Interesting conference. However, it will take time to evaluate sincerity of this. Trust must not simply be given until there are real signs of change. To promise one million to a fund is not enough to build trust. Sell San Ramon hill property for development that will be a start to the Sincerity of the Archdiocese of Agana and its intended wish to heal victims. Otherwise it is simply cheap talk with no meaning.
I found it poorly presented a rather shallow attempt to keep victims quiet. Victims best to go to David Lujan for healing.

  2. PDN just published that the archdiocese is hurting badly. When will the church start acknowledging that the NCW has caused all this and they need to "DRAIN THE SWAMP" and hold all those responsible for hiding these pedophiles.

While not indicting the NCW for the original sexual abuse scandal in Guam (it had been here before they came in the 1990’s), it certainly has a super-major role in endorsing, hiding, and perpetuating it. Had Apuron not found his niche to hide his pre-1990’s shenanigans, to seek and find shelter and protection in the NCW, perhaps most of this could have been ameliorated much earlier.

But witness the turning the other way that the NCW offered Apuron and his cronies. “Just let us in into your archdiocese and let us proliferate the NCW, and we will protect you from all your sexual abuse enemies – we have the strongest of support in Rome, especially through the patronage of our “Red Pope” Cardinal Filoni), who can easily twist Francis’ hands, the Roman Curia’s hands, the Canonical Tribunal’s hands. We can hide you, we can shelter you, we can support you – and your cronies like Fr Edivaldo, Fr Luis Camacho, Fr Madeson, and anyone else of your ilk.” That’s the strength, and the evil of the NCW. And until Archbishop Byrnes gathers up enough guts to stand up against Cardinal Filoni and his NCW, the healing process of the archdiocese will continue to be an ethereal dream! So wake up, Archbishop Byrnes. You say you don’t take sides! You just did by your concession to the Neos to receive Communion simultaneously – in violation of the GIRM. A lot of people are looking up to you to be the redeemer who is to come, but you are turning out to be just another hireling. Wake up, and smell the coffee! To yourself, be true. Archbishop; to Filoni “screw him!” – instead of us!

    3. Agreed. Byrnes is weaker than water...and a NCW stooge!

    4. What and who Byrnes is remains to be seen. And I"m willing to give him time. It is highly probably that he had no idea what he was getting into and was absolutely misled and manipulated by the Filoni-Gennarini cabal. One thing for sure is that money talks. And the dire situation of the archdiocese is something that Filoni and Gennarini can't help Byrnes with and, at least per this press conference, he is turning to people who can really help, specifically Richard Untalan, Art Ilagan, and Joe Rivera. If these three men had any inkling that Byrnes was still a Filoni stooge, they would not be bothering. So I see hope. The big test will be how he backs up Fr. Paul's directive to the neocats. We shall see.

    5. Speaking of Fr. Paul's "directive" to the neocats. When and how will that be enforced, with or without the backing of Byrnes, and how will we know it? Or is that like Obama's drawing a line in the sand to the Syrian leader?

  3. To Blockley the blowhard. Instead of preaching from your perch in Manila, come to Guam and make yourself useful.

    Thank you 5:55PM.
I come to this blog to offer constructive thoughts and solutions to our discussion.
I would like to think my comments contribute to the re building renewal of the Church.
This is a simple way for me to make myself useful to the situation. If I was in Guam please be assured I would be joining protests in a people power movement carrying a banner with the face of Camacho.

  5. The amount of money offered to these victims is a slap in the face. Ten year olds getting raped, crying, asking to stop while the priest tells him to keep it a secret .... wAnd all they are compensated is mere change. While the accomplices sit in their $75 million castle in Yona splashing in the pool laughing! Come on Byrnes!?! Really!?! Lujan!!! Milk em!!!!
