THE "NEO AD" AND SOMETHING MUCH MORE ALARMING!

Here is an eye witness account of the "Neo Ad" which occurred on Sunday, February 9, at the 7:30am Mass at the Cathedral Basilica. The celebrant was Fr. Tom McGrath, S. J. (who by the way is in no way responsible for it.) Archbishop Apuron was in attendance seated in the congregation with members of the Neocatechumenal Way.

• Fr. Tom gave his homily and started the Nicene Creed.

• A lady began to walk up; so Fr. Tom stopped and apologized, saying something  like "Please excuse me. I'm sorry. I was told something would be said after the homily but I totally forgot."

• The lady walked up to the microphone — and said that 15 years ago she was invited, just like she was inviting them, by a couple who came to Guam from New Jersey.

• She said that she was a cradle Catholic and for 30 years she had "this" (meaning the Mass). She never understood what it was like to be a "REAL Christian." But 15 years ago she got the invitation that changed her life.

• At the time she and her husband were having problems and she went, hoping the Way would "fix her husband".

• She said that the Way did as she hoped and that all God wants from us is our sins.

• The talk lasted 10 minutes

At the end of Mass, the people sitting next to the Archbishop "stood up and went to guard the doors"; they handed out "invitations" to everyone as they left.

But perhaps more alarming than the obvious violation of inserting a personal testimony into a Mass (more on that later), is the presence of the archbishop in the congregation acting as just one of the congregants.

Redemptionis Sacramentum addresses this:

[128.] Holy Mass and other liturgical celebrations, which are acts of Christ and of the people of God hierarchically constituted, are ordered in such a way that the sacred ministers and the lay faithful manifestly take part in them each according to his own condition. It is preferable therefore that “Priests who are present at a Eucharistic Celebration, unless excused for a good reason, should as a rule exercise the office proper to their Order and thus take part as concelebrants, wearing the sacred vestments. Otherwise, they wear their proper choir dress or a surplice over a cassock.” It is not fitting, except in rare and exceptional cases and with reasonable cause, for them to participate at Mass, as regards to externals, in the manner of the lay faithful.

If this is the case for priests, how much more so for bishops!!

  1. I witnessed the "catechist" at the 9:30AM Mass. She is from Puerto Rico and has been in the Way for a while now. She said, "I used to be in deep sin, just like you." Excuse me? How does she know the severity of my sins? She pleaded with the Lord to look at her and help her. And he did - in Europe- with the NCW. So, are our contributions to the Catholic Charities Appeal, as well as the monthly parish assessments, funding people like this woman from Puerto Rico? This woman who had the audacity to pass judgment on all people who are not members of the NCW? I found her insulting. Thank goodness I only viewed it livestream, as I was interested to see if the Archbishop would really go ahead (again) with his liturgical abuse. Sorry Miss Puerto Rico - I acknowledge I am a sinner, but you have NO RIGHT and NO PLACE to pass judgment on anyone.
And as for the woman who needed to "fix her husband"...all I can do is laugh. I wonder if her husband felt the same way about her.

    1. I notice the mass is not yet posted on the website, but I know this PR lady, and she has been in the Way for more than 20 years. Kiko says it is about getting those who have fallen away from the Church , to re-form them, and then re-integrate back into the Parish community.

Our friend Mrs Santos, like most other things in the Way, proves that they will tell you anything they think you want to hear, but boldly do just the opposite. Kiko tells Rome what they want to hear, but does whatever he wants to do. I think our new Holy Father will start to re-examine this group, hopefully before they do too much more damage to those "in the Way" and those left "out of the Way".

    2. Adrian C - Maina: It’s Monday afternoon and the video has not yet been posted. I can’t help wondering if the video recording of this particular Mass will "disappear" from the video archives the same way the KOLG episode from January 2006 "disappeared" from the audio archives.

Luckily Tim had access to a copy of the KOLG incident and has shared it here on JW. That gave us the chance to hear the Archbishop’s words and tone as he "dissed" Cardinal Arinze. I'm guessing the Archbishop does not want the rest of us to witness the liturgical abuse at the 9:30 Mass at which he presided, so we may never see it.

  3. Thamks to archbishop Apuron the church on Guam has been reduced to a joke. No one takes the leadership seriously anymore. Impossible now for archbishop Apuron or his San Ramon group, ever to keep order in this local church because they are a joke to the community. This is the sad thing, they lost respect, became a joke, and now unable to lead us.

  4. Mr. Tim Rohr: you are in your own little world. You have lived on a small island too long and forgot the Universal Church. Look who attended the Audience in Rome with Pope Francis. Do you think you are better than this company of Church leaders? Gathered in the Paul VI Audience Hall were young people, priests, seminarians, itinerant catechists and families. Also present were 50 bishops and 11 cardinals, among them Cardinal Agostino Vallini, the Cardinal Vicar of Rome, Cardinal Antonio Canizares Llovera, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, Archbishop of Krakow and former secretary to Blessed Pope John Paul II.

READ: Prefect of Divine Worship...so what is your problem now? Drop it. Please. It is getting tedious.

    2. What happens when Tim goes away and this blog is erased but your problems still exist? Who else is going to be the distraction in order for you continue to brazenly scoff at any and all criticism and correction?
As stated before, Rome is not going to initially kick out the Neo or ban them outright. This is about saving souls through the Church created by Jesus Christ. Taking people away from Sunday liturgy is troubling. Even under the guise of salvation, when you remove the sanctifying elements of the one true Church, you have also removed yourself.

  5. @10:38am - how dare you insult not only Tim Rohr, for living "on a small island too long" and forgetting the Universal Church! You have just insulted the people of Guam! I have lived on this beautiful island all my life - this island I call HOME! I love the Church and for you foreigners to come in and try to brainwash our people into the Cult of Kiko is WRONG! Go back to where you came from! Tim Rohr obviously knows more than you do. And who cares about the brainwashed bishops and cardinals that were part of the audience? I am more concerned with what Pope Francis had to say. That's what your concern should be as well. If you think the issue with the NCW is getting tedious, it's because the truth hurts and you don't want to hear the truth. All the injustice caused because this Archbishop cannot get it together and shepherd God's people the way he should! The only problem we have is that you people cannot produce the document Tim is asking for, and you continue to justify your sin of disobedience to Rome and our beloved Holy Father! So sick of your self-righteousness!

    1. Excuse me, but I have a Green Card and may live here the same as you. The Pope sent me here. It is the call of God through the Pope we sacrifice so much to join you to the New Evangelization what the Church ask for all of us. You like the child who cry so hard before immuniztion shots to protect you from the evils of the secular world which will make you sicken and die. There are so many Neocatechumenal Way Presbyters in Rome. The Pope is the Bishop of Rome! You will not win this confrontation on the blogspot of Mr. Rohr. The true Spirit is much stronger. Look at the Fruits! Look at the Fruits. Don't be blind, but see. Yes, the island is beautiful. I respect your home. Open your harden heart.

What is wrong with this picture? You got a green card for the purpose of coming to Guam to evangelize the natives??? Is this even legal? Seriously??

    7. @12:35 pm: No, you do not respect our home. From your comment to Tim it is clear that you think that Guam is a place that fosters small minded, backward thinking. Perhaps you experienced this in the archbishop and so thought that Guam would be ripe for the picking. Sorry, friend. It's not going to happen. We are not dumb and we are prepared to fight to defend our faith.

I don't think Tim needs a myspace account because he seems to be doing quite well with this blog.

    2. Is this Ben? I recognize that blah, blah, blah from all your other rants. Your hate fire is being fueled and you can't resist the call of the jungle. Not one of you in the Neo ever addressed the document in question but in vain attack the truth that Mr. Rohr has brought to light. You're arguments hold no water but expose all the holes in your theology so keep commenting for readers like me to learn the truth about Neo on Guam.

  7. That was Mass arch not a NCW meeting where Fr. Pius drones on and on and on. There there is no Mass just a hoard of Neos listening to Fr. Pius for hours.

  9. The 7:00 p.m. Mass at Cathedral had a lovely homily by Fr. Jeff and then up comes the head responsible for the Cathedral talking about rape, suicide and wanting to kill himself. Coming from a nice homily to a onset of horrible stories just wasn't nice. I had to step out because it was just not appropriate for the Mass. I didn't hear much "Good News" from him at all.

  10. He can't help it. That's the drill. Who is the head responsible?

  11. Wake up Catholics. Your sermons consist of jokes and rehashing of the gospels. Your priests/presbyters seem to want to please the audience not challenge and strengthen them. Christ was crucified for preaching the truth. Archbishop and priests need to preach the truth not just love, love, and mercy. Remember He is all merciful and all just.
