ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL

Only Asan & Yigo meet the goal. Everyone else? Car washes and bakes sales.

Of course we knew how Dededo would respond, but Tamuning?

  1. A few Sundays ago in Santa Barbara, the priest celebrating the mass made an appeal to those present. The Umatuna had printed preliminary figures and our parish had a poor showing. As I looked around the church for people's reaction, I saw many people smiling. Or sharing a look with their spouse or other seat mate. Could it be, I thought, that's exactly what they wanted?!

    1. Maybe because Msgr. BB ill? There really isn't a full time priest in that big parish.

    2. 9:48 the parishioners of Tamuning were filled with the Holy Spirit and the finally saw the light...the RED LIGHT which means STOP!

    3. Because after he expelled Father Paul from Dededo, the Archbishop sent him to the Tamuning parish. Tamuning now knows the truth, as does Dededo, and we have shown his "Excellency" how we feel about his lies.

    4. Fr. Paul not in residence in Tamuning. He is presiding around and nicely received by the faithful.

    5. God be good to Msgr. Was very ill and well beyond retirement age. Tamuning needs help immediately. Lord, please help st. Anthony/St. Victor. BTW, is Neo still active in the Parish?

  4. Yigo made its goal only because she devoted her entire 2nd collection to the AAA, which although not improper, is highly unusual. As most people know, the 2nd collection is usually reserve to raise funds for building projects or special projects in the parish, not for something outside of the parish, and since Lent is when parishoners give the most, I hope this does not put a dent into Yigo's fundraising goals for the rest of the year, and subsequent years.

    1. Are you a parishioner of Yigo? For people from OLOL this is not unusual. We have second collections for all types of things, and it is announced before hand as well as placed in the bulletin as to the purpose of it. I am not a member of the NCW, and the NCW in Yigo had little to do with raising these funds. In my opinion, they are like leeches, always using church power, buildings, etc. but not contributing to the parish.
      Signed a OLOL parishioner.

Perhaps most of your readers are from Tamuning!!!!!!

    1. Or perhaps it's because Apuron, the genius he is, sent Father Paul to St. Anthony parish after kicking him out of Santa Barbara, so now he's got two parishes who know the truth about his pettiness and unjust treatment of Father Paul.

  6. Wow! Dededo has made a HUGE statement. The archbishop should wake up or he will forever lose Dededo. Tamuning is saying something as well and it is not a complement. These are bad indicators for the Chancery and should serve as a WARNING and WAKE-UP CALL to the Chancery that you do not need treat the faithful with impunity as they have.

  7. Tim,

I truly believe that the Cardinal Tagle fiasco and the lack of any response from the Chancery imitating some kind of apology has turned people off and they are talking with their pocketbooks.

  8. Hey, I heard that Cardinal Tagle will be in Guam next month to celebrate the anniversary of one of our priests. Can we make him our archbishop as well? I am sure he can handle both archdioceses. U rah!

    1. Sure would be nice if he can take over! I can sit and listen to his homilies and his lectures.

    2. True! He will be here. But we need our own Bishop. I mean ARCHBISHOP! He doesn't like it when some one slips and calls him Bishop. He corrects people. Oh, yes.

    3. If that's true, that's pretty sad. Archbishop and bishop are not differences in rank. They are equal. The "Arch" only refers to the size of the diocese relative to its region.

"Simply put, an archbishop is a bishop with the title of an archdiocese. An archdiocese, as noted, is merely a larger diocese;"

    4. Yes, sir, sad. Heard at Govt House in front of bishop Enrico dal Covolo. Talk about embarrassing himself! As Pius would say, Arch-A- Bishop! Pizza be with you.

    5. Titles for Archbishop Apuron is very important outside his community. Outside the community is where he finds his prestige. In the community he is only one of the fellas!

  9. His "Excellency" unjustly took our Pastor from us. What did he think was going to happen? Did he truly believe we would simply allow this? That there would be no consequence for his foolhardiness? When he is as obsessed with money and tangible things as he is (how many times was this thing extended?) and makes no secret of it, he makes it far too easy for us to punish him for his sins.

And as for Tamuning's "disappointing" turn-out for the Appeal: When Father Paul was expelled from Dededo, he was made a Priest in residence in another parish. Guess which village they put him in?

Where Father Paul goes, so does the truth, as does the reality that unlike our Archbishop, we the faithful are strong enough in our faith that we don't NEED the teachings of some second-rate artist and a failed nun to give validity to our beliefs.
Money talks, as does the lack of money. And I do believe our point has been made abundantly clear, Archbishop.

  10. I honestly think the response of the Tamuning Parish’s St. Anthony-St. Victor Catholic Church to the 2014 Archdiocesan Annual Appeal is because Fr. Paul Gofigan is originally from Tamuning, a fact that many people — including Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron! — may have forgotten. Having Fr. Paul as a Priest in Residence in his home parish is a constant reminder of how he was treated by the Archbishop — how the Archbishop threatened Fr. Paul with a “more arduous and painful closure” to his assignment at Sta. Barbara; how the Archbishop orchestrated Fr. Paul’s eviction from Sta. Barbara by changing the locks and assigning a Parochial Administrator; how the Archbishop calumniated Fr. Paul and a layman with innuendoes about a sexual relationship in the presence of his fellow priests; and the list goes on …

As a result, Fr. Paul’s fellow parishioners have communicated their displeasure by withholding contributions to the AAA.

    1. Good point Mary Lou. It is apparent that the supporters of Fr. Paul, or those who desire justice and the truth to prevail(a more apt description) are tired of the shenanigans of the Chancery, and Fr. Paul has become their cause celebre.

  11. Archbishop is a real issue of division now. Needs to be healed urgently. Tamuming parish needs a new pastor. Monsignor is sick now and needs to pass on responsibility to another.

    1. Anonymous (June 22, 2014 at 3:49 PM), are you saying that your prescription for the urgent healing of the "real issue of division" is to have Msgr. Bibi replaced as Pastor of St. Anthony-St. Victor Parish with one of those RMS/NCW presbyters? Do you really think that if the Archbishop replaces Msgr. Bibi, who is loved and held in high esteem by his Parish Family, with one of the RMS/NCW presbyters — instead of assigning one of the current Parochial Vicars as Pastor — that they will be welcomed with open arms? Think again!

Remember — SASVCC was once considered a strong NCW parish with multiple communities. From what I’ve been told, many of the NCW communities have lost members to the point of being disbanded and have had to be consolidated with others. I’ve also been told that none of the SASVCC priests serve the NCW communities anymore, that the RMS/NCW priests come in to serve their NCW brothers and sisters.

The Archbishop would do well to be very careful with how he deals with Msgr. Bibi, lest he think that the Parish Family of SASVCC will stand by quietly as did the parishioners of Sta. Barbara. The SBCC parishioners were caught off-guard and did not know how to respond. We’ve had close to a year of watching the Archbishop’s attempts to destroy Fr. Paul Gofigan — we have seen that there is no limit to what he will do to try to demolish Fr. Paul!

Count on this: We will be watching closely to see if the Archbishop tries to put Msgr. Bibi out to pasture in order to replace him with one of his RMS/NCW presbyters. If he does, I’m quite sure that the Parish Family of SASVCC will not stand by silently as the SBCC parishioners did in July 2013 when the Archbishop removed Fr. Paul as Pastor.

    3. I agree with Mary Lou. If the archbishop removed Monsignor Bibi, there would be an uprising. I recommend this to the archbishop if he truly wants to heal wounds and do the right thing. Restore Fr. Paul as pastor to Santa Barbara. Bring back Fr. Richard Kidd to Tamuning so that Monsignor Bibi can groom him to be his successor down the road. Fr. Bibi has both Chamorro and Filipino blood in him so he'll be around for a while. His dad passed away on his 100th year and his mom is now 103 years old. Oops! On second thoughts, keep Fr. Richard at Maina. lol.

    Dear Anonymous at 3:20 p.m.,

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, Tim Rohr and the rest of his congregation (followers) are Catholic. They are still our Catholic brothers despite that they put themselves outside the Catholic Church. THAT'S ALL FOLKS . Now you can go back to whatever you were doing.

    1. To "...put themselves outside the Catholic Church". I like for you to state exactly how we put ourselves outside the Catholic Church? I am curious to hear your reasons, and please be specific.

    2. Diana said we put ourselves outside of the Roman Catholic Church because we are against Archbishop. I told him we are trying to get Archbishop to LISTEN and be transparent and shepherd to all. Nevertheless, she has declared we are in the mix of those who support abortion, same sex marriage, etcetera, etcetera!

    3. Hey, Tim, did you know Diana thinks you have a congregation? Really, Father, you know better than that.

    4. Hey, you all ought to know better. We are being excommunicated. The NCW received the official notice. Kiko - Giuseppe -Father Pius-RMS priests- resposibles- catechists- members were told that as per KIKO'S statutes we are excommunicated!
