AND SHE SHALL CRUSH THY HEAD

Posted by Tim

Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and also the occasion of my annual beef about how Scripture's most important verse has disappeared from our Catholic bibles and even today's Mass readings.

Enshrining the ancient belief that Mary was conceived without sin in her mother's womb into Dogma, Pope Pius IX declared:

“...so the most holy Virgin, united with him by a most intimate and indissoluble bond, was, with him and through him, eternally at enmity with the evil serpent, and most completely triumphed over him, and thus crushed his head with her immaculate foot.” - Pope Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus, December 8, 1854

  1. Today is also Fr. Paul Gofigan's birthday. If you see him at mass or in the procession today wish him Biba Kumpleanos :)

  2. Yes. Another example of our feel good faith to appease the crowds rather than a true teaching of scripture that requires faith to understand and follow.
Pope Benedict spoke about the problems of relativism and a watering down of the true beauty of what God has planned for mankind.
Thanks Tim for the catechesis and the reminder that our faith has a fullness that must not be denied.
BTW - I specifically use catechesis because it is a good word that has a bad connotation because of the NCW. Well, I am taking that word back to where it belongs. That is my MISSION. LOL!

  4. The problem of Relativism is one of the greatest downfall of modern man, and is the reasons for the writing of the document Dominus Iesus, by then Cardinal Ratizgner, Prefect for the CDF to expound on the divinity of Christ, and his Salvific work through his church in the modern world.
