LET'S MEET. RIGHT.

Archbishop Apuron to anonymous group: Let's meet

The leader of Guam's Catholic church, Archbishop Anthony Apuron, wants to meet with the group that's calling for the Archdiocese of Agana to publicly disclose the church's finances.

Here's my reply on the comments to the PDN article:
Ummmmm, really? Why not just do the right thing, Archbishop? What is there to hide? Why can't you just publish the financial statements like every other U.S. diocese?

So there's your answer people. Now it's your turn.

NOTE: It's an interesting reply. In fact it was the same reply that I posed to the secret committee that asked me to read a prepared statement to the Media when you were trying to throw S.N.A.P. off your trail in 2010. Shall I name the people at that meeting, Archbishop? Shall I tell you about the stunned response when I suggested that we should just meet with S.N.A.P. and call their bluff because we had nothing to hide? Or so I thought! Yah. Let's meet. Right.

  1. They won't agree...not worth it yet.

  2. What is there to meet about? The request from the group is pretty straight forward and not extraordianary. Besides, the best way to meet this group is to just simply attend Sunday mass.

  3. There is no need for lay people to be transparent about the money they donate. There is a need for the arch diocese to be transparent about the donations they receive.

  4. Why the need to meet? What would a meeting accomplish when the request is straight forward? The intent of the meeting could only be to gain some kind of upper hand on the Archbishop's part. The persons are anonymous out of fear of retribution, and it doesn't matter if it is 2 or 100,000 people supporting the ad; it is a valid and justifiable request. Declining the Archbishops request does nothing to discredit the group, if he chooses to use that angle, because again, it is a valid request.

I recommend that they decline his invitation. Nothing good can come as a result of meeting with him. They will spin the facts, meeting or no meeting, but meeting in person might give him the opportunity to target certain individuals with retribution, bribery or defamation.

  5. Why is it always on the Archbishop's terms? PUBLISH the report!

  6. Meet? Absolutely! But after the audit findings are published.

  7. Do not meet archbishop he will abuse and threaten you in his usual style. Concerned Catholics keep a distance from him. Demand in the media immediate release of the audit report. Do not meet with him. He must publish as requested. Other announcements in pdn may otherwise continue.

    1. Abuse and threaten? I believe it. That also depend$$ who you are, though.

  8. Don't ask questions. Obey the Archbishop. Cardinal Arinze said so. Sincerely, Diana (concelebrant)

  9. So the Archbishop wants to meet with the Concerned Catholics of Guam? Really Archbishop? Really??? I may not be a member of the Concerned Catholics of Guam Committee but I am definitely a Concerned Catholic. Would you like to meet all of us concerned catholics? Name a time and place and WE will ALL show up! Don't forget to bring the audit reports along with you and be prepared to answer our questions. No excuses Archbishop.

By the way Arch, I think it is really dumb of you to ask to meet the people who are requesting an audit report when it is the very same people who are sitting on the pews in all the churches on this island of Guam. The very same people who have been generously contributing to the collection plate at the masses they attend. The very same people who want to know what you have been doing with the money. And YOU want to meet ALL OF US? Yes Arch, we who sit on the pews in every church on Guam are ALL VERY CONCERNED!

Now Archbishop, can you actually prove to any of us who isn't a concerned catholic on Guam??? Are YOU NOT a concerned catholic?

Arch, Ti manaigo si Yu'us or in other words...God is not sleeping!

  10. 10:17PM. Sorry to say but we have had enough! The truth needs to prevail as someone has stated!

For me if the Archbishop just stayed impartial where the NCW was concerned, I would have been inclined to accept, but he didn't. It was NEO THIS, NEO THAT, NEO WANTS NEO GETS!

So now I will support whatever Concerned Catholics want!

  11. Do recall what happened when a meeting was arranged for the archbishop to meet Fr. Paul. Fr. Paul had high expectations because he thought that his archbishop, the "father" in his vocation, was willing to again embrace him as a son. It was not to be. All the archbishop said was to to "cool' it and let Rome decide. I guess he wants to do the same thing to this group...Another SUCKER PUNCH!!!!!!! Doe the archbsihop think we are idiots?

  12. The archbishop's request for a meeting is a ruse, to deflect from the main point and thrust of the ad. He is trying to paint a picture of reconciliation when in fact all he is trying to do is to shift the limelight from him and his duties and responsibilities to the group. In other words, attack the messenger and hope the message(the request for disclosure) gets lost in the process. Such DECEPTION! Nothing new here.

  13. I hope the group sponsoring the ad is not misled by this latest trickery by the archbishop, Stick to the point. How would a meeting answer the request for disclosure? It will not. The archbishop is more concerned about who are the Tim Rohrs out there and hope he can buy them off. I mean, look at his record. After the Arinze fiasco, he tried to get people to lie for him. He ambushed Fr. Paul in a meeting(July 16th) and then proceeded afterwards to destroy his reputation with scurrilous and defamatory lies.

  14. The MEETING IS A SET-UP. Don't fall for it. I hope the Concerned Catholics takes out another ad and say: HEY ARCHIE: WE DIDN'T ASK FOR A MEETING. WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? JUST PUBLISH WHAT MOST OTHER DIOCESES ALREADY DO. THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE HERE! OR, ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DISCLOSURE?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think the archbishop is afraid of the disclosure because it will reveal how much money he pays himself and his Chancery buddies, especially his beloved NCW seminary.

  16. Arch needs to face the people he has damaged. Fr. Cristobal needs to answer to those he has also damaged. We will all meet with you so you can answer our questions. There not just financial. We want to know so much more . We want to know why you damaged seminarians priests and people with so much injustice.

    2. Not chicken shits! Now it is our turn to say NO SHOW! JUST PUBLISH THE AUDIT!

As Diana said, We don't have to know who she is, so the important thing is to OBEY!
Like us , the Archboshop does not have to know who we are, the important thing is to PUBLISH THE AUDIT!

I am going to start taking Diana's quotes and turn it around. This is one of 'em!

    3. Well done, Anonymous (July 4, 2014 at 8:50 AM) — I look forward to your future posts!!

My initial reaction to Anonymous at 7:01 AM was that he/she could only decode — not comprehend the context of — the words "don't meet." The words could have been interpreted as being written out of fear which is why 7:01 wrote "Scared huh?" It appears that 7:01 failed to understand that the words "don't meet" implied "Concerned Catholics of Guam, don't bother meeting with the Archbishop because it would just be a waste of time."

    1. And why are YOU afraid?

    2. Don't think Tim wants to lead anything in archdiocese. When all this is over he will return to his writing as a catholic apologist writing on the faith. Chancery became a distraction to many preventing them from doing the lords work because we had to give hours to research want the chancery is doing. To protect the future of our church. If not for Tim Rohr this archdiocese would have lost property and finances much greater. One day you will appreciate Tim Rohr believe me.

  20. Come on Adrian we want to see the audit .

  21. Do not meet with archbishop. Concerned Catholics . Demand he publish the audit then we meet him. May have to place further pdn announcements but I think concerned individuals will donate to this important cause to protect future of Guam. It is about protecting the finances of the local church from the archbishop and his group who are damaging the financial stability of archdiocese. Very clear we are in financial mess created by archbishop and his neo friend.

  22. Diana...tried to teach you the contraction you're. YOU ARE! you just can't learn. (We knew that). @7:22 am Has given you away. Tell the truth Adrian, YOU think "YOUR" the Church leader. All coming to a painful and arduous closure now. Hope YOUR not too upset.
