PDN asked to rate our confidence in the Arch Bishop but we are mistaken if we assume the position is to filled by popular vote. It was by popular vote that Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross; crucified. Let us also not forget that it is Jesus Christ who is the head; the leader of his Church that we should be following.
I have little confidence in any man but ask me if I have faith in Arch Bishop Apuron and I will tell you YES. We may not like or accept the message God sends through his servant the Arch Bishop Anthony Apuron but that is our problem.
  • I am so happy - yesterday
I am not part of the hate group...haters of Archbishop and NCW... all that negative emotions damage their hearts, souls, and bodies.. as for me.... I sleep well and know that God remains in me and has His hands on me... for I offer praises and blessings to HIM and pray for my enemies... I am at peace.
  • Virge - yesterday
tsk tsk tsk Becky Toves, so much hatred in your heart... May God forgive you... hating your brother and his family...
  • Frankie - yesterday
If your Church does not permit Communion on the tongue. How can this be a Catholic Church?
  • Amour Yen - yesterday
I believe the RMS are fake priests, they don't follow or teach the Catechism of the Catholic Church, they teach a strange new theology.
  • Vic - yesterday
It is such a sad day! I will be praying to The Lord Jesus to please save us from what is happening not only here but the whole world. May God Bless Us All! Such a small island but so much problems.
Dear God Please Forgive Us All!
  • WHY nAME - yesterday
This is totally out of line 5000 votes from 5000 people ??????
  • Jose Martinez - yesterday
Thank you for your persecution Gino.
In answer to your question about who chooses the Pope. The Holy Spirit working through the College of Cardinals. In other words, humans. There is no direct decision from God in the context that has been initially presented.
Popes, Archbishops and Priests, although they have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders and work in persona christi in consecrating the Eucharist and absolving sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, are prone to sin just as we are. Even the Pope goes to confession to receive absolution for his sins.
  • Shawn - yesterday
But I shall ask....what proof does anyone have that God has chosen any of this men to be leaders.....? And where in the Bible does it say that we have to have a priest or an archbishop?
  • Gino C. -Sinajana - yesterday
In regards to this comment is really dumb if your Catholic -
    Jose Martinez- 5 hours ago
God did not choose AAA, the Pope did. It is a fallacy to think that God chooses our leaders in such a direct method. If this is the teaching brought forward through the NCW, I charitably suggest you seek another source for your Catholic catechism.
Read Mathew 16:16-20 , so who pick the Pope????
  • Brain - yesterday
Its probably not unreasonable for 10-20% to be off island as that could be an indication of family and friends with some knowledge of the situation. Anything more would be quite troubling
  • Kenny - yesterday
What did you expect ? The Archbishop haters work for PDN and so Tim Rohr's two daughters work at PDN.
  • Tim ROHR&CHUCK WHITE CANCER - yesterday
Rohr and White are the root of the problem here not the Archbishop. Where is the obedience to the ordained authority? Why do they think that they know better? God has chosen him. Why do they feel that they are wiser than God? Isn't it God who chose him? But they think that they know better and that the Archbishop should step down. All this media attention is to make people doubt the Archbishop. Rohr and White have many followers and they say that NCW follow K.A.. I think that Concerned Catholics have their own followers. They seem to follow whatever Tim Rohr says. They have their own "cliques". If they want the Catholic Church to be united, they should be the example first and lead the way and show that they are united with the Archbishop. Why only focus on the NCW? There are many other Catholic organizations. Concerned Catholic are only concerned with their needs and not concerned about others. All I can say is that God will judge the living and the dead. This is what we profess every Sunday. He will judge our words and our actions. You cannot blame others for what you do when you are face to face with God.
But all you Concerned Catholics, if you think that Tim Rohr is so right, ordain Tim Rohr as your bishop and start your own church. Because you are obviously not happy with "your" Catholic Church.
Biba Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron! God has chosen you! Carrying the cross of Christ is not easy but He will help you!
  • NCW Tamuning - yesterday
PDN please publish the poll results ranked according to GEO-IP LOCATION.
Lets see how many regular on-island residents voted and not the crew summoned by Pius and Debbie to vote.
  • Maurizio - yesterday
Rohr is out for revenge cause he lost business on the sale of the property.
Becky Toves is delusional to actually check every IP address???? So if the Poll has mote vote for No confidence, you'll say the people has spoken and if in favor confident? The off island folks voted for it, Becky your a mad woman and down right crazy.
  • Beatrice Aguon Reyes - yesterday
We love Archbishop Anthony Apuron!!! Just to make something clear....the people many keep calling the "Neos"...are not aliens.....WE ARE CATHOLICS walking in the Neo-catechumenal way....this is my family trying to live in the image of Chirst and to receive the spirit to "love our enemies".
  • Larry Cruz - yesterday
Useless, meaningless poll. Unbelievable numbers. Way skewed to No Confidence and Totally Confident.
  • Louise S - yesterday
4,217 votes... Ridiculously high number of vote.
    Obviously computer generated.
Totally useless poll... It does not mean a thing.
  • John Brian U. - yesterday
What grounds do you have to assert that thee votes in favor of Archbishop are coming from off island?
One can claim that the votes against Archbishop are coming from off island!!
"The mark of the good loser is that he takes his anger out on himself and not on his victorious opponents or on his teammates."
  • NCW Tamuning - yesterday
Off-Islanders stay out of this poll and let this Bishop feel the sentiment of it's flock.
The NCW may have had good intentions in its infancy, in its core goals to bring those outside the Church closer, but it is obvious that its' followers fanaticism with it's leaders, K.A., down to the regional Catechists, and coupled with the lack of controls from the Vatican, this movement has turned into something very controversial.

  • Jackie Torres - yesterday
I FULLY agree with what WBSM just said : Who has ever heard of any reputable news portal putting up a confidence poll about a bishop of a diocese? The intention is so clear: a politically motivated media attack. What I would have lost my confidence in if there were any to begin with, is the staff responsible for this in PDN.
    PDN is faulty.
  • Ms. G - yesterday
Exerpt from Nicene Creed...."We believe in one holy Catholic and Apostolic church".....

  • brain - yesterday
Interesting that the responses are either "totally for" the Archbishop, or totally against.
Seeing as there is only one option for those who have lost confidence (ie "no confidence") it is no surprise that there is a big number on that.
But, one would have thought there would be a significant number on the middle ground ("somewhat confident" or "confident"). Nope.
Why would this be? Could it be that the "totally confident" are from a single group, not from the general Catholic population?
That would mean there are either foreign votes a plenty or multiple votes from this group.
  • Joe - yesterday
A poll is just a poll, so sad that it has cecum to this, which only show just how much hate there is on our island. All those signs of "I love my catholic church", Kotuliku, etc. This poll shows how much "HATE" there is. So sad.
  • John Tabunar - yesterday
This poll is obviously rigged. So it has no value.
  • Jeffrey San Agustin - yesterday
Some are assuming that all those who vote in favor of the Archbishop belong to the neocatechumenal way. There are many of us who do not belong to the Neocatechumenal Way and who love the Archbishop. He is such a great man. His dignified reaction in front of all these dishonest lies leveled at him is really admirable.
  • Brian Toves - yesterday
Remember that any truth has to pass through three stages: Opposition, Redicule, and SELF-EVIDENT...this is the Life of our Master and of any disciple that wants to follow Him..
As the Psalmist says: With Him on my side, I can climb any wall !!!
  • Brain - yesterday
Well, in fact the problem is that it is easy to cast multiple votes. I know how, and I think the Neos do too
  • Teresa Baza - yesterday
    1. The version found written on the wall in Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta:
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
-this version is credited to Mother Teresa
  • Becky T. Toves - yesterday
What a JOKE! Instead of having viewers truthfully vote their minds, I'm sure the NEO machine is in a frenzy cranking away at their contacts around the world to cast votes in favor of the archbishop. How do I know this? Your communities combined come nowhere near the 1, 154 votes cast thus far for those who are "totally confident." How desperate does that make all of you? Pathetic!! If you feel the need to prop up this man, what does that say about the man himself? PDN - When you close this poll, can you do a count of just how many votes were cast by ISPs outside Guam? That number will show how many misguided people have fallen into this trap.
  • Maria - yesterday
Neo teaching? Have you ever listened to the catechesis or just hear say? The Gospel, Vatican Council II, the Magesterium...are those not Catholic? How can one say the Way "is not Catholic". You may not like it, you may not want to join...but one Big lie I heard at the CCOG village meetings is "the NCW is NOT Catholic". (It's in the hand out they pass out.) We are in the Jubilee, we are in the Year of Mercy" it's not the Archbishop that needs to change but the hearts of men! Let us keep our eyes fixed on Christ and stop bashing and trashing.
  • Joseph A Santos - yesterday
Someone told me we should respect the "position". I respect the position not the man in it. Misled the people for so long as evidenced by the spin in this past Sunday's Umatuna. Those that cannot or will not see the spin call him a great man. They accuse us of aligning with "Rohric" yet they compromise their Catholic Faith by following a lay man's instruction on how to practice their so called faith. So who does AAA follow Rome or Kiko? Never mind I probably won't get an honest answer anyway!!
  • Rose - yesterday
In the "Catechism of the Catholic Church," page 249, it states - 862 "Just as the office which the Lord confided to Peter alone, as first of the apostles, destined to be transmitted to his successors, is a permanent one, so also endures the office, which the apostles received, of shepherding the Church, a charge destined to be exercised without interruption by the sacred order of bishops." Hence the Church teaches "that the bishops have by divine institution taken the place of the apostles as pastors of the Church, in such wise that whoever listens to them is listening to Christ and whoever despises them despises Christ and him who sent Christ."
  • Mariles Diaz Benavente - yesterday
The measure will not be on how much money ccog decided to withhold from the appeal. The real count will be on how many souls are saved. On another level, jungle watchers, how many disparaging attacks have you had to launch to elevate your worth?
  • Paul Crisostomo - yesterday
A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."
  • The second islander - yesterday
Thank you AAA for opening my eyes to your corrupt ways , you have made me pray for you more and for God to forgive your sins .
Asking for more in the amount of my donations every time the plate is passed is exhausting not only on my mind but on my wallet ,
How much is enough ? Please be specific with the amount you expect us to donate because you make me feel bad every time , like I'm not paying my dues to be member of my church. Just ask yourself , what would Jesus do ?
  • Amos - yesterday
The Neo grand scheme to spike this poll would be totally undone if the PDN publishes the percentage of votes by country. LOL.
  • Islander..... - yesterday
Thank You Archbishop for accepting this ENORMOUS gift that is passed on to me......
I struggle as a Catholic, but now with a different spirit... to accept the will of God especially the differences on this island i call home....May the Lord bless you and protect you through all the persecutions....
  • John - yesterday
The whole religion scheme is going to soon unfold, mark my word.
  • Marcia - yesterday
I am totally confident on God's will because He does not make any mistake. I learn over the years that when complaining and grumbling with things and people God place in my/ our lives, He sends a plague; health issue, family & financial problems, etc., just to humble me/ us or to change my/ our mentality as a help to NOT complain but simply be free from it and be grateful. To be grateful is to be HAPPY! Be mindful of the grumblings because at the rate of complains hopefully I pray the tide which has reached the shore and will probably destroy the fabric of life slowly, culture and tradition will also bring other plagues that would destroy family. Gambling/ poker and ice/ meth has torn many families all over the world especially Saipan. Be grateful Guam because you have Archbishop and pray that the CNMI will one day soon will have like Guam's a holy bishop.
  • James - yesterday
Do you international non-islander neos who are voting understand how dishonest your actions are? You don't know what is happening on our island, yet your conscious is failing you as you attempt to manipulate this poll.
  • Anya - yesterday
Tim Rohr did not divide the church. The church became divided the minute the NCW began it's teaching on Guam. It's AAA's poor leadership skills and his allowance of the NCW on the island that caused these problems. And unlike AAA, those that read Tim Rohr's blog are not blindly following Mr. Rohr. He's got facts to back his statements. AAA, along with Adrian and the rest of the so-called Catholics constantly contradict themselves. AAA is not a leader. He's a follower. I hope the Pope does something and removes him along with all the other NCW leaders from our island.
  • Bless And Protect Us Oh Lord - yesterday
Why do people say that those who are not obedient to AAA are following Satan? We can not be obedient to the evil that is around us. All this church politics and crap must stop. The Neo must be stopped and all theirs priest sent to where they are needed the most. Why does Guam need a movement or a New Way? Guam was well and peaceful prior to the arrival of this New Way. And AAA please hear your people, stop involving in foreign affairs. Come on, 30years the people of Guam made you rich and now your throw them aside. You need to step down and allow a smarter, more holier, and God loving individual to take your place. N

Let's note that at the time of this comment there were a total of 958 votes: 786 of no confidence.
We all expect the Neos to issue a summons to their communities to vote up the support of the archbishop, even though most will be off island. Lets see how they go.
  • Dan Aponik - yesterday
Do some research on the Archbishops Hotel and the Neo. After that you would probably agree - the Archbishop needs to stop aside. You cannot lead if your flock keeps leaving you.

last time I checked, it was Jesus Christ who is the head of the Catholic Church with Arch Bishop Apuron as his servant.
Are we saying that God in his infinite wisdom made a mistake?
If we cannot accept the reality that we are questioning Gods wisdom in his appointment of Arch Bishop Apuron then we should ask ourselves...do we really know God?
Are we obedient to the will of God?
  • Junie - yesterday
Archbishop Apuron needs to step up to the plate and be the shepherd he was meant to be for ALL of Guam's Catholics.
  • Bicentiko - yesterday
What a total travesty! TRUTH does not need to be defended, it needs to be PROCLAIMED, Archbishop. It is CLEAR that you have lost it (No Confidence by the laity) so stop complicating the damage to the island church and step aside...RESIGN NOW!
  • Debbie - yesterday
So sad that a chosen few rather choose to align themselves with Rohric cynicism. Be very careful those of you who throw those gi-normous stones . You might just hurt yourself ! So so sad!
  • Angel Flores Jn. - yesterday
I just read the PDN and the front page invitation to "rate the Archbishop"! Although I know who would be behind this, but how can a newspaper stoop so low as to do such a thing? The meaning of Devil (>Diabolos) would be "He who places division" and its derived meaning would be "slanderer"
  • Patsy T. Obenchain - yesterday
My prayers to stop this very sad "Divide" caused by this "NCW"!

Not only has the confidence been lost, his counsel works hard at keeping his credibility in the mud with the manipulations and lies they produce almost daily. Just read today's article with the quotes from Cristobal.

The overwhelming majority of people have lost confidence in this archbishop. Although he claims that Rome is satisfied with him, his flock is not. We are not only speaking out, but we are also SHOUTING our pleas for help. Something is terribly wrong with our archdiocese. Archbishop Apuron should follow the lead of Archbishop Nienstedt (Minnesota), who RESIGNED amidst the controversies involving sex abuse. AA should do what's right and just and step down. I pray for that to happen. And if it does, I hope that a non-Neo priest be designated as our next leader. We are tired of the lies, non-answers, evasiveness, cover-ups, favoritism, cruelty, and the deceitfulness of this man.
  • Deborah Naputi Wolford - 2 days ago
The only thing that I just don't understand about him was.. when he keeps getting into the law of the land.. and tries to make it a religion issue.. and if the people of Guam does follow and hears what am saying they will know what I mean... it is so DAMN sad that he's now hiding away from the public.. the Archbishop should always know that he's here for the catholic people that follows and believes the church.. So now can the Archbishop just tell the people of Guam the truth... I have never seen this type of craziness in our church, If only Archbishop Flores is still alive to me, he was the BEST Archbishop that I can remember, May God be with everyone in this time, and may the people of Guam Catholics be bless and keep believing cause GOD is real.. may the Archbishop come out and just be honest and be there for its people .... xoxox

  • JR San Agustin - 2 days ago
He can't exercise his leadership role because he has compromised his allegiance and fealty to the Church, and he won't because it conflicts with his own personal agenda/ambition. He has lost the confidence and respect of his own people.

A good shepherd ensures he finds his lost sheep. In this case, it's the flock that is searching for its lost shepherd. We want nothing but the truth in what laity has asked of Apuron.
  • Tim Rohr - 2 days ago
Either he is severely morally compromised or he is very ill. Either way he is destroying this church and this island...and has been for a very long time.
  • Peter Tedtaotao - 2 days ago
I've moved out of Guam 15 years ago, but I still read about what's happening back home. Guam will also be home, and hearing about our leader of the church is sad. If the Archbishop has nothing to hide, then why is he so adamant about being investigated? The people of Guam deserves the right to know the facts, and if the Archbishop didn't do anything? Then let those investigators do their job, and let them find out if it's true or not.

  1. If YOU NeoCatechumenals want to remain in your ways (YOUR MAN MADE WAYS), then let AAA support your purpose and you all live within your means. We the faithfuls follow the original ways of Jesus Christ, it's the old way, it was Jesus's way. And we will support our purpose to go on with our lives the way it has always been. Neo means "New", it's man made ways...So let it be divided if that's your choice, just leave us alone in Jesus way of leading us. No changes, NO man made changes. .May the Lord Jesus Christ, send the Holy Spirit to Archbishop Anthony Apuron to enlighten him and lead us the way You Lord lead us to this day. Amen...

  2. (I posted this comment regarding this poll on PDN's page, but it was after you had already posted this here. I just copied it. An additional point I wanted to make is that it is all too common for the Neos to attack the messenger rather than the message. That's a sign of small mind).

    Becky T. Toves - 19 hours ago
This comment is directed to whoever is "Virgie" and "Maurizio." (I received a phone call about your posts and felt compelled to respond even though your comments are small minded or maybe it's because your comments are small minded). You are probably in the NCW, and as such, I already view you as being brainwashed. If you're going to make a personal attack on me, have the courage to put your full name. But like many cowards, you hide behind the ambiguity of a name that may not be easily recognized by others outside the NCW communities. I certainly don't know who either of you are. As perfect strangers, you have no idea what goes on in my life, and what I believe is none of your concern - AT ALL. As for being a madwoman, thank you for the joke. If being able to articulate my thoughts well is your definition of a madwoman, perhaps it is you, rather than me, who needs to undergo a mental health screening. Virgie - I suspect you're getting information from those who choose to see things in their own WAY (pun intended), not what is the truth. Perhaps you're so antagonistic because I hit a nerve of truth? Perhaps several nerves? Yes, I ask God to forgive me of my sins. (BTW - Thank you for your prayers). We are all sinners, and as such, have to answer for those sins on judgment day. (You do, too, whether you want to believe it or not). However, fighting for our ONE HOLY, CATHOLIC, and APOSTOLIC Church is not a sin that I must be forgiven for. There are many atrocities being committed by our archbishop and his merry band of ruffians that must be STOPPED! As Catholics, we are mandated to speak out (and by the way, speaking out doesn't equate to hate). We are trying to protect our Church, our beloved priests, and our faith. More people are opening their eyes to what's been happening, and I encourage everyone to educate themselves (And that includes those in the Way - specifically Virgie and Maurizio. Don't believe everything you are told. There is A LOT of evidence that what you're told may be FAR from the TRUTH!) So Virigie and Maurizio, if you want to take this discussion further, contact me. I trust that you're intelligent enough to find out how to get a hold of me.
