ARCHBISHOP VILLEGAS: HOMILY ABUSE CAN HARM SOULS

Bishop to priests: 'Stop the homily abuse'

'Long, winding, repetitious, irrelevant, unprepared homilies are signs of a sick spiritual life of the priest,' says Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas. 'Homily abuse can harm souls.'
This is the same archbishop who shut down the Neocatechumenal Way in his diocese and mandated the use of the Nicene Creed (which is rejected by Kiko).

  2. If you want to see homily abuse in action, listen to Michael's at the Cathedral. I don't call them priests anymore.

Gerald A. Taitano (April 4, 2015 at 7:01 AM), I have sat through more of Presbyter Michael Jucutan's pseudo-homilies than I care to recall. At my first "encounter" with his ramblings, the presbyter apologized at the end of the Mass, saying that if we did not understand his message, it wasn't our fault; it was his because he hadn't listened to the Spirit as closely as [he] should have.

I can count how many of them I have sat through on only one hand and they were … so … uh, uh … so … uh … Spirit drivenNOT!!

    3. Totally agree about Fr. Mike Jucatan. He needs some really serious help with his homilies. And to think he was assigned immediately to the Agana Cathedral Basilica. He must have been one of the star performers at the RMS. It shows their caliber.

  3. Why would the Nicene Creed be rejected by Kiko? I guess we are back at fighting Arianism on top of NEOism. Same smell, just different century.

Maybe Guam's NCW has made an "exception" to recite the Nicene Creed to pacify the local Catholic Faithfuls. It seems they can, they have their "own statutes".

The General Instructions of the Roman Missal (GIRM) based on Latin Rites, the Order of the Mass, is not up for debate or revision at the Archdiocese level. I am not sure what part the NCW does not understand about the GIRM. There are MANY language versions of the GIRM, not sure if Kiko has their GIRM version. My guess, probably so with "their revision" that is probably approved, "somewhere". Guess we need to hunt for it like Easter Eggs, huh? I know that we do our best to follow the GIRM that has been posted on the www.vatican.va website.

As for the Homily, the requirements are straightforward in the GIRM. The link to the full version of the GIRM is below from the www.vatican.va website:

    1. kiko rejects the nicene creed because his beliefs are more greek orthodox than roman catholic. Something about the Father with the Son, maybe Tim can elaborate better.
It was very evident at the Chrism mass, where the deacon(neo) wore the humeral veil to process the book of the gospels. Also I saw in this their theology of the book having equal value to the Blessed sacrament, hence kiko's funky tabernacle.

    2. Because it would mean they'd recite these words, " I believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church" and damned they be should they believe in anything or anyone but Kiko! Biba Katoliku!!

  4. This statement and other similar statements never fails to make my blood boil:

"I take this occasion to reaffirm my conviction that the Neocatechumenal Way, with its goal to bring people to fraternal communion and maturity of faith through the tripod of "Word of God-Liturgy-Community," is a gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church and society of our times. "

All the havoc caused by the NCW is definitely NOT from the Holy Spirit. Proof that the statement is FALSE!!

  5. I remember the incident when Jonathan Diaz took presbyter Mike to task after mass and gave him some pointers. Oh, and I will never forget when he started his homily mentioning John Travolta in the movie "Saturday Night Fever". Maybe it's because the Neos have their version of Saturday Night Fever here.

presbyter Mike should listen to Jonathan Diaz he might learn sound theology and humility from Johnathan. Thank God for people like Jonathan who are not afraid to speak the truth. if the homily is so poor I encourage members of the congregation to silently stand up during the homily in protest . Say nothing just stand up as a sign you are not prepared to be insulted by these guys. The more people who silently stand up in the homily it becomes a powerful sign. when priest ends his crap then you sit down. If the whole congregation stands the presbyter will plan his homily next Sunday........ If not stand again........

    1. Or better yet record the whole thing and post here and on YouTube. Let the whole world be witness to his incomprehensible rants. Same for Apuron, his homilies rarely pertain to the gospel. Instead he tends to use the opportunity for self glorification.
