LOCAL TEEN DENIED SPONSORSHIP TO OFF-ISLAND SEMINARY

VIDEO: Local Teen Denied Sponsorship to Off-Island Seminary, Archdiocese's Reasons Unclear

The story mentions both the "we can't afford it" reason the chancery gave Aaron and the "we have the resources" story it gave us. I'd say "we don't know who to believe", but then that would be a (another) lie, wouldn't it?

  1. I watched this on the news before I left for Mass. I already knew the story from the blog, but for some reason as I watched it on the news, I cried. It was as though I heard it for the first time in utter disbelief and having a face to the story made it even worse.

I prayed for Aaron tonight. I also prayed for you Tim and all the good Catholics who are putting themselves out there. God Bless you all.

    1. Thanks. I didn't know the camera was rolling or I would have combed my hair :) Hope Aaron doesn't mind me calling him a "kid", but when you're as old as me... :)

  2. Shocking story in all honesty our family can no longer contribute to the archbishops appeal this lent. Aaron we are with yu in prayer and suggest you seek a bishop on the mainland who will help you.

    1. 12:52AM- Has anyone considered this: these happenings were never unintended, coincidental bungles and therefore appear to us to be ha ha "jokes." These are serious moves we have to be wary about. From the onset we believe, this was a strategy in their plan to gain neo control of our authentic Catholic Church on Guam and squash out of existence any trace of authentic traditional Catholicism, in place of kiko's reign thru NCW. Yes, they're encountering some failures and that's because deceit, like crime, isn't always successful.
Kiko's sees his failures in other countries or dioceses but here, they stumble onto a treasure of an island where they have an archbishop puppet.willing to be pulled by the nose to do whatever, in however manner and in spite the risks. Most neo recruits have a sob story that led them to neo salvation; what was archbishop's story that the neo provided salvation from? and is that why... or are there false and misleading promises to the archbishop by kiko of advancement (to a Cardinal's position, maybe?). No, you're right these neo doings should not be taken lightly, any longer.

  4. Tim, what can readers do to help Aaron. We can send him money no problem, but money not the concern here. This is more concerned with the archbishops personal problems of which Aaron is just a victim.

  5. If archbishop refuses to send a seminarian to St. Patrick's,but still insists on collecting money to support rms guam, which is a substandard seminary, then surely we are correct to remove financial support from the archbishop. Why should Guam, or any diocese for that matter, have second class priests.

  6. We're glad you took that opportunity to go to the media to air this deception, Tim. Thank you! That publicity should reach so many more would-have-been-potential contributors about this farce of an appeal.

There should be an organized effort to inform more Catholics and suggest ways that they can divert their contribution from this appeal to supporting other legitimate and valid Catholic programs, services, needs etc.

  7. That our archbishop finds it very easy to mislead and misrepresent to his congregation about the truth that money from this AA appeal will predominantly go towards supporting and sustaining the neo ways rather than furthering and supporting The Catholic Church and its needs on Guam is unconscionable, unethical and down right immoral!

  8. You talk about chasing these foreign Seminarians back to where they came from because you don't like the Neos and don't give to the AAA but only for Aaron. How rude are some of the people here in this Blog. You chase people after they make this place there homes? minus well we chase Timmy back to Cali where he came from or some place that he came from. Stateside. We are the real people of Guam. Born and raise!

    1. Thank you for once again witnessing the true fruit of the neocatechumenal way.

But beyond that. The truth is these seminarians were not brought here for Guam, but for Kiko. These priests are supposed to be "missionaries". That means they are not for here...unless you still consider Guam to be a "mission". That would be quite an insult to all the people who are "born and raise!" But then in your church, mission may have a completely different meaning.

  9. Guam is open to anyone to make their home here providing they respect our laws, our life, and our culture, and our people. The problem with neo is they do not respect our culture and people. They seem to only want our money and our land. We as a people must defend our culture. Mr. Rohr has always defended culture and our local church so we defend him for this blog.

    1. Tim, is not a defender of our culture or our church. He bashes the church, he doesn't even know the history of Guam and he's not even from here. Does he speak the Chamorro language? Does he even go to a Novus Ordo mass? Why did Tim leave agat? He stays there and he is under the jurisdiction of the pastor of agat. So those who defend Tim goes against the Archbishop for some reasons but to publicly go to the media and then have someone on Facebook make an account under the title of Guam Catholics Cry? Make that person know then! But on the other hand we have commenters posting things like I have no respect for the Archbishop and his authority. And then posting "tony, Adrian and David". No respect? Those who say those things disrespect the church and the position of who gave them the authority. Sadness for people who say they're from Guam but has no respect for our church and then bash the archdiocese. When you bash the archbishop, you bash the Church! I know most on this blog hates the Neos and people who go against Tim. But who do you follow? Tim (a lay) or the priests and bishops (ordained). You talk about Kiko separating the church, but if the way of life they live bring those who gone astray back to the church, then why do we continue to hurt our other brothers and sisters in Christ? Also, if this blog causes you stress or drama or temptation, then we should stay away but if you prefer to stay then that's up to you...
May God continue to heal this archdiocese and all those who persecute the Church and the authority given to the people on the hill.
Also, Tim, I'm still wondering how are you getting all these "internal" facts and make it public? Like with the email between Aaron and Fr. Adrian? Was it by the Monsignor? I know we all can't keep secrets but most of the facts you presented from things like the retreat and other stuffs. I think a priest or Monsignor gave these info out to you!

    2. Really, Ivan. Just give me a call.

    4. Oh Ivan I was in Manila when I got a call about Father Paul asking me if I had heard the news. Then a member of the community commented on they key while we were in Manila.

Further more, I was also in Manila during the last leg of their retreat. Being a balakbayan, when the issue is discussed in our native tongue, I understand.

I as a lay person, know more of what is happening within the circle of the Church than the priests themselves.

So don't presume or assume to know where the leak comes from. Remember your best friend can be your worst enemy! If I were you, keep your thoughts to yourself. There may be a rat in every community, you never know!

    5. Anon 3:08... Isn't Kiko a Layman himself? And yes you are right, Tim is defending the church and still is because of disobedient leaders, the Archbishop, who is following Kiko Argüello instead.

  10. It is truer these seminarians have no love for Guam and our people. They just have to be here because kiko sent them and it is an easy road to ordination so they increase in numbers. But in reality they are just playing games. Infact one seminarian told us he joined rms because it's easy seminary to get through. After ordination he will leave and go back to his country and join his own home diocese. He just wanted to travel. So archbishop has created a seminary where any guy can enter and get ordained. No selection , your just sent to rms and will be ordained.

  11. Let's all remember not to contribute to the archbishops appeal this Sunday. Please do not be fooled by special collections being taken in some parishes which is for the archbishop. Do not give it is the only way to make our voice heard. Stop the money.

  13. I read the centerfold of the Umatuna, and I caught something which you probably mentioned in another post. I wish the PNC reporter had mentioned it. (Q & A)
    6. What is the estimated expense for each seminary?
"The Archdiocese provides approximately 10% financial support to RMS and 100% to [St.] John Paul II Archdiocesan Seminary of Guam. The RMS makes up the remaining 90% through contributions, donations, and fundraising. The Archdiocesan support of 10% to the RMS's 2014 budget is approximately $98,000. The budget for the recently established St. John Paul II Archdiocesan Seminary is estimated at $65,829. The estimated cost for a seminarian studying off island is approximately $55,000 per year. In FY 2013, it was $35,730 with scholarship assistance."
OK..I'm not a math major, but the Archbishop is asking for @$66,000 to take care of ONE seminarian who sleeps at the "John Paul II Seminary"? And yet, the cost for Aaron to attend Mount Angel could be @$35,000? Actually, Mount Angel doesn't even charge $30,000 for one year's tuition. So, did I understand this correctly? Who the heck are those people on the hill trying to fool?
What an outright lie to the people of Guam!

    1. Yes, the lie was already exposed in the email conversation between Fr. Adrian and Aaron. Money was not the real factor as Adrian volunteered to pay his own way and was still denied sponsorship. For those who don't know, Aaron cannot study for the priesthood without a bishop or a religious superior to sponsor him. Because Aaron wants to be a diocesan priest for this diocese, the Archbishop must sponsor him. He will not. The reason given was that the archdiocese doesn't have the money. As you point out, the archdiocese admits in the Umatuna that they do have the money. But once Aaron volunteered to pay his own way, money was no longer the issue. Not subjecting himself to the neocatechumenal way WAS the issue. And so he is denied.

  14. Does Tim speak the language, does he know the culture, why is he on Guam? this are some of the questions asked in one of the comments, and I have questions to ask in return, but first, I am from Chalan Pago,, was baptized sometime in 1938-1939, , in my early twenties I stopped going to the Catholic Church and started looking for one that would give me the satisfaction I was seeking, in my early thirties, I came back to the Catholic church, I got married (42 yrs) to a sweet young lady and have raised four children. have been a CCD teacher for over 14 years. I have met many priests who were not from Guam, most of them do not speak the language, did not know the culture, like the majority of the Priests from the Yona Seminary. So why thinki that because Tim is from outside and does not speak the language or totally understand the culture have no respect for our people and the local Catholic Church. I, too, question the abilities of the NCW priests and the plans of the Archbishop. I, too, question the NCW way of celebrating th3e Eucharist. I even went to the bishop and asked him to stop the neos from establishing itself in my parish, this fell on deaf ears.
I also question the AAA as to why must I support the Yona mansion, espeially when I know that this men will be sent some places too establish the KIKO church and not the church that Jesus Christ established on Earth. Please excuse the grammar and spellings, diction and terminology, never did graduate from high school.

    1. Be careful when reading the above. It appears at first to be an attack on me when in fact it is a defense. What the commenter is saying is that while some are attacking me because I am a foreigner and because of that have no right to question the archbishop, he is a local and has the same questions I have. Thank you. But of course the fact that I am a foreigner has nothing to do with the conversation. But on that, the difference is I CHOSE to live on Guam. Others were "assigned" here.

  16. I hope there is justice for Aaron. This is an incredible story for people to be aware of. Imagine a bishop not caring about his people, turning his back on them. Unbelievable! Apuron should start looking at Pope Francis and following his example. Hmmmm...wonder what the possibilities could be for Aaron if Rome knew what was going on?
