MEANWHILE, PIZZA AND TRAVEL FOR THE RMS BOYS

Yesterday, St. Thomas Aquinas Highs School parents and students began receiving word from the school's principal that the school will close at the end of next month.

The reported reason is not enough enrollment and revenue.

Understand that every dollar we give to Apuron's "children" over at RMS is a dollar we don't have to give to our own parishes, schools, and the future of our own children.

Take the money that Apuron has spent jetting about the world with his newly ordained presbyter pets and throw in the big bucks he just spent on that Denver law firm, and we probably could have kept the school open another year.

It costs nearly a million dollars a year to keep RMS running.  And FOR WHAT?

Immature boys who tell us they are "sick of our culture" (actually was said), scream at us unintelligibly from our pulpits, give us a hard time burying our dead, and then help themselves to our daughters.

Well screw that!

Make no mistake. This is revenge for the damage we have done to the future of RMS by withholding funds from the Appeal.

And since Msgr. James was involved with founding the school, it is no doubt another attack on his reputation and legacy, which also explains why the assistance of many who offered to help keep the school open was refused.

Apuron not only did not have the decency to try and work out a solution for the school with its stakeholders, he neither had the decency to speak to the parents and students himself about his decision to close the school.

Just another damn decree.

And no contingency plan for the students. No plan to integrate them into the other schools. They're on their own. Get out of here.

Meanwhile, pizza and travel for his RMS boys. Oh, and big plans are being made to celebrate AAA's birthday as a fundraiser with a goal to raise $300,000.

Guess where the money is going. Make sure it's not yours.

The parishioners were thrilled and clapped and cheered. They clapped and cheered again when the archbishop announced that Fr. Danilo Ferrandiz is now appointed to be pastor of Santa Bernadita for 6 years.

    3. Another cynical thought-if Santa Bernadita is no longer a mission chapel but now a full-fledged parish, does that mean it will be assessed more money to be paid to the archbishop? Was this perhaps the motivation to change its classification to that of a parish?

  17. Mt. Carmel School was doomed to close if it weren't for the passionate parents, along with Matt Philips who fought to keep it open. Will there be a fight for this school?

Financially, I'm amazed that this school can't function on its own with the tuition being outrageous! It's a small school (enrollment/building size)! I'm sure there's more to running a school than I know. What would it take to keep this school open? Are the parents and students passionate enough to FIGHT to keep it open?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We have BEEN fighting, for as long as the school has been open; please don't doubt our love for the school, and don't put the blame on us for not having enough "passion" to keep the school open.

What is our passion compared to the archbishop's decisions? Will our passion persuade him to open his eyes? It hasn't worked yet with the passion of this island's Catholics - what will the passion of 50 students and their families do to sway him?

This is not the school's fault - and it is especially NOT a lack of fight or passion or love from the school that has led us to this point. Look at the archbishop.

    5. The fight for STA is stay open is something that I know my STA community is devastated by. The countless letters to the Archdiocese, the many fundraisers, the generous benefactors, the passionate students, the hard working parents, and especially the never ending prayers ....... if you don't think that STA has fought or for that matter is still fighting, then please pay a visit to the school before they close and just address the people there.

I graduated from STA. I am a proud student, a strong follower of my Catholic faith and I believe that STA has given me the knowledge to not just excel in academics, but in my faith. I cannot speak for my whole STA community because I am only one person, but I can tell you all something. We are taught that God has a will. We cannot throw around blames for things that we cannot control, nor can we allow ourselves to come between God's will for us.

Yes STA is closing down, but we fought our hearts out and continue to fight, because this school is our home. Did you know that last year when a meeting was called for stakeholders and administration to discuss the facts and issues of the school last year with the board, that practically the whole school community showed up and fit ourselves in a small tiny conference room. Do you know why? It is because we all hold a stake in this school. Each and every one of the students, parents, faculty, staff and contributors all hold a stake with the school.

Shutting down STA to me feels like you're turning us away saying "you're not good enough." Matthew 10: 33 - "But whoever denies me before men, I shall deny him before My Father in Heaven." Are you denying us?

"How is it they live in such harmony the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know."

  18. not even one penny. this archbishop is a thief, a liar, a cheat, a pervert, a blasphemous demon.
to cut a school off, an institution of learning, a home for those students longing for knowledge and spiritual growth is the ultimate sign of treachery and corruption.

you archbishop - you did this. you bear the weight of the tears and heartbreak of those children, the commitment and investment from the parents, supporters and teachers on your ugly black soul.

and you creatures of hell that call yourselves 'neo' - a pox on you! you have unleashed bitterness, resentment and anger; un-Christianlike behavior from the depths of your delusion and insanity. You are not Catholic. You are cult-followers. You are mindless, soul-less drones following SATAN.

Years of watching and reading on this blog, witnessing first-hand the demise of the One, Holy, Catholic Church then to hear the sobs and pleas from the school-kids is too much. Archbishop, your vanity, your ENORMOUS EGO just can't take it, huh? It can't take the success of this school that was brainchild of Monsignor James so you killed it. What kind of lowly being because you're not a man, what kind of leader, well, you're not even a leader...what kind of conscience, well, never mind. I answered my own question.

Resign. Do Rome a favor and just leave.

I pray to God that a press release goes out on all media, electronic, print and social - reminding whoever is stupid to give one copper penny to any party for the archbishop that their businesses will be boycotted for supporting him. it goes to show - money talks, bullshit walks.
Party? dancing on the heads of the school children and their families, the heads of Paul and James and their families? How does that feel?

Tony, just go. Don't look back, don't make any false, plays on emotion, no 'let's try' or 'collectively,' or 'in concert' or any of those flowery, well-meaning but non-committal phrases.
Its too damn late, too much water under the bridge, scorched earth episodes from you. Your legacy, all that you and your neo minions will be remembered by - users and broken people.

    just go. now.

its all about the money, right? if anybody had any doubts, here you go, here's the truth of it. tony funneled all the diocese money to the neos and his RMS (insert laugh here) and now who suffers? the children of the archdiocese.

go. don't look back. don't come back. we will be so much better when you're gone. the veil of darkness and deceit will be lifted and the sad, wounded hearts will be made whole eventually.

if you don't go and Rome continues to move at its glacial pace - the same news media running same-sex articles will be running articles about the corruption, the sex scandals (do you think they don't have Google alerts at CNN/Fox/NBC/ABC/CBS/AP/NHK/BBC/Time Warner?) and your political playing NY friends? Are you even remotely aware there's a documentary crew writing a script about all this for _ _ _? You think Pius and those war crimes G family going to save you? Never!!

    7. Anonymous 8:38 pm. It's hard to believe but there are still many Catholics all over Guam who are oblivious or indifferent to the destruction being done to the real Catholic Church. They attend mass out of habit and, for the most part, the mass appears unchanged even when said by NCW presbyters-for now.

      Delete
    8. Yes, Agnes, however, as I've demonstrated several times before, the NCW really hasn't done anything that we haven't already incrementally permitted. Small abuses of the liturgy abound, regular excursions outside the GIRM, words added here and there extemporaneously in the spirit of being "welcoming", strange jokes and stories to preface homilies that are irrelevant to the Gospel, parishes where some sit, some stand, some kneel after communion (disunity), disregard for the norms for music at Mass (see Musicam Sacram), disrespect for the Holy Eucharist by communicants who use the walk back to the pew as an opportunity to greet relatives and friends, the list goes on. For years we have been "oblivious or indifferent" (ignorant actually) "to the destruction being done to the real Catholic Church", attending "mass out of habit" which to them "for the most part, the mass appears unchanged." But it was changed, and dramatically so, just incrementally. The NCW had done nothing different. This is why its members do not see the problem. The liturgy they attend is not that different than what they were already doing in their churches before joining.

      Delete
    9. Part 2. This is why I say the NCW is not the real problem. We are. The question is do we care enough to fix it.

      Delete
    10. Wow 5:19. I thought I was reading me! The good news is more people are enraged at what is going on and this will help the highly anticipated demise of the Evil Ones.
Money is the key. Everybody stopping the flow. Give nothing to the church but help in other ways. Pay a part of the power bill by writing your check to Gpa or GWA. Or help pay the priests salary by making the check payable to him (but only if he is not NCW). Or write your check to the company who he has health insurance with.
Priests cannot be disobedient in the assessment but they also cannot pay to Caesar what they do not have.
Now is the time to rebel and fight. Tony is on the run and the weight of all his sins is quickly bring the weight to an unbearable cross he will not carry.
I love my parish but I no longer write checks to it but support it in ways as state above. If everyone does the same tony will be broke and homeless.

Ah.....it is a beautiful vision. Won't you help me bring it to fulfillment?

  22. STA was a project primarily undertaken to pad Apuron's resume as he aspired to higher office. He's probably been told by Rome that it'll never happen. So why bother keeping up appearances.

It's just sad that the students will be the victims. Other schools will probably soon follow as he tries to tap into their revenues to support his lifestyle and his beloved RMS. Well, I guess it really is possible to remove a soul. Clearly Apuron no longer has one.

    3. Tim,good point. For years I advocated complete independence of catholic schools, hospitals, religious convents, monasteries , priest's financially from any bishop. Structures need to be set up now to protect independent groups. Otherwise a bishop can lose down any structure. If STA was not in a church building, independent of archdiocese it could have been saved very easy. I still believe it could be saved with a group of investors. however, everything should be independent of Archdiocese as far as possible. Ava Maria Florida functions because good finances. It's all in the money.

    4. Tim, Note Dame High is autonomous. St. Francis and San Vicente School are parish schools under the jurisdiction of the Archbishop. He can close these two schools.

    5. Until AAA moves his NEO friends' children out of SFS and SVS, they probably will not be closed down. Here's the breakdown:

NDHS and all 4 pre-k schools owned by the orders.
      DCS also owned by Dominicans.
All other are not autonomous and owned by AAA.
MCS a hybrid because aaa owns but Mike Phillips was given complete autonomy.
Although sisters run many schools, AAA still owns and has ultimate say.

However, he rarely gets involved except for his annual visit for which he is paid handsomely.

      Delete
    4. Thanks for the breakdown, Tim. Point of correction though: aaa does not "own" these schools. They are a patrimony of the Catholic legacy. In the paraphrased words of the Patek Philippe ad: "we don't really own these institutions, we merely take care of it for the next generation." Apuron better know that he is only a steward of what has been passed on. It is not for him to squander, although it seems like he is leaving this "sacred patrimony" much poorer than he found it.
