Thank you for providing the senators e-mail addresses. I sent them all the following e-mail.
Dear Senator:
Please vote for Bill 326-33 to lift the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse cases.
I am a survivor of many occurrences of incest by a close relative when I was 11 years old. The trauma resulted in many years of pain, rage, confusion, panic attacks, fear of the opposite sex, depression, impaired ability to study and work, etc. etc. Although I have largely overcome all of these negative conditions, permanent scars remain.
When I was 16 my sexual abuser stated he wanted to have my younger sister who is afflicted with cerebral palsy stay with him overnight, I told my mother what had been done to me at age 11 and was able to save my sister from the same fate.
Senator, if you pass Bill 326-33 to lift the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse you will potentially save thousands of children from the agony that I went through. And you will enable countless damaged survivors a way to achieve justice.

Melinda, thank you for your courage. I pray that your healing will continue. Thank you for speaking to the senators directly as this will affirm that our problem is a community issue and not necessarily limited to one faction of our society. God bless you and your courage to have saved your sister. All the senators need to vote yes on this issue. Those that don't or abstain sit on the other side of this fence. You are for or against. There is no middle ground. Thank you.

ReplyDelete- Thank You, Melinda, for bringing up the other side of apurun's misdeeds. This Bill is not only for the Catholic Priests who abused altar boys but For Everyone who committed these hideous crimes and the Survivors they left behind. Praying that God Grant You the healing that you need because you can never forget what happened to you and what almost happened to your sister! God Bless You and Your Family Always!
