As such, under the leadership of the archbishop, "The Archdiocese of Agana has been supported by Catholic Extension Society’s grant assistance to mission dioceses for more than 30 years,” according to a June article in the U Matuna Si Yu’os (umatuna.org). MORE LIES FROM LARRY

Actually, they are Kiko's lies, Pius' lies. But Deacon Claros repeats them, so they are his too. 

In his serial effort to get us to part with our money to serve the fake church of Kiko and Pius, Deacon Claros, in this week's U Matuna, abuses the words of St. John Paul II. 

In answering the questions "Why are some priests being sent elsewhere?", Deacon Claros references St. JP2's words in Redemptoris Missio encouraging bishops to help "evangelize the world" by finding men and women willing to work in the missions. 

The abuse of the sainted pope's intent in this document to justify what is going on at RMS in order to get more money from us is simply astounding!

The "men and women" the pope is referring to are the "men and women" of the bishop's own diocese. The idea is to raise up an abundance of vocations which can be shared with needy dioceses and to stimulate a genuine missionary zeal. 

Sorry, Deacon Claros, but our bishop is doing neither. Instead of stirring up an abundance of vocations, he is stifling them, and in their place he is importing Kiko's ready-mix seminarians and forcing us to pay for their "formation" - a.ka. "hotel stay".

Earlier I was mocked for not really accomplishing anything, for just "having views", etc. 

I replied that I had accomplished quite a lot and then listed those accomplishments, but forgot to include my biggest accomplishment - exposing the annual lie that this archdiocese told to the Catholic Extension Society (CES) so it could soak it for a quarter of a million dollars every year and steal money away from truly needy dioceses. 

My exposition of this lie has caused the CES to dry up the funds to our money hungry chancery, and by next year, the full quarter of a million it got every year will be GONE. ZIP. ZERO. NADA.

MAKE NO MISTAKE. THEY WILL ATTACK.

Archbishop Apuron and his fellow bullies on the hill know they are backed into a corner. And make no mistake, like all bullies, once they are cornered, they are going to throw every bit of trash they can at the nearest possible target.

And that target, for reasons already explained, has always been Msgr. James Benavente. They have always feared him most, and hated him to boot. 

I don't know anything about Msgr. Benavente's management of the cemeteries or the Cathedral, or anything else about his management dealings for that matter other than what has been said in the press from both sides (and it is sad that it even went to the press). But I do know that HE HAS NOT DESTROYED PEOPLE the way Archbishop Apuron has for 30 years. 

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT

No doubt about it. Archbishop Apuron intends to crucify Msgr. James Benavente. His sin? He said NO to Giuseppe Gennarini, Archbishop Apuron's Lord and Master. 

• It doesn't matter that Misters Joe Rivera, Art Ilagan, and Rick Duenas, all financial professionals, PROVED that Archbishop Apuron misused the January 8 letter of inquiry from Deloitte and Touche, and LIED about Msgr. James. 
• It doesn't matter that Archbishop Apuron himself personally recognized, in writing, the progress made towards answering that inquiry. 
• It doesn't matter that Archbishop Apuron himself had allowed, if not perpetuated a perennial mess of cemetery finances before Msgr. James began the work of straightening out decades of mismanagement by Archbishop Apuron himself. 
• It doesn't matter that Archbishop Apuron is not allowing Msgr. James any opportunity to defend himself or to assist in the resolution of outstanding issues which normal justice requires.
• It doesn't matter that Archbishop Apuron had placed Msgr. James at the helm of such projects as the renovation of the Cathedral Basilica, the development of the Cathedral Gift Shop, the construction of St. Therese Chapel, the Cathedral Museum, the complete renovation of the dilapidated Catholic cemetery grounds and the construction of new crypts and a mausoleum, the development of the proposed new northern Catholic high school, the construction of the new Blessed John Paul II and Divine Mercy Chapel in Dededo, the acquisition of the Inarajan Garden Resort, to name just a few of the many projects Msgr. James either quietly completed or was in the process of working on. 
• It doesn't matter that Msgr. James has successfully managed and directed the biggest events, celebrations, and feasts of the Archdiocese for twenty years, simply because the Archbishop could count on one else to do so. 
• It doesn't matter that Archbishop Apuron simply shows up to get all the credit for the hard and thankless work of Msgr. James.
• It doesn't matter that Archbishop Apuron abuses our children by taking his little tirade to our schools and violating the Mass in front of them.

SOUNDS OF SILENCE

It has been rather quiet lately, hasn't it? What happened to the constant harping that I was spreading gossip and evil division? Hmmm. Maybe the facts had something to do with it? Of course, most of them have been presented before. And it really is a shame I have to do this again. But just so you know why I am, I am copying again the challenge below.

Did you check with the archbishop before you wrote the following? Because you are going to be VERY sorry you wrote this. Here's why. When these violations of the archbishop first came up, the audience on this blog was yet quite small. And since we first brought them up awhile ago, they have somewhat receded in the conversation as discussions about the Neocatechumenal Way have come to the fore. However, today, the audience on this blog is exponentially larger, and you have demanded that I substantiate, once again, these violations by the archbishop. He's not going to be happy.

"And "idiot"? What else to call people like you who make malicious and ignorant generalizations like the one you just made about the supposed group I belong to. For the record, I only know one person in that "group" who opposes the NCW."I invite you to check again and clarify. There are bad apples who are making your "group" victims of this generalization. 

That's strange. You're the one making the generalization and thus making them victims, victims of your generalization. That's intelligent.

David, I am anonymous who chooses to remain anonymous on my own will.Why do I stay anonymous? To show that one does not need to be an ordained or a person who has been theologically educated. I do all my reading freely and on my own will.

Our pointing out that Redemptoris Mater was a "missionary" seminary has led to some interesting things. 

CATHOLIC EXTENSION SOCIETY: RESPONSE TO COMMENTS - AND OTHER STUFF

There were several comments relative to questions about how the grant money from the Catholic Extension Society is being spent. 

How the money is spent and whether it is spent properly depends on the nature of the grants and how they were written. We do not have access to the actual grants so we don't know if the money is being spent as per the provisions of the grants. 

At this point, we are not concerned with how the money is spent but with what we consider to be our questionable posing as a "mission diocese" to qualify for such grants. We assume that once the Catholic Extension Society looks into this, they will also investigate into how their money is spent.

We write to you as lay Catholics living the one, true faith in the Archdiocese of Agana, Guam, and not in any official capacity. We write to you as concerned lay persons because we believe our chancery officials would never write this letter. 

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DEFEND

An anonymous defender of the of the Redemptoris Mater Seminary says this:

How can you deny the "selfishness" of not wanting to contribute to the formation of "foreigners". Yes, the reality is that because of the "missionary" role of the Redemptoris Mater Seminary, the newly ordained may indeed at one point have a calling to go on mission. This does not mean that we will never see them again. To think that they we have invested our resources in to something that does not benefit us is of the contrary. The missions benefit not only us on this island but the whole world entirely. The faith was brought to this island in the form of missionaries. In a sense we are only returning to the world what has benefited us. (See the full comment here.)

MY RESPONSE:

Dear Anonymous defender. The real issue is not that we want these priests from RMS to stay here. In fact, because they are not prepared at this seminary for parish life let alone the duties of a pastor, it is better for them they are sent elsewhere rather than be stuck in jobs that they did not sign up for.  I can say this because the Neocatechumenal Way blatantly views the parish model of Catholic life as dead and the NCW model of the small closed community as the new model of Catholic life. In fact, I have been told this on numerous occasions. 

NO LONGER A MISSION DIOCESE

One wonders if the chancery has notified the Catholic Extension Society, from which it receives quite a bit of funding annually, that the Archdiocese of Agana no longer needs its money.

The Archdiocese of Agana is classified by the CES as a mission diocese, qualifying it to receive grants to the tune of at least a quarter of a million dollars per year. 

According to the CES, to qualify for mission status the archdiocese must be able to demonstrate that it cannot sustain itself without outside funding.

Apparently we can. Not only can we now afford to sustain ourselves, according to today's U Matuna we are now wealthy enough to sustain two seminaries one of which is organized solely for the purposes of sustaining a missionary outreach to the ends of the earth.
