TOO BAD IT TOOK LAW SUITS

Archdiocese promises to tend to flock

Following two new allegations of sexual abuse by clergy this week, the  “Archdiocese of Agana pledges to do all it can, under new leadership, to ensure that all people in our care, most especially our young and most vulnerable, thrive in a safe and loving environment fully protected from any harm,” a press release stated.

On Wednesday, KUAM News first reported two new complaints were filed in the Superior Court of Guam. 63-year-old Paul Joseph Borja alleged that while he was an altar boy at the Our Lady of Peace and Safe Journey Catholic Church in Chalan Pago, Fr. Antonio Cruz sexually molested him.  Borja was 12-years-old. CONTINUED

  1. I don't know how many Altar boys Antonio Cruz molested or tried to molest during his tenure while in Chalan Pago. He started his sexual advance when I was 14 years and I never gave in. One time he called me to the 2nd floor where is bedroom is located and when I opened the door and I saw him playing with his you know what naked on his back to coax me but instead I just turned around and went home. I believe Paul Borja and Deplata who came forward about Antonio Cruz. Up to now I still wonder when people who confesses to Antonio Cruz back then are their sins forgiven? I never confess to Antonio Cruz because I know what type of a person he is. While serving Mass under him I could not comprehend him giving Masses for what he is "A Molester.

    1. Anonymous 4:02 p.m. So terrible for you and the other young boys and teens. I wonder how many victims left the Church due Tony Cruz's sexual abuse and the lifelong suffering they endured or continue to endure.

To Paul, Vincente, and Anon 4:02, thank you for your courage to come forward about the sexual abuses you endured at the hands Frs. Cruz and Bouillard. Many in the Guam’s Catholic community (and those from afar, like me) support your personal and public efforts toward relieving your plight of living with this horrible childhood experience. I continue to pray for all of you for your healing and for as much normalcy in your lives despite having this experience in your childhood. Paul and Vicente, in reporting your abuses, you have done the right and courageous thing. Doing so is good for you in your healing and in finding equity, and good for our Church in its effort to cleanse it of its the hidden practice of child sexual abuse.

  2. More reports of sexual abuse and the details are nauseating. Anon, 4:02, I hope that you will eventually be among those who have already reported Antonio Cruz as their abuser.
