After days of silence on Archbishop Apuron's decision to dismiss him, Monsignor Benevente issued a statement Friday afternoon, saying that "lesser road was chosen."

Monsignor James Benavente issued a statement just moments ago that despite Archbishop Anthony Apuron's public statements over the past few days about alleged financial mismanagement under Benavente's watch, Benavente hasn't been presented with the written allegations.

Richard Untalan, a former finance official for the island's Catholic Church, this week questioned the decision to blame Benavente, saying Apuron also played a role in the financial decisions.

Catholics create Facebook page to rally around monsignor
Although Monsignor James Benavente has not returned calls for comment on his removal from his positions within the Archdiocese of Agana, several concerned Catholics have formed a Facebook page to come to his defense.

I am surprised the NCW leaders and Kiko himself don't ask the Archbishop to step down and step aside. He is giving them so much bad press and scrutiny. If this was corporate America, Tony would be fired for bringing bad publicity. He has brought so much division and hurt that the NCW Guam members have to defend him and help him. The NCW doesn't need Tony, cut him loose. He isn't worth it Kiko, Carmen and Fr. Mario. The Guam drama isn't worth it. Close the seminary, send everyone there elsewhere. Give the property back to the people of Guam and all will be well on many fronts. Try establishing the NCW in another country. We are not a 3rd world country or a mission or a placed that needed to be conquered. Our faith is strong and you will see in the coming weeks. Guam doesn't need the NCW and the NCW doesn't need Guam.
ReplyDeleteMembers of the NCW are third world people. They have major problems. They use the NCW as their comfort in dealing with their problems.. Look at Kiko lecture the Pope. It makes me sick to see such disrespect.
DeleteI see that PDN has removed the latest pole, and all the results from its previous poles for that matter, from its website. I wonder if they figured out that it doesn't mean anything if people can just stuff the pole.

In his letter to the media trying to justify the unjustifiable, Tony Baloney adds a peculiar note at the end of his press release... "As in the past, when we faced grave matters, I addressed them through a pastoral letter; ... We Guamanians are renowned for our hospitality and dialogue. "

Sorry to tell you this Tony, but even the Neo faithful are feeling ashamed of you. With all the deep and grave problems we faced this past year, still no pastoral letter on the liturgy, or on sex abuse policies, or anything.
Yes we are weel known for our hospitality and dialogue, but YOU, Tony, you have failed miserably in dialogue. For an entire year we heard nothing from you while your head remained buried deep in the sand or whatever. And now we hear from you so many times on the Monsignor James issue. And all we hear is lies, lies, and more lies.
You should step down immediately, and spend the rest of your like contemplating an ancient Chinese proverb...
