Aside from the fact that Deacon Claros will not be involved and then he is involved,  it does NOT now "lie with the Attorney General's office."

It LIES with Archbishop Apuron.

LUIS-GATE: JUST AN FYI

I don't have the police report nor do I have access to it as some commenters have assumed. However, the police report is not necessary for Deacon Claros to take action. Here's why:

The Sex Abuse policy for the Archdiocese of Agana states as follows:

IV. A. 1. As soon as any priest, deacons, employee or volunteer of the Archdiocese learns about suspected sexual misconduct, he or she shall report the information to the Archbishop and if required by the laws of the territory, to the appropriate civil authorities.

2. The Archbishop will promptly:

On March 18, the Archbishop received such a report (which I will post on Monday if the chancery is not forthcoming).

The Archdiocese of Agana confirms that it took disciplinary action against a teacher at one of its high schools, St. Thomas Aquinas, after a student complained of inappropriate behavior by the teacher. 

The incident occurred in January and involved a male student who informed school authorities that a female teacher had texted inappropriate images of herself to him.

The school administration took proper and immediate action upon receiving the  information, reporting the matter to the police as required by law. School officials also spoke with all parties involved, met with the student's parents and also informed Chancery officials. The teacher was terminated. 

The Archdiocese of Agana takes the safety of all children very seriously and  will not tolerate inappropriate behavior by any adults with whom our youth are entrusted.

Hey Deacon, where is Archbishop Apuron hiding Wadeson?

DEACON LARRY'S NEW JOB

On Friday, October 24, 2014, Deacon Steve Martinez was removed by Archbishop Apuron as the Sexual Abuse Response Coordinator (SARC) for the Archdiocese of Agana and replaced by Deacon Larry Claros. Deacon Martinez had some unfinished business that we hope Deacon Claros will now complete, and promptly. 

In  July of 2014, Deacon Martinez had reminded Archbishop Apuron that the Archdiocesan Policy on Sexual Misconduct requires the Archbishop to "promptly" notify the Sexual Abuse Response Coordinator of any allegation of sexual misconduct. (Sec. IV.A.2.b.)

Deacon Martinez advised Archbishop Apuron that in the case of Fr. John Wadeson, it had recently been reported in the news that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles had contacted "Guam church officials about the sexual abuse accusations against Father John Wadeson in 2011", and that as the Sexual Abuse Response Coordinator he was to be contacted "promptly". However, three years later, he had yet to be "contacted" by Archbishop Apuron.
