BREAKING

Deacon Steve Martinez removed as Sex Abuse Response Coordinator for Archdiocese of Agana. Replaced by Deacon Larry Claros.

Well now, that didn't take long, did it Archbishop? Will Deacon Larry be investigating the cases in which you have been named? Guess the "meeting" didn't go so well. You think Larry is going to cover your ___? John, are you seeing this? The gig is up. Time to leave town. Take Pius. Harold, too. It's going to all come out. It's time. You destroyed that family. How many others?

  1. Since Deacon Larry Claros is NCW he will do whatever the archbishop wants unthinkingly.

  2. Yes, not at all surprising. Deacon Steve Martinez REFUSES to be the lapdog for AAA.

How frustrating for AAA. He finds it hard to remove Deacon Steve from performing his Holy Order duties because he has complied with everything that is required of a permanent Deacon (and more!) and now AAA can only remove what is around Deacon Steve which are probably not as important as saving AAA's very soul.

Deacon Steve, what a wonderful opportunity AAA has provided for you in giving you less face-to-2 face time with AAA! It would be one more less thing to do with AAA and more time to spend with your Family and in prayer. AAA probably is not realizing that he is actually doing Deacon Steve Martinez a huge favor. Talk about shooting himself in the foot. Ouch!

So he is now not just publicly going after NON-NEO Priests, but going after NON-NEO Deacons as well. We've known this for a while now. AAA's theme: "NOT NEO, NOT GOOD!"

Glad you are not a lapdog for the Chancery Deacon Steve. I know and understand this has not been a very pleasant paradise of an island for you, your family, and the rest of us Catholic Faithfuls. MANY of us still heed your words of encouragement. You have alway been part of the family of the Catholic Faithfuls in my and my family's eyes and heart. We draw a lot of strength from you. Peace and continue to stay strong!

  3. Well, deacon I tried to indirectly warn you at the dinner in Shangri La Hotel a few years ago when you and your wife were present at the table. And yes, what you heard that night is already in Rome.

  5. John, the old fool has appointed a NEO deacon to work for the protection of children. What will Larry do when the truth is revealed. something is very wrong in the chancery today.

  6. It doesn't surprise me at all that Deacon Steve was removed as the Sex Abuse Response Coordinator (SARC) and replaced by Deacon Claros who will totally and unquestionably carry out Apuron's bidding. It's my understanding that Deacon Steve confronted Apuron about his failure to comply with the Archdiocese sex abuse policy pertaining to Fr. Wadeson and the screening and background checks that should be done with the RMS seminarians. Deacon Steve appropriately suggested that the Sex Abuse Review Board be called to meet and address identified concerns. Of course Apuron will not accept being challenged by anyone, especially a lowly deacon. How dare you Deacon Martinez question my authority!! I think you need to be replaced and replaced you shall.

It is clearly apparent that Archbishop Apuron will not permit any process or procedure to take place that would in anyway negatively reflect on his "supreme position."

  11. So let me get this. Deacon Steve's position sounds like the person in charge of handling, in the beginning, all accusations of sexual abuse involving the clergy. That's an important job. Now the Archbishop appointed Deacon Steve to that position some years ago and all these years didn't have a problem that Deacon Steve has that job. Why now all of a sudden Archbishop thinks its a problem Deacon Steve has that title? What changed? What happened recently? Why replace Deacon Steve with a Neo deacon AND a chancery employee? Looks to me like the Archbishop is preparing for something and wants the person with this position to be one of his friends. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  12. It is more likely than not that there is no need to "correct" you.

  13. You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pought I'm telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town. He sees you when your sleeping, he know when your awake, he knows if you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake, Oh you better watch out!

  14. Deacon Steve was removed because by performing his duties, he was making Apuron uncomfortable. It is not a coincidence that he was removed on the very same day that two men went to see Apuron about how Apuron's behavior towards a member of the family has destroyed that family. After all these years, it is finally coming out. Apuron has to account for the great and horrible sin he has committed. I also understand that someone in San Fran also has the goods on Fr. Adrian with pictures and all. Oh my, this is what happens when you push, abuse, and abuse. People have no choice but to push back.

  15. I'm guessing that, along with Deacon Steve Martinez, the NON-NCW members of the Sex Abuse Review Board will be replaced as well. AAA can't risk leaving any cases that might involve him in the hands of Judases, can he? He must cover ALL his bases.

  18. To Deacon Larry Claros: You serve at the pleasure of the Archbishop. He is your employer. If credible accusations of abuse are lodged against your employer, you must recuse yourself from any investigations relating to those accusations. If you do not, and if you lie or cover up on his behalf, the victims' counsel will chew you up and spit you out. This is a warning.

    1. Think about it, Little Larry. This is a warning. A warning well worth your due consideration and prayer. Pope Francis has called out clerical careerists, remember.

    2. Folks, let's not come down too heavy on Larry. He is simply just another victim, and an unsuspecting one at that. (Welcome to the club of victims, Larry - Fr Blockley, Fr Adversario (?), Fr Gofigan, Msgr Benavente, Finance Council members, Cemetery Board members, Deacon Martinez, perhaps others). How conniving this AAA is! Larry is a good man (and I have always admired you, Larry). For all we know, Larry may have been put in an un-comprising situation. "Accept the appointment, Larry, or face a more arduous closure". Of course, Deacon Martinez had to go. The fire is coming closer and closer to home base, and AAA has to put a barrier - and Larry, being the obedient servant, just had to bow.

Larry, one advice - while there is still time. Tender your resignation to the assignment while there is still time. You are just being used as a pawn in his game of cat and mouse, and the cat is coming closer. Unless you can stand up to your boss, better to not be a part of his scheme than to be dragged into the quagmire.

On the other hand, if you have the fortitude to stand up to the truth - at any cost - you just might turn out to be an asset, in which case AAA just bought himself a boomerang. I pray for you, my friend. As I heard this morning at EWTN (quoting Bishop Sheen): "Truth is truth, even though nobody believes it; and wrong is wrong, even though everybody believes it".

God bless you, Larry, my friend. May the spirit of fortitude and the strength of a Goliath be with you. Do your job well, with truth ONLY as your guide.

PS: Whisper to your boss: "Better quit now, while you're somewhat ahead!" Remind him of the old saying: "You can't fire me; I quit!"

    3. @9:40 Larry, a victim? I don't think so. He is part of that inner circle together with AAA, David, and Adrian.

  19. I have to give credit to Deacon Steve for his continual participation at the 9:30 AM Mass today despite his treatment. Attendance today has pitiful at the Cathedral.

    1. Tony moving fast...must really be scared. A friend called me this morning and she decided to skip her usual 930am mass so went early, at 545am. Deacon Larry was the deacon for the first time at Agana this morning with Tony.

Plus apparently they are already discussing strategy of avoiding the truth. They were also seen at Shirley's for breakfast. Guess they are best pals now...so much for objectivity. If Tony can he will buy them. If they start to stray or feel compelled to speak the truth, he gets rid of them.

I guess the next step is to have Deacon Larry move to the 930 mass and get rid of Deacon Steve completely. Don't worry Deacon, that might be the best thing to happen.

    2. Guess Archie drove himself to Shirley's since Harold is away!!! Much better with Harold at your left hand than Deacon Steve at your right hand, huh, Tony? What did Archie have for breakfast, egg whites? BTW, what did folks at Agana Heights ask ARchie about Yona property? Anyone remember?

  20. How about that shameless display of a photo op in the Umatuna today? A feeble attempt to "wag the dog" at best.

    1. 1:23PM..what do you expect? Haven't you notice lately that the U Matuna Si Yu'us has been plastered with the AAA's picture? He needs documentation that he is doing the shepherding to the flock! Looks good for the Nuncio's next visit and Rome!

  21. Did anybody notice that the appointment of Deacon Larry Claros to succeed Deacon Steve Martinez as Sexual Response Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Agana was NOT published as an official "Aviso" in the Umatuna, as is usually the case whenever a member of the clergy (includes deacons) is assigned/re-assigned to another place/position.

Was this an oversight, or done on purpose so that the Catholics of Guam are left officially UNAWARE that something is brewing with the issue of clergy sexual abuse. What they don't know won't hurt 'em syndrome? No need to bring up the subject? True, there was an official letter from AAA (Prot. 2014-056) personally to Deacon Claros, but cc only to the Vicar General, Board members, and Legal Counsel. Are these people the only ones suppose to know? What happened to transparency to the Catholic Faithful? Aren't we suppose to know? Whazzup? Any answer from the Hill? Or is silence (their modus operandi) going to be our only MYOB response? HMMMM. Interesting!

    1. There was never transparency at the chancery. Let's not forget they also did not publish the new cemetery board members and the appointment of Jackie Terlaje as AAA's spokesperson on the umatuna either. AAA wants to make sure we would not be inform of anything that goes on in this diocese.
