THE TAGAYTAY TREATMENT...and THE DESTRUCTION OF TWO MORE PRIESTS

3:41PM Link to audio has been fixed

As he left "the country" (as he put it), Fr. John Wadeson, a priest twice accused of child molestation, threatened that he had instructed his lawyer "to proceed judicially against those who will advance this calumny."

Calumny is kind of big word for some of us so I thought I'd provide both a definition and an example. Here's the definition:

And what better example of calumny than Archbishop Apuron's defamation and slander of Fr. Paul Gofigan and a Santa Barbara parishioner, both of whom were personally selected by Archbishop Apuron for punishment under his rod.

Amazingly, he gave this speech in front of thirty members of the clergy at a retreat for the clergy in Tagaytay, Philippines, last October. The clergy had gathered to hear their shepherd speak on spiritual things. After all, it was a retreat, remember! Instead they got Archbishop Apuron's harlequin narration of what sounds like orgiastic homosexual night-long trysts complete with "cases of beer and what not" and even a secret staircase. Can't wait for the movie:
“…and really for disobeying the orders I had given him two years earlier.  I had waited two years to see what would happen because so many complaints were coming in about why is he still working there with him, why is he so intimate…because he had built a stairway up to his room, his room is on the second floor, and he would come in the middle of the night, you know, with cases of beer and what not and stays there to the early morning…” - Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Agana, October, 2013, Tagaytay, Philippines
Listen to it here

So who's next? That's what people are asking. Who will Archbishop Apuron take down next? Some people are speculating that it will be Fr. Michael Crisostomo. They may be right. But it appears the Archbishop is busy discrediting and defaming two other priests: Fr. Efren Adversario and Fr. Matthew Blockley; Fr. Efren, because he stood up to Archbishop Apuron at the meeting with Archbishop Krebs, and Fr. Blockley, who Archbishop Apuron thought was "dead", but has come back to life and knows where the skeletons from the 90's are hidden.

And because Fr. Efren stayed with Fr. Blockley in Manila this past year while caring for his mother, Archbishop Apuron is suggesting the same thing about them that he did with Fr. Paul and the Santa Barbara parishioner. None of it is true, but as we have come to expect from Archbishop Apuron, it doesn't need to be.

When will it end?

P.S. I was thinking of calling Dan Brown to see if he wanted to write another deleterious work of fiction about the Catholic Church, but the problem is...all this is true.

  2. Tim, please reload the sound clip immediately. It won't play and everyone would like to hear, first hand, the filth that comes from the mouth of Archbishop Anthony Apuron.

  3. I need to go to confession for thinking up all sorts of angry and mean thoughts about Anthony BURNING IN HELL (he does NOT DESERVE TO BE CALLED ARCHBISHOP). Pray for me please. He is such a LIAR. He will see hell on earth after everything he has done to Father Paul, Msgr. James, and who is next, Father Mike?! Those 3 are the most beloved, most caring, most loving, most generous, most down-to-earth, most forgiving, most ADORED clergy on this island (as well as Fr. Eric, can't forget about him, now talk about who SHOULD have been Archbishop). Anthony has already LOST this war. He threw in the towel when he threw his HATE and BLOOD DRIPPING LIES on these fine priests. They and their families and friends and parishioners will NOT be bullied by Satan!

  7. HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! Archbishop Apuron, why would you speak these words in front of his fellow priest? Where is your evidence that these acts indeed happened? True or not, it was not your place to discuss this among Fr. Paul's peers. YOU WERE THE ARCHBISHOP AND THERE SHOULD BE SOME CODE OF CONFIDENTIALITY ON YOUR PART. SHAME ON YOU!

Come on Anonymous July 29, 2014 at 2:45 PM - listen again...what idiot can babble on that besides Tony Baloney. Not even Rich Little could impersonate that psycho-babble stupidity. Tony make George Bush look like a Rhodes Scholar.
      Yep - it's real ... R E A L S A D.
What a spiritual failure of biblical proportions!

    4. Oh please. Of course that's him. Is that all you've got the "wasn't me" excuse? Tony Apuron (title now removed in my heart) is a destructive force of nature being led by evil thoughts and pursuits. He has lost the confidence of his flock and is not a true Sheppard. Step down now.

    3. How about dropping his decree of removal and restoring him as pastor. There was no apology because there was no action. Apuron slandered him in front of the clergy and Gofigan asked him to apologize in front of the clergy. Apuron did not. So he says I'm sorry for breaking your window, but then tells Gofigan go fix your own damn window.

      RESIGN!!!!
That's what he should do. "I'm sorry" for slandering your name, ruining your repution, firing you, crushing you, and everything else? And I'm sorry is okay? Not if you are the archbishop it's not. Get a clue. You can buy one at the Yona theme park.

OK. I will no longer be respectful to that man again. I went over the edge last year and decided his office warranted that I should respect him. But after hearing this I can no longer call him Arch... . He is like a school bully. Too chicken sh!+ to approach Fr Paul with questions, so instead he defames Fr Paul in fornt of his fellow priests. Tony Baloney - what on earth did you expect to gain by trying to tear down this servant of God?
You are most likely mentally ill, and I suggest the Nuncio look into calling in a psychologist, because this Apuron beast could be a danger to the island faithful. He has certainly proven he is a danger to his own sons, his priests.
Tony, your voice is gone, you look like a fool in that over-sized green miter you have been wearing lately, and most people on Guam now hate you violently. Go to wherever Fr John is at and live out the rest of your life in kiko narvana and let us start rebuilding our Church with real leaders like Fr Paul, Fr Mike, and Monsignor James. Please take kiko-David C and kiko-Adrian C with you. Adios three idiots!

  14. No priest is safe with the arch on his vindictive path. Hearing his comments at the PI retreat is appalling. How can anyone support the arch if this is how he behaves at a retreat? He has no integrity, does not deserve to be an archbishop, and should be removed.

Arch's singing is not pleasant to the ears. Let us add this to the list of truths that must be proclaimed. We cannot lie anymore! Please!

  24. Words of Wisdom from Pope Francis (Source: Catholic News Service)

"When a priest disagrees with his bishop or when bishops disagree with each other, they must air their differences -- even loudly -- but never talk behind each other's backs". Pope Francis told the group of bishops and priests. "Say it to his face. You're a man, so if you have something against your bishop, go and tell him. There may be consequences, but pick up your cross, be a man!"

But, if your Archbishop decides to be coward and does not listen or talk to you, or even worse attacks you...then be a man and stand up against him in the name of truth, justice and God!

    2. Anonymous (July 30, 2014 at 2:54 AM), also from the same article: "A man who is alone ends up bitter, not fruitful, and he gossips about others," the pope said July 26 during a meeting with 123 priests working in the Diocese of Caserta and 19 bishops from Italy's Campania region.

Maybe this explains why our Archbishop "gossips about others" as he did in Tagaytay …

  25. Priests should have good friends as it enables the growth of a healthy spiritual life.unfortunately many of the problems on Guam and Saipan are the result of the careless practices of archbishop Apuron and former bishop camacho. The pacific region is in a crisis of leadership because of how they have governed the local churches.

    1. We, Guam, apologize for the injustices done unto you Pale' Matt. Rest assured, you are not alone. MANY other fellow priests would like to speak out. I am sure the time will come when they will or just succumb to being STATUS QUO in their Service as a Priest. It takes guts for you to put your name to the posting. In time, we all will be more vocal and let the 3 Hillbilly goats know where they truly stand. Stand for long they will not!

    2. Thank you. No need to worry about me. I survived because I have good family and many close friends. I'm just very saddened that His Excellemcy has once again manifested his vindictive words against me and a priest of Guam. However, I'm just happy I'm surrounded by true friends. Archbishop does not have many friends around him he has only opportunists.

    3. In fairness to my brother priests it is much harder for them to speak as I do. You see everything was done to me so I'm free to talk. If you have 100 bullets and you fire one you have only 99 left. Power authority should always be felt and never used. Because when you use power to destroy you only show how weak your power is.

  26. After listening to Tony Apuron's recording I can conclude two things. First the recording is Tony's voice and second Tony concluded homosexual activities without evidence. Tony I see you with Quitugua and Cristobal. Are you having homosexual activities with them? Not to mention Dominic Kim. Homosexuality seems to be in your mind at all times. Are you gay?

What was the purpose of the airing out of Guam's dirty laundry in Manila?Doesn't the Archbshop know that by doing so he appears not to be a good parent? Where were you while all this was happening, You are the Leader, you take care of it. We are in the business of saving souls. not selling them. I will continue to pray for a positive outcome for all parties concerned.
