NO WORDS. SMH.

A report from last night's "prayer meeting."

  1. Went to the prayer service last night. Prayers that were selected seem to set the stage for a Neo brainwashing convivence, "Your word, O Lord, is the lantern to light our way." Hon says Guam culture expects everything fast, and that we do not determine the pace of God. Yeah, right. God made the whole world in six days, and Hon's been here for three weeks now and very little has been done to de-Apuronize our Church. Hon is here to carry out what he said last year. His mission's priority is unity. Well, so far he has not done well. Hon tells us to remember our common desire: Be One with the Lord. Also to deepen our faith in our Bishop. What? A pedophile? Is Hon serious? Then Hon appears to apologize to the Clergy saying that his request for their resignation was not intended to disrupt the diocese (The Presbyters must have registered a complaint). Hon also tells the Clergy, "You may have the knowledge; but I have the power." Continuing, he says that unity is not fast food. I was not impressed or convinced that he will improve the situation. Hon, reach out to Apuron's victims, return the Yona property, restore our priests, defrock Apuron, remove Presbyters from our parishes (or get them better trained), and de-Apuronize the Church (includes Cristobal, Quitugua, Pius, Uduvaldo, and cohorts). Then maybe, we will be convinced that you have the power are to foster unity. We're moving fast. Civil court in a few weeks, criminal court in a few months, and restoration of our Church in a few years. Catch up if you can.
Remember these. I'll come back to them:

  • Hon says Guam culture expects everything fast, and that we do not determine the pace of God.
  • His mission's priority is unity.
  • Hon tells us to remember our common desire: Be One with the Lord.
  • Also to deepen our faith in our Bishop
  • Hon also tells the Clergy, "You may have the knowledge; but I have the power."
  • Continuing, he says that unity is not fast food.

If Hon really did say these things then it's time to change our signs. I'll be back.

  1. Yes true, God created 7 days but Hon is a human being, not a God, so do you. Give him a chance to solve the problem.

    1. That's crap. If a fireman shows up to save your burning house but first takes a doughnut break all in the name of "it takes time to put out a fire," you'd be freaking out. No excuses. He blew it, plain and simple.

And why should we rise up this way? Because the Pope himself said that the victims are the first priority. Hon has done the opposite. Whatever, pal.

PS Get your Scriptures straight. God created in six, then rested on the seventh. You neos kill me--what you should know but don't could fill a book.

  2. Bows to you Archbishop Savio ... Your five points were heard clearly despite the difficult acoustics at the Basilica. Your attempt at a subtle scolding could not have been more crystal. Just keep in mind, as you state that the clergy has the knowledge but you have the power, just know that the clergy isn't the only entity that makes up this and any Archdiocese. We lay people are also a part of this Church. Our knowledge is power and just as pertinent if not more so in regards to the issues that divide our church - yes, our church, a divided church. It's not just a measly "1%" of us and most certainly not just a mere matter of differing opinion that has kept our church from enjoying the fruits of your sought after mission of "unity." Perhaps after you're done with this awkward reprimanding dance of yours, you will finally sit down and talk with us in seriousness.

Our ability to transmit the news with expediency has nothing to do with disrespecting a "pace" but as a long overdue response and resolve in holding the hierarchy accountable to the harm they have levied on us for decades. It's taken over 40 years for this Archdiocese to face the reality of the abuse that occurred in Agat. Not because of a determined "pace" but because of a deathly poisonous silence that stifled a community and destroyed the innocent. You say that faith is what we need but what you don't seem to understand is that it's through faith and hope by the grace of God that has allowed us to remain in the Church as Catholics, despite the division. Now what our hurting Church needs is for you to act as the Apostolic Administrator as Pope Francis had sent you, and to deal urgently with the division and issues in our Archdiocese. Pope Francis is the one who set that pace thus we are going to hold you accountable to that pace.

    1. AB....if you're an administrator, please do your job that you were sent to do. I truely can understand your hesitance but this really is a no brainier. You've heard testimony....even as far a a year ago, from people of the Catholic faith on Guam. The archbishop before you asked the people of the church, "what division?", when he was doing his so-called pastoral visits. You yourself, AB Savio, acknowledge there a division. You also know who are behind this division but yet choose to "wait and see" what will happen. THERE WILL BE NO PEACE OR UNITY AS LONG AS THIS CANCER CALLED NEO IS FESTERING WITH THE GOOD CATHOLIC PEOPLE of our island. Get rid of this filth and Peace will reign again.

  3. Hon, do not show how flea-minded you are. We do not want fast food paced changes. We want swift justice. There is quite a difference!!!

Our priority is to get apuron out. Get the neo out. Then Unity. Get it right!!!

    2. It looks like the neos are here to stay and if that is the case then let them built their own Church and leave us be. The NEO CCDs teachings resulted in arguments between students and their elders. Our kids are being brain wash by these NEO instructors.

    3. If the NEOs say that catholics don't read the bible, then why is it that only a select group are being taught and not the church as a whole? That's like saying the Pope doesn't read the bible. Sounds like born again Christians infiltrating our church to force feed their ideology and interpretation of the bible to us.

  4. No prayers for the sex abuse victims but special mention of "our bishop, an apparent reference to Apuron. I guess we need to deepen our Faith in Apuron so that we can just accept the fact that he needed to rape boys for a godly reason. Oh my. With Bibi, Louis, Luis, Antonio, and other priests joining in the fray, it looks like Guam will be the Spotlight of the Pacific.

  5. There are many issues that need attention and action but it is impossible to do everything immediately. We understand this. How about setting priorities.

    1. Stop any and all abuse by the clergy.
    2. Reach out to all victims of abuse.
    3. Laicize Apuron.
    4. Restore Msgr. James and Fr. Paul.
    5. Return Yona property to the patrimony of the archdiocese.

Are there valid reasons these issues have not been resolved? We need to know. Some things can't wait. "Justice delayed is justice denied."

    1. Andrew, there are VERY VALID REASONS.
1-3 Handled by the Vatican. And surely if the victims have "waited" 29-40 yrs to come forth w/their sexual abuse allegations they can wait for the Vatican going through trial, as we speak, with Archbishop Apuron. It shouldn't be long.
      4. Re: Msgr B and Fr Paul - somethings are better left unsaid. In other words "Let sleeping dogs" ly . To disclose a response to this issue would maybe do more harm than good to these individuals.

  6. Archbishop Hon, please recognize that your desire for unity cannot succeed unless you remove the roots of the scandal that had rocked this archdiocese to its core. Being the Shepard you are, I can recognize your desire for forgiving the sins of Apuron as Christ has taught us to forgive our enemies. However, you still have a duty to care for the least of our brothers, especially those who have been injured or harmed and to make them whole again. Sadly, you have demonstrated a bias for one and not for the other. I'm praying for you instead of Apuron as he's made his choice already.

  7. AB Hon presided over the 10:00 mass today at Santa Barbara. His homily was quite long, but the salient points that I do remember include:

    1) We live in a culture that is fast. He didn't limit it to Guam. We expect everything to be done quickly.
    2) We should strive for peace and unity.
    3) The blogs and news station knew about his announcement regarding Fr. Jeff & Fr. Lito before it was officially announced.
    4) The blogs are encouraging false barriers.

I wish I had taken notes, but quite frankly, it was a struggle to understand him (and stay awake).

From what I know, he wanted to celebrate mass where there are actually people in attendance. Cathedral doesn't seem to be packing them in. No wonder about that. He was actually well received, and many in the congregation greeted him after mass.

    1. AB Hon would more likely celebrate Agat Fiesta (Our Lady Of Mount Carmel) I believe on the 16th of July. It would be something if the Laity and CCOG come out with their signs since it is the place the abuse happened with our Altar Boys. And, the old priest house is still there and AB Hon will actually be able to see the place Apuron did his sick sex abuse crime. There are a lot of NEO'S from down there that come out and those from RMS that show up because they are invited by Alberto. The last fiesta when it was suggested to have the Laity Movement be down there Alberto had a fit nd started asking why would they want to do that. He hates scenes but talks. Come on Doris, Roland, Walter and Roy. Everyone has seen you come out publicly on T.V., news etc. so let the parishioners see you out there.

  8. Attended 5 PM mass at Tamuning Church, Fr. Paul presiding, co-celebrated by Delegate of the Administrator, Fr. Jeff San Nicolas. As part of the Homily, Fr. Jeff told the congregation that it is important to focus on mending relationships before any re-conciliation or unity can take place, and that he was there to support Fr. Paul. I am guessing that as the acting VG he is reaching out to Fr. Paul, Very humble gesture following his recent appointment. I am wondering what he means by supporting Fr. Paul? It is important for the Church to acknowledge that Fr. Paul was wronged in the way Apuron mis-treated him, and that some effort from Hon the leader of the Catholic Church to acknowledge and make good on the wrong would be seen as a step forward to Hon's reconciliation and unity efforts. But Fr. Jeff, there is also the serious matter of the victims of sexual abuse, will you be addressing this matter also in your new capacity? The church is watching closely in anticipation.

    2. Fr. Jeff your effort to support Fr. Paul, while admirable, lacks substance. You are asking the faithful to focus on mending relationships to foster reconciliation and unity. Your words would be relevant if you were speaking to Apurun, AB Hon and the clergy.
I sincerely hope that none of the victims were in the pews. Where is your compassion? Have you met with them to offer consolation and prayers? I sincerely hope that you will not succumb to the "KAKA" that consumes the "Hill". To those entrusted with "power" comes great responsibility. The opportunity is before you to serve God or Kiko.

    3. Was at St Anthony for the 7.00p mass. No Father Jeff then.

Fr. Paul's homily was about the need for priests to serve people, stay humble, and not lord over their parishes.
The fact that priests need to move to new duties at least every 7 years.
A lot of explaining of the gospel of the day and what it meant for us in our daily lives as Catholics.
Very pastoral but right on point explaining what people should expect and demand from the clergy.
By the nods, couples holding each others and some comments you could tell it was right on target.
The lines at the end of Mass were long and personal.

A lot more of what you should expect from a pastoral Bishop, that of a priest "in residence".
Definitely less rambling and uhh, that the local pastor.
The contrast cannot be more obvious.

Happy independance day to you all...

  9. Ouch! Guam's culture is fast and we do not determine the pace of God. But he does? Is it because he has the power? This from the man who declared that these demonstrations would die down or be over in two weeks! Well, it has been three weeks and the crowds are growing larger!

I've said it before and will say it again. The apostolic administrator has no experience being the head of a diocese. Calling the chancery office a curia will not turn it into a vatican congregation where he issues directions and edicts and beutifully written reports will ensue. He is administering an archdiocese where real people with real issues reside. In the parlance of commerce, his customers are the laity and they expect their dignity as persons to be honored. The only way he could get closer to the people is at the parish level. But the buck stops at his office and he is not listening!

Abp. Hon's avoidance of pastoral care of the victims/survivors, and the issues we have brought up time and again is only giving credence to the suspicion that he really is just a placeholder for Apuron. Perhaps to give him time to attend World Youth Day while Hon "fixes" his fractured archdiocese. By the way, we should warn the young attendees that an accused sexual predator is on the loose and will be in their midst.

Onward Catholic soldiers! Sts. Catherine of Sienna, Joan of Arc, Athanasius, pray for us. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

  10. Where are the clergy? Does anyone one of the cloth have the balls to address and approach the victims? That is the mandate set forth by the holy father. AB Savio isn't doing it. None that I've seen.....or....I'm I mistaken? As far as AB Savio is concerned, he wants unity and peace, just remember.....this whole thing could've been resolved by AB Savio...and quite quickly but the delay is cause more of a rupture in the thread.
