THE KEEPERS

To answer 2:49pm. Interesting question. By the use of your word "stain" you may mean sin.The stain of sin passed to Adrian David. It would be foolish to say no others possibly knew. Situation much more complex than black white. I would say that local priests suffered some quietly because of Apuron Flores. This is a very complex situation. We cannot assume. More to the point there were also seminarians priests who questioned what was happening. A person who questioned them were silently removed made out to be bad guys. So I ask you to please be very sensitive in this area. I would say only two priests used the information to gain power over Apuron to carry out their agenda which was to appoint Adrian as Archbishop of Guam.A seminarian or a priest who was a threat to Adrian would not last. He would make their life hell.
Even in 2000 Adrian Pius Apuron and another were prepared to kill to keep their dark secrets.

THE KEEPERS

This docuseries examines the decades-old murder of Sister Catherine Cesnik and its suspected link to a priest accused of abuse.

  1. Yes Tim how right you are. There are some on this blog who have followed the life of Sister Catherine Cesnix S.S.N.D.
Sister Catherine was a young Nun who taught English and Drama at Archbishop Keough high school in Baltimore. Sister had discovered many of her students had been abused by Father Joseph Maskell. Sister Catherine questioned him and her superiors concerning him. On Jan 3rd 1970 the young sister Catherine was discovered dead. Believed murdered by a priest she had threatened to expose.

  2. If I'm not mistaken, just recently (about a few weeks or so ago), evidence showed that the priest was not guilty of murdering the nun.

    1. True, Anon 6:49 PM. Reportedly, DNA evidence obtained from exhumation of the nun's remains cleared the priest of her murder last February. The murderer's name was not revealed. However, there is no doubt that he was a predatory pedophile who abused students at the school where she taught.

The docuseries has been criticized for its significant inaccuracies and Catholic-bashing because DNA evidence clearing the priest was intentionally ignored.

    2. 4:31AM, I have not finished watching the documentary , but will do so tonight. From what I watched, there may not be any DNA involved in the murder by Maskell, but it seems that he may have been the mastermind behind the murder.

The murder may or may not ever be solved.

The fact remains that to this day, THE CHURCH CONTINUES TO COVER UP ABUSE CASES OF PRIEST, BISHOPS, ETC WITH PROBABLY THE HELP OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES.

    3. Bullets and blunt instruments don't leave DNA. The docuseries has already pretty much ruled out Maskell as the actual killer, so I don't know what the criticism or "Catholic-bashing" is about.

  3. By posting this, are you accusing these priests on Guam of conspiring to commit murder? That's how it appears.

    1. If I wanted to accuse someone, you can be sure I would. Meanwhile, I am sifting through all the ISP data attached to the anonymous comments containing threats against me. BTW, is this you? 117.20.127.250

    2. I don't know if that's me, but I didn't threaten you. I assume you're the one who highlighted the text saying those priests were prepared to kill, which sounds to me like a conspiracy to commit murder.

  4. As was true in Baltimore, what is worse than the horrific abuse of so many innocents here on Guam, is the COVER UP of the abuse. As the numbers climb and our island mourns the loss of innocence and we become world wide news headlines, we have to wonder about the incredible cover up from all involved. If one is to believe the numerous allegations, the shame is on the whole community here. I just can't believe that these young victims did not report or tell someone- parents, family members, teachers, counselors, principals, other priests, mayors, or parish or community leaders in general. The denials, excuses, shaming, scoldings, threats, and coverup must have been so demeaning and devastating to these young people. It's like being abused all over again but this time, by the very people who were supposed to love, protect and support them. I watched "The Keepers", a documentary on Netflix, about a group of brave women seeking the truth about the 1969 murder of a Catholic nun in Baltimore, Maryland. Like me, I hope you will see the incredible similarities with what is happening here on Guam with the sexual abuse of minors and the coverup by the local archbishop and the Catholic Church, in general.

  5. Just watched the first three episodes of "The Keepers" on NetFlix. Like "Spotlight," this is a "must watch" movie, and which, in my opinion, continues where "Spotlight" ends. Watch it, then tell others about it!
