CHRISTIAN OR MARXIST? YOU CAN'T BE BOTH

"It’s unclear how many Christians are going along with the current neo-Marxist collective guilt movement out of fear, a misunderstanding of what they’ve signed onto, or an authentic conversion to the cause. What is clear, however, is that you can’t be a Christian and a Marxist at the same time—not without irresolvable contradictions."

You Can Be A Christian, You Can Be A Marxist, But You Can’t Be Both

  1. The ANTIFA-BLM anarchy is most clearly viewed through the neo-Marxist identity politics lens.

  2. This piece is very theoretical, yet makes an interesting empirical claim: 'The grand unifying principle for the Marxists behind the Black Lives Matter movement is that everything—and they mean everything—can be reduced to “oppressors” versus the “oppressed.”' The author offers no evidence that Marxists are behind the Black Lives Matter movement. Furthermore, I was recently at the BLM demonstration on Guam. I heard no mention made of Marx, Marxism, or Marxists. Instead, one could see a billboard with Martin Luther King, Jr.'s image on it. One could also hear the name of Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu mentioned in conversation. Both of these men were (or are) Christians and men of the cloth. Although they were not present physically, they were present spiritually. At least some of those demonstrators understood themselves to be both Christian and supportive of BLM...without contradiction.

    1. NB the post is about neo-Marxists, not Marxists, an important distinction. The BLM demonstration on Guam didn't mention Marx and as part of their gas lighting neo-Marxists often don't either as "Marx" tends to scare away what Lenin is credited with describing as "useful idiots," i.e. one who propagandizes for a cause without fully comprehending the cause's goals, and is cynically used by the cause's leaders.

  3. If BLM brings about a more judicious use of police force, a national conversation about race relations in American society, an awakening to the many inequalities in America, an historical appreciation of how America became America, and policies to make good the civil rights of her citizens, then I will gladly accept the tag to my name: Timothy Guile, useful idiot.

    1. If BLM brings about riot, looting, anarchy, a further descent into the identity politics promoted by neo-Marxists and a substitution of Zinn-like grievance politics for American traditions do you still want to be tagged Timothy Guile, useful idiot? If so, then you can answer the question posed by this post in the affirmative.

  4. The conversation about police reform is already happening in Congress. And I would happily walk along side Mitt Romney to affirm that black lives matter. I embrace Mr. Romney and other legislators as my fellow useful idiots.

    1. Since Mitt is neither a Christian nor a Marxist, he won’t be faced with dichotomy posed by the title of this post, however useful idiot he may be.

  5. Given all that has been happening nationally and internationally since Bob posted last on June 20--in a matter of just 10 days--I feel like a VERY useful idiot.
