A REALLY BAD GUY

This is great. It will renew our resolve to go after this charlatan for trafficking in bogus government documents. Here is just a partial list of Quitugua's slimy and vicious acts against the faithful of this archdiocese (links forthcoming):
  1. November 21, 2011. Participated with Apuron and Alberto in the theft of the Yona property from the Archdiocese of Agana.
  2. December 6, 2011. Lied to the Archdiocesan Finance Council, knowing that the Yona property had already been given to RMS.
  3. December 6, 2011. Threatened the Archdiocesan Finance Council and accused the members of a “vulnus” (trying to harm) Apuron.
  4. July 16, 2013. Wrote the letter demanding that Fr. Paul Gofigan resign as pastor of Santa Barbara and crafted the threat: “or face a more arduous and painful closure to your assignment.”
  5. July 26, 2014. Wrote and delivered the decree removing Msgr. James Benavente as Rector of the Cathedral. Refused to give Msgr. Benavente a list of the charges against him.
  6. August 3, 2014. Closed the Cathedral Museum one day after it was opened.
  7. August 4, 2014. Illegally withheld paychecks from Cathedral employees unless they signed a confidentiality agreement.
  8. August 7, 2014. Confiscated documents from the Cathedral that would have exonerated Msgr. James of the charges of financial mismanagement.
  9. December 5, 2014. Denied John Toves a meeting with Apuron and threatened to call the police if Toves visited the chancery again.
  10. January 23, 2015. Publicly trashed Msgr. James Benavente in the Cathedral parish bulletin by publishing a so-called “internal review.”
  11. November 29, 2015. Published in the Umatuna a bogus certificate of title for the Yona property, perpetrating a hoax that Quitugua was originally party to.
  12. June 5, 2016. Signed the decree banning the Concerned Catholics of Guam and decreeing it a “prohibited society.”
  13. September 7, 2016. Refused entrance of LFM to RMS saying that Cardinal Filoni had instructed that “no such visit can be made to the seminary.”

  1. what is this Reckless Callous Evil individual doing representing clergy on a board. He is a liar and a cheat. Archbishop Byynes it will be to your disadvantage to keep the lurch on board.

  2. We already know that he's got a line to Cardinal Filoni, maybe that's why he's still being given these kinds of responsibilities.

  3. OH hell no!!! Stop funding the diocese till they RID idiots like quitugua, brother tony and the rest of these stupid neos. They are snakes in positions waiting for an opportunity to strike so they can say they need to evangelize the rest of the faithful.

Kick these fake idiots out of the diocese. They were the ones who put the diocese in the predicament they are in.

    1. Agreed. Why does Bp. Byrnes keep Lurch on staff with a list of diabolic offenses like that?! Illegally withholding paychecks from Cathedral employees was brutal. He should be defrocked!

Was the $800,000 missing from the Cathedral ever found? Is Lurch related to the San Francisco Bank Of Guam Manager who hid Apuron at her home in Fairfield, California? Both of them are named Quitugua.

  5. OMG!!!! Whose bright idea was it to appoint Quitigua on both councils? It was probably the clueless Jeff and the pacifist Byrnes. One step forward, two steps backwards. Oh well. No donations from me for sure.

  6. In addition to formally advising Bp. Byrnes of your justified outrage, boycotting collection baskets is the only way to go. Money is the only language chanceries understand.

Give your collection basket and diocesan appeal money directly to parish social services instead. If you normally use serial-numbered collection envelopes signed out to you by the parish, just put sealed empty ones in the baskets.

Don't expect support from other people on those councils. The fact that they willingly work with a criminal like Lurch shows that they have no respect for the Faithful. If they found Lurch's serial misconduct sinful, they would have resigned from the councils en masse long ago. That didn't happen.

  10. Aggressive affirmative action against Archdiocese needs to be taken. Other names on these lists that are unacceptable. Good names of priests are missing.

    1. Right. When Bp. Byrnes first arrived on Guam, he said morale among neglected priests was very low. Really?!! Resolving that should be his first priority because Apuron mistreated all of the good guys.

Pandering to Apuron's clerical cabal on those archdiocesan councils won't do Byrnes any good. They can't be trusted. Some of them are probably the pervert's Neocat spies.

  12. Who is the delegate under that one memo or order or Byrnes? The one with the authority to investigate and research the way and come to a recommendation re where it will stand in our archdiocese?

    3. If Fr Danny F isnt the delegate to the Kikos, and there is no one to fill the spot, then I guess that shows bishop byrnes not committed to fixing those problems

  17. The same people who caused the problems, Concealed abuse, are back as consultators to Archbishop Byrnes. How will this Archdiocese ever heal evolve with same faces returned. Doomed for disaster.

  18. Sure, Quitugua is the slimiest and most despicable of the choices for the Presbyteral Council, but what of the others on this list? I count at least 5 (or more) full-fledged NCW presbyters, NCW associates, or NCW sympathizers in the lot. That's one-third of the group! Who in the heck is advising AB Byrnes and who is he listening to? And just when I thought I could start giving back into the Sunday collections! SMH.

  19. Apuron must be defrocked, nothing less. until then, don't donate to the Church. If he is given a sentence of a lifetime of prayer and solitude, then continue to withhold your donations. Otherwise, we will still be paying for his subsistence; and when he dies, he will have to be buried in the Agana Cathedral.

  20. The list of the Consultors and Presbyteral Council, both vital decision-making/advising bodies, was really disconcerting. I am shocked by the clergy who made the list! Is this where our Church has gone to? Thrown to the dogs? There is less and less of that shred of dignity and respectsbility left. Why does the leadership keep making the same stupid mistakes? What lame excuses had the clergy given this time? It is unfortunate that we are just too terrified to confront the truth and the reality of this mess, and so we reluctantly tolerate falsehood and deceit to undermine our efforts! Archbishop Byrnes, please do not get into a vacation mode, pursue a warrior mode which is the only way to decisively resolve the issues. Emotional Jeff does not make the cut in the position he is in. If all of you are afraid to hurt the feelings of others, then you are not fit to lead us, it is far better to admit that you cannot do the job, and spare us the run around or the roundabout way of leading. Save us the faithful Catholics the time, effort, energy and money to dance to your absurd music!
