YES, VIRGINIA, CATHOLICS DO PRAY TO MARY

And when we do, here's what we say (and why we say it):

And, by the way, there is good theological reasoning for calling an end of game desperation pass a "Hail Mary"and not an "Our Father."

  1. Tim,

Thank you for this explanation .... I can now answer my sister who was born a catholic and became a Christian because she had issues with the church! I always knew our catholic prayers were based on scripture but I.didnt know how to explain it, now I do.

She would always ask me why we pray to Mary and that Mary was only a vessel and nothing more. Well...let's see ...how many of their Christian prayers are based on scripture???...I'm guessing none...

  2. Just to clarify, all Catholics are Christian but not all Christians are Catholic. A more precise name is that she became Protestant.
