PDN - OPINION: Why are so many Guam males killing themselves?

The following was written in response to the Pacific Daily News' invitation for a submission for today's Sunday Forum topic: "How can Guam better ensure equality to people regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity?"

By Tim Rohr

For the purpose of the following, a “male” is defined as a human being with an X and a Y sex chromosome and who “gender identifies” as a biological male.

The U.S. suicide rate, categorized by sex, is scandalously disproportionate. Among males, the rate is four times higher than females, according to the National Institute of Mental Health in 2014.  On Guam, the rate is six times higher, with males making up 87 percent of suicide victims, according to “A profile of suicide on Guam” in 2011. CLEVER

I suppose most people my age would not object to a picture of themselves in the local newspaper where one is actually ten years younger. But this was a clever ploy by the PDN.

It is no secret that the editors of the paper are pro gay-marriage, as they have consistently stated so again and again. And it no secret that I am their biggest public nemesis, calling them on it again and again whenever they run an article in support of the gay marriage or LGBT lifestyle in general.

However, and the record shows this, I have never written or spoken against LGBT persons, but only against the arguments used by advocates that either lack substance or, as in the article I criticize here, simply presents a lie.

AND NOW THIS

The whole same-sex marriage, gay rights, hate crimes agenda has as its epicenter the murder of Matthew Shepard. This is where the agenda found its cause celeb. The case has been used to depict anyone who speaks out against the gay agenda as homophobe, a bigot, and a hater. It has led to the revocation of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", the overturning of key portions of the Defense of Marriage Act, the persecution of clergy and businesses who refuse to mary same-sex couples or serve them, and even to the rights of school children in California to use whatever bathroom they want depending on which gender they feel like identifying with.
