SOME THOUGHTS ON THE KIRK ASSASSINATION

By Tim Rohr

According to media reports, Charlie Kirk's 22 year old assassin was "...a brilliant, church-going kid," the recipient of "a prestigious academic scholarship to college," and "a 'very nice' Mormon (who) regularly went to church with his family."

“He was a smart kid … I was shocked this was even him,” said a neighbor. In short, he was "the boy next door," a very smart, decent, family-loving, church-going boy.

As the media reports progress, accounts of Tyler Robinson's radicalization begin to seep into the narrative:

Robinson had become increasingly political in recent years and ranted just before killing Kirk that he believed the activist was “full of hate,’’ officials said Friday.

The question quickly becomes:

How did an otherwise smart, decent, family-loving, church going kid, turn political assassin in what must have been a very short period of time, the time between graduating from high school with a "college presidential scholarship" to Utah State University, the "highest academic scholarship the school offers," to pulling the trigger on September 10, 2025.

According to some who knew him, Robinson became radicalized through "bad friends and social media." However, given the pictures of Robinson with his family, and also given that he is Mormon - meaning even closer family ties and support, it's hard to see how he could have gone from the Mormon boy next door to the first political assassin in this country since 1968 by just a very few years of exposure to "bad friends and social media."

Just as I was about to tell you what I think happened, I received a message that led me to this video, wherein the narrator says:

But something happened to Tyler at college that happens to a lot of students. Take a look at these people who went to college and came out worse.

The New York Post reported:

But the accused killer spent just one semester at the Logan school in fall 2021 before he took a leave of absence for reasons the school could not disclose, she said.

I red-flagged this when I first read it a few hours ago. Robinson had received "the highest academic scholarship the school offers," and he spent just one semester using that scholarship "before he took a leave of absence for reasons the school could not disclose."

Given what he did on September 10, 2025, it's not hard to see how Robinson went from the "very nice" Mormon boy next door to political assassin. I've seen it happen first hand, in my own family.

No, no one became an assassin, but I sadly witnessed one of my most beautiful, most intelligent, and most prayerful children, and a child who I felt exceptionally close to, become an absolutely different person after her college experience - and it was a highly touted Catholic college.

And by "different," I mean in the worst way, and to the point where she publicly renounced her Catholic faith, or seemingly, any faith. Because she is my daughter and I love her, I won't say more. But the only variable between who she was and what she became was her college years.

I wasn't surprised though. I too went to a "highly touted Catholic college," and came out "radicalized." I won't get into details, but college, particularly my theology classes, crippled me morally and  psychologically for years to come. In fact, I believe I'm still in recovery.

It's interesting watching the raw emotion pouring out from every corner of the media over the Kirk assassination. There is a lot of finger pointing, and a lot of talk about "the left, the left, the left." But, at least in my experience, the real root of the demented hate that is saturating our culture today and has led to the first political assassination in this country since 1968, is hiding in plain sight, right in the classroom, especially a college classroom, and even a Catholic college classroom.

WHO IS "THEY?"

By Tim Rohr

A June 1, 2025 story in the Pacific Daily News about Fr. Cody Merfalen notes:

“Merfalen’s ordination marks a rare and significant moment for Guam’s Catholic community because he completed his priestly formation entirely in Rome.”

It’s not unexpected that we in Guam would gush as if this is some sort of honor for Guam. Unfortunately, because we are such a small place, it's easy to blush with juvenile pride at the mere mention of our little island by “anyone” bigger than us.

That Merfalen moved to Rome, attended a seminary, and was ordained for the diocese he had relocated to is nothing exceptional. In fact, many others have done the same. Bishop Randolph Calvo (born in Agana in 1950) comes to mind.

Now, had Merfalen been selected by our own bishop to attend a seminary in Rome for some special service to Guam, successfully completed his studies, and had been ordained to serve in Guam...well then maybe we could get behind that.

But just moving to another place, Rome or otherwise, and getting ordained, by the pope or otherwise, notwithstanding that priestly ordination is something of its own to "usually" celebrate, Merfalen's ordination is far from something to celebrate as "rare and significant."

I say "usually" because since Merfalen is a Neocat, and as we in Guam know, the Neocat "presbyters" have brought us nothing but heresy, hardship, and ultimately, bankruptcy - if you understand the connection between the Neocats and the Apuron scandal that brought this archdiocese to its financial knees.

But back to "rare and significant." Is it "rare of significant" for a seminarian to be ordained by the bishop of the diocese in which he is to be incardinated?  Umm, no. In fact, (unless otherwise delegated) it is only the diocesan bishop who can ordain and incardinate a priest into that bishop's diocese. And who is the Bishop of Rome? The pope.

The pope wasn't acting as "pope" when he ordained Merfalen and several other seminarians. He was acting as Bishop of Rome. He was acting as any other bishop. So, in this matter, being ordained by the pope was no more "significant" than any man being ordained in any diocese and by the bishop of that diocese.

Now, and as already mentioned, had Merfalen been especially selected by our own bishop for advanced studies in Rome or something like that, and for ultimate service in Guam, then, well, yes, that might be "rare and significant." But he wasn't.

I don't know how he ended up in Rome, but the Neocats are always looking for trophy's, so good chance that Merfalen was selected by the Neocat Brass - the priest-makers - to go to Rome for their own political purposes.

Merfalen notes in his homily that he was in the seminary for 16 years (twice as long as normal, by the way). So that places the beginning of his seminary journey at around 2009 while Apuron was not only still in power, but the Neocats were beginning to assume power of their own.

It's quite possible that Merfalen was sent to Rome only for a Neocat formation (at Rome's RMS) and not for the purpose of being incardinated there, but was in Rome when Apuron's Neocat house of cards came tumbling down circa 2015-2018, and was advised by the Neocat Brass just to stay in Rome.

Of course for the Neocats, it doesn't matter where one is incardinated. As we have seen here in Guam, they pretty much go wherever their Brass tells them to go, with no allegiance to the diocese for which they were incardinated - not to mention the diocese which probably paid for his education and training.

In fact, Mefalen says so in the PDN story:

"Father Cody Merfalen’s assignment may soon take him to the outer islands in Micronesia, though he hopes to return to serve on Guam one day..."

Interesting. So he's incardinated in the Diocese of Rome, but his "assignment may soon take him to the outer islands of Micronesia..." Assignment by who?

As a priest ordained and incardinated in the Diocese of Rome, his bishop, his boss, is Pope Leo XIV. Why would Pope Leo assign a Rome-incardinated priest, a diocesan priest, a priest ordained and incardinated to serve in the Diocese of Rome, to the "outer islands of Micronesia?"

He wouldn't. But the Neocat Brass would, and they will. They call the shots. Not the bishop. We saw, and still see, this first hand in Guam. EXHIBIT A: Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski.

Per his little pre-Mass speech, Krzysztof is going to Rome to "study." Really? Was he selected by his bishop, Ryan Jimenez, to do this? If so, then Jimenez owes us, the people whom Krzysztof was ordained to serve (not to mention the same people who paid for his formation for so many years), an explanation. But there is no explanation from Jimenez. The only "explanation" was his Aviso stating, effective Sept. 14, 2025, Krzysztof is on "study leave."

The fact is that Jimenez can't give us an explanation because Jimenez did NOT select Krzysztof for "study leave." The Neocat Brass did. Make no mistake. They still run things, and Jimenez will do what he's told. Why he will do what he's told is a matter for speculation, but knowing these guys, the Neocat Brass, I'm sure Jimenez owes them something.

Functionally, the Neocats (and I don't mean the average "members") are parasitic. They come in, suck up the resources of a diocese, including regular church members, and not only give nothing back, but do whatever they want, go wherever they want, and functionally give us the finger if we don't like it. (Listen to Krzysztof's little pre-Mass speech. He could hardly contain a nasty word about those who didn't like the idea of his "gift.")

At least Merfalen doesn't think an assignment in Guam, the same Guam who is celebrating him as "rare and significant," would be all that bad:

“He said he wouldn’t mind coming here, and it would be nice."

Merfalen continues:

But he said it’s wherever they need him,” Paul Merfalen said.

Who is "they?"

It ain't the pope.

FRS. KRZYSTOF AND CODY

By Tim Rohr

On August 30, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Toto, Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski, the current Parochial Administrator, tells us that his going to study in Rome is a "gift," and infers that if you don't like it then...

Fr. Cody Merfalen, recently ordained and incardinated in Rome, is the celebrant. Here is his homily.

The full video of the Mass was posted on Facebook here. No further comment at this time.

MEANWHILE BACK AT THE RANCH..... THE NEOS CONTINUE TO RUN WILD

(posted by frenchie)

Back on June 8 of this year, I posted an article under the title "Deja vu, all over again" which is available in our archives... In that article, I revisited decades of NCW propaganda, and some of the sticking point of said propaganda.

This had been prompted by a perfectly coordinated operation of earned media, a tactic which the NCW operators have mastered quite well.  In this case they had forwarded through social media, a somewhat pedestrian event, and transformed it in a victory lap for the Neos on Guam within the radio morning shows, but also in our 2 newspapers and on KUAM.

This was about a member of the NCW Guam who had been "chosen" to go to the seminary in Rome and had been subsequently incardinated in that Diocese of Rome.

That article like many pertaining to the NCW got a lot of views. It appears that while the Neos have been behaving more discreetly than in the past. People are quite aware of the potential for frictions and conflicts, therefore any information or news on that subject appears to peak the interest of a good number of Catholics.

One of the items I underlined was that Fr Merfalen (the individual incardinated in Rome) was planning to visit Guam in late August, Early September.

One thing that has happened over the last year in my parish, since the replacement of our former Pastor by Fr Val, is that we have observed the re appearance of the Neos in our Parish Hall. This had not been the case over the preceding years, as the communities had migrated to St Anthony, St Victor in Tamuning, where they were welcomed with open arms by Fr Mike. As I pointed in many other articles Fr Mike was and still is one of the most pro NCW diocesan priest in our Archdiocese.

So, this evening as I went to my Sunday service, what was not my surprise to see our meeting hall used for a large NCW reunion, with the presence of the new Neo's superstar Fr Merfalen...

It was all very family oriented, but this raises more questions than answers.

Something that I shall revisit later this week.

This just confirms what we knew. The Neos are still very active, they keep their promises, and they are preparing for the future.

TELL THE TRUTH OR GO TO JAIL

By Tim Rohr

In a comment on THEY RAN, Anonymous at August 30, 2025 at 9:53 PM says:

On August 27th, Frenchie wrote "...a series of specific complaints were unearthed..." regarding Msgr. Benavente. On August 29th, in response to a question, Frenchie was less dramatic, admitting, "A complaint was filed by an alleged victim..." It irresponsible of Frenchie to initially exaggerate the situation. There is a life and reputation at stake.

Anonymous at August 31, 2025 at 6:53 AM responded:

Not if the complaint was "buried" for a long while.

Here is my response:

It’s hard to believe that anything with any credence detrimental to Msgr. James could be "buried." As you may remember, Msgr. James has been hounded since 2014 when Apuron and the two evil stepsisters (David the Tall and The Adrian) ganged up on him, first kicking Msgr. out of the Cathedral, then attacking him for several weeks if not months in a very public way over alleged financial mismanagement and anything and everything their fried brains could think of. If there was anything "buried," you can bet that these evil twins and their neo-hounds would have dug it up.

The pogrom against Msgr. James actually goes back further than 2014: to the 1990’s when Msgr. Was made a Msgr. and The Adrian was passed over. Adrian went on an off-island pouting sabbatical for several years and returned in 1995 with the Neocats in tow. They had one objective: make Adrian the next bishop and get rid of Msgr. James.

So we’re looking at at least 30 years of “James-hate” by the people who ran this diocese for at least the next 20. And then there was Byrnes and Convocar for the last 10 years, who, because of the crushing scrutiny brought by all the law suits, could be said to have been hyper-attentive to anything that hinted in the least at clergy misbehavior. On top of that, our diocese had been under a judicial microscope for most of those 10 years with the lawyers for hundreds of claimants gnashing their teeth at the mere smell of scandal.

So here's the deal.

Let's be done with this. One way or another. Let's out the whole damn thing. If Jimenez wants to make something of this, then good. Let him put everything on the table - INCLUDING THE NAME AND THE FACE OF THE ACCUSER. No more of this FACELESS INITIALS crap. And everybody and anybody who has the slightest fingerprint on this needs to be subpoenaed, including the archbishop, put on the stand, placed under oath, and made to tell the truth or go to jail.

Jimenez may have believed this would remain an internal matter, or at most, a canonical matter. But it's out of the box now, and Jimenez has invited civil action.

As I shared in THEY RAN, because of my own history, I want to see people who believe they have been falsely accused fight back. I'm sick of accusers who think they can just throw stones, run away, and hide behind their initials or fake names like "Diana." NOPE. Put every last one of them on the stand, starting with the archbishop.

I'll watch.

THEY RAN

By Tim Rohr

In a recent post by Frenchie, some details came up relative to accusations against Msgr. James Benavente:

...the Status of Msg James as Pastor of the Cathedral, rather than the Archbishop was becoming challenging. It became even more difficult when a series of very specific complaints were unearthed, which led to an inquiry being launched which normally would lead to a leave of absence for the person investigated. Msg James lawyered up and decided to fight the complaints, which has led to a temporary situation where he is only authorized to celebrate mass, but is restricted in almost all activities. Ergo his odd assignment at the Santa Barbara Parish which is located close to his family roots.

In the comments, Frenchie later notes:

Msg James has rights while going through the process of being investigates. At least he has not ran away like Cristobal.

And I would add, also like Apuron. Functionally, both Apuron's and Cristobal's disappearing act at the first mention of an accusation was an immediate admission of guilt. Both of them had the resources to fight the allegations. But they chose to run instead.

Msgr. James has chosen to stay and fight. And in fact, this is something I wish other priests would have done - if they were innocent of course. And I don't mean just the priests accused in the clergy sex abuse scandal which bankrupted the archdiocese, but the priests since then, including the now-deceased Fr. Nino and apparently Fr. Dan Trajano.

BTW, other "runaways" are Fr. Luis Camacho (2015) and Fr. John Wadeson (2014). And, due to chancery silence, we are not sure as to whether other missing priests aren't actually runaways as well (all neo's by the way):

  • Rev. Fr. Julius Akinyemi (Leave of absence [no reason given]),
  • Rev. Fr. Francesco Asproni (Priest off-island [no reason given]),
  • Rev. Fr. Edivaldo Oliveira (Priest off-island [no reason given])
  • Rev. Fr. Aurelius Stoia (Priest off-island [no reason given]),
  • Rev. Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski (On study leave [studying what or why? we don't know])

Even though I was at the forefront of exposing the clergy sex abuse scandal in this diocese, I was disturbed at how weakly the archdiocese defended itself. I wanted the archdiocese (specifically the apostolic administrators, Archbishop Byrnes, and the lawyers) to defend our church and our innocent priests. And I wanted this because I knew that a rigorous defense would out the true perpetrators.

Instead, the church threw in the towel, both when Archbishop Byrnes decided to cease vetting accusers, and at the trial when the lawyers seemed to just roll over and let the other side shoot at will. Byrnes' decision to cease vetting accusers opened the door for the new abusers: false claimants with greedy attorneys.

Without any vetting or any attempt by church officials and their attorneys to put up a fight for the innocent among them, the whole process became tainted, causing the public to question the validity of any claim, which effectually played into Apuron and the Neocats' hands - whose only defense was that everyone was lying.

I was further disturbed by the fact that I had gone to war against the clerical sex monsters on behalf of the men who I had met, spoke with, looked in their eyes, and verified, to my satisfaction, that they were telling the truth and were willing to stand up and call Apuron out long before there was any law to protect them or the ability to sue.

Byrnes' dropping the defense and his near-sobbing "I'm sorry" at trial may have seemed like the "Christian" thing to do, but it ended up being the most un-Christian thing to do in that it not only let the robber barons in, it compromised the gut-wrenching work Apuron's initial accusers had to endure to come forward, not to mention handing Apuron and the Neocats the aforesaid talking point if not an outright victory, a victory Apuron recently tried to cash in when the initial accusers were forced to drop their complaints by their lawyers because there was no money anymore in suing Apuron.

There was no reason to be a door mat, but Byrnes - probably because of his advisors - chose to be one, and in effect, made all of us the door mat since we pay the bills. Why he chose this, I don't know. Even though I knew him personally and liked him very much, I always felt that there was a "deal" behind the scenes: that he knew this assignment was temporary, and that if he would just last it out, that there would be a happier home for him back in Michigan.

When his health began to fail, I wasn't surprised. As the years went by, I could see the stress in his face and his frame, and hear it in his voice. It was most evident when he took the stand at the federal trial in 2022. He was hunched over in grief and could barely speak. Watching him on TV, I remembered my early meetings with him when I warned him about what the "presbyters" would do - to him.

Byrnes thought he could make peace. He thought "can't we all get along" might work. It didn't. Byrnes, even though he knew his appointment here was primarily influenced by the Neocat generals (most specifically Cardinal Filoni), did not understand or appreciate their willingness to crush him, and when he closed the seminary, that's exactly what they did.

Now, back to Msgr. James.

Msgr. James has seen what has become of the "door mats." Not one priest has yet stood up for himself or our church, not publicly anyway. Some may think Fr. Paul stood up, and in a way, he did. However, in 2013, Fr. Paul was on his way out, and for good. A canon lawyer was provided for him by someone else who was willing to pay the bill. And here on JungleWatch, we waged the war that ultimately turned the tables in Fr. Paul's favor - and at great cost to some of us.

In fact, I wrote an entire book (TARGET = PRIEST) about the Apuron v Gofigan affair. A supporter paid for the publication of hundreds of copies, and at the height of the drama, volunteers stood at church doors around the island and passed them out for free.

Without JW, and the benefices of a donor who paid for the canon lawyer (and the books), Fr. Paul's war against Apuron would have remained a few discarded letters in a chancery trash can. Still, Kudos to Fr. Paul for being willing to stay in the fight and not run.

And apparently Msgr. James has no reason to run either, or else he would have, like so many others before him (or quietly go on "sabbatical" or just "off island" like these other guys).

I have no idea what the accusations are and I don't care. In all my years of dealing with Msgr. James on a personal level, a business level, and a pastoral level, I have never seen anything, and after all my years in the trenches with several of these bad guys, I'm pretty good at sniffing things out.

What I do know is that he has his haters, one in particular. In 2014 he came to me with a long list of "dirt" he supposedly had on Msgr. James. However, I knew the backstory. I knew why he wanted me to take Msgr. James down. I told him I wasn't interested and to do it himself. He has been trying ever since.

I'm going to let Msgr. James defend himself. I don't need to do that. However, as one who was publicly abused by false allegations of the most horrendous type (sexually molesting my own daughters), and as one who did not run but turned and faced the demons through multiple lawyers, judges, court battles, and the covid-shutdown of the courts, I will support anyone who is willing to do the same. It's simply too easy to take out someone with false allegations, especially men, and especially clergy.

Some credit me for actually taking down the likes of Apuron and Cristobal. But I didn't have to take them down. They ran.

REVISITING THE ISSUE OF PARISHES ASSIGNMENTS, FOLLOWING LAST YEAR TAINTED 6 YEARS ROTATION.

 (Posted by Frenchie)

About the same time last year, I wrote a column in this blog to analyze the movement of priests organized by "the three on the Hill" as they were called by the priests of our Archdiocese.

After Archbishop Byrnes resigned for health reasons several things happened that would impact the situation of our already weakened Archdiocese.

During his tenure Archbishop Byrnes had to address a mountain of issues left by his predecessor, the disgraced, corrupt and devious Anthony Apuron. One of these issues was the carving of fiefdoms within parishes. Archbishop Byrnes decided to enforce the at time controversial issue of tenure of priests by introducing a 6 years rotation of Priests within the Parishes of the Archdiocese. This unable the Archbishop to address the issue of the NCW "invasion" in every parish on the island, and the removal of problem priests to less influential positions, or in some cases (ie: Adrian Cristobal) to discipline rebellious and/or defiant clergy members.

Our situation was quite exceptional, and the solution was adequate on a short-term basis. It allowed Byrnes to smoke out the rebels, and attempt to re equilibrate a form of balance in a number of parishes.

As I said it was an adequate temporary solution, but it certainly was not a panacea.

Following Byrnes sidelining, Fr Concovar who had served as Vicar General was named Apostolic Administrator to oversee our Archdiocese until the nomination of a new Archbishop. This will have consequences as we shall see.

Another issue that did affect us indirectly, was the stroke suffered by the Nuncio, who had had a very good grasp on our issues, but ended incapacitated and whose mission was taken over by his right-hand man. A much less pastoral priest, and let say, a more Manichean person.

At the same time all this was happening, several individuals (understand priests) were jockeying to become the New Archbishop. Leading the Candidates were Bishop Jimenes from Chalang Kanoa, Fr Concovar the Apostolic administrator, Msg James the "Pastor" of the Cathedral (a very unusual situation) who told all his supporters that he was the front runner because of his alleged privileged relationship with Cardinal Tagle the head for the Dicastery for the Evangelization of people who oversees the Pacific Region. Other candidates, less known and less driven were also waiting in the background.

Not long after the lines were drawn, Bishop Jimenez became the obvious leading contender, thanks to his presidency of the Pacific Bishops conference, followed by Fr Concovar, who had very strong incentives to make sure that his tenure as Apostolic Administrator would be as smooth as possible.

Having reestablished the context of last year (2024) parishes re-assignment, lets analyze what I observed last year.

The first thing we established is that the Capuchins were not moved, because of their unique situation which is to take care of specific parishes under the care of their order. In these parishes the approach is a community approach rather that specifically that of a single priest. The Capuchins share duties and assignments from the ranks of their order.

The NCW. Following the open conflict with Archbishop Byrnes, he had accepted some NCW presbyters departure, along with the need to identify the "on mission" personnel. This led to assignments of Presbyters in NCW strongholds, namely: Agat, as well as the chapel in Yigo.  Fr Joel was sent to Barrigada to "manage" the parish. The latest becoming a disaster.  Most other Presbyters were moved to secondary roles around all parishes. In 2024 the system remained the same, after a strong advocacy by  Chrystof and Harold. Fr Concovar acquiesced to the Neos demands, making sure not to make waves. Meanwhile the other 2 from the Hill, Msg James and Fr Crisostomo organized what they thought would be the friendliest re-assignment to their planned takeover.

Fr Val the quintessential brown noser, got assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes in Yigo with Fr Nino as replacement of Fr Vicenzo. Fr Dan Bien was moved from Santa Barbara to Barrigada. New priests were assigned to Santa Rita,  Santa Barbara, Malojloj,  Inalahan, Tumon, Umatac, and Merizo. The most notable move was the exile to the south of Fr Gofigan The vicar for Liturgy. The notable people that did not move were Msg James and Fr Crisostomo who stayed in their comfy, wealthy assigned parishes.

This all happened in July of last year, before the arrival of our New Archbishop on the Day of the Assumption of Mary.

Many of us concluded that Fr Concovar had coordinated the transition with the assent of the new upcoming Archbishop. Others who were justly concerned (and many still are) by an alignment of Archbishop Jimenes with the NCW following his very friendly relation with them in Chalang Kanoa, remained sceptic...

While this assumption was partially true, the devil is in the detail, as Archbishop Ryan quickly found out. The process of discovery was gradual and slow due to the stalling of dossiers by Fr Concovar until he was nominated as Bishop of Chalang Kanoa. Not long after Archbishop Jimenes nominated Fr Paul as Vicar general, many dossiers which had been swept under the carpet started appearing and were found fairly quickly to be time bombs which could destroy the precarious balance of trust that Archbishop Byrnes had painstakingly attempted to re-establish.

This was a huge hot potato, especially after the Chancery was sold to finance the settlement with the abused victims, which led to a difficult to plan transfer of the Archdiocese administration down to the Cathedral. Not only did the transfer turned out to be a perilous one, but the Status of Msg James as Pastor of the Cathedral, rather than the Archbishop was becoming challenging.

All that instability and come to Jesus situation of several priest which had been delayed for too long also explains the nomination as Administrators, which is usually a one-year Temporary assignment before being nominated as Pastor.

Talking to several priests around the Island there is definitely a sentiment of relief, coupled with why we had to wait so long? I guess Archbishop Ryan is very cautious navigating this minefield. I am fairly sure that his 1st year adaptation taught him, that the devil is indeed in the detail. And several people from very different background would be very pleased to see him falter.

Time will tell.

DAVID SABLAN: MORE ON THE $40K HEIST IN SANTA RITA

By Tim Rohr

The following is a letter from David Sablan, President of CCOG, regarding his confrontation with Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski in 2016. The details of the confrontation were set out in Mr. Sablan's letter of December 18, 2022, which has already been posted under the title: STOLEN: $40,000 OF CHURCH FUNDS FROM OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE PARISH (SANTA RITA, GUAM). The following letter, addressed to JungleWatch, provides the context for the 2016 confrontation and Mr. Sablan's 2022 letter.

CONCERNED CATHOLICS OF GUAM, INC.
P.O. Box 10300
Tamuning, Guam 96931 Telephone: 1-(671) 482-4647

August 26, 2025

Concerned Catholics of Guam, Inc. with the Faithful who follow and support our work are committed to strengthening our Catholic Faith among the people of Guam. Additionally, we encourage and support local young men who want to pursue their studies and vocation to become priests to serve in our Archdiocese.

I read today the Aviso (Prot. No. 01-147) from the Chancery Office-which you posted on your webpage also-where certain priests in the Archdiocese of Agana are being given new pastoral assignments effective 14 September 2025.

Concerned Catholics of Guam, Inc. has always been apprehensive about the few priests still in our Archdiocese who are affiliated and are active with the Neocatechumenal Way.

As Bishop Athanasius Schneider (who visited Guam in January 2020 at the invitation of the late Michael Byrnes, Archbishop Emeritus of Agana) stated in an April 22, 2016 interview at the John Henry Newman Center in Hungary that the Neocatechumenal Way is a "Trojan horse in the Church." Speaking openly without diplomacy, he further stated, "The Neocathecumenate is a Protestant-Jewish community inside the Church with a Catholic decoration only."

Bishop Schneider knows very well the Neocatechumenal Way organization. He served as the episcopal delegate for the Neocatechumenal Way for several years in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He attended their meetings and has read the writings of Kiko Arguello, their founder.

Which brings me to this question: Why are these Neocatechumenal Way priests still in our Archdiocese, and given assignments in some of the parishes of the Archdiocese of Agana?

They should not be allowed to minister in our Archdiocese. They are free to establish their own churches and set up their organization like the other Protestant communities in Guam. Archbishop Jimenez should remove them from the Archdiocese of Agana once and for all.

Several Neocatechumenal Way priests have left Guam and are no longer incardinated here. In fact, Fr. Adrian Cristobal, a supporter of the Neocatechumenal Way fled Guam and his whereabouts is not known. He abandoned his duties in our Archdiocese and just left. Around the time he left Guam, it was reported he allegedly was involved in a sex abuse scandal within the statute of limitations.

In the Aviso from the Chancery Office, Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski, a Neocatechumenal Way priest, is listed as "On Study Leave." I assume this means he is somewhere learning more of something. I truly hope the Archdiocese of Agana is not paying for his "studies."

Will Fr. Szafarski bring back some value to our Archdiocese after completing his studies? Or will he end up like two other Neocatechumenal Way priests who took advantage of furthering their studies off-island and then left the Archdiocese of Agana. I do not know if they reimbursed the Archdiocese for any expenses paid by the Archdiocese of Agana.

I bring this matter up about these Neocatechumenal Way priests because in January of 2016, I personally had a major confrontation with Fr. Krzyzstof Szafarski, when he was assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Santa Rita, Guam. His predecessor, Fr. Fabio Faiola, another Neocatechumenal Way priest, was worse as a pastor. Fr. Faiola left the parish in disarray. I left the parish for about 2 years because it was scandalous for me to attend Mass celebrated by these two priests.

Instead of getting thing back in order in Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, Fr. Szafarski, did not improve anything in the parish. He was hardly around in the parish or even in the parish office. And now, is he really deserving-if the Archdiocese of Agana is paying for his further education-to go on "Study Leave"? Are there no other priests in our Archdiocese who are not with the Neocatechumenal Way who would do well for our Archdiocese if they were sent to further their education, and who would be committed to remain in our Archdiocese?

Attached are notes I wrote about that heated meeting I had with Fr. Szafarski when he was at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

Sincerely,

David J. Sablan, President

STOLEN: $40,000 OF CHURCH FUNDS FROM OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE PARISH (SANTA RITA, GUAM)

By Tim Rohr

The mention of the name of Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski in the previous post, brought back some bad memories for Santa Rita parishioner and CCOG president, David Sablan. Copied here is his account of what Mr. Sablan considers to be the theft of $40,000 from the parishioners of Santa Rita by Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski's predecessor, Fr. Fabio Faiola.

When will these heretics be expelled from our Archdiocese?

On August 27, 2020, Kevin J. Jones, a 2014 recipient of the Catholic Relief Services' Egan Journalism Fellowship, and a senior staff writer for the Catholic News Agency, wrote an on-line article on the Neocatechumenal Way (NCW) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. It is still available through the link below:

https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/philadelphia-archdiocese-asks-two-priests-to-undo-hasty-church-renovations-66304

The news story is about two NCW priests who made renovations to their parish churches including the sanctuaries without the authorization and approval of the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, who directed them to undo all the renovations after the archbishop with parishioners from the two parishes complained about these renovations.

Good for those parishioners who complained and praise be to Archbishop Nelson J. Perez of Philadelphia who listened to the complaints from the parishioners; delegated a liturgical expert to investigate the matter; and after receiving the expert's report, determined what these two priests did was wrong and ordered the two priests to undo all the renovations made and return the churches and the sanctuaries to their original layout.

At one of the parishes, St. Charles Borromeo parish, the NCW pastor converted a basement gym into a worship space for the NCW. The parishioners used that gym for social gatherings and receptions after funerals. The parishioners complained that their pastor was giving preferential treatment to members of the NCW in the parish. They felt they were being shoved aside in favor of the NCW's need for a "place of worship."

Here at Barrigada, Guam, in the lower level of San Vicente church, there is a room used regularly by one prayer group to hold devotional prayers to our Blessed Mother. One evening the prayer group started their prayers late. In the middle of their prayers, they were interrupted and advised to finish their prayers in the hallway, because the room they were in needed to be prepared for the NCW, probably for their bizarre mass.

Back at St. Charles Borromeo parish in Philadelphia, the parishioners went so far as to protest to have their NCW pastor removed! A 76-year old parishioner, Carolyn Jenkins, a devout Catholic and protestor said, "There's no way he can stay here with all the bad history and signs of racism we have experienced."

Here are two excerpts from the article:

"... critics point to its unusual liturgical style and have accused it (the NCW) of forming parallel communities in the parishes where it operates."

"When the Neocatechumenal Way is present in a diocese, it is often responsible for bringing priestly vocations from around the world, though some critics say those priests do not always integrate well into the local communities they serve."

That is because the NCW hierarchy and its lieutenants (priests ordained for the NCW) serve their own communities using the resources of our parishes which should be used to benefit all the parishioners! They are the cause of divisiveness in our Archdiocese.

Toward the end of the article, Kenneth Gavin, the chief communications officer of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia certainly had the "wool pulled over his eyes" with his comments about the NCW:

"The Neocatechumenal Way is a distinct charism within the Roman Catholic Church that is sanctioned by the Vatican. Its liturgical celebrations have some elements that are different from what the parishioners would traditionally experience."

Really? Contrast that with the comments of Bishop Athanasius Schneider, who was a delegate to the NCW in Karaganda, Kazakhstan for several years. In a March 2016 interview at the John Henry Newman Center for Higher Education in Hungary, Bishop Schneider said this about the NCW:

"It is a Trojan horse in the Church."

"The Neocathecumenate is a Protestant-Jewish community inside the Church with a Catholic decoration only."

The Neocatechumenal Way has been a thorn in our side here in Guam since we discovered their alliance with disgraced Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, and their plan to convert the Archdiocese of Agana into a model Neocatechumenal Way archdiocese for the world to see. With Apuron, the NCW had a "quid pro quo" relationship. They conspired to change and effectively takeover the leadership of the Archdiocese and infiltrate the parishes as well forming NCW communities.

They needed a local figurehead to lead the "Way." Apuron fit that role for them, and a real reward for the NCW was when Apuron, an archbishop, became a member of an NCW community in Agana. A first for the NCW.

The NCW have been here in Guam since 1994 when Father Adrian Cristobal and Apuron allowed them to "evangelize" to our local Catholics. Because of our trust in Archbishop Apuron, we believed this was good for our Church.

A few years later after the NCW arrived on Guam they were given an asset of the Archdiocese in Yona (for free) to establish an NCW seminary. Young men from the USA, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, South America, Central America, and Europe came to study at this seminary-way out here in Guam. In 2009, the first of these seminarians were ordained priests by Apuron.

One of those ordained in 2009, an Italian, Fr. Fabio Faiola, was assigned pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLOG) parish in Santa Rita. The parishioners welcomed this new pastor. Within a short while, his true character and intentions were revealed. His sermons and homilies were not inspiring and disjointed; no clarity of topic. His Italian accent made it difficult for the people to understand what he was trying to preach to them. He displayed no empathy for the people of Santa Rita. In one homily, he lashed out at the Mass attendees, lecturing them as being gossipers, always talking about people behind their backs! Many were offended, not because it was true or not, but he had the gall to include all the villagers in his blanket accusation!

In the few years he was at OLOG, he did some things that upset the parishioners even more.

He demolished the priest's conbento (house) with no plan to replace it. Fabio wanted to build an NCW pastoral center on the spot where the conbento stood for many years directly across the street from the church grounds.

The parish had made plans to build a split-level structure on that same spot a few years earlier and began efforts to raise funds for that project. It would house the priest on the first level, with a social center on the top level with a garage for the parish vehicle. Renderings and basic layout plans were developed.

Without any idea where he was going to get the money to build this NCW pastoral center, he went ahead and spent $20,000 of parish funds to demolish the conbento that housed the pastor since the late 1970's.

To further add salt to the wound, he spent another $20,000 for architectural plans. For these architectural plans, he paid Giuseppe Gennarini's son. Giuseppe Gennarini, Sr. is the head of the NCW in the US and Guam.

The plans were useless. They were designed using the metric measurement system, whereby Guam contractors use, and generally all construction materials are measured and sold using the Imperial measurement system (inches and feet).

Secondly, Giuseppe Gennarini's son, was not licensed in Guam, thus for this project to be permitted by the Guam government, a local architect and a local engineer would have to re-design the project using the Imperial measuring system. To obtain the construction permits required, they had to stamp their Guam licensure seal on the plans. If Fabio had proceeded with his grandiose "NCW pastoral center" local, licensed architect and engineer had to be engaged to re-design the building.

To this day, there is no pastoral center nor a conbento for the parish priest of Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, Santa Rita village.

Thirdly, before any engineering or architectural plans are drawn up, the soil should have been tested and analyzed. This was not done. The terrain of the lot is sloped. There was no current topographical survey done. Fabio had no idea what he was doing. $40,000 of church funds from Our Lady of Guadalupe parish stolen. The parishioners who had plans to build a parish community center and conbento for their pastor denied.

The parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe now are disenchanted and not motivated any more to continue their efforts, at least at this point in time as we work our way out of the clergy sex abuse scandal, and the removal of the NCW from Guam and the Northern Mariana Island to the north of Guam.

It has now been years since the conbento was demolished. Since Fabio was an NCW priest as well as his successor, Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski, they did not reside at all in the village. They just said Mass as scheduled and left Santa Rita. They both were not pastors, but transient priests.

Now Fr. Richard Kidd is the pastor of OLOG parish. He is an excellent pastor and a true priest for Guam. His office is his residence as well. A bedroom is set up in what was the office of the pastor.

The parish now must plan and raise funds to build its pastor a decent home. That $40,000 wasted by Fabio could have been used to spruce up the conbento that Fabio demolished. The conbento was a well-constructed two-bedroom red brick house with an efil wood and tin roof that was built circa 1959. It went through many typhoons that came across Guam since Typhoon Karen in November 1962 with minimal damage.

Because the lot in Santa Rita is vacant, it has been put on the list of assets to be sold to pay for the sexual abuse claims against certain members of our clergy. Had the conbento been on the lot with the pastor staying there, it would not have been put on that list for sale.

Fabio had the CCD building condemned by the Department of Public Works

Fabio called the Department of Public Works (DPW) to come and condemn the CCD building which sat right next to the church building. The inspector was not a structural engineer nor any type of engineer, but he was an official of the DPW, and his signature on the condemnation report made it an official order of the government not to occupy the building. The building was locked and taped off.

The building was originally a storage facility. The finance council of the parish before Fabio was assigned as pastor, invested money to fix up the building and convert it into CCD classrooms for the children of the parish who went to public schools. The building has a concrete floor, hollow block walls, and a wood and tin roof.

Fabio had something else in mind. He wanted to demolish the church building. Since the CCD building was next door, he at least got that building condemned which made it easy to say the church building needed to be condemned and demolished as well.

Fabio started to spread the lie that the church structure was leaning to one side. He had parishioners stand at the back of the church and ask them to see the church building leaning to one side. His plan: To build an NCW- designed church with the altar in the center and the pews set up around it for the NCW communities to sit together in designated sections. He even got Apuron to go along with his con. At a fiesta Mass, Apuron preached to the people that they needed to consider demolishing the church building and to work toward building a new one!

Fabio did not know that in 1998, the church building was hardened after Typhoon Paka (December 1997) blew the wood and tin roof of the church away. The parish borrowed several hundred thousand dollars from the US Small Business Administration to build a strong, hardened church structure with concrete columns and beams, large footings for the columns, and a strong concrete roof. The walls of the church were the original ones, but they did not carry the weight of the roof; the new columns, beams, and the large footings did. And there was a soil test and analysis done preceding the construction. The architect and engineers were prepared to design the church structure based on that data.

Some of the parishioners asked an engineer to come by and assess the integrity of the church building, after Fabio started spreading lies that the church building was not stable. That engineer said the building was strong and there was nothing wrong with its construction, nor was it leaning to one side.

So, Fabio's plan for a new NCW designed church was foiled.

The CCD building is still condemned. Fr. Richard Kidd is now working on getting that condemnation rescinded by the Department of Public Works.

Fabio fakes a burglary of the statues of the saints and the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Late one evening, Fabio with the help of others from the bogus Redemptoris Mater Seminary (which Archbishop Michael Byrnes closed a few years later after he was assigned Co-Adjutor Archbishop of Agana as it was not really a seminary) removed all the statues from their pedestals and niches in the sanctuary. They lined the statues (each about 5 feet in height) down the center aisle, getting them ready to be taken out and stored somewhere not on church grounds.

A parishioner, Mr. Gregg San Nicolas, happened to be driving by the church that evening and was curious why the church lights were on at such a late hour (close to midnight), so he pulled his car into the parking lot and entered the church. He saw what was happening and asked Fabio what was going on? Fabio responded that he and the others with him stopped burglars from stealing the statues! They came just in time before the statues were taken away.

I believe Fabio wanted to replace the statues with paintings by Kiko Arguello, a co-founder of the NCW and a close supporter and mutual friend of some Vatican officials. If this was Fabio's intent, then his plan was foiled.

The statues were returned to their pedestals and niches, but the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe was damaged. So that statue was presumably taken for repairs. After several years since that evening and a number of complaints from the parishioners, in early 2016 the statue was found stashed away in a storage room at Mt. Carmel School in Agat. There were no repairs done.

So, it was taken from that storage room to an artist who immediately repaired the statue. A few months later the statue of Our Lady was placed rightfully on its pedestal in the sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Santa Rita.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is one parish on Guam that has been set back by NCW priests who were assigned there for 9 years since 2009.

As a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe since 1978, I saw a huge decline in the interaction between the pastor and his flock since 2009, when NCW priests were assigned to our parish.

They were never around except for scheduled Masses and other times they had to be there for administration of the sacraments like First Holy Communion for new Communicants; marriages; etc.

Guam and our Archdiocese of Agana would best be served without the NCW. They should be expelled from Guam, never to return.

Those who followed in the "Way" can be taken care of by good pastors who can establish adult catechesis in their parishes for these adults seeking to know the Truth as taught by Jesus Christ down through the ages by the Pope and his bishops-not by Kiko Arguello and his cohorts.

Sincerely,

David J. Sablan, parishioner

My Note

Our now not-so-new archbishop continues to maintain his public silence about everything relative to the NCW, increasing suspicions that his rise to Bishop of Chalan Kanoa and his appointment to Archbishop of Agana is due to his connections with the Neocat power brokers.

FIFTEEN MILLION

The counter in the side bar indicates that JW is already 16,000 views past 15,000,000 views since July 2013. It's very interesting to see where the traffic is coming from and where it's going to. Most of the traffic continues to be to posts relative to the NCW and Apuron from ten years ago. Still a lot of interest...for some reason.

THE MORALITY OR IMMORALITY OF EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION AND A NOTE FOR OUR CHURCH LEADERS

By Tim Rohr

The recent mess with Senator Parkinson's "emergency contraception" bill brought to mind something I have recommended in the past and have long wondered why our church leaders don't do it.

For years I have watched our clergy get cornered by politicians and media hounds on tough moral issues. The usual tactic is to lure "Father"out into the public with a phone call or a surprise interview and ask him a vague or misleading question about abortion, same-sex marriage, or, in this case, "emergency contraception."

"Father" (or in some cases, the bishop) will stumble around a bit and end up saying something that sounds like his opinion and then the media runs with what they were looking for: "Father ____ said..., or the Catholic Church says..., etc.)

This was especially a problem back in the day (around 2010) when same-sex unions were on the legislative agenda. One particular neocat priest who was a ghost writer for Apuron wrote a letter to the legislature wherein he (in the name of Apuron) praised, albeit inadvertently, Islamists who behead homosexuals. Wikipedia has an account of this:

In opposition to a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, Apuron wrote a letter in October 2009 complimenting Islamists who punish gay men with death and contrasting them with gay culture, which he described as self-absorbed. It said:

Islamic fundamentalists clearly understand the damage that homosexual behavior inflicts on a culture. That is why they repress such behavior by death. Their culture is anything but one of self-absorption. It may be brutal at times, but any culture that is able to produce wave after wave of suicide bombers (women as well as men) is a culture that at least knows how to value self-sacrifice.

Apuron's letter made headlines. It caused enormous problems and fostered overtly hostile attitudes towards our local Catholic Church. But it did more than that, it created the climate that brought about the absolute opposite intent when Guam became the first U.S. Territory to legalize same-sex marriage in 2015.

In 2010, I was part of an advisory group to the archbishop on how to handle same-sex legislation. I specifically warned the archbishop and every person in the group NOT to talk to the media or write any "letters," but to SIMPLY COPY THE RELEVANT PORTIONS OF THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH and send it to whoever was asking for a comment.

But no, Father What's-His-Name, the neocat priest, who, in the name of the neocats, was so anxious to ingratiate himself and the neo's with Apuron, wrote this stupid "beheading" letter, placed it on Apuron's letterhead, and distributed it to all the senators.

It wasn't just stupid, it was and is forever damaging to countless souls. Most of all, it was a missed opportunity to share actual Catholic teaching - as already made clear in our Catechism. And we keep missing these opportunities.

While the Church is clear on its prohibition on the use of contraception between two willing partners, it is more nuanced in cases of sexual assault. The clearest position is set out by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services:

36. Compassionate and understanding care should be given to a person who is the victim of sexual assault. Health care providers should cooperate with law enforcement officials and offer the person psychological and spiritual support as well as accurate medical information. A female who has been raped should be able to defend herself against a potential conception from the sexual assault. If, after appropriate testing, there is no evidence that conception has occurred already, she may be treated with medications that would prevent ovulation, sperm capacitation, or fertilization. It is not permissible, however, to initiate or to recommend treatments that have as their purpose or direct effect the removal, destruction, or interference with the implantation of a fertilized ovum.

WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?

By Tim Rohr

In APPARENTLY IT'S OKAY WITH JIMENEZ...UNLESS WE HEAR OTHERWISE, Anonymous asks (and accuses):

So we know he is not a priest of deacon, and at best is altarboy. What exactly about his outfit would be against what is allowed? Or are we just going to throw the Chancellor and Archbishop so casually into accusing them of accepting abuses?

Anonymous is referring to this picture of a recent liturgical event at Bishop Baumgartner Memorial School:

The priest is Msgr. Ruben Espino who is also the Chancellor for the Archdiocese of Agana. The person next to him is the person at issue who we will identify as the "assistant," since, due to his dress, we don't know what to call him.

In the aforesaid post, I answered Anonymous. In this post, I will copy the answer with illustrations and a few extra notes.

++++

Clerical dress, especially relative to the celebration of the Sacraments, requires specific and identifiable dress. In fact, everything relative to the celebration of the Sacraments requires specifics, from the actual words, to the rubrics, to the vestments, the vessels, the cloths, etc.

The main reason is due to the dignity of the Sacrament itself, but it is also so that the sacred roles of the liturgical actors are clearly denoted. Functionally, vestments are uniforms. In the military, what would happen to a private who dressed like a general?

Altar servers are to vest clearly as altar servers, in most cases with a cassock over which a surplice is worn. An alb may also be worn.

Altar server wearing a cassock and a surplice.

Altar servers wearing an alb.

Relative to the matter at hand, Msgr. Espino’s “assistant” is not only not wearing appropriate altar-server vestments, but is apparently wearing a costume of his own making and in fact is wearing what appears to be a “rochet,” a white-laced vestment under another vestment, resembling a chimere.

A white rochet with lace elements, to be worn over a cassock and under a chimere.

This sort of dress is not only NOT appropriate for an altar-server, it is a type of vestiture normally reserved for bishops

There is also the issue of the assistant wearing a white collar protruding over the dark thing he’s wearing over his shoulders, which imitates a certain type of Roman collar as usually worn by members of the Redemptorists.

This "assistant" is known for his abuses, but he's not the real problem. The real problem is the clergy who let this priest-actor do whatever he wants. In this case, the blame lies on Msgr. Espino, the Chancellor.

However, if this sort of thing is going on with the approval of the Archbishop, then not only do I stand corrected, I will publish a public apology and will never bring it up again. If this is the case, said approval may be emailed to me at timrohr.guam@gmail.com and I'll post the approval letter on this blog for all to see.

In case some are wondering "what's the big deal," some of us are just tired of the abuses in our church, everything from the 50 years of sexually molesting minors, to improvising the liturgy, to imitation clerics - like the one at issue.

APPARENTLY IT'S OKAY WITH JIMENEZ...UNLESS WE HEAR OTHERWISE

By Tim Rohr

So is the guy on the right, the infamous para-priest at Bishop Baumgartner (from 2/27/25), an altar boy or a priest or a deacon or a...?

It "ain't clear." Sort of looks like a homemade wannabe priest outfit.

But, apparently it's okay with Msgr. Ruben Espino, the (real) priest in the picture. And since Msgr. Espino is the Chancellor for the Archdiocese of Agana, it's apparently okay with the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Agana.

Unless we hear otherwise.

SEN. PARKINSON: FEMALE ABUSER IN CHIEF

By Tim Rohr

On July 31, 2025, the Guam Legislature voted unanimously to pass Senator Will Parkinson's Bill No. 24-38, an act to provide emergency contraception for survivors of rape.

Given Parkinson's notable track record as one of Guam's most vigorous proponents of unregulated abortion, second only to Governor Lou, it's easy to see where he is headed with this bill.

Emergency contraception (usually Plan B or My Way) is already readily available without a prescription at all island pharmacies and other places like Healing Hearts.

However, Parkinson, apparently in his blind lust to push abortion, makes things more difficult for survivors of rape by forcing victims to get a prescription from a medical provider when, in his bill, he defines “emergency contraception” as "one (1) or more prescription drugs to prevent pregnancy."

Perhaps there may be prescription drugs which do the same things as the non-prescription drugs, but why go through all this legislative nonsense when a rape victim (or anybody for that matter) can walk up to a counter and buy the stuff?

Well, we know why. Parkinson wants a platform. He wants to present himself as the hero of sexually abused females when in fact he is the Legislature's female sex-abuser-in-chief:

" …during an emergency legislative session on October 22, 2024, while Senator Joanne Brown was recognized and engaged in debate during Committee of the Whole on the session floor, Senator William A. Parkinson made a disorderly, sexually explicit hand gesture, more accurately described as a hand jerking motion depicting male masturbation angled towards Senator Brown." - Resolution No. 579-37 (COR)

This is better than the infamous 1996 legislative food fight involving Parkinson's father and Senator Orsini - recently recounted in a PDN column by Ron McNinch - and providing us yet more evidence to the proverb that the apple doesn't fall from the tree.

Meanwhile, back to the matter at hand, it appears that the "pro-life" senators (if there are any) bought the propaganda that said "contraception" is only contraception and not an abortifacient.

I suppose they can't be blamed since Plan B's website didn't say anything about preventing implantation - which would then make it an abortifacient. However, up until 2015 (when it was removed) Plan B's website stated:

“it is possible that Plan B One-Step may also work by . . . preventing attachment (implantation) to the uterus (womb).”

Our lawmakers might have looked a little deeper. The facts aren't hard to find. According to Medical News Today:

Plan B suppresses ovulation, which can prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg. Therefore, taking Plan B as early as possible gives the medication the best chance of working. Plan B also makes it more difficult for a pregnancy to implant in the uterus if a person does ovulate. (Emphases added)

This fact brings us to the "when does life begin" debate, which is really not a debate anymore. Science, not religion, has demonstrated for years that life begins at conception. The debate at this point is not when does life begin, but at what point is it okay to end it.

According to Parkinson, in his Bill 111-37, there should be no limits on abortion including dragging a baby out of the womb and stabbing it in the head (Partial-Birth Abortion). His radical position still places him second to the current governor though, who believes living, breathing, babies who survive a failed abortion should be left to die. (See her testimony on Bill 195-32).

But back to Parkinson's comical "emergency contraception" bill. If in fact getting these pills now requires an examination by a competent medical authority and a prescription, as the bill "prescribes," how much more of an "assault" on a woman is this?

Per all medical documentation, the woman has up to 72 hours to take the drug to hopefully prevent ovulation, and, in general, the sooner the better. If she now has to seek medical treatment and a prescription, how many more crucial hours are going to elapse?

As it is now, a woman who doesn't want to conceive, raped or not, can go immediately to a drug store and down the pills. The general cost is $50. If she doesn't have $50, legislation could be enacted which requires the pharmacy to dispense the drugs and be reimbursed by the government pursuant to the buyer signing a simple form declaring she was raped and will seek medical treatment or verification after she takes the drugs.

But such a simple solution would not have given the Female Abuser-in-Chief his virtue-signalling platform.
