THE DIANA: "WHY SHOULD ONE LISTEN TO TIM ROHR?"

By Tim Rohr

First, I want to thank The Diana.

JW had been bumping along at about 20,000 pageviews per month with boring posts about abortion and same-sex marriage, but we are barely halfway through June and JW already has nearly double the views:

The only thing that can account for the sudden increase is a single JW post about the NCW, which I wouldn't have posted except that The Diana functionally invited it (as demonstrated in the JW post). And now that The Diana has replied with a retaliatory post, I'm excited about the numbers going even higher.

Well, no, it's not really about "the numbers" as in "stats," it's about the number of people around the world (see the Flag Counter in the sidebar) who otherwise would never know the truth since the NCW leadership continues to operate behind cloak and veil.

Speaking of "cloak and veil," the fact that The Diana still has to post behind a pseudonym after all these years tells us all we need to know. (Note: It's true that some contributors to JW have used pseudonyms. However, the name Tim Rohr was and is always on this blog, and in such a way that I can be held personally accountable - and "persecute-able" by my detractors.)

Also, before going on, I again want to make the distinction between the rank and file members of the NCW and its leadership. Any post on JW about the NCW is about its leadership, not the rank and file members who, as far as I know, are sincere Catholics only wanting to deepen their faith and are kept in the dark or misled by the NCW leadership as much as the rest of us are.

Just Like Old Times

Just like old times, it's always hard to know where to start when countering The Diana. (I'll assign the pronouns "she" and "her" for convenience.) As usual, she makes the most laughable "reaches" in efforts to make the most absurd connections.

The Diana's main "thesis" in her retaliatory post is...well, I'll copy it here:

Nowhere in Scripture does it mention the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. So, where did we get this teaching? Well, certainly not from Tim Rohr.

Here's the context:

Rohr misleads people by focusing that the letter was to the Rome Diocese. However, what I placed in bold clearly showed that the Statutes of the Neocatecumenal Way allowed for small-group celebrations of the Easter Vigil. Does Tim Rohr think that the NCW in Rome have a DIFFERENT approved Statutes? Rome was referring to the Statutes that all NCW worldwide have.  Rohr goes on to say:

Meanwhile, the episcopal council of Rome appears not to have read the NCW Statutes which say nothing about "small-group celebrations of the Easter vigil."

So what? Nowhere in Scripture does it mention the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. So, where did we get this teaching? Well, certainly not from Tim Rohr. We got this from the Holy See...the Vatican. Tim Rohr is simply taking a stance that all Protestants use against the Catholic Church. Who is Tim Rohr to dictate what should be and should not be in the approved Statutes?

So The Diana says that because the Dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is not found explicitly in Scripture then neither do the practices of the NCW have to be found explicitly in its Statutes. (Note: See how The Diana equates the NCW Statute with Dogma, the Dogma of the Assumption!)

It would be fun to go on and on about the those things which are set forth explicitly in the Church's official teaching and its laws which are wholly ignored by Kiko and his clan (the NCW leadership), but Chuck White has already done a pretty good job of doing that here.

Meanwhile, for the edification of all, let's review some stuff The Diana says - however ridiculous and tiresome this exercise may seem.

The Diana says:

Rohr misleads people by focusing that the letter was to the Rome Diocese. However, what I placed in bold clearly showed that the Statutes of the Neocatecumenal (sic) Way allowed for small-group celebrations of the Easter Vigil.

What The Diana placed in bold is this:

An exception exists for “national churches,” like the U.S. Catholic community at St. Patrick Church in Rome, and for members of the Neocatechumenal Way, whose Vatican-approved statutes allow for small-group celebrations of the Easter vigil, Midili said.

In my initial post, I noted that Midili and his crew appeared to have not read the NCW Statutes since the Statutes say nothing about "small-group celebrations of the Easter vigil." I shall copy the relevant Statute again here:

Art. 12

[Paschal Vigil]

§ 1. Axis and source of Christian life is the paschal mystery, lived and celebrated in a pre- eminent way in the Sacred Triduum,42 whose brilliance fills the whole liturgical year with light.43 For this reason, it constitutes the fulcrum of the Neocatechumenate, since this is a rediscovery of Christian initiation.

§ 2. “The Paschal Vigil, focal point of the Christian liturgy, and its baptismal spirituality inspire all Catechesis.”44 It is for this reason that during the itinerary, the neocatechumens are initiated gradually45 into an ever more perfect participation in all that the holy night signifies, celebrates and realizes.

§ 3. In this way, the Neocatechumenate will stimulate the parish to have a richer celebration of the Paschal Vigil.46

(Full Statutes of the NCW linked here.)

Clearly, nothing about the NCW celebrating the Easter Vigil in small groups. And, as pointed out in JW's initial post, the fact that the NCW Statutes set out the provisions for the celebration of the Eucharist in small groups for the other Sundays of the year in a separate statute (the very next one), clearly indicates that The Pasch/Easter is separate and unique to the other Sundays of the year. But then most of us already know that, or should.

More Fun

Here's another fun Diana statement:

Does Tim Rohr think that the NCW in Rome have a DIFFERENT approved Statutes? Rome was referring to the Statutes that all NCW worldwide have.

Well, yes. There may in fact be a difference between the Diocese of Rome and the Archdiocese of Agana and in fact, every diocese in the world because the NCW Statutes clearly state that the NCW is "at the service of the bishop," not the pope:

Art. 1

[Nature of the Neocatechumenal Way]

§ 1. The nature of the Neocatechumenal Way is defined by His Holiness John Paul II when he writes: “I recognize the Neocatechumenal Way as an itinerary of Catholic formation, valid for our society and for our times.”1

§ 2. The Neocatechumenal Way is at the service of the bishop as one of the forms of diocesan implementation of Christian initiation and of ongoing education in faith.

Thus, the diocesan bishop is authorized by the NCW's own Statutes, and in its very first article, to implement, apply, enforce, regulate, or completely disregard and/or dismiss the NCW Statutes however said bishop pleases.

Thus, contrary to The Diana's claim that Fr. Romy has to obey the pope, Fr. Romy, the papal-appointed Apostolic Administrator for the Archdiocese of Agana, with all the administrative authority of a bishop, pursuant to Article 1 of the NCW Statutes, can require the NCW to do or not do whatever he sees fit.

The bishop's role and authority is further emphasized - and precisely relative to the NCW's celebration of the Easter Vigil - in Art. 21 §2:

...the neocatechumens solemnly renew their baptismal promises in the Paschal Vigil presided over by the bishop...

So, if the NCW is celebrating the Easter Vigil in their "small groups" then just how is "the bishop" to preside over all of "the neocatechumens solemnly renew(ing) their baptismal promises in the Paschal Vigil?"

Obviously, the subject statute presumes absolute attendance and participation in the Easter Vigil as presided over by the diocesan bishop (or his canonically appointed substitute) which can only be (normally) at the diocesan cathedral.

Meanwhile, as Chuck White demonstrates, the Neocats' own "pope," Kiko Arguello, commands "his people" to not only avoid the cathedral, the bishop, and even the parish church, but to celebrate the Paschal Vigil in their homes. See: Sprinting Towards Schism

The authority of the bishop, as set forth in the NCW Statutes, also speaks to The Diana's conclusion at the end of her retaliatory post:

The NCW received its instruction and interpretation from the Holy See since the approval of its Statutes. And the NCW recognize only Pope Francis...not pope Tim.

Once again, as so often in the past, The Diana (and whoever backs her) refuses to acknowledge the plain meaning of the text of the NCW Statutes which clearly set forth the authority of the diocesan bishop relative to the governance of the NCW and NOT the pope - who, in his capacity as a bishop, is only the bishop of the Diocese of Rome.

And Finally

Finally, The Diana says this:

In the same way, just because one does not see "small-group celebrations of the Easter Vigil" in the Statutes does not mean that we should not celebrate it in small groups. The NCW have been saying all along that we are allowed to celebrate the Easter Vigil in small groups, and it was that document from the Episcopal Council of the Rome Diocese who interpreted the approved Statutes in that way. So, why should one listen to Tim Rohr?

As noted in my initial post, while the NCW has "been saying all along that we are allowed to celebrate the Easter Vigil in small groups," the fact is that it - the NCW in Guam - doesn't. And it didn't even before Fr. Romy's recent directive. Instead, the NCW in Guam has historically gathered all the communities together for a single "large-group" celebration of the Paschal Vigil, albeit in their own unconsecrated space.

So "why should one listen to Tim Rohr?" Well because Tim Rohr does not say anything that the NCW Statutes don't already say. The NCW leadership just can't keep track of its fabrications. And I do. It's not hard.

Meanwhile, thank you for Diana for the bump up in pageviews. Please reply. Yours Always. Tim

INNUMERABLE (NCW) RED FLAGS

Posted by Tim Rohr

Copying here an important comment from Chuck White:

There are innumerable red flags about this group (the NCW) of which every bishop should be aware. For example, here is a list of some of the the most egregious instances of Kiko employing “eisegesis”, an interpretation of Scripture that expresses one’s own ideas and biases rather than the meaning of the text. In most of these cases, Kiko contradicts the interpretation of a Church Father:

BUT WHY DON'T MORE BISHOPS SPEAK UP?

Posted by Tim

Today is the feast of Saint Eusebius of Vercelli, Bishop. The note in the Breviary says that "he worked tirelessly against the Arians for the restoration of the faith." His Catholic.org bio notes that Arianism is a "heresy which never died out."

Indeed, it has not, in fact, it is probably more powerful than ever, just more subtle than in the time of Eusebius (4th century) when more than half the world's bishops embraced it.

The most visible descendants of Arius (a priest who taught the heresy) are the Witnesses of Jehovah, Iglesia ni Cristo, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints (Mormons).

All of the above religions are amongst the fastest growing religions in the world, and all three teach that Jesus is not God, or more precisely, that he is not equal to, or as our Creed states it: "consubstantial with the Father.

ON THE "APPROVAL" OF THE NEOCATS

It is interesting that the Neocats are very quiet on everything that is going against them. Of course, we know they operate in secrecy, because they are not Catholic, though they want us to believe that they are. But for them to debunk what we are doing, they have nothing but, "We have been approved by three popes and umpteen cardinals and archbishops." It's really more like, "We bought our way into the Church so we can take it over. Sorry, Jack! LFM and CCOG. Guam's JungleWatch Dog!

This comment reminded me of something I have been intending to write about the so-called "approval" of the neocats by popes, bishops, etc.

Kiko Arguello, in demanding that his movement not be labeled a "movement," set up the path to his own destruction. I will explain.

OUR PRIEST?

Posted by Tim

Some have taken exception to this announcement in the San Vicente bulletin since it gives the impression that James Arriola went away to a seminary in Miami, was ordained, and has now returned home. And of course that is not the case.

Arriola did not just go away to study at an off-island seminary, he left this diocese to study, live, work, and be ordained for the diocese of Miami. Therefore he is not "our" priest.

But no so fast. Arriola is a neocat. And in the neocat world nothing is what it seems. Arriola is not only not a priest of this diocese, when it comes down to it, he is not a priest of the diocese of Miami either.

He is first a neocat. And neocats always belong to their community. And since Arriola's community is in Barrigada, he is first a member of that community for life before he is anything else, including a priest for the diocese of Miami.

Thus, from the neocat perspective, the announcement is correct. He is "our own" to the neocats, the same way Presbyter Alberto, who is supposedly "our pastor" to the people of Agat, abandoned the people of Agat during Holy Week a couple years ago to celebrate it with his community in the Canary Islands.

The announcement, like neocat theology, traffics in half truths, without which the neocats would never survive. It says "his parish." Of course it's not his parish. Arriola has been assigned to a parish in "his" diocese of Miami. It's a half truth.

It's also a half truth to even say that he is from the Barrigada parish. The neocats do not recognize "the parish." To them, parish-based Catholicism is dead and is to be replaced by the Kiko-community model.

As a member of one of those communities, Arriola did not belong to the parish, he belonged to the community. The community just happened to be attached to the Barrigada parish, but only insofar as it could suck off its resources as every other neocat community does.

So why is he here? Arriola left Guam purposely. He joined another diocese purposely. He chose to be ordained in another diocese purposely. He chose NOT to be a priest of the Archdiocese of Agana, so why are we celebrating him as one?

True, as a neocat, Arriola was probably ordered to go to Miami by his neocat hierarchy. But it was still his choice. No, what Arriola is doing here is what Apuron did for all his newly ordained RMS presybter boys on our dime: a victory tour. And over the many years he did this, it probably cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars.

But beyond this mess, we can be certain that as a neocat he has no respect for the bishop. To be sure, his victory tour which includes celebrating Mass, was organized and announced without any consideration of the requirement of canon law. A priest cannot just show up in a diocese in which he is not incardinated and celebrate Mass publicly. He must have the permission of the bishop of the diocese he is visiting.

And while I understand the matter has been brought to the attention of Archbishop Byrnes and Arriola's Mass has been approved, to be sure, any permission procured was AFTER the fact since Arriola's arrival and schedule has been made known now ever since his ordination in Miami on May 13.

By the way, what is not announced is that he will be doing, and probably already has done (since he has been here for several days), a Saturday night "eucharist" with his Barrigada neocat community, the only people in Guam who can actually say "our priest."

BISHOP ATHANASIUS SCHNEIDER: THE NCW IS A JEWISH-PROTESTANT HERESY

Also:

Mr. Fülep: While the tradition is persecuted, there are some new modern movements which are highly supported. One of them is the community of Kiko. What is your opinion about the Neocatechumenal Way?

His Excellency Bishop Schneider: To speak openly: It is a Trojan horse in the Church. I know them very well because I was an episcopal delegate for them for several years in Kazakhstan in Karaganda. And I assisted their Masses and meetings and I read the writings of Kiko, their founder, so I know them well. When I speak openly without diplomacy, I have to state: The Neocathecumenate is a Protestant-Jewish[12] community inside the Church with a Catholic decoration only. The most dangerous aspect is regarding the Eucharist, because the Eucharist is the heart of the Church. When the heart is in a bad way, the whole body is in a bad way. For the Neocatechumenate, the Eucharist is primarily a fraternal banquet. This is a Protestant, a typically Lutheran attitude.[13] They reject the idea and the teaching of the Eucharist as a true sacrifice. They even hold that the traditional teaching of, and belief in, the Eucharist as a sacrifice is not Christian but pagan.[14] This is completely absurd, this is typically Lutheran, Protestant. During their liturgies of the Eucharist they treat the Most Holy Sacrament in such a banal manner, that it sometimes becomes horrible.[15] They sit while receiving Holy Communion, and then they lose the fragments because they do not take care of them, and after Communion they dance instead of praying and adoring Jesus in silence. This is really worldly and pagan, naturalistic.

Mr. Fülep: The problem may be not just practical…

His Excellency Bishop Schneider: The second danger is their ideology. The main idea of the Neocathecumenate according their founder Kiko Argüello is the following: the Church had an ideal life only until Constantine in the 4th century, only this was effectively the real Church. And with Constantine the Church started to degenerate: doctrinal degeneration, liturgical and moral degeneration.[16] And the Church reached the rock bottom of this degeneration of doctrine and liturgy with the decrees of the Council of Trent. However, contrary to his opinion, the opposite is true: this was one of the highlights of the history of the Church because of the clarity of doctrine and discipline. According to Kiko, the dark age of the Church lasted from the 4th century until the Second Vatican Council. It was only with Vatican Council II that light came into the Church. This is heresy because this is to say that the Holy Spirit abandoned the Church. And this is really sectarian and very much in line with Martin Luther, who said that until him the Church had been in darkness and it was only through him that there was light in the Church. The position of Kiko is fundamentally the same only that Kiko postulates the dark time of the Church from Constantine to Vatican II. So they misinterpret the Second Vatican Council. They say that they are apostles of Vatican II. Thus they justify all their heretical practices and teachings with Vatican II. This is a grave abuse.

Mr. Fülep: How could this community be officially admitted by the Church?

His Excellency Bishop Schneider: This is another tragedy. They established a powerful lobby in the Vatican at least thirty years ago. And there is another deception: at many events they present very many fruits of conversion and many vocations to the bishops. A lot of bishops are blinded by the fruits, and they don’t see the errors, and don’t examine them. They have large families, they have a lot of children, and they have a high moral standard in family life. This is, of course, a good result. However, there is also a kind of exaggerated behaviour to press the families to get a maximum number of children. This is not healthy. And they say, we are accepting Humanae Vitae,[17] and this is, of course, good. But in the end this is an illusion, because there are also quite a lot of Protestant groups today in the world with a high moral standard, who also have a great number of children, and who also go and protest against the gender ideology, homosexuality, and who also accept Humanae Vitae. But, for me, this is not a decisive criterion of truth! There are also a lot of Protestant communities who convert a lot of sinners, people who lived with addictions such as alcoholism and drugs. So the fruit of conversions is not a decisive criterion for me and I will not invite this good Protestant group which converts sinners and has a lot of children to my diocese to engage in apostolate. This is the illusion of many bishops, who are blinded by the so-called fruits.

Mr. Fülep: What is the quoin stone of doctrine?

His Excellency Bishop Schneider: The doctrine of the Eucharist. This is the heart. It is an error to look first at the fruits and ignore or not take care of doctrine and liturgy. I am sure that there will come the time when the Church objectively examines this organisation in depth without the pressure of the lobbies of the Neocathecumenal Way, and their errors in doctrine and liturgy will truly come out.

FINALLY, A REVIEW!

THEY LIE, THEY LIE, THEY LIE, THEY LIE

What this is of course is an admission that The Diana et al. have been LYING to their followers for years about the "permission" to distribute and receive Holy Communion in a manner different that what is required by the Church.

Notice that neither in this Diana-blurb or the Zoltan-blurb do they make mention of the very center of Archbishop Byrnes' directive which is their illicit communion rite. The do not mention this because they intend to ignore the instruction.

THE CATHEDRAL RECTOR'S VALENTINE'S DAY MISSIVE AND WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW

Let us examine the key statements in the Cathedral Rector's February 14 missive to the Cathedral parish relative to the celebration of Mass:

"All Masses must be celebrated with the Roman Missal with adherence to the letter and spirit of its General Instructions or GIRM."

"Some groups may have been given special permission (also known as an indult) by Rome to change certain parts of the Mass. If your group falls within this category, please submit such permission to me before Ash Wednesday so that we can all be advised. Also note that all indults must have a start date and specifically state if it has an expiration date or is permanent/ongoing."

Of course there are not "some groups," there is only one "group": the Neocatechumenal Way. The NCW claims to have special permission to "change certain parts of the Mass." We will examine those in a minute. But first we can expect the NCW to avoid the missive by resorting to any of the following:

EXCUSE ME. MAY I ASK A QUESTION?

Posted by Chuck White

It's about time for the third night of Neocatechumenal catechesis at Guam's Agana Cathedral Basilica, and do you know what that means?  It means that it's time for the catechists to parrot Kiko Arguello's screed against the big, bad, bogeyman, "natural religiosity."  One is not normally allowed to ask questions at such sessions, but here are few you could try to get in, if only to rock the boat a bit.  Read more.

WHO WILL FIGHT THIS BULL?

Posted by LaPaz, Jungle Watch Correspondant from Spain.

Dear readers of Jungle Watch:

I have found an interesting old post -2013- which I want to translate for you, for your bishop -just in case he feels the need of information and reflection- and of course for those NCW's members who perceive a squeak in their conscience.

This post was the answer to one neocatechumenal member who wrote a commentary. I do not know exactly what he said, it is does not matter at all, the really interesting thing here was, as I said, the answer from the author of the blog, called Infocaótica (a word game with info-, information, and caótica, which means chaotic, owned by traditionalist catholics).

TRICKY DICK AND HIS IRRESPONSIBLE RESPONSE - PART 6 - AND, BY THE WAY, HON, WE ARE DOWN TO 28 DAYS

Posted by Tim Rohr

Oh shucks, Tricky Dick was only off by a year. Instead of meeting with the bishops of Oceania on December 5, 1999, it was actually 1998:

ADDRESS OF THE HOLY FATHER POPE JOHN PAUL II TO THE BISHOPS OF THE PACIFIC ON THEIR "AD LIMINA" VISIT, 5 December 1998

But not only did Tricky Dick get the year wrong, he got the content wrong too.

Tricky Dick said: To form presbyters of the “New Evangelization” is not a characteristic of the Neocatechumenal Way, as is made clear by the St. Pope John Paul II’s Ad Limina message to CEPAC (Dec. 5, 1999).

Actually, the pope's address says nothing about the Neocatechumenal Way or even about the formation of presbyters - you will note that the pope does NOT use that word. Rather the pope said this:

ANOTHER BLACK SPOT ON INMACULATE KIKO

Posted by LaPaz, Jungle Watch Correspondent from Spain.

Today I bring the translation of a sad testimony of a neocatechumenal young woman written on a Facebook group and published by Valentina Giusti, a former member and active writter in Neocatecumenali's blog.

"The story told, no more sad and deplorable than other stories of abuses in the so-called 'safe places' frequented by children (schools, sports groups, parish, family), it is interesting for us because it confirms how, inside the neocatechumenal communities, not only does not seem to be activated any protection for young people and children, especially when they are involved, as in this case, with "catechists" from a certain level, but rather, when the victim is left alone, isolated, and also faulted by those who, in this case, were responsible for the Neocatechumenal Way and priests, who supposedly should have helped her and have removed the 'wolf' from the flock ...

WHO ARE YOU STRUGGLING AGAINST, KIKO?

Posted by LaPaz, Jungle Watch Correspondent from Spain.

As you know, Kiko starts every "new" year with a must convivence for any neocatechumenal of the world. That first convivence of the year is to tell his people the last news on NCW and to expose what does the NCW say about an specific matter, trying to cook a mix between the teachings of the catholic Church and the teachings of Kiko and Carmen and their 12 Kephas and the 72 Wise. For example, past years it was about sexual morality, education of children, Purgatory and Hell, etc.

The matter depends on current facts. This year, Kiko could have focused on Amoris Laetitia by Pope Francis, but as it seems it is quite boring to talk about ecology and things like that. Apparently, God sent Kiko the event of Carmen's death and, to seize the moment, Kiko has focused this 2016/17 convivence only for neocatechumenal propaganda.
