Last week, the local media, and some on this blog, made a lot of hay about a comment Pope Francis made during his chat with the journalists, in the plane that was taking him back to Rome, from his stay in Ireland.

If there is one thing, that we should all have learned over the last few years, it is not to think that you can conclude precisely what the Pope intent was, when he makes a statement.
More often than not, what Pope Francis means is only clear to him only. What is almost as important to understand, is the context in which he said what he said, but also what he did not say, or perhaps only inferred in that statement.

While major media outlets like CNN and the New York Times are vigorously defending Pope Francis against allegations that he covered up Cardinal McCarrrick's pederasty, the Boston Globe is sticking to its guns. Sunday's edition of that paper included this editorial: 

Time’s up on Pope Francis and Catholic Church leaders being able to handle clergy abuse crisis

"Time’s up for Pope Francis and the leaders of the Catholic Church.

Catholics everywhere — and anyone who cares about children — should demand that our criminal justice system start treating the Roman Catholic Church for what many victims believe it is: an international criminal conspiracy to cover up the rape of what in the United States alone might amount to 100,000 children."  Read more.

To faithful Catholics, that's a shocking statement, even if we admit that there are some bad actors involved in cover-ups who are deeply embedded into the Church's structures of governance.

On page 5 of Archbishop Vigano's now infamous letter, fingering Bishops and Cardinals who were part of the cover-up cabal, which helped perverts and thugs like Mc Carrick rise to power, Vigano fingers a certain Cardinal O'Brien

Perhaps to some of you, faithful readers of this blog, the name might ring a bell? It should.....
Cardinal O'Brien has the dubious honor, to be the first one to try to shut down this blog and kill any criticism of Apuron, when he personally threatened Tim Rohr in 2013, only a few months after Tim started to expose Apuron vile treatment of Father Paul Gofigan, and three years before Apuron would be himself accused of  sexually abusing young men.

As the old adage said: "Birds of a feather, stick together"

I have been told that Tim did contact said Cardinal, after the Apuron's guilty verdict was made public by the Vatican. As of now Tim has not made O'Brien's answer public. This should become even more interesting.

LET'S ASSUME THE ALLEGATIONS ARE FALSE...

Let's assume for a minute that Archbishop Viganó's most significant allegations are false.  In other words:

1. Pope Benedict did NOT impose any sanctions on Cardinal McCarrick, and
2. Archbishop Viganó NEVER told Pope Francis about Cardinal McCarrick's heinous misdeeds.

Well, then, if that's the case, why wouldn't Pope Benedict, for the sake of the unity of the Church if for no other reason, exonerate Pope Francis with a short, simple public statement?  And why wouldn't Pope Francis assert, just as simply, that Archbishop Viganó never told him about McCarrick's misdeeds?  Two holy men would be telling the truth for the sake of the Church.  It seems so simple.

But no, both Pope Benedict and Pope Francis have nothing to say about the matter, the faithful are left wondering why, and the Church is left lurching dangerously close to schism.

That's if Archbishop Viganó's allegations are false. But they ring true, and if they are, we can only assume that Pope Francis is silent to avoid being caught in a lie.

Let me explain.Then we shall compare with other RMS around the world and see how that applies perfectly to the scandal that keeps on giving:" the Mc Carrick scandal". But also how the RMS are an integral part of the corrupting influence of the NCW all the way at the very heart of the Vatican.

Following on the heels of the scathing Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced she was contacting the six dioceses of the Catholic Church in Illinois requesting to review all records relating to sexual assault and abuse.

Madigan, by the way, is the sister-in-law of our own Archbishop Michael Byrnes.   Church Militant reports:

"Madigan is married to Pat Byrnes, brother to Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Michael Byrnes, sent to Guam to replace Abp. Anthony Apuron, who was removed in 2016 over allegations of homosexual assault of altar boys."

The Vatican is under attack from multiple sides. Everyone has an agenda to push forward.

It is becoming very confusing for the average Catholic to figure out what is really going on.

The catalyst for this whole mess has been the ever developing scandal of former Cardinal Mc Carrick.

Most of us understand, or at least perceive that there is a lot more at stake that the future of an already very old former Cardinal.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen many actors of the Catholic Church in the US trying to either cover their backside, or take advantage of the issue.

At first the concert of Bishops who came forward, was all on the same tune.

Basically we were told, that everyone was surprised and chocked by these revelations.

Then we found out that, like here on Guam with Apuron, everyone knew, but everybody kept quiet.

The modernist wing of the Church, came forward demanding clarity and openness .

The conservative side came out swinging against the gay cabal inside the Church.

POPE FRANCIS ON APURON: "THE EVIDENCE IS VERY CLEAR"

According to the National Catholic Reporter yesterday, Pope Francis refused to discuss the allegations made against him by Archbishop Vigano when talking to reporters on the flight back to Rome from Ireland.  During the same flight, however, the Pope could not help to discuss the case of Archbishop Anthony Apuron:

"I took it upon myself and I made a commission of canonists to help me..It is a complicated case on one hand, but also not difficult because the evidence is very clear.  But I cannot prejudge, I'll wait for the information, and then I will judge."

In a written testimony, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò claims Pope Francis withdrew sanctions against Archbishop Theodore McCarrick.

In an extraordinary 11-page written testament, a former apostolic nuncio to the United States has accused several senior prelates of complicity in covering up Archbishop Theodore McCarrick’s allegations of sexual abuse, and has claimed that Pope Francis knew about sanctions imposed on then-Cardinal McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI but chose to repeal them. TROUBLE IN TOKYO!

It seems that our good "friend", Cardinal Filoni, is forcing the establishment of a Redemptoris Mater Seminary of the Neocatechumenal Way in Tokyo, without consulting the Archbishop of Tokyo!

Yesterday, in La Croix International we read:

Archbishop Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi 'confused' by Cardinal Fernando Filoni's letter informing him of decision to re-establish seminary for Neocatechumenal Way

Tokyo Archbishop Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi admitted to some confusion after being informed that a new Catholic seminary for Asia will be established in the Japanese capital.

He issued a statement on Aug. 15 saying he was not aware exactly where the seminary would be located or when it will become operational. "I am very confused by the decision of the congregation," the statement read.

Archbishop Kikuchi said he received a letter from Cardinal Fernando Filoni, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, unilaterally announcing that the seminary would be established somewhere in Tokyo Archdiocese.  Read more.

Archbishop Kikuchi expressed surprise that senior clergy in Japan including himself had not been brought in for discussions on the matter.
"To say the least, neither I, the local archbishop, nor Archbishop Okada, my predecessor, have been consulted," he said.

This, despite the fact that the Statute of the Neocatechumenal Way specifically says that the Neocatechumenal Way “is at the service of the bishop“ [Art. 1] and that it is “under the jurisdiction, direction of the diocesan bishop” [Art. 2] and that “it pertains to the diocesan bishop, as responsible for initiation, formation and Christian life in the local Church…to authorize the implementation of the Neocatechumenal Way” and to “to watch over the implementation of the Neocatechumenal Way“[Art. 24]. 

Moreover, Article 18 of the Statute is specifically about the Redemptoris Mater Seminaries:  "The Neocatechumenal Way is also an instrument that is offered at the service of the bishops for the Christian formation of candidates to the presbyterate...The diocesan missionary “Redemptoris Mater” Seminaries are erected by diocesan bishops..." 

The Neocatechumenal Way has caused great trouble in Japan before, which we've reported on here.

OOPS!! DID CARDINAL SEAN STEP INTO IT?

We have shown how Cardinal Sean O'Malley, one of the Kikos biggest promoter and apologist,
former papabile to the succession of Benedict, and one of the most influential American prelate of the moment, had used the Mc Carrick scandal, to jockey to the front of the media, as an advocate for the victims.

He has lectured his fellow bishops, demanding more transparency.
He has lectured the Pope on the need for action.

He also refused to participate in the Papal visit to Ireland, under the guise that he had to attend a developing scandal in his own Archdiocese of Boston that is taking place at the local seminary.

Yet, today he had to apologized for not answering a letter denouncing Mc Carrick issues while he was still the Archbishop of Newark New Jersey. A letter written by Fr Ramsey who had sent it to Cdl Sean because he was the head of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors.

THE RATS ARE RUNNING IN EVERY DIRECTION. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Following the belated, but well deserved fall from grace of Cardinal Mc Carrick, Emeritus Archbishop of Washington DC  and hypocrite extraordinaire, we have seen all the rats starting running in every which way possible. We have noted particularly the attempts by Cdl O'Malley to capitalize on the mess, to push an image of champion of the victims and voice for justice for them. Both of which he is not.

Yesterday, McCarrick replacement in DC, Cdl Wuerl was the target of coordinated attacks, both in the Catholic and the secular media. This falls on the heels of revelations about sexual abuses by the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, which have been very damaging for the American Church hierarchy.

The O'Malley actions are very interesting, in the sense that as Gennarini goes, so does Cdl O'money.

As Tim, posted recently  I have been taking over the duties of going through our mail. I was amazed by the level of negativity and hate spewed by the people who claimed they want to be judged by the fruits of their work.

Therefore, after a lot of soul searching, and listening to the advises of smarter people than myself . I opted to publish a monthly "mail bag/hate bag", to give you a glimpse of what we are facing on a daily basis.
I hope this is a good tool, for people to realize the challenge we are facing as a Church.

WHAT THE CONTINUED SCANDAL OF CARDINAL MC CARRICK REVEALS

One of the most powerful American prelate for over a quarter of a century, and a rising star of the East Coast for another 25 years prior to that, Cardinal Mc Carrick is a perfect poster boy for all what is wrong in how the American Catholic Church has been run and administered for half a century.

At the same time that every Catholic observer and pundit has graced us with their analysis, some pertinent, others not that much; most have overlooked something, we on Guam have become more sensitive to. I shall try to analyse this today.
