NOTES FROM TOTO

From AAA's meeting with the Toto parishioners last night:

Listen on Soundcloud:
https://soundcloud.com/immaculate-heart-of-mary/qa-session-toto-parish-6-15-15

  • VERY HEATED CONFRONTATION with AAA by the parishioners of Toto
  • bang, bang, bang from the very first speaker
  • a SUPERB DISPLAY of displeasure of the people for what AAA is doing/not doing in the on-going saga of division within the church.
  • No words minced, albeit in general respectful.
  • His answer to the pointed question "Don't you see the division that is happening within the Church?", his answer was "yes; there is this perception..." Say what?? Perception???
  • When asked what he is doing to bring unity with the Church, he said he is doing this and that, and then added "we are meeting with the CCOG to try to  work things out"
  • to which one attendee jumped up and said, "Archbishop; that is a lie!  Why do you lie to the people? he identified himself as a member of the CCOG, and said "I know that CCOG has not met with you!" Why do you lie, Archbishop?
  • Silence on his part, until Deacon Larry Claros (Bodyguard?) came to his defense and said to the CCOG member that he was being disrespectful to the Archbishop by calling him a "liar". (Job security, Larry?)
  • He responded: "Larry what I said was not being disrespectful; I was being truthful.  He did not meet with us - and the Archbishop's statement that 'we met with CCOG...' is a LIE."
  • many other comments from different people hammered AAA for his poor leadership, and his role in this whole scenario.
  • When asked about sitting while receiving Communion, he fumbled and gave the same explanation he gave in Yona 6 months ago: "We were given permission.... I'll just have to find it."
  • The CCOG member chimed in and said, "Archbishop, save yourself the trouble of looking!  You will not find it! You will not find it because it is not there!" - he then I made reference to the 2002 vs the 2008 statutes, saying: " It's NOT in your approved 2008 Statutes; you guys are disobeying Rome which is admonishing you to conform, and disobeying your own Statutes which do not give that permission."
  • many other issues were brought up by the people
    • Jesus, a sinner;
    • Mass a mere celebratory commemoration of the Last Supper, not a true sacrifice;
    • Fr Gofigan and Msgr Benavente cases;
    • RMS importing foreigners as our native clergy;
    • inability to understand their "homilies";
    • desecration of our churches (Toto, Santa Rita);
    • lack of transparency and accountability;
    • Neo priests talking about sex during his homily in front of small altar boys/girls, and on Mother's Day, at that;
    • Fr Luis Camacho is in the Holy Land reflecting on his sins; etc. (all of which showed that the people are following through with the information delivered at our village meetings)
  • plus many other interesting occurrences - like the people booing out Deacon Claros for calling the group at the Chancery "protestors" (Protestants?), when in fact they were praying; etc. etc. etc.
  • a 3-ring circus!

    KUDOS to the IHOM parishioners! I'm sure AAA was well aware that he was on the proverbial HOT SEAT, fresh from the Prayer Service last Wednesday 3 June when more than 100 Catholics from all over the island rallied in support of Fr. Mike.

    I saw photos of the Q/A session. Unlike other parishes where those sessions were usually held before Mass, while most people were still at work and the only ones available were those involved in the day-to-day operations of the parish — people who wouldn't dare to ask "HARD QUESTIONS" for fear of losing their jobs — IHOM had scheduled the Q/A during the dinner after the 6 PM Mass when people had returned from their jobs and were able to attend. The room was full and several people had the microphone in their hand to ask some HARD QUESTIONS … clearly AAA thought he could still lie and get away with it. WRONG!!

    If Giuseppe Gennarini still considers Fr. Mike a threat to the NCW mission to take over parishes and tells AAA to sack him next month, it is obvious that EITHER AAA will have to develop a spine and tell Gennarini "No" OR AAA will comply as obedient "Brother Tony" and face the wrath of those of us who heard him say NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO FR. MIKE.

    Parishes which are still waiting for their parish visit should ask the organizers of the IHOM event for help in planning theirs.

  2. Don't tell me he hasn't finished with those "for show" pastoral visits. Too late Tony, give it up, already. More scandal being given. I'm sure speaking like that was not easy. God Bless

      I'm still listening and I noticed that at one point, AAA sounded critical of the current "bureaucratic" structure of the Church. If AAA doesn't like the current "bureaucracy" of the Church and prefers to have the Church return to the way it was during the Acts of the Apostles, then he really should just step down and embrace his life as "Brother Tony".

  4. We, The Catholic Lay Faithful, of the Archdiocese of Agaña (Hagatña) respectfully request from the Congregation on Evangelization to forward these complaints to the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith to summon His Excellency Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap. DD before the Commission Overseeing the Abuse of the Office of the Archbishop of Guam over these issues, but in particular, the most recent allegations of abuse of a 17 year old minor girl. We also respectfully ask that the Congregation for the Doctrine of faith investigate Msgr. David C. Quitugua, Vicar General and Rev. Fr. Adrian Cristobal for the coverups onbehalf of His Excellency. While Mercy abounds, it is always two ways and we, the lay faithful, ask the Holy Father and the Congregation to be merciful upon these poor lost souls. May our Mother Mary guide us towarda the heart of her Son Jesus. We ask that Guam receives no less than a local clergyman who will help His Holiness to rebuild Our Church in this region of the world. Let the light of God shine forth in us!

  5. If Rome is still not convinced that the Archbishop has lost not only his credibility, but the respect of his people, they should listen to the actual recording of last evenings event in Toto. I understand that he told the crowd last evening that he would only step down if Rome demands his resignation. The emotions of the people is now pitch high that the only action the faithful can accept at this point is his removal from office. Archbishop, do the honorable thing and resign now. You have totally lost the support of the Catholic Laity. Rome, not only have you been reading what is going on, but now you can hear the real raw emotions and frustration of people. We want you to remove the Archbishop. Bring peace to us.

  6. John and Jackie Terlaje also present. Probably prompted the Archbishop on how to answer. The Archbishop key dodging answers with, write to Rome; tell Rome; Rome this, rome that. Rome can burn down and we will never be able to resolve the issues. Archbishop Apuron will NEVER be able to mend things. Why? He delegates his groupie to come up with a solution. God help us all!

    Ticked off Claros on the other hand was taking notes on a composition notebook, Name of speaker and what speaker said. Good job Claros! Are you the one who will be initiating a plan of action? 1. Yah, I've heard him say that, along with the "breadness of the bread" and other such pap. But here's the deal. Christ gave "all power on heaven and earth" to his apostles and the keys of the kingdom to Peter, and today Peter says DO WHAT'S IN THE BOOK. And Apuron waxes on about "reclining at table". Of course he's just repeating Kiko crap. Shows you how far gone he is. He completely ignores the authentic magisterium of the Church as if he knows better. Then he wonders why we have no respect for him. It's not that we don't respect him. It's just that we respect our Church...and he's not in it.

      Delete
    2. And they have pictures of that or is it just heresy from Kiko?

      Delete
    3. So, if the defense for the sitting part of the NCW anti-communion is that the Apostles were "reclining at the table" at the Last Supper, why would the NCW stand at all (to take the body before sitting)? And why would they stand to receive the precious blood? Its so stupid

      Delete
    4. Prior to 2008 they remained sitting. Pope Benedict demanded that they receive communion as the rest of us do which is standing or kneeling. The only thing permitted was for them to remain in their place since the community is small. But give an inch take a mile is their motto. Apparently the Vatican didn't spell it out for them that they are to consume the host when they receive it, so they sit back down and consume it later. Just plain disobedience. The fact that the apostles "reclined at table" was the manner of eating in their day. However, once the church grew into its full awareness of just WHAT was being eaten the church moved towards kneeling and on the tongue in order to better teach through sign and symbol. But Kiko does not believe or teach that his members are really "eating" the Real Body of Christ, so it doesn't matter how they do it. This is why Apuron is no longer bishop of a Catholic Church, just Kiko's.

    5. Omg...Saint John was reclining; but sat up a little. Unreal. Not one worthwhile word uttered. Not one. Notable, however, that he may be among very few bishops who were audibly called Liar. Very uplifting Pastoral visit. Sorry to see eager alter servers in his presence. Awful example. Just awful. Hello, Rome??? You awake?? Sorry to disturb you. Where you reclining?

      The Archdiocese is burning daily to ashes. This may not be such a bad thing. For from the ashes will rise an authentic catholic church loyal to the See of Peter. A loyal and obedient Catholic bishop will be appointed who will work to heal and reconcile the deep division, pain, and anxiety, created by a useless ranting individual who has no direction to lead himself let alone the people of God. In order to assist Rome he should immediately offer his resignation to the Vicar on Christ . Only when a new bishop is appointed can healing and reconciliation begin.

I listened to the Q&A on sound cloud.( https://soundcloud.com/immaculate-heart-of-mary/qa-session-toto-parish-6-15-15 )...We now can conclude that NEO CULT Chief Presbyter Anthony Sablan's Apuron is a deceptive liar when answering the questions from his flock. Could not help but to laugh when he stated that Very Reverend Monsignor James and Reverend Father Paul's Case is at Rome. We all know that it was never forwarded to Rome. Additionally, He stated that he is not forcing the NEO religion on anyone; everyone has the freedom to choose how to worship.... REALLY!!!! Then why are the local seminarians forced to be formed in the NEO/NCW CULT Seminary..... We all know where our future stands as we see the increase rate of NEO Presbyters being incardinated in Guam. The people will have no choice but to abandon the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and become a member of this NEO CULT. Wake up Guam and stop the money!!!

    1. The real issue is not so much whether Apuron actually filed those cases with Rome, but that he has the full authority to restore both priests to their positions making the cases irrelevant. He could do that in an instant but he'd rather hide behind Rome because that's what Gennarini is telling him to do.

    2. Tim's makes more sense. The question really is after what knowing what we know now - Mr. Joe Lastimosa did community service at Santa Barbara as part of his parole requirements. Why is he still dangerous to the community after so many years had passed when he was not dangerous when he did as his parole required. No sense in that. So why punish Fr. Paul for something that was acceptable to them early on. Finance council disproved all the accusations thrown to Msgr James. I don't remember the Archbishop disproving the statement of the Finance Council. I remember the Archbishop repeating the accusations a number of times, but not answering the Finance Council. After knowing all these, the question really is does the Archbishop think he was right in doing what he did to Fr. Paul and Msgr James. - do we really we need Rome to tell us the right thing to do. If the Archbishop would just admit that he was wrong, as Tim said, he has the full authority to restore both priests. Rome will not stop him. Rome will even be happy because that will be two cases less than they have to deal with.

    3. Its called "Pride", The refusal to admit that I made an error in judgement, that I made a mistake. This Capital sin is the cause of Satan falling from Grace and surely the down fall of our fore parents in the garden. Surprisingly, the Sacrament of Penance challenges all of us to renounce our "Pride" in order to confess and name our sins to be forgiven. Why cant our Church leaders teach us these very simple lessons in virtues of Humility? Because of Pride...

    Love this staement...the CCOG will meet with the committee! One day in the near future I will personally meet with the CCOG!

    BTW, who are the members of the Archbishop's committee?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Archbishop's committee (because he doesn't have the decency to sit down with the CCOG himself) is Fr. Jeff SN, George Kalingal, and Mariles Benavente. So go figure. The CCOG met with them once, and Fr. Jeff aside, figured "what the hell are we talking to these people for? Mariles was there to witness to how the Neo saved her, Kalingal was there to practice his peace making skills, and Fr. Jeff was simply tasked with coordinating the thing. But none of these people are the decision makers and have nothing to do with the policies and practices the CCOG wishes to engage. In other words, the one meeting was a typical Apuron tactic to deflect, hide, and obscure. Three members of the CCOG met with them at the invitation of Fr. Jeff simply because the CCOG members are good and sincere people and really thought Apuron was making an attempt to resolve issues. But, no surprise, Kalingal and Benavente merely were running interference for Apuron (I'll leave Fr. Jeff out of this for now.) In other words: WASTE OF TIME.

      Archbishop, there is no reason to meet with anyone. Here's all you need to do:
      1. Restore Msgr. James and Fr. Paul to their positions so they can restore their names and reputations.
      2. Rescind the deed which gave your neo-crook friends control over the Yona property.
      3. Sponsor local vocations to authentic diocesan seminaries.
      4. Get out.

    Dear Tony -

    Such a sad picture of such a sad man. I was at a funeral of a friend today. She was a beautiful spirit and I will miss her dearly. Beautiful mass, but Tony was there. He didn't look very happy sitting right next to Deacon Steve. I wish I had taken a picture. It was kind of comical. But Tony rarely looks happy these days.

    I sure wish Rome would put him out of his misery already. I understand his reluctance to step down. It is not JUST about the money and perks. He has enough money to retire, and enough to retire the Guam debt if he wanted to. He will also miss the attention showered upon him by the kikos who merely use him to usurp his power. He certainly knows that once he is just Tony again, he has no value to them.

    Sad Tony probably feels a slight sense of duty as well. The Holy Spirit cannot have abandoned him so completely that he doesn't at least feel a faint need to "do his duty". I guarantee you all, once Rome tells him to be gone, he will be one of the happiest persons to hear the news. His troubles will be over, he can live a sad lonely life in exile in the Holy Land.

    Unfortunately. our troubles will continue long after he is gone. With all the damage he has caused: emotionally, financially, spiritually. These are the realities that Rome must admit they allowed to occur, without moving earlier as they should have. Every day delay causes more harm, and inflicts more damage to the people of God in Guam.

    Rome, we need your help, and Tony, too, needs your help. He will not step down without your prodding. Help him and us. Send us a true leader. A leader committed to rebuilding what the Jesuits so loving started 400 years ago, that Tony has ruined in just 30 years.

    Help us Rome!

      Calling certain people disrespectful was his ammo. For a Deacon and a member of the NCW our mass in Toto was not important.

      Why? Deacon Claros was forever late for mass that he had to walk up the side aisle up to the altar. Mass has begun.

      Deacon Tony on the other hand is never late for Sunday Masses. On an evening weekday mass, Deacon Tony did come in a few seconds late and Father Mike had just reached the altar. What did Deacon Tony do? He didn't parade up the altar. He simply entered a pew and became a part of the congregation. I admire Deacon Tony for his humbleness.

      Deacon Claros like the AAA loves the limelight. The Mr. Know it all! The Mr. I am the Archbishop's right hand! The Mr. I ham the favorite Deacon of the Archbishop!

    There is no leadership with tony there has not been an episcopal leadership on Guam for the past twenty three years. The same is true on Saipan. These two bishops have given no leadership to the local church and have created the present crisis . They are useless individuals who have damaged the moral fibre of the church. Who in the right mind would listen to Tony he is a complete and utter fool. The sooner he is removed by the Holy Father the better the church will be. . In six months he has made no effort what so ever to reach out and reconcile the archdiocese. In fact he has further divided the catholic church on Guam by his actions. This man is a disgrace to the catholic church and he must Go.

    These are very real issues and tony has divided and damaged the church by his example. he is no longe fit to lead the church and the entire catholic Church of Guam needs to join together in people power and make it clear Tony has divided the church and it needs a new spiritual shepherd. When a leader has lost his capacity to lead we have no option but to bring Guam to the attention of the Pope. The pope already knows about tony and the division of the church on Guam. Sad tragic story being discussed by bishops all over the world. Tony what a fool you have become.

  20. Apuron simply has to put this madness to right - first of all his madness. What about the principle of subsidiarity? He can, as Tim Rohr clearly puts it, put an end to the many divisive issues right here. Why use Rome as a crutch? Does he not feel responsibility to make a decision to alleviate the suffering of the people here? Reading the entries at JW, I am heartened that people get it. In fact they see the issues so clearly that it is entirely moronic of apuron and his groupies to ignore the deafening roar of discontent and lack of trust in apuron. Talk about clueless! It is way worse beyond that for this puppet administration.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Apuron, in ignoring the weaknesses of his fellow presbyters, sets the neo clergy for failure. He ought to value their vocation by releasing them from Guam and facilitate their incardination into their own dioceses where they have families and friends to love them. They deserve a nurturing environment where they can thrive as genuine persons and as authentic priests, holy and chosen to do God's work. Meanwhile we the residents of Guam have to care for our young men and encourage them to respond to God's call if they are truly invited by God. Apuron has to recognize sooner than later that his experiment and excursion with the neo cult has failed in epic proportions. More disaster looms as he maintains a deafening silence on issues.

  24. Jeez, Tim. What an ugly photograph of the snake we have for an Archbishop. The exterior shows what's going on in the interior. Not good. Brother Ton said the Pope is very satisfied with his service. Really? The pope is interested in Climate change. Let him take interest in our island Church where the climate has changed from bad to worse. Climate hot as hell around the Arch. Whew!

      This is a distorted face which manifests a heart and soul that is not at peace with God, himself, or the world around. When a person is not a peace with God this is how they will look. A person living a spiritual life will not look like this. Look at Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen, pope Francis, Mother Theresa, Mother Angelica, Archbishop Flores, Cardinal Tagle, Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Cardinal Secretary of state, Archbishop Mattin Krebs, Archbishop Charles brown, Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald . These faces glow because there people of peace. Same with Monsignor James, Fr. Paul they are at peace it shows in the face. This photo looks distorted and does not portray peace.

  25. Caught you Archbishop. Trying to let us think that you are spiritually moved to make pastoral visits?? You admitted that ROME, ROME, ROME told you to do it. Whoooops. Liar. DIVIDER. HARD TO LISTEN TO TAPE...HEARD YOU LOUD AND CLEAR. CANT WAIT FOR THESE WORDS: I have to go. ROME told me to get out and stay out.

  26. Archbishop Apuron please stop the madness insanity you implemented in our island home.

    Toto meeting causing issues of division on island.

    Even clergy now questioning your ability to unite this archdiocese.

    Insanity must stop.

  27. This evil cannot go unchecked. First and foremost, NO more Money!!!!!!!

    As with Cancer, it does not go away until it is removed. In this instance, can the laity remove the Archbishop since Rome will not?? Writing letters is great, but do those letters ever get a response or action? NO!

    1. 1.12pm correct. But you can stop the money flowing into the chancery and make ton understand that he is unacceptable to our island church. We cannot remove that is the right of the pope. But we can make it clear he is no longer respected in the community. You do have power because the pope is very aware of ton and the division on Guam.

  28. Archbishop asking chancery staff clergy exactly who took this photo. Archbishop is going to ban cell phone photographs at meetings . No cell phones or devices will be allowed into any meeting where Archbishop is present. Total ban on cell phone photographs. Archbishop believes this photo was passed to bishop's in California

    Being able to witness the events which unfolded during the Archbishop's "Pastoral Visit" to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, please join me in celebrating the Toto parishioners as they had the COURAGE to ask the "hard" questions and the questions that's definitely been on all of our minds. Their unity, strength and courage should be mirrored by the rest of us. On the other hand, the answers or lack thereof on behalf of the Archbishop is further proof that he is so far gone. He can't even admit that there is a divide in our Catholic Community, therefore, it is unreasonable for us to expect for him to do anything to fix or resolve "the divide". “You can not fix or change what you don’t acknowledge”!

    On the other hand, Larry Claros.....what an absolute joke. His reaction just proved his guilt. The nerve of him to tell another about disrespect. Don't even want to waste my time on him.

    Thank you TOTO for bringing to light the reality of what is. I hope you have motivated and encouraged many to join in this fight (peacefully and prayerfully, of course). Your courage is contagious and I echo everything you said and expressed that evening.

  30. BINGO! I also got unraveled by the archbishop's use of the word "PERCEPTION" when responding to the division in our church. All of his responses point to his plan not to fix or change anything because he won't acknowledge there is anything wrong. After all, all the pain that has hurt our parish families is just a PERCEPTION. (Just ask the Leon Guerrero, Camacho, Martinez, Duenas, Cruz, Untalan, Palomo, Benavente, Gofigan and many other families.) It is just a PERCEPTION that the RMS is for training for parish priests , that the arch tried to cover up that was really for training in the neo way by drafting a letter and trying to get the donor to sign to protect his backside ...YEARS LATER. It is just a PERCEPTION that no one is forced to join the way...but the dismantling of our parishes through weakening of our councils, changes in policies and schedules to better suit neo ways leave us with parishes that our parents and grandparents would not recognize. It is a PERCEPTION that he trashed Benavente and Gofigan, but can't seem to enforce the diocese policy on sexual abuse. It is a PERCEPTION that he supports a group that does not see the mass as a sacrifice but a laid back celebration. It is only a PERCEPTION that there has been a lack of transparency when it comes to donations and resources of the Catholic church which were made possible by generations of faithful parishioners. It was but a PERCEPTION that the Barrigada neo parish tried to trade our altar for a celebration table...perhaps to match the kiko artwork behind the altar. The litany could go on and on and more of the true Catholics know it and have now learned from the Toto parishioners. Apuron and advisors...you've been blinded and no longer care about the flock you promised to lead and protect. And that is NO PERCEPTION!!!!
