The following is a letter from David Sablan, President of CCOG, regarding his confrontation with Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski in 2016. Concerned Catholics of Guam, Inc. with the Faithful who follow and support our work are committed to strengthening our Catholic Faith among the people of Guam. Additionally, we encourage and support local young men who want to pursue their studies and vocation to become priests to serve in our Archdiocese. 

I read today the Aviso (Prot. No. 01-147) from the Chancery Office-which you posted on your webpage also-where certain priests in the Archdiocese of Agana are being given new pastoral assignments effective 14 September 2025. 

Concerned Catholics of Guam, Inc. has always been apprehensive about the few priests still in our Archdiocese who are affiliated and are active with the Neocatechumenal Way. 

As Bishop Athanasius Schneider (who visited Guam in January 2020 at the invitation of the late Michael Byrnes, Archbishop Emeritus of Agana) stated in an April 22, 2016 interview at the John Henry Newman Center in Hungary that the Neocatechumenal Way is a "Trojan horse in the Church." Speaking openly without diplomacy, he further stated, "The Neocathecumenate is a Protestant-Jewish community inside the Church with a Catholic decoration only." 

Bishop Schneider knows very well the Neocatechumenal Way organization. He served as the episcopal delegate for the Neocatechumenal Way for several years in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He attended their meetings and has read the writings of Kiko Arguello, their founder. 

Which brings me to this question: Why are these Neocatechumenal Way priests still in our Archdiocese, and given assignments in some of the parishes of the Archdiocese of Agana? 

They should not be allowed to minister in our Archdiocese. They are free to establish their own churches and set up their organization like the other Protestant communities in Guam. Archbishop Jimenez should remove them from the Archdiocese of Agana once and for all. 

Several Neocatechumenal Way priests have left Guam and are no longer incardinated here. In fact, Fr. Adrian Cristobal, a supporter of the Neocatechumenal Way fled Guam and his whereabouts is not known. He abandoned his duties in our Archdiocese and just left. Around the time he left Guam, it was reported he allegedly was involved in a sex abuse scandal within the statute of limitations. 

In the Aviso from the Chancery Office, Fr. Krzysztof Szafarski, a Neocatechumenal Way priest, is listed as "On Study Leave." I assume this means he is somewhere learning more of something. I truly hope the Archdiocese of Agana is not paying for his "studies." 

Will Fr. Szafarski bring back some value to our Archdiocese after completing his studies? Or will he end up like two other Neocatechumenal Way priests who took advantage of furthering their studies off-island and then left the Archdiocese of Agana. I do not know if they reimbursed the Archdiocese for any expenses paid by the Archdiocese of Agana. 

I bring this matter up about these Neocatechumenal Way priests because in January of 2016, I personally had a major confrontation with Fr. Krzyzstof Szafarski, when he was assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Santa Rita, Guam. His predecessor, Fr. Fabio Faiola, another Neocatechumenal Way priest, was worse as a pastor. Fr. Faiola left the parish in disarray. I left the parish for about 2 years because it was scandalous for me to attend Mass celebrated by these two priests. 

Instead of getting thing back in order in Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, Fr. Szafarski, did not improve anything in the parish. He was hardly around in the parish or even in the parish office. And now, is he really deserving-if the Archdiocese of Agana is paying for his further education-to go on "Study Leave"? Are there no other priests in our Archdiocese who are not with the Neocatechumenal Way who would do well for our Archdiocese if they were sent to further their education, and who would be committed to remain in our Archdiocese? 

Attached are notes I wrote about that heated meeting I had with Fr. Szafarski when he was at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

Unlike Apuron, Sablan didn't run. Sablan didn't hide. He stayed and fought for the truth. That's what you do when you have nothing to hide.

NOTE: So apparently the boys at RMS are running a hotel after all, since Edwin the Basketcase Bushu tells the KUAM reporter that she is "not polite" and that she should "come in politely and make a reservation as everyone does?" But of course, Bushu is lying. Not only were the doors to the RMS hotel locked - as the video shows - no one at RMS would even pick up the phone. 

BTW, a few weeks ago, in defense of Apuron, Bushu was screaming at his congregation from the pulpit at the Yigo church (where he is supposed to be) to "stop judging." Hey Bushu, sounds like you were pretty quick to judge the KUAM reporters. 

BTW, Bushu was neo-fast tracked, entering the seminary in 2008 and ordained in 2011. ONLY THREE YEARS to the priesthood.

A group of Catholics on the Pacific island of Guam plan to spend several days counting the number of people going in and out of the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Yona, the Pacific Daily News (PDN) reports.

There are some who are wondering whether the 9:00 - 9:45 AM Sunday picket line in front of the Cathedral-Basilica should continue over the next two Sundays:  Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.  

First, the picket line is a Laity Forward Movement activity, which CCOG supports, of course.   It is "Catholics in Action", petitioning the Holy Father through this public display of serious concern, to please laicize--defrock--Anthony Sablan Apuron, and remove this disgraced priest as the Archbishop of Agana.  

The picket line is respectful and reverent.  It is a form of public prayer.   The participants pray the rosary in solemn reverence during the picket march.  They sing beautiful Chamorro songs of our Catholic faith.  I have attended the picket march several times over the past year.  During that prayerful march, I felt inspiration from the Holy Spirit in performing my duty as a Soldier of Christ.   

It is the duty of all Catholics to defend and protect our Church.  We were commissioned to do so when we were all marked with the sacrament of Confirmation.   Defense and protection of our Church against the forces of evil is what the picketers are doing each Sunday, rain or shine (I have attended one in the rain, and it was invigorating!).   It is no different from a procession honoring the patron saint of a village, except in one aspect:  We are petitioning the Holy Father to remove and laicize Apuron as Archbishop of Agana.  We must continue praying and offering up our sacrifice (walking in this prayer march is a sacrificial offering to Our Lord) each Sunday when marching in the picket line.

On one Sunday in January, one of the picketers checked to find out how a group of first communicants from Bishop Baumgartner Catholic School would process into the Cathedral-Basilica.  Their procession would not conflict with the picket line.  An official from the school actually encouraged the picket marchers to continue their prayerful march because it was a great example for the young first communicants to see the Defense of the Church in action!  

I believe the march of the picketers is just as respectful and reverent as the procession at the beginning of mass on Palm Sunday.  It also will not affect the Easter Sunday mass.  There is much honor in the picket march, and we should all be encouraged to participate, and with Our Lord's promise:  "Ask, and you will receive . . . For everyone who asks will receive. . . "(Matthew 7:7-8), our prayers will be answered, God willing.

Nothing should sway the desire of our Catholic Faithful to petition the Holy Father to defrock Apuron.  Picketing for his laicization is protecting the Church, an important duty of all Catholics.  We encourage the Laity Forward Movement and the Concerned Catholics of Guam members and supporters to participate in this Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday picket line.  

HERE'S TO MUD IN OUR EYES

Last week, an op/ed penned by a Mr. Pat Olivia was published in the Pacific Daily News.

In that essay, he wrote (emphasis mine):

I understand members of both esteemed organizations [CCOG & LFM] want retribution for those who may have done wrong. But do they realize that each time they picket and each time they speak up in the media or are seen out in public as a group, they are nourishing that same division in our church that they themselves are praying to heal? They drag the face of our Catholic Church — the whole church — in the mud in the eyes of everyone, even in front of the Protestant churches and their members.

I won't be writing a seething retort in this post (Although I did respond to him on the comment section of the page of said op/ed - see link above) but I am reminded of John 9: 6-7 and offer this:

Our Church has been tainted by the heinous sins of those clergy who not only engaged in sexually abusing innocent youth in their care, but also systematically hid known abuse by shuffling these priest around, suppressing any reports of abuse, and intimidating anyone who dared expose the molestation and rapes.

Through rain or shine, or even no sign, we continue to protest against the evil that has been allowed to fester on our island.

This includes the on going battle to regain our Archdiocese even when the Neocatechumenal head catechist on Guam, Pius, allows this to be published on the "Insider's View:"

Like Grima Wormtongue, Pius "whispers" rumors and untruths in an attempt to divide this island's faithful even further.

I have said this before and I will say it here again. There will be two trials. One is the canonical trial that is already underway. Archbishop Apuron swore before Pope Francis that he is innocent, and he wants to clear his name. When the canonical trial is over and if he is found innocent, Archbishop Apuron will return to Guam and then there will be a civil trial.
He intends to file a lawsuit against ALL his accusers, and he will use the evidence the Vatican had collected in the canonical trial in the civil trial against his accusers. Archbishop Byrnes said that Vatican investigators will be coming to Guam to collect dispositions from the alleged victims. I am sure that they will also have Archbishop Apuron's testimony. The Archbishop is claiming that he is a target of a deliberate conspiracy campaign to remove him.

We welcome his return . . .

 . . but he remains on the run in the U.S., so we will continue to remind the world that he no longer has our confidence as our spiritual leader - demonstrating every Sunday from 0900-0945 in front of the Cathedral in Agana.

CCOG President David Sablan said it best, 

"We want a complete de-Apuron-nization."

Whether you believe the picket line has made a real impact or not, you cannot deny that the efforts of those walking the front sidewalk of the cathedral with signs in hand have not gone unnoticed.

The more we are visible, the more we are vocal, the more we are consistent with our message, the more it makes it difficult to ignore us.

While the Archdiocese of Agana faces lawsuits filed on behalf of child sex-abuse victims, some of the vocal members of the island’s Catholic community continue to press for suspended Archbishop Anthony Apuron to be removed of his title permanently.

Apuron currently holds no administrative powers or duties in the archdiocese, and was recently found living in Fairfield, California while he’s facing a confidential trial in the Vatican on allegations of child sexual abuse. The Vatican canonical trial is separate from the dozen cases filed against the Archdiocese of Agana in the federal court, and other cases filed in the local courts in Guam. CONTINUED

This is one of the lowest accusations against the Catholic Church on Guam that we have to read and endure from a newspaper that is supposed to give a balanced reporting on all issues of public interest. PDN is directly tied to the extreme liberal worldview of its mother mainland organization, the USA Today. Accordingly, it has a vile agenda of destruction of religious belief.

David Sablan's CCoG is one of the most despicable organization on island with a vested interest of causing extreme monetary damages to the Catholic Church. David Sablan is acting on this monetary interest, promulgated by the so-called Jungle hate group, to drag the church to court on both valid and invalid charges. 

We still have to learn about the validity of any accusation against Father Adrian who was sent to pursue canon law studies by Archbishop Byrnes. PDN is not doing well to promote a witch hunt mentality serving a handful of extreme liberal church radicals whose aim is to take over church governance from the rightfully appointed authorities of the Catholic Church.

NEW YORK ARCHDIOCESE ADOPTS CCOG'S SEVEN POINT PLAN

Last month, the CCOG proposed a Seven Point Plan to the Archdiocese of Agana for handling victims of clergy sex abuse. More than anything, the plan was crafted as a way for the Archdiocese to mend its emaciated image by showing that the hierarchy of our diocese truly cared about reconciliation and healing. It also provided an alternative path to justice for the victims so that the Archdiocese would be able to avoid going to court for at least some of the sex abuse cases.

PDN BACKS CCOG PLAN

After its wholesale "for sure for sure" scramble to hide Tony and then Hon's Filoni-ordered initial ignoring of the issue, the idea that the archdiocese could do anything to justly address the sex abuse issue is ridiculous. 

And despite the credibility of at least a couple of people on the new sex abuse review board, the effort is, as I've said before, little more than putting "lipstick on a pig." 

The archdiocese is so tarnished, so mangled, so full of residual filth from three decades of "the beast" that there is NO WAY that anyone (except for that one guy) is going to call that mobile phone number to get help. 

The CCOG has come up with a masterful plan, a common sense plan, a real plan, the only possible plan to seriously address the matter. And it is good to see that the Pacific Daily News supports it. Now, how about the Archdiocese of Agana?

AWESOME TURNOUT MONDAY NIGHT

This past Monday, the CCOG hosted a special informational meeting primarily for those who have been picketing every Sunday. It was an awesome turnout and a lot of enthusiasm. The message supported by all was so long as the word "Archbishop" is still in front of Apuron's name, then the FIGHT continues.
