SKELETONS?

On December 3, 2013, I wrote the following post, but chose not to publish it.
In a comment to the post CHANCERY VS ROHR: TWO STORIES, Anonymous gives some rather lurid details regarding the activities of a certain Father Louis Brouillard

The name caught my attention because the priest was recently mentioned in the U Matuna, (here and here) recognizing him on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of San Isidro Parish as its first pastor.

The U Matuna, in the past at least, has not been hesitant about publishing stories about clerical sex abuse in other places. I'll leave it at that…for now.

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY CAME

"By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes."

TODAY 1ST READING: "I WILL SEND A CURSE UPON YOU."

Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Lectionary: 151

Reading 1 MAL 1:14B-2:2B, 8-10

A great King am I, says the LORD of hosts,
and my name will be feared among the nations.
And now, O priests, this commandment is for you:
If you do not listen,
if you do not lay it to heart,
to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts,
I will send a curse upon you
and of your blessing I will make a curse.
You have turned aside from the way,
and have caused many to falter by your instruction;
you have made void the covenant of Levi,
says the LORD of hosts.
I, therefore, have made you contemptible
and base before all the people,
since you do not keep my ways,
but show partiality in your decisions.
Have we not all the one father?
Has not the one God created us?
Why then do we break faith with one another,
violating the covenant of our fathers?

NOVEMBER 4. FEAST OF ST. CHARLES BORROMEO

From a sermon given during the last synod he attended, by Saint Charles, bishop

Practice what you preach

I admit that we are all weak, but if we want help, the Lord God has given us the means to find it easily. One priest may wish to lead a good, holy life, as he knows he should. He may wish to be chaste and to reflect heavenly virtues in the way he lives. Yet he does not resolve to use suitable means, such as penance, prayer, the avoidance of evil discussions and harmful and dangerous friendships. Another priest complains that as soon as he comes into church to pray the office or to celebrate Mass, a thousand thoughts fill his mind and distract him from God. But what was he doing in the sacristy before he came out for the office or for Mass? How did he prepare? What means did he use to collect his thoughts and to remain recollected?

Would you like me to teach you how to grow from virtue to virtue and how, if you are already recollected at prayer, you can be even more attentive next time, and so give God more pleasing worship? Listen, and I will tell you. If a tiny spark of God’s love already burns within you, do not expose it to the wind, for it may get blown out. Keep the stove tightly shut so that it will not lose its heat and grow cold. In other words, avoid distractions as well as you can. Stay quiet with God. Do not spend your time in useless chatter.

If teaching and preaching is your job, then study diligently and apply yourself to whatever is necessary for doing the job well. Be sure that you first preach by the way you live. If you do not, people will notice that you say one thing, but live otherwise, and your words will bring only cynical laughter and a derisive shake of the head.

Are you in charge of a parish? If so, do not neglect the parish of your own soul, do not give yourself to others so completely that you have nothing left for yourself. You have to be mindful of your people without becoming forgetful of yourself.

My brothers, you must realize that for us churchmen nothing is more necessary than meditation. We must meditate before, during and after everything we do. The prophet says: I will pray, and then I will understand. When you administer the sacraments, meditate on what you are doing. When you celebrate Mass, reflect on the sacrifice you are offering. When you pray the office, think about the words you are saying and the Lord to whom you are speaking. When you take care of your people, meditate on the Lord’s blood that has washed them clean. In this way, all that you do becomes a work of love.

This is the way we can easily overcome the countless difficulties we have to face day after day, which, after all, are part of our work: in meditation we find the strength to bring Christ to birth in ourselves and in other men.

PDN: CCOG ALLEGES MISMANAGEMENT OF KAMALEN KARIDAT

Concerned Catholics allege mismanagement of church program to help the poor

Concerned Catholics of Guam has asked Archbishop Michael Byrnes to shut down the church's nonprofit Kamalen Karidat program, citing alleged mismanagement and a lack of accountability and proper documentation. A new organization should be created to fulfill Kamalen Karidat's mission of helping the poor, according to Concerned Catholics. CONTINUED

ZOLTAN CONFRONTS THE DIANASTEIN

DianaOctober 27, 2017 at 1:58 PM
Dear Zoltan,

I do not know if you have been keeping up with current events. I agree that The NCW should be obedient to Archbishop Byrnes because he is the Coadjutor Archbishop of Agana. The NCW has been obedient when he instructed us to celebrate the Mass in the church.

However, Anonymous 1:39 pm is correct. Archbishop Byrnes is afraid to go against the mafia of this island. He fears persecution. The Archdiocese is not controlled by the Archbishop. It is controlled by CCOG.

ANONYMOUS: "BRAIN DEAD GUAM"

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "WHERE IN THE WORLD IS HAROLD?":
Anon 10/23 @9:00 pm, Abp. Cordileone knows exactly what type of seminarians he's getting. So does St. Pat's tough Jesuit Rector.
The Archdiocese of San Francisco is far from perfect, but It's light years from brain-dead Guam.

California has some of the world's top universities and colleges, secular and religious. The SF Bay Area alone is home to UC-Berkeley, UCSF Medical and Dental schools, Stanford U., USF and U.Santa Clara (both Jesuit), St. Mary's and the US Maritime Academy. Add a strong State college system to those.

San Francisco's educational level is very high. Our brilliant former Pastor took a parishoner survey when he first arrived so he'd know what he was dealing with. He was shocked to find out that 97% of his 3,200+ parishoners have at least a Bachelors Degree, with most of us having Masters and professional degrees as well. Most of the churches in this area probably have the same or similar demographics.

YOU DIDN'T WANT TO CONVERT!

"You didn't like the scrutinies because you didn't want to convert..."
"Julio Cesar", Brooklyn, NY

"You didn't like the scrutinies because you didn't want to convert" says Julio Cesar in a recent comment.  He continues, "Everything in the scrutinies is based on the Word of God."

The "scrutinies" that he's referring to are the ...

YOU ALL HARDHEADED...

Posted today to a post made more than a year ago: THE DEEP EVIL OF KIKO ARGUELLO

Anonymous October 25, 2017 at 9:27 AM

It’s true the church isn’t dying and that’s because of the way! At World youth days and meeting they will have calling, if anyone feels the calling into the priest hood or the Sister hood. Where is the evil in that what money are they asking for. Also this leads you to Kiko get out of here! I’m in the way and not once have I even met Kiko so stop. What the promblem with you all (hardheaded) is that you can’t take correction, if they tell you “your living your life in a selfish way” everything becomes bad in the way check if it’s not you before attacking the way I never hear anything about other groups in the church.

REPLYING TO JULIO

"...the Neo Catechumenal Way IS Vatican II truly implemented."
"Julio Cesar" from Brooklyn, New York

We've always suspected that members of the Way are taught that their movement is not a mere fruit of the Second Vatican Council, but rather is the implementation of it. Julio's comment bolsters my belief.

PROOF THE NCW IS OUTSIDE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

But Eusebio said he has no concern about the future of the movement.

"He cannot stop the Way even though he doesn't like us,"Eusebio told the Post. "He can prevent us from meeting in the Church, but we can always meet in homes."

WHAT REAL COURAGE LOOKS LIKE. YESTERDAY, OCTOBER 19, WAS HIS FEAST DAY.

Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko

Born to a farm family. Ordained on 28 May 1972 in the archdiocese of Warsaw, Poland. Noted and vocal anti-Communist preacher during the period of Communist rule in Poland. Worked closely with the anti-Communist Solidarity union movement. When martial law was declared in Poland to suppress opposition, the Church continued to work against the Communists, and Father Jerzy’s sermons were broadcast on Radio Free Europe. The secret police threatened and pressured him to stop, but he ignored them. They trumped up evidence and arrested him in 1983, but the Church hierarchy indicated that they would fight the charges; the false charges were dropped, Father Jerzy was released, continued his work, and was pardoned in a general amnesty of 22 July 1984. The Communists tried several times to kill him and make it look like an accident or anonymous attack, but they quit hiding their intentions, and the secret police simply kidnapped and killed Father Jerzy. Martyr.

SECRECY AND EXCOMMUNICATION: ATTORNEYS DISCUSS APURON'S CANONICAL TRIAL

"We understand Your Honor, that the people are sworn to secrecy, and if they expose it that they'll be excommunicated if they expose it." - Attorney John Terlaje, Counsel for Archdiocese of Agana to Judge Gatewood

The attorneys representing Archbishop Apuron and the Archdiocese of Agana discussed the outcome of Archbishop Apuron's canonical trial the other day in federal court.

Does Rome really think that secrecy and threats of excommunication are going to work or make things better here or anywhere else?  SMH.

THE DEEP STATE AT THE UMATUNA

This article in the Umatuna is dated October 16, 2017, which means it will appear in this weekend's print version. The picture shows Deacon Frank Tenorio front and center.

However, Deacon Tenorio was removed several months ago from his position at Kamalen Karidat. Sadly, Deacon Tenorio tarnished the image of Kamalin Karidat when he appeared in the infamous Edivaldo-produced "fist pump" video:

The Puppeteers with their puppet! from Undercover Neo on Vimeo.

According to our information, Tenorio is NOT involved with Kamalen Karidat in any capacity so apparently someone at the Umatuna wanted to make a statement by using this picture.

It's a bad move

Faith and confidence in our archdiocesan leadership had just turned a corner with the announcement of the closure of RMS, with improved donations from the faithful on the horizon.

We hope, Fr. Mike Crisostomo, the new director of Kamalen Karidat, will soon clear this up. And we hope as well that someone will start looking into the "deep state" that still exists at the chancery, especially at the Umatuna.

TONY ON MY MIND...

Pope Francis concludes with an exhortation: to look at the “icons of today's fools,” adding, “there are foolish Christians and even foolish shepherds,” in this day. “Saint Augustine,” he recalled, “takes the stick to them, with gusto,” because “the folly of the shepherds hurts the flock.”

APURON TO ALTAR BOY: "GET OVER IT"

Lawsuit: Apuron tells altar boy to 'pray, get over' sexual abuse by another priest

Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron allegedly told an altar boy that he will get over an evil situation if he prays about it, after the boy told Apuron that Father Raymond Cepeda sexually abused him from around 1992 to 1999, a lawsuit filed in federal court on Tuesday says.
