BLOCKLEY: "YOU CAN POST THIS"

This is what I saw in my own words.

This week I have  been troubled over the comments appearing on the blog that Archbishop Apuron may have been blackmailed by Adrian Cristobal in order to be ordained.

In August 1992 I was a resident at the Agana Cathedral at the personal request of Archbishop Apuron. During my visit I sensed that Adrian, who was the vocation director and also the cathedral rector at the time, seemed to have power and authority over Archbishop Apuron.

After being screamed at by Adrian and dodging pots and pans that Adrian was throwing around the kitchen, I informed Adrian that I would report him to Archbishop Apuron.  He told me to get out the archdiocese, the Archbishop does as he tells him, and the Archbishop will not even see me.

After typhoon Omar in 1992 I went to see Archbishop Apuron to report Adrian for what I considered abnormal behavior of a Roman Catholic priest. Sure enough, Archbishop Apuron would not see me prior to my leaving Guam.

Upon further reflection of my stay in Agana cathedral in 1992, I saw a series of incidents which confirmed to me that Adrian had great power over the Archbishop. Remember I was a guest of the Archbishop and the Archbishop wanted me to become a priest for the Archdiocese of Agana.

I had personally requested Archbishop Apuron to write my letters for my preference of seminary which I would study in. The archbishop wrote all my letters conceding to my wishes of where I would and would not study.

Adrian was clearly not happy with my presence as a guest of the Archbishop from the time of my arrival on Guam in 1992. Further, I noticed seminarians having to suck up to Adrian for fear that without Adrian's blessing, Apuron would not ordain them.

I always believed that there was more going on in the Guam situation. I believed it was a very unhealthy church. Even back in 1992  Adrian intended to become the next archbishop of Guam. Complete insane situation.

Very carefully this week I have followed the comments on the blackmail and frankly I believe there is truth to it. I am personally asking that if anyone has concrete experience that may indicate this that they write to Archbishop Krebs with concerns.

I really do believe something is seriously amiss in the administration of the Archdiocese which began way before the arrival of NCW. In fact, the core problems of the Archdiocese were very visible to insiders before the NCW came to Guam.

I honestly believe the blackmail of the archbishop calls for attention. It is very possible Adrian has power over him and the decisions he makes. That was clear to me from day one.

Apuron is unable to make administrative decisions. This is main reason why there is a great poverty of spirit on Guam and the region today. There is no spiritual depth to the leadership. This is the sad reality. Blackmail I believe may well have happened."

Tim you can post this. It needs to be said.

  1. I am a former seminarian of this Archdiocese. Father Michael Blockly states the truth. I cannot reveal who I am because I am truly fearful for my life as I've been threatened by these men in power many times. I witnessed first hand the gluttony of Adrian Cristobal, the avoidance of the Vicar General who didn't want to come back to Guam because as he said it himself, he is allergic to the island, and I've witnessed blackmail, black listing, demotions, and thrown priests away from Guam. Please Rome, we need your help! You must assign a new administration soon! Thank you and God Bless!

  2. Dr. Robert Bonifacio can testify to these malicious threats as well! Go see him and ask him about what Archbishop told him before he was humiliated at FD!

    1. Dr. Bonifacio was one of my favorite teachers at FD and I owe many of the views that I hold about the church to him. He always taught us to think critically about the Catholic faith and demand change when needed. How was he humiliated at FD?

  4. This is huge! First, I encourage that former seminarian to not feel afraid at all and to come out. I will pray that you do. Secondly, how very sorry and ashamed I feel as to how Fr. Matthew Blockly was treated and I surmise that many other seminarians, religious priests and lay people who have felt horrible hurts also do know how very ashamed and sorry I feel about what happened to you. While people want me to take sides, I cannot in good conscience to do so since I feel, still to this very day, indebtedness for your generosity in forming me in my educational pursuits. It pains my heart how I left the Archdiocese in good standing because till this day, I feel a tug in my heart to serve as a priest. When I tried to go back, I was met with road block after road block because they were forcing the NCW and the RMS formation on me. As I will repeat over and over again, I'm living in the missions and I'm already missionary. When we impose a movement's charism upon the diocesan priestly formation, we do a disservice to the Church and especially in not honoring the movement of the Holy Spirit in that person's life. As an example, the newly erected John Paul the Great Seminary is not fully impaneled with faculty or formations at all, yet they must commute from Malojloj to Yo'ña to go attend the RMS faculty sessions. Where is the mercy in this at all as you still force only one spirituality and one kind of movement upon these "other" seminarians. Remember Fr. Jeffrey? He was a Marist before? He felt called differently didn't he? And now we have a local priest who will stay and not go. The Marists respected the movement of the Holy Spirit in Fr. Jeff's life didn't they? And so, my belief is that RMS should close and be transformed into a homeless shelter since many of those "seminarians" come from very poor countries already. Why can't we honor Archbishop Flores who wanted his home to be converted to a homeless shelter. Guma' San Jose only occupies less than 20 rooms in Harmon. Why can't we renovate Archbishop Flores' house and then put the Museum there before Archbishop Apuron bulldozer that historical home? Archbishop Flores voted for Apuron but this enough should send chills down your spine since trees are literally growing in that living room. As a predecessor, why couldn't you honor the man who gave you his seat on his death bed Archbishop? And so, let's be honest for a minute here and please notice truly the hurt of the People of God who have walked away from our Archdiocese feeling so bad. As a member of this Archdiocese, I humbly beg for the forgiveness of all people who have felt so bad and horrible after being here for a while and continue to beg for mercy for this island and people that I serve without necessary "notice." I won't say much about how I was treated as Im sure Gid will deal with your soul when your life is over. I let God be the judge in your final hour! But I continually ask for forgiveness from all these people who have felt so bad after spending time here on Guam and in Oceania! May God forgive us all! Love, prayers, and hope for a Newly revived Catholic Archdiocese, Know of my love, prayers and support for those " little" bones in our midst who have felt hurt by those in power and those who cannot reveal themselves out of fear! Know of my prayers and again beg for your pardon on us on Guam!

    1. Sorry for my mistakes on here...for some reason my devices keep changing my words...please allow me to correct them...*in good conscience do so, *with faculty formators, *he was a Marist before., * bulldozes, *I'm sure God, *little ones. I'm using an IPad and sometimes when you write on here, it translates for you. I re-read my posts, correct them, and then when they get posted online, there are grammatical errors everywhere...but I'll say this one more time, please find it in your hearts to forgive. It is the only way to freedom. Even after all of this Archbishop, I forgive you! However, I am not so sure others can, especially the lay faithful who is God in your midst too!

    2. of course we are called to forgive. but it doesn't necessarily mean apuron should continue to sit on the archbishop's chair.

    3. True. We can forgive an airline pilot for veering off course, but that doesn't mean we should continue to let him fly the plane until he crashes us all into a mountain. Of course, we all think Apuron is flying the plane.

    4. Jonathan, forget the grammatical errors and all, we get the message loud and clear. Your compassion and concern speak volumes that words can never so justice. Thank you for your restraint and sense of dignity when leadership does not even attempt to dignify itself or pick up the sacred trust from the puddle that they have thrown us into. Bless you, son of Guam!

Thank you Jonathan. I remember meeting you at my ordination.

Today Apuron and his minions all preside over the death of the Archdiocese. Every day he remains in office with his bullies the cancer spreads all over the archdiocese. This is the sad reality of an island church which is dead because of its leadership. High numbers are now leaving the catholic church on Guam all because of Apuron and his bullies. But I remain convinced that out of the burnt ashes of Guam's catholic church an authentic church will emerge. A church truly built on the rock of Peter and with an authentic catholic bishop. I have always maintained the problem with Guam Saipan are the two hideous bishops who have led them. No character No values and absolutely incapable of leading. What we experience today is only the result of the last twenty years of total utter moral decay of Leadership. I mean just look at them and ask yourself is there anyone among chancery staff who by their person calls for our respect. No. Leaders need character values. As I have so often said to the Holy see the greatest problem on Guam Saipan today is the poverty of spirit in leadership. The problem is now so bad there is no hope of appointing a Saipan bishop for at least two or three more years. The mess of the camacho years is so great utter nightmare for Rome. This is compiled by the decay of Guam which places the entire pacific region as a total ecclesial disaster. And leading the ecclesial disaster is the pot and pan throwing AdrIan. Now come on Guam wake up and see the disaster. Church has become a joke in the region. how can anyone take it seriously. Thank God for Tim Rohr CCOG and a small group of priests wanting change but afraid to induce change because of personal fear of little hitlers playing God.Hitler only came to power because people allowed him. By allowing the Guam hitlers to dominate your island home culture you allow it. You have no authority to remove Apuron but you do have the personal invitation of the Roman pontiff to go out into the island and create a mess in order to bring about the changes needed. Apuron all chancery are a joke no one takes them seriously. When a bishop is appointed who is respected then we give our respect. But I for one will not respect a complete fool.

How do we paint a portrait of people who all want to have the center seat? Who will build a beautiful church with people who are only interested in erecting the tower? Who will bake the birthday cake with people who only want to put the candles on? We all know the problem. When those in the Guam chancery all want the honor of being the centre portrait on the wall there will never be peace on Guam. There will never be peace on Guam while Apuron, Adrian, David are wanting to be the centre portrait on the wall. The problem is I'm not sure how they will look on an oil canvas. May be water color?

Through the Junglewatch publication I would like to congratulate the four sisters of mercy who celebrated their 60th anniversary of Religious life today. I have huge respect for the sisters of mercy in particular Sister Bridget Perez. Sister Bridget was my friend on Saipan ( hope that does not go against you sister) she is a wonderful warm dedicated religious woman and I have only love and admiration for her and the sisters of mercy. Same goes for her sister, sister Angela Perez. They are wonderful examples of religious women who we all respect.
As many readers will know Sister Angela saved the Mount Carmel school Saipan from bankruptcy and moral decay. For she truly knows how to administer a catholic school. After her leaving and with the furthered constant decay of the catholic school system many catholic schools closed down in the death of the church in the camacho years. But with the sisters of mercy the catholic school system was safe. It is my understanding the sisters of mercy left Saipan - well intelligent people would hardly stay with the decaying camacho !

Congratulations sister of mercy more power to you and many more years to come of service to the church on Guam. Sisters of Mercy are an inspiration to all. Sister Bridget come and join us for breakfast Manila !

    1. The jubilee mass was beautiful. I was going to skip the mass until I found out Msgr James was the main celebrant and Påle' Eric was the homilist. Påle' Eric' s homily was very moving.

One can see the division in the church. Aside from Apuron, the neo priests who felt obligated to attend were Michael Jucutan, Adrian, Msgr BB and David C. Quitugua. It was nice of Father Julius to show up.

Observing those on the altar, Adrian left the mass. Apuron, Michael and Adrian looked rather bored during the homily as they yawned away. As usual Apuron, kept looking at his watch.

It was nice to see the Capuchin boys who are in formation take part in the celebration. Seeing former altar servers from the Cathedral was a sight to remember.

In conclusion the jubilee celebration for the religious women is not important to the NEO priests because they do not support the local religious women on island. Apuron's support for them is not there either. His presence and the presence of his neo priest is all for show.
