Pope Francis ...More reason to deny him the red cap! Pope Francis spoke against greedy priests. I don't see why AAA should be exempt.
By Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D. 21 Nov 2014: The people of God can forgive their priests when they have a weakness, or when they slip up, said Pope Francis Friday. “But there are two things that the people of God cannot forgive: a priest attached to money and a priest who mistreats people. That they cannot forgive!” he said.

The Pope made these remarks during his homily at Mass Friday morning, as he reflected on the gospel passage where Jesus casts out the moneychangers from the Temple.

“I think of the scandal that we can give people with our unpriestly attitude and habits in the Temple,” Francis said, “the scandal of commerce, the scandal of worldliness. How many times when we enter a church, even today, we see there is a price list for baptisms, blessings, Mass intentions. And people are scandalized,” he said.

Francis related that once when he was a young priest there were a couple of college students who wanted to get married. They had gone to a parish, and said they wanted to have the wedding with a Mass. And the parish secretary said, “No, you can’t.” “Why can’t we have a Mass?” they asked, since this is what the Church recommends. “No, you can’t, because you are only allowed 20 minutes.” “But why?” “Because there are other shifts.” “But we want the Mass!” “Then you have to pay for two shifts!” And so they paid for two shifts. “This is the sin of scandal,” said the Pope.

When people working in the temple “become businesspeople,” the Pope said, “people are scandalized. And we are responsible for this. The laity, too. All of us”

“It is a scandal, when the Temple, the House of God, becomes a business,” he said.
“What does Jesus have against money?” the Pope asked. “Because redemption is free. It is God’s gratuitousness that Jesus brings us, the total gratuitousness of God’s love. So when the church becomes a business, people start saying, ‘I guess salvation isn’t free.’ And that’s why Jesus takes a whip in hand to cleanse the Temple,” he said. Paul because his situation is more precarious. The ouster of Msgr. James increased and renewed my concern and my prayers for Fr. Paul because any doubts I had about Fr. Paul's responsibility for his ouster before were swept away due to trumped up charges being unfairly made on a second innocent non-NCW priest.Agnesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5652940417109665141.post-76254936171361336102014-11-23T20:59:29.805+10:002014-11-23T20:59:29.805+10:00I don't know for sure if the cathedral gift sh...I don't know for sure if the cathedral gift shop is closing but when I went in last Monday to ask if they had the "365 Days With the Lord" daily readings for 2015 they did not have them and said they aren't ordering anymore books of any kind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5652940417109665141.post-45216823417356630102014-11-23T20:53:21.245+10:002014-11-23T20:53:21.245+10:00Please remember to wish Fr. Paul was the first priest to be removed from his parish under false pretenses. Let us also remember that the Archbishop told Fr. Paul "I hereby release you from this Archdiocese to go and look for a benevolent bishop willing to accept you." Fr. Paul is now "in residence" at St. Anthony-St. Victor Church, a priest without a parish. Granted, the silver lining is that now more people are able to be blessed by having Fr. Paul celebrate Masses throughout the island. Friends have expressed their delight at finally being able to attend his Mass and hear his homily when he fills in at their parish, while Sta. Barbara parishioners continue to pray for his return.

At least Msgr. James was not advised to seek a "benevolent bishop." He was assigned to St. Anthony-St. Victor Parish as was Fr. Paul; BUT unlike Fr. Paul's "non-status," Msgr. James is a Parochial Vicar.Mary Lounoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5652940417109665141.post-86556724766129590902014-11-23T10:27:14.836+10:002014-11-23T10:27:14.836+10:00Bring back THE PEOPLE'S PRIEST to the Agana Ca...Bring back THE PEOPLE'S PRIEST to the Agana Cathedral-Basilica !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5652940417109665141.post-30602658648554072182014-11-23T08:51:13.368+10:002014-11-23T08:51:13.368+10:00Put Msgr.
