Infact in my contact with the apostolic delegate I stated that at this point in time in the history of the archdiocese Jesuits would be of service to the local church in positions of leadership in the chancery. We would feel happier if a Jesuit was in the chancery. Well stated Tim your on the ball.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5652940417109665141.post-29182640686248310362014-06-23T11:44:57.147+10:002014-06-23T11:44:57.147+10:00Fr Tom McGrath, along with his brother Jesuits, is...Fr Tom McGrath, along with his brother Jesuits, is very much loved by those he works with/for. Not even Fr Michael who is also assigned to the Cathedral was there. He and Fr Tom live in the same pastoral center. Sad to see that this was not a priority to any of the leadership.

But it is significant to note that the ones who matter the most were there...the people he has so lovingly served for so many years. When I had a dear one who was in the process of dying, Fr Tom Mcgrath was there every day at Naval Hospital. A nurse working at the hospital told our family that the Naval Hospital only had funding for him to visit 2 times per week, but Fr Tom was there every day, funding or no.

This is the type of dedication to the sheep I wish our dear Archbishop had, and his staff of ill contents at the Chancery. But as you say Tim, this didn't matter to Fr Tom because he rightfully sees himself as a servant for the people, not for the hierarchy.

Thank you Fr Tom for your loving service to the people of Guam for so many years. May your example be an inspiration to other priests who have lost this sense of service, and may God bless you many times over!Janet B - Mangilaonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5652940417109665141.post-65778485141778992362014-06-23T11:40:18.023+10:002014-06-23T11:40:18.023+10:00What is new! Remember the jubilations of father George OFM and can't remember the other one, right after Mass they Archbishop ran to Chalan Pago to be with his brothers! These two priests have served the island and to think Archbishop Apuron lived with them before taking the helm. He had more important things to do with his fella community than to sit with these two priests afterwards. The RMS priests and the NCW will always be a priority for him. His homilies are moving and to the point. Guam is indeed fortunate to have priests like him. It would been right and proper for the Archbishop to send a representative. He did not. How sad.
