. However, when you have an archbishop who eagerly runs away from the altar during the funeral for perhaps Guam's most beloved priest in order to give a big hug to Guam's most vicious advocate for abortion ever (the governor), and the nation's first openly gay Lieutenant Governor, and later give them communion, then....?

Does being a member of the Freemasonry go against the Catholic Faith? How is he still a member in good standing with Monsignor Benavente’s Equestrian Order group?
ReplyDeleteI linked the word “problem” for the explanation. I don’t know about the equestrian order thing. Msgr isn’t actually in charge. I believe Rodney Jacobs is.
ReplyDeleteConfirming Tim's answer. While Msgr James was the initiator for the establishment of the local chapter of the Knights of the equestrian order of Jerusalem, Rodney Jacob is now in charge of the order locally. Apparently he had a meeting with Tony, about the Issue. So far we do not know the status of either of Tony's membership. There has been no official declaration from either the knights or Tony, or his campaign. Therefore, one can only conclude that he is still a member of both. That is the perfect definition of a conflict of intetests
ReplyDeleteThanks, Frenchie. The issue of Ada's membership in the Masons and The Order is not a private matter. Ada is running for governor of Guam. Already, as a long-serving Senator, he is a public figure, and a conflict like this must be addressed publicly. If Ada attempts to maintain membership in both, the Masons will be happy, but Jacobs must take public action to have Ada removed from The Order.
ReplyDeleteExactly, but the "do not make waves" that has plagued Guam for decades, just like in the case of Apuron, when everyone knew about his abuses of young teenagers, but would rather silence the victims than confront him. The knights in this case would rather ride the wave and hope everyone forgets (sweep the dirt under the carpet if you wish) than take the moral and courageous decision to expel Tony. An act that old Knights knew all about, but apparently has been forgotten by Beta males.
