INTELLECT, HUMBLE LIFE, COMPASSION FOR THE POOR. SIGH.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Pope Francis will be welcomed in this Catholic heartland on Thursday by a Filipino cardinal who might one day succeed him: a boyish-looking priest who rode the bus as a bishop and has impressed many with his intellect, humble life and compassion for the poor.

    APURON- Hides

    1. I think one of these days we will but it will not be soon. The Guam Catholics must get on the same page and insist that our religious leaders follow the 2 greatest commandments and be more in touch and sensitive to our spiritual needs. Unfortunately, we have priests and other religious who obviously are in their chosen vocation for the wrong reasons as evidenced by how they treat people and conduct themselves in the community. I venture to say that we've lost some baptized Catholics to other churches because they were turned off by pretentious Catholic religious "leaders". Former Catholics even report that they get better treatment elsewhere.
I think this is an opportune time to discuss among ourselves on how our Catholic faith community can improve and grow. We ALL need to work together!

  2. Some Churches (those on the altar) deprive the people of God's love, truth, and will.
O' my Jesus, the world needs more Cardinal Luis Tagel!
In Your Precious name, help those in need by sharing him. Amen.

    1. Amen! If you watched the arrival of the Pope in Manila...what a huge hug he gave to Tagle. As for APURON, he has to inch his way to the Pope just to hold his hand.

I sense the jealousy of APURON towards C. Tagle. After all here is a man 10 years younger than APURON who in less than a year of being appointed Archbishop, became a Cardinal. APURON can dream all he wants...just as he tainted the names of good priests, so now his name is tainted in Rome!

  3. Pope Francis and Cardinal Tagle continue to lead and serve by example, compassion and great humility. AAA would have been made a cardinal if he was anything like them.

  4. Maybe AAA has some mental/physical sickenss he is not revealing and the medication he takes makes him act in mysterious ways or he has been drugged and hypnotized.

    1. I wonder if the heart surgery messed him up. Nah! His true self became more evident with each passing year. Too bad and too sad for him as people actually liked and respected him during his early years as a bishop. Delusions of grandeur took over his spiritual compass and his downward spiral is a matter of record. I still pray for him though.

  5. Cardinal Tagle did the homily at Monsignor James' mass for the celebration of his 20th Anniversary as a priest. He is a very humble man and a wonderful speaker.

    1. I remember he came to Guam when he was still Archbishop Tagle to give the homily at the cathedral for the installation of the knights and dames of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. In his homily he told a story that I, as a teacher of young children, found charming. He said some parents brought their very difficult-to-handle daughter to him hoping he could turn her around. She wasn't in awe of him at all and proceeded to list her parents' hypocrisies. She then stated to Archbishop Tagle, "My parents are fakes and so are you!" I wish he'd told us how he handled the situation. The point of his homily was the importance of being genuine and not being hypocrites.

    2. Indeed he did. The first thing Cardinal Tagle said was that Msgr. James asked him not to speak about him (Monsignor). Both of these reverends are very humble servants and it is no wonder the great number of followers they have. The mutual respect they have for each other and the people is so profound. There is so much more to be desired as a Catholic in our Guam diocese. Thus I continue to pray and not lose hope that our people will rejoice in the rebuilding of our church community in the coming months. Hopefully, Cardinal Tagle puts in a good word about the wonderful and faithful people on Guam who have not abandoned their faith despite the divisiveness brought on by AAA. It seems to always be a dog and pony show whenever AAA and his minions are in the limelight. Opportunity los in our Holy Father being so close but yet so far... Biba Katoliku! p.s. AAA is still seething from the 20th Anniversary reception where Cardinal Tagle and Monsignor were the "stars" of the night while AAA sat in the shadows of the dark kingdom AAA himself cast upon our catholic community. Oh, the conundrum! lol... Lord, have mercy on him...

    3. Remember, his whole homily was about the dramas of being a priest: the interior drama of being called to serve; the hidden drama of prophecy; and the drama of having "to be a visible sign and agent of unity without negating, without destroying the diverse gifts given by God to the community."

      He continued with this:
"That will require of a priest a lot of purification of motivation. Purification of relationships; honesty; courage; transcendence. Going beyond one’s moods, one’s likes, for the sake of the common good. As human beings, of course we have our preferences. But as a Pastor, you die to them. And even to people whom you do not naturally like, you extend a welcoming hand for the common good for the community."

Truer words, Cardinal Tagle. Thank you for being such a powerful example in humility for us -- in words and in action. We were blessed to hear you speak!

    4. Yes, and too bad Apuron slept through it. He trashed Msgr. James within days. I'd say "what a freak", but he was only following orders. "The floor of hell...."

  8. from inside Manila cathedral a priest responds to the question, did archbishop Apuron meet the pope? " Apuron had no chance to meet the pope. How could he in the midst of fellow sycophants!"

    1. I'm glad Pope Francis did not give him the satisfaction of meeting with him. The Pope has better things to do than to meet with a disgraced archbishop.

    1. He's there somewhere. Look for the bishop with the Kmart box of chocolates and the two boboys.

    2. Yep he was sitting in the altar section. There were a few quick shots of him. I think he fell asleep during the Pope's homily or looking at his watch again. I didn't see the boboys. Surprising they didn't wave their Little GUAM flags! Maybe the got seats behind the pillars!

  11. We are trying to see if Apuron is in the MOA arena with the Filipino bishops. Notice also Pope Francis embraced bishop gabby Reyes of Antipolo. pope see,s to embrace bishops he knows share his concerns for the poor and those in need. He did not embrace Apuron who seems only to embrace the NCW.

  12. The Holy Father just shared on his desk he has a statue of St. Joseph sleeping. When he has a problem he writes the problem on a piece of paper, places paper under the statue, and asks St. Joseph to dream about his problem. Wonder if Holy Father Pope Framcis has placed Apuron under the statue. Who knows just thinking!
