G4S SECURITY BULLIES AT THE HYATT? GUARDS TOLD TO BE ON "HIGH ALERT"

This is very serious stuff. Harassment by a G4S security guard as per the instructions of Hyatt management - via "Tony"?? Let's find out who these people are. Start working on it. Meanwhile, I've asked Eileen to file a formal complaint with G4S and the Hyatt.

****

Hi Tim,

Today I talked to a Felix at the Hyatt security office. He refused to give me his last name.

I was complaining about a security guard who challenged me about entering the hotel after our protest concluded.  This guard had been down at the street entrance while we were there.

This G4S guard saw me holding my sign so when I tried to enter the hotel after, he challenged me as to what I was going to do in there. I told him I was going to eat in the café. I asked him why he was questioning me. I asked him if had to challenge everyone trying to enter. I later found out he challenged others protesters who went in the hotel for a snack. He never told me it was because I was a protester.

I asked for his name but he refused to give it to me. He wasn't wearing a name tag. He said it was a matter of confidentiality and for his own protection that he couldn't give me his name. Really? Being a G4S guard at the Hyatt is so dangerous a job that guards have to remain anonymous?

I went in the hotel and to the café. I saw that the large open seating area with the restrooms at the back was blocked as tables were set up for taking tickets for the gala and the seating area was used as a gathering place for attendees. This area is across from the café.

I went around to the restroom on the opposite side near La Mirenda. Since the restroom wasn't available on the café side, I ate at La Mirenda.

After dinner, I went to the spa to get a brochure and from the spa went down the hallway back to the café to use the restroom. By this time, it was after 8 p.m. and everyone was in the ballroom.

The tables were no longer needed so I headed to the restroom as it appeared to me that the seating area was now open. It was empty except for one woman.

That same G4S guard was there and told me I couldn't use that restroom. I had to go back around to the other restroom. He said he was given instructions to block access. This area had nothing now to do with the gala except that people from the party would use the restroom in there.

I was extremely pissed. He again refused to give me his name. I went to the front desk and told the manager on duty what happened. She came back with me to question the guard. He told her Dave in the Hyatt security office had given him instructions to block access to that area. My using the restroom wouldn't have had any impact on the goings on in the ballroom.

Now here's the clinker. I was using my walker. I walk very slowly due to severe arthritis in both hips. How much of a threat could I be? He could easily have watched me head towards the restroom. If he was concerned that I was a conniving gala saboteur, he could have walked after me (not run as I walk slowly), and prevented me from carrying out any nefarious deed against the arch and his gala.

Back to Felix in the Hyatt security office who refused to tell me his last name. After I went went over what had occurred, he told me the guards were told to be on "high alert" because of the planned protest of the gala.

We were perceived as a threat to the bishop's gala. Ha ha gotcha scared, huh, archie?

Eileen

  1. Great Tim! Called G4S and got the email of the manager in charge of guards.
At the Hyatt, I was given the number for "Control." Left my name, number, and email with the person answering the phone. Hope I get an email back.

  2. Wow! A few of us were semi-challenged as we walked toward the premises, as well. But when I told the guard we intended to be paying guests in the cafe, he reluctantly let us pass.

A member of our party encountered a print reporter in the restroom who asked her if she had been challenged by a guard when entering the hotel. She answered that we were. The reporter said that she was, also, and was very angry about her plans to patronize the restaurant being questioned. She told our companion that she would be writing about it.

I'm sorry Eileen was given such difficulty. That is a public venue. If the planners wanted tight security they should have had their event on private property. Our protests are always peaceful. We carry our signs, sing and pray, then leave and get on with our lives which we have apart from these rallies. Could we truly harm anyone with our poster board signs, which were already stowed away, or an assistive device?

  3. If they can't stand the heat they should get out of the kitchen. faithful to neo's why are you so fearful of a few peaceful faithful who only recite the rosary and sing religious songs???? Are you paranoid of a few peace loving people who all they desire is for you and your heretical Sect to stay out of our churches.

  5. the hyatt is a private business and not a public park, so they do have a certain amount of rights to turn people away so far as the law doesn't prohibit it.

of course, it's a separate question as to whether it's good business to treat people that way.

speaking of the law, if you were using a walker and you were unreasonably prevented access to the nearest restroom, did they violate ADA? (and i'm not talking about sonny's family name!)

this reminds me a little bit of the couple times i participated in "40 days for life" (https://40daysforlife.com/), during which volunteers took turns praying continuously day and night in front of an abortion clinic (here, planned parenthood) for 40 days. the organizers emphasized our need to stay on public property--the sidewalk--and not step on any part of pp property, lest pp go after us for trespassing. the facility was closed during the times that i was there, so i didn't encounter any pp employees. just a few middle-fingers from passing motorists and one or two confrontational pedestrians. this is seattle, after all.

    1. rey d,
I emailed the supervisor of the G4S guards and related what happened to me. Told her I thought he was guilty of an ADA violation and am considering legal action.

  6. Contact Ed Bitanga at G4S. As a former DOC Director he is used to dealing with the criminal element like the Archbishop, Fr Adrian, Fr Pius, and Deacon Larry. He'll look into the problems at G4S.

  7. Is Ed a NEO? If he is then it would be hopeless like the rest of the NEO cult.

  8. Dear Eileen, and any other person who was "mishandled" by security at the Hyatt Regency.

This more of a customer complaint, since you did go to the restaurant, or attempted to, you need to forward your complaint in writing to the General Manager of the Hotel.
Ultimately this is where the buck stops.

The General Manager, is responsible for anything happening inside the Hotel, and for the image of the Hotel in the local community. Large outfits like Hyatt take these things very seriously.

So write a polite letter and/or email, stating clearly and quietly the facts.
IE: you were attempting to enter the Hotel, to go to dinner, when you were confronted by a security guard.
    State which entrance you used.
    What time it was.
How tall, short, lean, muscular, chubby was the guard.
How old he/she was. Was he/she alone.
What they said, and do. Also the fact they were not wearing a name tag.
This will help the GM find out, since they have log-in for all employees and contractors, as well as security cameras in many areas, but certainly in the entrance.
Explain briefly how long you and your family have been clients of the Hyatt, and a brief evaluation of your image of the Hotel.
Once you have establish these facts, explain your complaint.
You do not need to explain what you were doing before of after the incident, it is not relevant.
Make sure you state what attempt you have made to get a hold of somebody....etc, and what action, or not, followed.

You can send your letter to:
    Ms. Sophia Chu, General Manager
    Hyatt Regency Guam
    155 Pale San Vittores Road
    Tumon, Guam 96913-4206

Or you can email her at:
    Sophia.Chu@hyatt.com

Wait at least a week, for an answer. Once you get an answer, see if it is reasonable and satisfactory.
If it is not, you can respond, and wait a little longer.

Now depending on the results or lack of results thereof, I will give you the contact information of her boss, if that is necessary.
    Hope that helps.
    Best wishes for the week.
God bless you and your family

  10. yes, whoever was treated that way, do what frenchie suggests. pursue legal avenues (ADA violations, illegal discrimination) if it has to come down to that and if it has merit.

  11. Especially since you were using a walker, and told to go else where to use the restrooms. Don't stop till you get results.
