A NEW YEAR'S VISIT FROM POPE ST PIUS X

(Posted by Glaucon Jr)

Now that I’m back from my little retreat with the Greek Fathers, I thought I might bring along a warm, New Year’s greeting from Pope St Pius X (not a Greek father--duh) whose words are the bookends for my little adventure in Tradition. In his seminal encyclical Pascendi Dominici Gregis, the holy man of God warned about Catholic modernists and the resulting destruction of the Faith that we see bearing its most bitter fruit that is the Neocatechumenal Way. It's almost like he has spoken to us straight from Heaven with Kiko and Carmen in mind (bold and underline mine):

  • “We allude, Venerable Brethren, to many who belong to the Catholic laity, nay, and this is far more lamentable, to the ranks of the priesthood itself, who, feigning a love for the Churchlacking the firm protection of philosophy and theology, nay more, thoroughly imbued with the poisonous doctrines taught by the enemies of the Church, and lost to all sense of modesty, vaunt themselves as reformers of the Church; and, forming more boldly into line of attack, assail all that is most sacred in the work of Christ, not sparing even the person of the Divine Redeemer, whom, with sacrilegious daring, they reduce to a simple, mere man.” [Paragraph 2]
  • “But since the Modernists (as they are commonly and rightly called) employ a very clever artifice, namely, to present their doctrines without order and systematic arrangement into one whole, scattered and disjointed one from another, so as to appear to be in doubt and uncertainty, while they are in reality firm and steadfast, it will be of advantage, Venerable Brethren, to bring their teachings together here into one group, and to point out the connexion (sic) between them, and thus to pass to an examination of the sources of the errors, and to prescribe remedies for averting the evil.” [Paragraph 4]

In a way, it’s comforting: no matter how many priests or presbyters or bishops or cardinals or whatever buy into the NCW—or worse, are bought and paid for by the NCW—there is never any way under heaven they can pollute the holy Catholic Faith. They are outside it, and always have been. The Church is always one, always holy, always catholic. They have removed themselves from the Body of Christ by their own indominable refusal to embrace the Truth that is as clear as crystal. If Archbishop Byrnes needs a list of their blasphemous stupidities (to borrow the technical term from St John Damascene), check out our own verified blacklist that clearly states what that arch-heretic Kiko Arguello teaches.

It’s the only way to call them to account, and even after all these months, they still haven’t tried to refute it. Because they can’t. The soul-darkening of their teaching is staggering.

And their false perversion of a pseudo-Gospel only shows they are not only heretical, but schismatic. As the Beloved Disciple puts it:

“They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us --1 John 2:19.

I say all of this in the fullness of Charity, my friends, and more than this: May the Immaculate Heart preserve us. We must never offer the slightest pinch of tribute to those who by their false teaching lead others merrily away from the Faith entrusted to the Apostles--even if it's a cardinal like Filoni who leads the way. We must never allow ourselves to be separated by our acquiescence to those who deny  Cross of Christ and its perfect sacrifice, remembered in our worship in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass--even if it's a shepherd who persecutes the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in favor of a Antinomian revolution.

2017 is the year to be warriors of charity--to fight those who mistake sentiment for the love of Christ. Let this new year come!

ps. Nice to be back. May the holy Mother of Christ our God bless us during this year to come. And may Christ give us victory over His enemies.

    1. Don't confuse legitimate Tradition with nutcase Traditionalists. Many of the latter are Sedevacantists and heretical Old Catholics.

  2. Let's not lose sight of the objective here. Issue is not about traditionalist or modernist. Pre Vatican 2 or post. These are important and divisive issues. The issue is to expose corruption, Dishonesty, and manipulation of individuals by the NCW. Consequent to this thedamage to parishioners & church authority.

    1. On many occasions I have shown that the NCW was not born in a vacuum but is precisely the fruit of Vatican 2. The popes have even called it such.

  3. I agree Tim but don't get distracted. I am suggesting that to be effective we need to concentrate fire on corruption, dishonesty, coercion, control and damage done by NCW. The flag they fly under is what one of your commenters called a counter measure to deflect attacks on the main mission. Their main mission is to establish a power base for Kiko's agenda.

  4. Sorry, friend, but I must take exception. The issue is most definitely about Modernism. What else do you think is the source of Kiko's bile? It didn't arise out of a vacuum. Modernism isn't a word meaning "new-fangled." It is the rallying cry of total war against the Faith and truth itself. That's why it's condemned by Pope Pius. It wasn't a warning like for global warming or inclusion; it's flatly condemned and damnable. And it's the vine from which grows the poison ivy of Kiko Arguello's cult.

    More than that, the NCW infection reflects the larger cancer that is sucking grace from souls every day--not just on Guam, but around the world. To do otherwise is like treating an AIDS patient with Neosporin: you're stopping at the symptom and missing the demonic cause of this spiritual horror.

    And it's not "traditional" Catholicism. It's the Tradition itself, which is inherently catholic--for all time, in all places, to all people. That's the crux of it. Not keeping that fixed in our minds is the surest route to winning a battle while suffering total defeat in the war.

    We will flesh this out in future posts to connect the dots for everyone, and I do appreciate the comments. But the fact remains that by keeping this conversation labelled as "divisive" is simply being afraid of really getting at the problem for the sake of a false solidarity. Yes, we must work on the legal, economic, even political fronts in support of the great spiritual front, but we must see our part in the much larger, much more diabolical conflict around us.

    Yeah, I know: I sound like I'm overstating it. But spend some time in that larger fight, and most readers will see this as Tim and the others and I understand it.

    As for "Old School" faith, here's an example: our greatest allies are the Mostly Holy Mother of God and the holy angels at her command. But judging by what I hear from most modern (younger to middle aged) Catholics with little knowledge of the faith, there's maybe an Our Father and then go balutan.

    Which is precisely why our manamko get it. As usual. They remember. And if we don't get in there and stop there heretics, there won't be much left for our young people but sentimentality and cult tactics--again, not just on Guam, but around the world.

    1. ADDENDUM: and why do those younger Catholics not know the Faith? It's not because of a problem with the immutable Truth passed down for two millennia; it's because of the near-total collapse of the transmission of the Faith--from the "deadly vagueness of Vatican II" to the most corrupt cardinals since the Medicis to the destruction of the Divine Economy of Authority at the hands of the nuns.

      So yeah, I'm pretty safe in saying that the problems started for real at around Vatican II.

    2. While I am a firm believer that our Holy Mother and Angels are our allies in this great spiritual battle, I am convinced that it is the Church members that will need to take up this battle for the salvation of souls. The most effective solution we have is for us to be reconciled with our God through the reception of the Sacrament of Penance, get on our knees and roll up our sleeves and offer our prayers in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and petition the help and assistance of Almighty God in this effort, we will not be disappointed. God Bless You all.

  5. if you make the fight about modernism the neos get off the hook. If you expose their crimes you may get a result

    1. Feel free to come out behind your rock and do so. Otherwise we'll engage the enemy as we wish.

  6. Let's say it yet again: we will and must continue the engagement with the NCW on Guam, but since Kiko's Catechetical Directory IS NOT systematic (like Chuck, I should know--I've read it), the attacks on the Faith are for the most part going unnoticed worldwide. This s why we maintain multiple fronts. Hence, it's not about Modernism simply; it's about knowing your terrain before the fight.

    If any of us aren't prepared to put on our big-girl panties and deal with this head on, then please go back to handwringing and leave this to the rest of us.

    Goodness, doesn't anyone read anymore?

  7. Let's put some clear, concise definitions of modernism out here. Catholic apologist Jimmy Akin describes modernism as having six principle errors:

    (1) God cannot be known and proved to exist by natural reason;

    (2) external signs of revelation, such as miracles and prophecies, do not prove the divine origin of the Christian religion and are not suited to the intellect of modern man;

    (3) Christ did not found a Church;

    (4) and the essential structure of the Church can change;

    (5) the Church's dogmas continually evolve over time so that they can change from meaning one thing to meaning another;

    (6) faith is a blind religious feeling that wells up from the subconscious under the impulse of a heart and a will trained to morality, not a real assent of the intellect to divine truth learned by hearing it from an external source.
