SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE?

By Tim Rohr

A couple days ago, Tall Tales talk show host, Bob Klitzkie, gave a "class" on the so-called "separation of church and state."

I say "so-called" because there is no such phrase in the U.S. Constitution, but it has come to be thought of as such, and Bob explains a bit how this happened.

The "separation" issue is one I often engage, and in 2011 I wrote a column for the Umatuna, the then-newspaper for the Archdiocese of Agana, in an attempt to set the record straight on this "separation" thing and for the intelligent people who cared...much as Bob is trying to do now.

Here's the 2011 column:

The Wall of Separation; Published in the Umatuna 7/5/2011

Note: the article was one of several published in the Umatuna from 2011 to 2013 under the weekly column heading "VIEW FROM THE PEW." All of the columns for that period can be accessed here

APOLOGY TO THE TWO SISTERS AND FR. MIKE. AND ADVERTISERS BEWARE.

Dear Sister Mary Bernard Unpingco, SSND and Sister Bernadette Quintanilla, SSND, I would like to apologize to you for your mistreatment on this past Sunday's front page of what used to be a Catholic newspaper but is now nothing more than a Neo-Propaganda rag.

The recognition of your combined 120 years of religious life and service to our faith was dwarfed on "what used to be a Catholic newspaper" by the massive attention given to the Neocatechumenal Way.

First, the huge spread about the visiting Cardinal who has been in the pocket of Kiko Arguello for nearly a quarter of a century (see THE STINKING MONK RAMPS IT UP), and second, more lying excuses by Adrian the Pathetic for the misadventures of Fr. Luis Camacho in the car with the towel-covered windows! (LOL. What was he thinking? Towels?? LOL!)

Obviously, serving Kiko the Kracked and excusing Louie the Linguist takes precedence over the recognition of your 120 years of combined dedicated and unselfish service to the Catholic faithful of Guam.

Also, and this is comically ironic, twice as much space was given to Adrian's lies excusing the miscreant behavior of a kiko-presbyter who was hardly ordained a year before helping himself to a young thing nearly half his age versus the tiny news block immediately beneath it asking for support for a long-serving, real priest who has been nominated for a prestigious Catholic award.

I am sure that neither the good Sisters nor Fr. Mike care about the amount of recognition they get on the front page of this trash can liner, fish wrap, BBQ starter, whatever you want to call it, but the rest of us do.

We are sick and tired of The Clowns on the Hill using their positions in our own Church to beat us over the head with constant neo-propaganda, lies, insults, and fake Catholicism.

ADVERTISERS BEWARE.

THE MISSING UMATUNA OF AUGUST 10

As we now know, the first printing of the August 10 edition of the U Matuna, was frantically retrieved and destroyed soon after it was made available for pickup around 4:PM, Friday, August 8. We were told in a subsequent news story in the U Matuna the following week that the reason for the scramble to retrieve the first printing and print a second was "because of errors in the original print edition." Lies would be more like it. Lies the chancery thought they could (AGAIN) get away with.

Let's review the timeline:

July 31: The archbishop releases a statement to the media along with a seven month old letter from an accounting firm detailing the accounting problems at the Catholic Cemeteries. The archbishop's letter alleges financial mismanagement and is a response to the public outrage over his ambush firing of Msgr. James.

UH-OH!

Late Friday afternoon, sometime after 4:00 PM, the Chancery suddenly flew into a high-stress flurry of activity. An all-points-bulletin went out:

URGENT!
CONFISCATE AND DESTROY ALL COPIES OF
THE U MATUNA!

The U MATUNA, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Agana, is published once a week and about 8,000 copies are usually ready for pickup by the parishes late Friday afternoon. The pickup point is a table in the garage area of the Cathedral-Basilica.

At least three parishes had already picked up their bundles when the distress call went out to immediately return all the copies of the U MATUNA. The copies still at the pickup point were hastily removed.

Meanwhile, an altered edition of the U MATUNA was quickly slapped together and sent to the printer for another print run, sending the PDN presses into overdrive in order to get 8,000 copies of the substitute version out before anyone could suspect that something had gone wrong...terribly wrong.

Late Friday night, with the PDN presses cranking out the cover-up version of the U MATUNA, the Chancery Three must have breathed a sigh of relief, thinking they had recovered all of the copies of this week's first printing of the U MATUNA.

So if you see smoke rising from the top of San Ramon Hill, it's probably 8,000 copies of the first printing of the U MATUNA burning, or should I say, 7,999.

UMMMM, ANYONE KNOW WHY...

....after some parishes had already picked up their weekly copies of the U Matuna this past Friday, the Chancery suddenly gave the order to confiscate and destroy all 8000 or so copies? And then had to print a whole different edition?

The Pacific Daily News (which prints the paper) thanks you for the extra business by the way. Nice to know we have that kind of money to throw around. Gotta wonder how many homeless the cost of that extra run could have fed.

Just so you all know. What you read on Sunday was not the original edition. I guess they had second thoughts about the enormity of the lies that not even THEY  believed they could get away with.

By the way, Archbishop, did you make a police report about those slashed tires?

Who is being criticized and condemned? The people who concocted the lie and withheld the truth about Cardinal Tagle's letter or Tim Rohr who had nothing to do with the lie or its cover up?
Answer: Tim Rohr

Who SHOULD be criticized and condemned for concocting the lie and covering up the Cardinal's letter until all the Neos were safely on the plane to Manila? Jennifer Dulla and the U Matuna staff/chancery or Tim Rohr?

If you answered Tim Rohr for the last one...BINGO! You qualify to be a kiko. Congrats.

BEHIND THE CHANCERY WALLS - ERRATUM 2.0

The outrage over Tim Rohr's obtaining a copy of Cardinal Tagle's letter has reached fever pitch and is producing the most incredible accusations: evil scheme, international plot, even collusion with Freemasonry. Wow!

The reason for the outrage of course is that for weeks the kiko's (militant neos) were taking great glee in the fact that someone so important as Cardinal Tagle, the archbishop of one of the largest dioceses in the world, had personally invited not only the one and only Kiko Arguello to Manila but that the Neo communities of Guam had been personally invited as well.

CLARIFICATION ON U MATUNA STAFF

In recent comments there appears to be some confusion about the Umatuna Staff. The confusion is due to erroneous information on the Archdiocese of Agana website.

ERRATUM?

So here's what the U Matuna did with Cardinal Tagle's letter:

Some points:

1. First, this is badly written. In the first line it says that the "U Matuna reported". And then in the last line we are told that it was not the U Mautna that reported but that the incorrect information was provided in a story that was "submitted". We already know that the U Matuna did NOT report the erroneous information because the byline for the original story said "Jennifer Dulla - For the Umatuna Si Yu'os". So it looks like the U Matuna will need to print an ERRATUM to its ERRATUM. But don't hold your breath.

NOW CLICK HERE

Let's first reread some choice lines from Diana's Blog. The context is here. The original is here.

DIANA: "All I said is that Kiko was invited to the Phiilippines by the Cardinal."

DIANA: "the Pinoy Catholic website only VERIFIED what I stated.....that the Cardinal DID invite Kiko."

DIANA: "...what Tim is saying is that he has more INSIDE information about their cardinal in the Philippines than the Pinoys (Filipinos) who actually live in their own country. Clearly, this does not sound like a man who is willing to listen."

ANONYMOUS TO DIANA: "Tim Rohr is carelessly looking for a flaw. I hope the guy don't get a stroke swinging at the air. His audience don't realize little by little he is punking out."

P.S. Diana "herself" told us where the lie originated

"Kiko Arguello will be visiting the Philippines. It is not yet in the news report that after the Philippines, he will be visiting Japan. We know because we received the word from Kiko who told it to the Archbishop and the Team Catechists here in Guam. If you do not believe me, that is not my problem."

LOOK, DIANA, YOU'RE FAMOUS!

Diana scores her big break in the Philippines. Millions now will be following her/him/it/them.

The Loony-cats INVITED THEMSELVES to Manila on 6 June.

As per the comment from Peter Palomo, we now know that the regular neocatechumenal members (not the kiko's) were victimized, lied to, and used, as were we all by the story by Jennifer Dulla in the May 18 edition of the U Matuna. But we all know that Jennifer was just doing what she was told. So the question remains: Will the Archbishop let her take the fall or will he tell us who made up the story?

Also: Nakita niyo itong video noong nakaraang lingo. Normal na kaganapan ito sa mga Neo Mass.

REALLY?

Archbishop Apuron, are you really going to let Jennifer take the fall for you? Really? Do you mean that you are not going to apologize for the incredible ruse foisted upon this Archdiocese in your newspaper? Do you really want us to believe that it was Jennifer Dulla who got it wrong? that she dreamed up this FAKE invitation from Cardinal Tagle? Are you really going to let a young female take the fall for you? Are you really going to let her print a retraction that is NOT in your name? Are you really NOT going to OUT your team of catechists who put you up to this ridiculous scandal of a story?

INSULTING FILIPINOS

The NEO from Guam are headed to the PI to evangelize the Filipino people. Is that laughable or what? The PI where Masses are overflowing, where the poor are rich in spirit, where there is a chapel in most shopping malls, where the suffering are consoled, where marriage is protected, where families are encouraged, where Masses are held in offices during Lent because Churches cannot satisfy the demand, where abortion is still illegal, where

BECAUSE OF YOU, ASSHOLE...!

Sorry for the language, but this is the reason given by at least one of the Kiko's for why the story about the pilgrimage to Manila in the Umatuna was scrubbed from its website. Apparently it is our fault. Click on the link for the context.

Anonymous June 1, 2014 at 6:58 AM
Because of you asshole why they took it out. You jack ass!

WHO DONE IT?

So we now know that there was no invitation from Cardinal Tagle of Manila either to Kiko and his team nor to the "Neocatchumenal Communities of Guam and Saipan" as Jennifer Dulla reported on the front page of the May 18, 2014 edition of the U Matuna, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Agana.

This is rather serious stuff. A whole event, at great cost, has been organized under false pretenses (if not an outright lie), and a Cardinal's name was used without his knowledge or permission to substantiate the lie. This is an abuse of the highest order, certainly the kind of abuse that we are used to with Kiko, but now we have the leadership of our own archdiocese directly participating in the abuse.

DELETE!

Go to www.umatuna.org. Click on the search icon at the top right. Type in the name "Tagle". Hit enter. Two articles come up, both from 2011. That's it.

What happened to the big headline story from May 18, 2014, where Ms. Dulla begins:
"His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, D.D., Archbishop of Manila, has invited initiators of the NeoCatechumenal Way: Kiko Arguello, Carmen Hernandez, and Fr. Mario Pezzi, a priest of the Diocese of Rome to hold a Vocation Meeting with the youth of the Philippines on June 6."

STOP ADVERTISING IN THE UMATUNA

An anonymous recommendation:

The Umatuna may as well be designated and re-named the “Kiko Fan News.” As THE CATHOLIC newspaper on Guam, our Catholic Congregation’s natural expectations are that it would be wide-range in its coverage of non-neo Parishes, parishioners, youth or Priests. But this is
