  2. So the completion of the report could not be completed because the documents were confiscated from the cemetery? Trust no one...........How do we know that the Bon Fire did not include some documents from the cemetery to make the Msgr look bad? Hmm...sumsing is so wong here.

I wouldn't trust what is said in the Umatuna should things flare up. No siree... when documents are confiscated who is to say it is not tampered wtih! No,no,no, this is not right! I see the work of people who would do anything now to show that they are in the right.

  3. Signature of Monsignor James' Mother. Heartbreaking. But Archbishop is still smugly saying we will see "when the truth comes out". What the heck is he saying?

  4. To the Leon Guerrero family, my heart goes out to you. I was one of many people that helped Monsignor James with the operation of Cathedral. Every morning we prepared the chapel for mass. After mass, we put things away and have coffee with this group and the priest that said mass. This included Monsignor James. This is the family we had. At times Pale Mike and the Toto group would join us. Some of us moved to other parishes and some of us are stii attending waiting for the right parish to attend. This group was once called the Archbishop's followers. He recognizes us we we attended masses at other parishes. But something happened after he had heart surgery. He now only recognizes his community. As he said he became really close to this community because they prayed for him. What about us? Are our prayers lesser because we are not neo? I don't know why they called your operation a success? They forgot to put your heart back in your body.

    2. Reading this this letter has brought tears to my eyes and sadness to my heart. I have recently come to know this family and they are all good people with loving family values. They do not deserve to be treated this way. To the Benavente and L.G. family: we stand united with you for peace and justice.

    3. I hope our Archbishop thinks before he takes another step! He is really walking on egg shells with his "Flock". Most parishioners are leaving the Cathedral because of his actions and inactions. He desperatly needs to be a real Archbishop and stop listening to these "so called" Church Advisors? Bad Advice for sure and things keep rolling downhill. Soon there will be more Protestants than Catholics on Guam. We can thank him for this accomplishment and it will be something we will are remember about him after he has gone and meets our Lord and Maker.

    4. I had a dream: The Archbishop will be forced to retire. Guam Priests, with the Pope's Blessing, named Monsignor James Benavente as the next Archbishop of Guam. The people of Guam rejoices and order is finally restored to our Catholic Church.

    5. I agree with your dream; Msgr Benavente would be a good candidate for our next bishop/archbishop, or even administrator of the archdiocese. It would be deserving, and a great honor for him and his family. With all due respect, however, let's hold back from giving the Neos "poison food for their evil minds" that we may be lobbying for the monsignor for that position. Should that happen, good; should it not happen, good. The important mission is to get Apuron out! •I apologize if my remark is taken wrongly that I am not in support of Msgr James being our next Shepherd; I am. Msgr. James knows this. They tried to do a similar thing by maligning Fr. Eric Forbes some months ago. •Please, Anon at 11:55PM; I mean no disrespect.

To the Family of Monsignor James my heart felt prayers and empathy To all of you in particular monsignor's mother. I can only imagine the pain and insults this family have suffered. Remain strong in the faith and love for Mother church. And remember at this time Our Lord is with you protecting all those who stand on the side of truth and Justice..

  6. I want to first say that I am not a close friend of Msgr.'s family, but I still stand in solidarity with them and will do all I can as a fellow Catholic, through prayer and through action to support them in defending one of their own. In all this brokenness, I have to say I've never become more Catholic than I have in these past few months since these events have transpired. I've never prayed harder for our Church to prevail. I've never studied harder the laws and rubrics of our faith to strengthen myself against heresy. This tragedy has truly turned me into a soldier for the Mother Church, and even I look at myself in the mirror now and remember how unlikely of a warrior I was prior to July 2014. But truly, I've always loved the Holy Spirit, how it fires people's hearts and I've felt mine ignite. I was there on the steps of the Cathedral to pray with the hundreds of concerned who gathered. I've been reading what's transpired, and yes I've even seen and read what Diana has to say. My vision is clear, and I know we who are here are in the right. We must continue to not only pray but also to act as well as even fight for our convictions, for did not the Lord give us all these human facilities to do His will? May we all continue to be inspired and strengthened throughout this long trial that has befallen our beloved Church.

  7. Could this possibly be the reason the U Matuna first printing was removed sometime in August? Did the Archbishop get spooked by a letter from David Lujan?

    1. David Lujan should always be present now between any meeting between Monsignor James and Archbishop Apuron. No priest must be in a room alone with Archbishop Apuron without a lawyer .

  8. How is it that Msgr. is accused of "financial mismanagement," the collection report in the Cathedral's bulletin shows only a minor decrease, the new administration does not have to pay a much personnel as Msgr. did (since most quit), and now they can't seem to pay the bills.

If Msgr. was so bad at handling the finances would the new administration then not have an easier time keeping things afloat?

Maybe someone can correct me but twenty years seems a long time to have these institutions flourish with such poor management practices.

Maybe things are not what they seem. Maybe they are worried that certain people will not be able to continue to off-set the collection artificially? After all, money is trash so we throw it away in a black trash bag. One can only throw so much away before there is nothing left to trash.

Oh wait! Let's just make things up and trash Msgr. - I don't even have words for the disgust I feel.

  10. Ummm... The difference in the reporting of the collection may not be too obvious as stated in the very sad looking bulletin that is now proudly printed by the Cathedral.

The new admin is still trying to fool all of us into thinking that parishioners are still supportive, even if just monetarily.

A certain deacon, whose name rhymes with "pus," had been "urged" to tithe over 3x of his regular donation amount, to help reflect a lesser decline in the collection!

Remember jucutan taking the Gift Shop's income some time ago, "for the collection," he even accidentally disclosed!!!

So we KNOW that you are still lying New Neo Admin!

Stop yourselves before you bleed out your own monies into your lies, just a suggestion from a NON-Neo, no longer forking out more $ for the. Cathedral, Parishioner

    1. 7:44, I think I know the "deacon" your referring too. I heard that he is now one of the counters for the Sunday collections at the Cathedral with the Arch sister-in-law, and two other Neo. If anyone who still attends the Cathedral Sunday masses it is easy to see that the collections have dropped significantly between July & August by over $5,000.00. If you are wondering where the money for the upcoming fiesta "Na Taotao Tu Mano" is coming from, it's from a Anonymous donor who had been doing donating for many years! I also was informed that even Mass intentions offerings have gone down......!

    2. We have all donated for the up coming Fiesta to help defray the cost of the food. There may be partial donation but the Cathedral needs to fork out some money That is the way the ball bounces. Most of us who donate for this are gone!

    10. @7:06 PM The comment made by 4:22 Pm above is NOT a Lie! The mass that they were referring to was last night's novena mass presided by the AAA, and what was stated is TRUE!. Hardly any people were present.
You are correct that BBMCS sang for the novena mass this evening which Fr. Tom Mcgrath presided over and BBMCS kids were well represented.

  11. My closest personal connection to Msgr. James is that I am a friend of his niece. However, as I lifetime Dededo parishioner, I remember his early days at Santa Barbara.

Anyone remember when Santa Barbara was temporarily housed in the SBS gymnasium? There were two boys who always showed up to Sunday mass in brown monk's robes. Imagine complete silence during mass and hearing a 9-year-old shout:

"Hey Mom! Is that God on the cross?"

"Hey God! What are you doing on that cross?"

It was wrong to laugh but I couldn't help it; it was hilarious! I sure miss those days!

Back in those days, I remember how strong the community was in the church. Village fiestas brought people together. Church-goers would meet at Winchell's for donuts after Sunday mass. Church volunteerism was high. During hardship, neighbors came out to clean the church and help each other rebuild. I remember running into Archbishop Flores and he was happy to sit with my mother and me and just talk. The community was alive and active!

Apuron has received so much community support during his own formation and priesthood, a community he so quickly turned his back on and traded for an NCW community. I hope that Apuron goes back to those more innocent days - before he was swept up in the NCW - and remembers the community that made him.

That community was strong, vibrant, and constantly tended to by Archbishop Flores.

The NCW mantra that the future church is the small community is centrally flawed, as pointed out during in the letter from the family of Msgr. James. Catholic means universal and broad.

We already had our community back then. It was welcoming, in line with the Church, and vibrant.

Your NCW community is small and selective and requires that you become a servant of Kiko, who very publicly disobeys the Pope and the liturgies of the Catholic Church.

    ---

After several days of commentary, it would great if these comments were printed out and delivered to Archbishop. He is fond of testimonies. Let's give him some.

I like the idea of testimonies, when used at the right place and for the right purpose. But they do not help in our situation, even though it is obvious that this is the classic fall back for all kikos when they are challenged on the problems in the ncw.

Well, here is another testimony for the Archbishop to consider:
THE NEO RUINED MY LIFE. My family disowned me, rather I was forced to disown them. I worried about things that were never a worry before. The Neo drained my financial resources. The Neo controlled every aspect of my daily living.

That's my testimony, short and not-so-sweet. My name says it all, I am faithfully...
Glad to be Back in Holy Mother Church!

  14. Monsignor David C. Quitugua, it has been about 41 days since you took over the Cathedral. Where are your plans on how to resolve the ever growing financial difficulties that is facing our mother church. Your actions against your brother Monsignor James and the hostile takeover of the administration of Cathedral caused most of the parishioners out of our parish. Any dummy can foresee this was coming. You have to understand that we are not neo. We don't want to be neo. The infusion of the neo community to make up for the outgoing parishioners is sickening. I don't want to hear about peoples problems. I just want to pray to God. My problems are my business. My problems are answered through my prayers. I don't need a community to hear me. God hears me.
I inherited my culture. I grew up with Novenas every Tuesday that was said at different homes in the neighborhood. Sunday mass with my family was mandatory. I attended Catholic schools from first grade through high school. I also graduated from a Catholic University. I grew up with a firm believe in my Catholic faith. I respected bishops Baumgartner, Olano and Flores. They carried their title with reverence. I looked up to them with awe. They were our Catholic leaders. They believed in one Catholic Church.
Then in July 26 you came in with Adrian and your idol Apuron and divided us. Your actions against Monsignor James and the staff was very irreverent. How can I look at you and your neo bishop and respect you. You showed the Catholics of Guam that you are just ordinary man who succumbed to the evils of the world. I hold you, Adrian and your archbishop accountable for our church. You hold the title of Monsignor, live up to your responsibilities. Fix our church. If you can't then resign from your title and move out of Cathedral.

  16. The giftshop is definitely closing. How sad! It would have been open for 15 years as the Cathedral-Basilica Gift Shop by the end of 2014.

It is closing because the NewNeo Admin do not feel that the ministry served by the shop is essential. But most of all, they are closing because it did not prove to be a money maker for them.

That is where they totally failed to see the true purpose of this Gift Shop to begin with. .. All those NeoCancers care about is money!
