A VILLAGE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO THE TRUTH...NOT THAT IT WILL MATTER

Since last July, Archbishop Apuron has been continually trashing Msgr. James Benavente for the Cathedral's debt. And he has continued to publicly trash his priest-son despite NEVER giving Msgr. James a hearing.

In addition, the financial professionals who know the real story have continually challenged Archbishop Apuron's account with the facts. Apuron, as usual, does not respond. He wants and needs his lies to continue.

The major point that Archbishop Apuron keeps trashing Msgr. James about is the original cost to renovate the cathedral, a project which was begun in 1996 and completed in 1998.

Let's review Mr. Joseph Rivera's account of the original 6.8 million dollar cost for renovation:

  • The total cost of the renovation was in excess of $6.8 million;
  • Msgr. James secured Federal Funding for the project, totaling $2.14 million;
  • Msgr. James secured Public Donations totaling $1.27 million;
  • Msgr. James secured Contractor/Supplier Donations totaling $145,000.00
  • Msgr. James had the Basilica Approved as a Federal Historic Preservation Site, which entitled it to certain grants and funding;
  • Through consolidation with other loans, the interest rate was reduced to 4.125%;
  • Project balance as of  June 30, 2014 was only $1.73 million

Of course to the rabid kiko's, of which Apuron is one, actual facts don't matter, only trashing your enemies does. And on January 23, 2015, Apuron again publicly trashed Msgr. James with an unsigned insert in the U Matuna purporting to be an "internal review".

So, because Archbishop Apuron shows no regard for truth nor for mere human decency, we will continue with our own campaign of truth here on JungleWatch in the hopes that our Vatican readers will finally see the big LIE that this man is.

We have already noted over and over that no financial project of the archdiocese can move forward without the signed approval of Archbishop Apuron, especially a multi-million dollar project like the renovation of the Cathedral which Msgr. James was tasked by Apuron to oversee.

Since the local village idiots continue to doubt this fact, perhaps this letter will help.

Because the project totaled over 2 million dollars, the approval of the pope himself was necessary. So here we see the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, the Congregation which oversees Guam, asking Pope John Paul II, in behalf of Archbishop Apuron, permission to proceed with the project. The Congregation is asking in behalf of Archbishop Apuron, of course, because Archbishop Apuron, NOT MSGR. JAMES, is asking for approval to proceed with a multi-million dollar project. Yet, we poor ignorant faithful Catholics are lied to over and over by this archbishop who wants us to believe that it was Msgr. James himself who incurred this debt.

Two years later the project was completed. (Can you imagine how long it would have taken if Adrian was in charge?) And Archbishop Apuron gushed publicly about its success. We see Msgr. James' signature at the bottom of this proclamation obviously because he was in charge of the project.

Msgr. James was hardly out of the seminary when he was assigned to be the rector of the Cathedral and then tasked with probably the biggest and most costly project the archdiocese had ever undertaken. And not only had Msgr. James performed well, he had saved the archdiocese millions by procuring additional funding as shown by Mr. Rivera.

However, at the hands of the evil Kiko's, Apuron, 16 years later, turns on Msgr. James and trashes him with the most outrageous lies. Too bad he forgot that documents like these exist.

Now we all know who MUST BE REMOVED...as if we didn't already.

  1. Who removed Mr. Rivera from the parish council? Was it the pastor himself or was it the pastor at the request of Apuron?

    1. Thanks for asking. At the request of Mr Ruvera I have deleted the mention of this. I can say though that Mr Rivera was one if the 4 members of the former archdiocesan finance council who was terminated by Apuron for opposing the transfer of title if the Yona property to RMS.

  2. For sure only a bishop can ask Rome to spend a substantial amount of money. Monsignor James is only a project manager. Monsignor did not ask Rome's approval for the project or for the bank of Guam loans. Once more Monsignor James was doing very well in fundraising reducing principle & interest. With only 1.7m left to raise best to have left him at the cathedral and clear the amount. David simply does not have the personality, practical awareness, street wise wisdom, to raise such amounts. can you see him at a dinner party encouraging people to give to projects. no personality. people give to charity only if they like the person asking.

  3. What ever happened to accountability of the Captain when certain improprieties happen under his command. I cant believe that he is claiming he does not know what is really happening, after all the facts presented thus far show otherwise. It is obvious that Msgr James is being portrayed as being the cause of financial mismanagement, however it is AAA's signature that are on the documents? What further proofs are needed by the Vatican or all the faithful who are refusing to accept that there are improper and unjust practices taking place within the Catholic Church in Guam, and our spiritual leader who is supposed to be the curator of souls is at the fore front of all this improprieties, concerning himself primarily with materialistic aspects of mamon and power... Who then is taking care of the sheep?

  4. Mass of Election at CB this morning. Couldn't just leave in a prayerful mode, happy for the Elect. NOOOO, have to hear Ashton Wong tell how he was drunk and hungover when he entered the Seminary. More inspiration. God Bless and sustain those entering the Church this Easter. Takes Grace and corresponding courage.

    Real great motivation to contribute to the Annual Appeal. Another FLOP. Good Job.

    BTW, please fix the audio on the stream. How hard can that be? Thanks, Msgr. David for getting right on it.

    1. Ashton can be deciphered with headphones on the stream. Audio still broken. The Drunken theme can be readily understood. Common problem? Or part of the narrative the robots recite.

    2. Although Ashton's message was more eloquent and mature than Gabe's it still makes the RMS seminary out to be like a place for rehab! Really! I mean, could this guy really be accepted, "drunk" into a REAL seminary? That's what these testimonies seem to tell me, that if it weren't for the seminary, they'd still be getting drunk and "taking advantage of girls". What kind of screening process does this seminary have that it accepts young men in their worst time? I guess that's how the Way recruits ... all you have to do is stand up for the vocations call (even if you're wasted) and YOU'RE IN!!!

    3. St.Patrick's seminary for sure does not accept drunks into the formation programs.

      I will phone the President Rector to ask if drunks are accepted . I would suspect the president rector of St.Patricks would require a potential seminarian to be dry for at least three years prior to emtrance.

      Rms Guam appears to now be attracting dysfunctionals from all over the world . Rejections from major US seminaries now accepted into RMS.

    4. There is word going around that Fr. Tom was so aghast of Ashton's testimony that he dressed him down afterwards, stating among other things that with kids in the audience, no one speaks that way in Church, at least now when he is presiding. It is scandalous and disheartening for kids to hear such lurid and sordid stories. I really think that there is a contest among the neos as to who can come up with the most scandalous story! It is like a badge of honor. Hell, if I hear that a seminarian has taken advantage of lots of girls before he joined, I say, beware parents and keeps your daughters away. Under cover of a Roman collar, this same seminarian, now priest, can wreck havoc!!!!!!

    5. Fr. Tom dressed Ashton down? Uh, oh. He probably already cried to Papa.

    6. Also, Ashton, please do not wear a open collar shirt with rolled up sleeves to distribute communion and testify at the pulpit. Inappropriate. Well, guess no one told him.

  5. The Mass if Election for RCIA has always been done on Saturday vigil at CB or at another church. AAA wanted to parade theses people in front of the cameras to show the Vatican that he is converting people and bringing people back to the church to rec'd their sacraments.

    This is the first year it has been at 9:30 mass.....CB needs money....lets see if the collection was more this week.

  6. Was there also, and could have sworn he said " God is Crazy" for picking him to be in the seminary???? Thought discernment was done over a few years whether a person is called. Apparently this guy says that God called him during his hang over to join the seminary. I think that it was the wrong spirit that was talking to him...

    1. Good solid stuff from the traveling profs....God is Crazy. Deep theology. How many years till ordination? Don't forget Pius said five years and ready for China. With the name Wong he is a sure shot. Sober, that is.

  7. Maybe Purple is not AAA color the Archbishop should wear. Made him look ghostly white and ill. How can he survive all the problems he himself has created answering to such poor adivisors. One way or another, guessing he won't survive. Either retire, fire or crypt. Just too much. What a huge mess he leaves to his successor. Where to begin. And to think, successor's hands are tied as pertains to Yona Seminary Property. Hope he fixes that before too late. Also, pray he has chance to reconcile with priests he ordained. Let us pray.

  8. VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis urged members of Italian organized crime groups on Saturday to repent, saying the Catholic Church would welcome them if they promised to stop serving the cause of evil.

    Archbishop, make public repentance. We will take you back. If you stop the evil.

    1. Every time they tell us at mass to ask Blessed Diego for our requests I pray to Blessed Diego that our Catholic Church on Guam be healed, that the archbishop turn around and repent of the wrongs he has done and that Fr. Paul Gofigan and Msgr. Benavente be exonerated and reinstated. If only any of the saints could achieve these miracles!

  9. What a farce! The Mass of Election at the 9:30 Mass. Everything seemed kosher until my wife went to receive Communion. The Neo Prespyter, (I don't care if I spell it wrong! It means fake priest in my vocabulary!), made a grimacing face as my wife stuck her tongue out as is our practice in receiving Communion. The grimace was almost a look of disgust. I guess he isn't used to giving out the real body of Christ since his followers all take the "bread" in their hand and he dose not have to deal with regular Catholics. Then the end of Mass comes and the Archbishop says please sit down and the fake seminarian gets up. (At least he said please.) I knew then we were all set up. When the kid started talking I gave him one minute to speak, then I got up and left. Sorry Chuck I did not record. I was too pissed to stay. When you use the Holy Mass to continue your conniving ways, well that is just too much to bear. Rome are you listening? Rome are you there? I am writing to Archbishop Krebs, and Rome when I am done here. Just needed to vent! Thanks Tim.

    1. I just returned from the 7 p.m. Sunday mass at the cathedral. We had a seminarian named Ashton get up and give a "testimony" after the ending announcements. At least his "testimony" was not full of sordid details. He only mentioned being drunk once. It's troubling that he had not yet graduated from high school when he entered the NCW "seminary." The NCW are robbing the cradle. I thought in her wisdom the Church had decided years ago to discontinue this practice. I was startled and horrified when after the young seminarian's testimony many people in the congregation broke out in enthusiastic clapping. I realized later that most likely some NCW cult members were asked to attend the mass and to clap for him as a "witness" to the rest of us.

    2. The seminarian giving his testimony must have been quite confusing for the non-NCW RCIA candidates. I hope they aren't sucked into this cult as many of them are in a vulnerable time as they are just learning about and joining the Catholic Church.

  10. We were there to support one of the RCIA candidates. We walked out when whatever his name is started his thing. We are hearing they are coming to our parish soon, although we have learned that there will be two seminarians; one to talk about the Appeal, the other to talk about NCW. Looks like we will be leaving Mass early on that Sunday as well.

    2. Archbishop continual looking at his watch...maybe not thrilled with Ashton. But clapped anyway!! Thank you, Ashton. Can wait for next testimony. I'll be sending along to Archbishop Martin. Hope it doesn't ruin his day.

  11. He was looking to see if it made it on TV. He wasn't thrilled that the people that watch the mass would not be able to see someone from FD at RMS. This was a ploy to get people to give to the Appeal. Send out the locals. There are 44 seminarians, how many are local?

  12. i just caught an episode of a show on ewtn called "consuming the word" with scott hahn and mike aquilina, where they discuss the importance of the homily even in the early church. perhaps neocats should watch it and be corrected.

  13. Did anyone notice when certain individuals were receiving communion the Archbishop patted them on their head? I have seen many priests do this when little children accompany their parents but never adults. Is this the practice of the Neos?

    1. Perhaps they were those who have not received the sacraments of initiation. Or maybe that was Tim. A little pat on the head, atta boy, Tim. Keep up the good work.
