MORE PESKY "EXTERNAL MATTERS"

"Floral decoration should always show moderation and be arranged around the altar rather than on the altar table."

  1. Maybe there's a reading comprehension issue since the photo clearly depicts flowers arranged around the edges of the altar table. Could it be an interpretation of the GIRM made by one for whom English is a second — or third — language?

    1. Mary Lou its just my opinion but common sense tells you if you were told to go around the table you would not walk on top of the table around the edges., If you were told to walk on the table you would get on top of it. When the instructions say flowers go around the table and not on top, well it seems clear to me!

    2. Whatever! The flowers are placed at the edge of the table, but they are still on top of the table. Manner in which they are place makes no difference....it's still on top of the table.

  2. umm... I think that one doesn't hold water. If I'm not mistaken the GIRM is not only printed in English... just saying.
