NCW "INVITATION TO JOY" AT THE AGANA CATHEDRAL

Posted by Tim

This past Sunday at the Agana Cathedral there was another "Invitation to Joy" by the Neocatechumenal Way.

These "invitations" typically are testimonials given by lay persons followed by an invitation to attend a catechesis, and occur in place of or attached to the homily or immediatley before the dismissal and final blessing.

At this point, I am simply gathering information. Here is what has been reported so far. Please feel free to add what you saw in the comments if you went to Mass at the Cathedral this weekend.

  • The "Invitation" was given at each Mass except for one: the 9:30am Mass at which Archbishop Byrnes as the celebrant.
  • Members of the Agana Cathedral NCW communities sat together to the right of the altar (from the perspective of one facing the altar).
  • Most of the members of the NCW communities did not receive communion.
  • At one of the Masses, the "Invitation" was given during the time reserved for the homily with the other "Invitations" given immediately before the Dismissal.
  • Fr. Jucutan, at at least one of the Masses, sat with the NCW members as part of the congregation.

  1. I was at the 5:45am mass and I could see the neos gathering in the front right pews in front of the main podium. Shaun at one point got up and walked to the sacristy and came back out 5mins later. Then the mass started. Of course Jackie and her husband were running late but sat in the middle of all of them. The two RMS students (im assuming since they were obviously not local) sat all the way at the opposite of Shaun and his wife.

Thing is, they all brought their books (not sure if it was a bible or what), but it was safe to say there was a hidden agenda since they all sat together. What I don't understand is their public confessions. I don't go to mass to hear the personal dramas (mostly infidelity or sexual confessions, etc.). I go to mass to ask for forgiveness in all my faults daily and to hear the Lord speak to me through the gospel and through the homily. I personally celebrate and thank the Lord for his sacrifice in order to save myself and the entire world from original sin.

We are human and we tend to gossip and spread rumors. But gossip leads to assumptions. I avoid all that drama because once it starts, the next question normally would be "what made them drive that direction".

To me, these neos have lost their way to God and now have to find for THEMSELVES their way back. The neos have to work even harder then one who is at peace and have accepted their faith but TRUST in the Lord daily. There is just something so wrong with these neos and they are still well established inside of the Catholic Church.

Why ruin a perfectly sacred mass with a recruitment invitation to their community? I think this just distracts what was celebrated in the mass.

    1. When a team of catechists starts a new catechization, Kiko teaches it is all the community who evangelizes. That is why all neo members where there while their brothers and sisters of the catechist team give their testimony announcing the new catechization time. Their books mustbe their Hours Prayers book, for sure they were praying Lauds or Visperas toghether before the mass. They belive all of them are evangelizing as a entire body.
Ask your bishop in black and white, I think he should receive hundreds of letters asking for explanations, but in black and white. He should read hundred of petitions with all the good reasons you tell in these comments in Jungle. Make him give public and official explanations!
Maybe you could stay during each catechesis day in the same place they evangelize telling the assistants before entering what is actually the cultic NCW!

  2. Not sure of its time/day of arrival. On Sunday around 6:45 pm there was a HUGE invitation to joy sign. I nearly drove off the road in disbelief as I twisted my head while double taking what I just saw. All I could say was noooooooooo

  4. So these Kiko attended the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Did not receive Holy Communion, but rather used the opportunity to extend their invitation to join their cult, and they were given permission to deliver their invite at a time reserved for the homily given by the presider? How do these Kiko's get away with this? If the Priest or Bishop does not have the authority to alter the Rubrics of the Liturgy, How does this adulteration happen? Fr. Paul? AB Byrnes?

  5. Who authorized/allowed all these Neo activities at the Cathedral? Fr. Paul?

  7. These public confessions/recruitment tactics is so uncarholic and ahouldnt be done in a mass. Otherwise, we should open the mass up to every other religion who wants to recruit people for their beliefs. What an embarrassment is all I can say.

    1. I noticed at the 7:30am Mass with Father Tom that when the Neo heretic walked up to speak, the young altar servers, maybe 6-8 left the altar and remained in the sacristy until the speaker was done. They returned for the final blessing and to process out of the church with Fr. Tom. I guess these young people are also aware of the neo poison and made a conscious effort to keep clear! Bravo!

  10. You're allowing the heathen Neocats to bully you. You can get rid of them. We did it with local Charismatics long ago.

Neocats are around here too, but they don't belong to any of the mainstream parishes. People here are aware of the greedy cult's heretical beliefs and practices, so the group is deliberately avoided.

There was a very large, highly blasphemous Charismatic community in my diocese back in tbe day. I'll spare you the details of their obscene conduct. We put pressure on Pastors who pandered to them and got them booted from parishes with no help from the worthless bishop. He knew everything about the liturgical atrocities they committed, but did nothing to stop them.

Nothing was put into collection baskets or diocesan appeals until the wild holy roller liturgies, half-naked liturgical dancing and near tent-style revival meetings were stopped. Parish social services and charities were funded directly. Volunteer services at churches and Rectories tapered down to literally nothing.

We got things to the point where Charismatics could no longer hold their insane liturgies in local Catholic churches. They were staged at hotels and done by unknown priests who left town as soon as the circuses ended.

There aren't many Charismatics left in this diocese now. Isolated prayer groups still exist here, but they're mainly in small Hispanic and Filipino parishes. They're not sociable people and they keep to themselves. Nearly all of them are foreign-born seniors, so the insane behavior that set us off years ago is history. The only public liturgies they do now are occasional church-based Healing Masses, minus the pentecostal hysteria.

    1. Thankfully, the anti-Marian Charismatic prayer group at our church was disbanded years ago due to pressure put on the Pastor to get rid of the heretics. They were truly pentecostal holy rollers, hollering in tongues and falling out babbling on the floor. Personal testimonies like the Neocats make were a big part of their insane weekly meetings.

The large prayer group which nearly filled the parish hall at one time dwindled down to a few insular people who met at the parish hall kitchen table. They finally gave up and left. The prayer group never engaged with the church. They only used the parish hall.

The original prayer group was co-hosted with a Catholic-hating Assemblies of God preacher who milked the Charismatics out of a ton of money. The idiots even bought the AOG preacher a brand new car!

They were so evil that when a world-famous Catholic priest-biblical scholar visited the parish and offered the prayer group a Bible study class, they rudely refused, saying they recognized Charismatic priests only. Sacramental Baptism was not recognized either. Only their crazy Baptism in the Spirit. In many ways, they were very similar to the Neocats. You have my prayers and sympathy.

  11. Publish a brochure to hand out to parishioners when the NCW are running their cult recruitment sessions that informs our unsuspecting brothers and sisters about this cult. I’m sure such an information brochure would be useful not only in Guam but everywhere.

    1. Great idea!...While the NEOs are doing their "thing" up at the pulpit, we can be where the true Parishioners are in the pews. Passing out the flyers while the NEOs are talking is not a bad idea. Heaven forbid they try this at our Parish. I am sure we would start the SENDING FORTH him while they are talking. NO opportunities for the NEOs to do this crap at our Northern Parish.

    2. Maybe a good idea, but who is going to initiate creating this brochure. Good ideas don't go far without any action......

      Delete
    3. Include the URL's for all of the reliable anti-Neocat blogs and websites in the brochures. Maybe the Sunday Cathedral picketers will hand them out too. It would certainly strengthen their case.

Also post huge Internet exposes on the Neocats like ex-Scientologists do against Scientology. Do major production numbers on them. Documented stuff Byrnes can't ignore. They asked for it and they have it coming.

    4. 1:44 PM Producing brochures is no big deal. They're easily designed with templates found on current computers. The anti-Neocat people already have loads of data. Any copy shop can print the brochures in bulk.

  13. Since the Neos are allowed to advertise their products during Mass to a captive audience, I also would like to advertise my used cars for sale during Mass. How much did it cost the Neos for the advertising time? Maybe they got a good deal because they're advertising at almost every Mass!

  17. As I read this passage over and over again the more I felt ugly inside me because it is the word of The Lord's. It didn't come from Kiko-the Pope-Arch. Apuron-Arch. Hon-nor is it coming from Arch. Byrnes. Catholic people fighting. To me, today the Catholic Church is turning out to be a one big lie. We should all fall on our knees and give praise to Jesus instead, and I do. So sad. To ignore Jesus in Holy Communion it's ok but remember, HE ALREADY KNEW THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. Discipline in our Church has fallen apart.

“Beware of the leaven of the pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
And I say to you: My friends do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
But I will show you whom you should fear; fear Him, who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell. Yes, I say to you, fear Him!” Luke 12:1-5
There is probably no more detested vice than that of hypocrisy.
    And yet it is pervasive.
Hypocrisy involves the deception of others.
    Hypocrisy is living a lie.
Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities or standards that one does not actually have...

  21. WTH is happening in our archdiocese, AB Byrnes, Fr. Jeff and Fr. Paul? Who is in charge here? Filloni-Baloney? The Neo communities are running amok again, just like before, emboldened by your inactions, missteps and perceived weaknesses. Dang, I almost wish Hon was back again trying to clean up this stinking mess. We tried to give you three the benefit of the doubt and some time to gird your loins, inform yourselves with the truth and listen to the people. We finally saw some improvement right before Hon left but it seems we have some setbacks since you three have taken over, especially here at the ACB. Continue "cleaning house" as you did up at the chancery. The ACB is still crawling with power-hungry, attention-grabbing, thumb-nosing, heretic, little neos. I think you all should get with the program (soon) or move aside and let some real leaders in the laity show you how to do it. Close down that seminary, for goodness sakes. You're going to need to sell it anyway to pay for all those lawsuits coming your way. And yes, AB Byrnes, meet with your parish priests and lay organizations. Listen with an open mind, heart and soul and you will see the TRUTH.

  24. I watched the Sunday broadcast of the 9:30 am mass. I now wish there was a full "invitation to joy" for Abp Byrnes to witness. He needs to experience the nauseating spectacle that is this practice. There is no better proof than first-hand experience.

Did anyone record any of the invitations? Are there any old recordings? Abp Bynes needs to hear them.

  25. The Cathedral Rector is obviously incompetent and he should be removed.

Don't tolerate his pandering to heretics. Neocat dog and pony shows should be expressly forbidden during Mass. They are an overt violation of canon law and an intentional disruption of authorized liturgies. These freaks can't be suppressed, but they can be forbidden from displaying their schismatic craziness on archdiocesan property.

Notify Byrnes of what took place at the Cathedral. In writing and in detail. Give him only one chance to end the appalling situation immediately. One complaint of this type is all a reliable bishop needs. If Byrnes doesn't respond as requested, don't put a cent into collection baskets at any Catholic church on Guam until the Neocats' blasphemy is decisively stopped. Until such time, fund your parish social services directly, not through Pastors or the chancery. As practicing Catholics, you have rights. Don't squander them!

It might be a good idea to video all of the Neocats' liturgical abuses with a high resolution smartphone camera and post the advertised videos on a dedicated YouTube channel. It's free and it would increase the credibility of your plight.

  26. From the other blog:

"I had to laugh when I was reading the jungle. Tim Rohr and the entire jungle are in an uproar over a little "invitation to joy" announcement. This is something that we have been doing every year."

Yes you have been doing this every year when Apuron was in charge. We are outraged that this aberrant practice continues under a new administration.

Would you let some come into your NCW celebrations and present an "Invitation to Truth" speech? How about an "Invitation to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church"?

  29. I attended the 6:00 p.m. mass on Saturday evening (Feb. 4) at the Cathedral-Basilica. The NEOcats were there -- front row seats -- and before the concluding rites and blessing & dismissal, a Ms. Wong approached the pulpit and delivered her Invitation to Joy spiel. Among those also attending and seated in the front row seats were M/M Shawn Leon Guerrero, M/M Jacky Terlaje, Fr. Mike, and others from their community (I suppose). Their multiple offspring were in attendance and seated in the second row, along with Ms. Wong. I don't know whether they all partook in communion, as I was not paying attention to their movements, but I recall seeing some of them returning to their seats at communion time. By the way Fr. Tom looked uncomfortable and ill at-ease as he sat, along with the others in attendance, waiting for the end of the testimony. After mass, several of their members stood at the exit doors and passed out cards/invitation to joy. Don't ask me what Ms. Wong said--I tuned her out completely and prayed quietly in my pew. Dear Lord ... deliver us from evil...AMEN!
