THE AGANA INDULGENCE. LUTHER REVISITED?

As we know, one of the issues which precipitated the Protestant Reformation was the misuse of indulgences. And while we will not say that the plenary indulgence offered as part of Agana's 50th anniversary as a diocese is a misuse of an indulgence, we ARE saying that any attempt to frame this indulgence as a unique or rare opportunity to gain a plenary indulgence is in fact a misuse of indulgences and an ABUSE of the faithful.

Indulgences, plenary and partial, are always available to the faithful. Sadly, since our pastors say little about them, most of us are unaware of this gift from the Church. And, since most of us know so little about indulgences, we become susceptible to the kind of current hype surrounding the Agana indulgence, which (in light of recent events) has the air of the same kind of fundraiser that raised Luther's ire.

(No, there is no "charge" for the indulgence. But keeping the power on appears to depend now on getting bodies to the Cathedral who will put money in baskets.)

Lest you think that you can only gain a plenary indulgence when the bishop says so, see the authorized English version of the Enchiridion of Indulgences issued by the Sacred Apostolic Penitentiary. For an easier to read summary, read this article at Catholic Online.

Also, the normal corequisites for obtaining an indulgence - the reception of sacramental confession and Holy Communion, and prayers for the intention of the pope, do NOT have to be received or performed at the Cathedral. Read APOSTOLIC PENITENTIARY: THE GIFT OF THE INDULGENCE to learn more.

However, if you are into the kind of penances you get from neo-priests, as the following letter describes, have at it. Maybe coughing up a few coins in return for absolution would be easier.

  1. Many cases like the above letter involving NCW priests making very unreasonable demands on people inside the confession. Penances range from demanding people attend NCW meetings to the asking for money inside the confession for donations as a part of the penance. Very unreasonable demands are being made to the point people are not attending the sacrament. Archbishop Apuron was informed of this practice with the NCW presbyters but allows this abuse of the sacrament.

  2. I am not sure why a priest would want ANY type of "compensation" whether it be attending a NCW recruitment party or even money.

Our "payment" for absolution is our Act(s) of Contrition and usually, prayer for forgiveness and mercy. Just as yesterday's Gospel (LK 17:11-19) of the 10 with leprosy asked for mercy (pity), we do so in the privacy of The Right of Reconciliation. To demand attendance or money is just outright out of the norm.

Yes, if AAA doesn't not say anything to the Priests within the Diocese, then his silence is approval in itself. How sad. I would do exactly what this person did and go to another priest. How interesting, today, I can observe the first 2 minutes of the action(s) of a priest and can already tell if he is a Neo-Priest or not. My children are also recognizing this by how they are being spoken to by them. The so called authority they have over others, as they see it, clearly shows. The NEO Priest, for the most part, do not ask, they demand or imply it is obligatory. Sorry Neo Priests, we are educating our children to recognized the parameters set for in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and of Penance. Most of our education is not just coming from Canon Law, it is coming from Priests that are local who are NOT NEO and those from off-island. We do this as our sanity check to ensure that the doctrines and standards set forth in our CCC, Dogma, Church Doctrines, and Statutes within Canon Law are not being compromised.

We MUST stay alert and educated. Not just for us, but for our future generations as well. Parents, educate yourselves, arm yourselves with the TRUTH. If you do not understand or know it, see what a Non-Neo Priest would have to say. They are trustworthy.

My wife and I continue to educate myself daily and ensure my children stay updated as well. We do so with other families within our Parish and those who we meet up with for any type of Catholic Faithful Function.

There is a Diocese political and financial war going on here, we are also in a grave spiritual war and must be vigilant. We all need to stay alert and don't let our guard down.

  3. Is all of this surprising, coming from the administration of our lapsed bishop?
Certainly not, if you can allow for the deviations of "kikko's Gospel", and its imposition on the good people of this Archdiocese.
If you can lie about everything and its contrary, if you can build walls around the faithfuls, then you can certainly allow for these dangerous practices.
    Only one goal here, moneeeeeey!!!!
    Sickening.

  5. Do not go to presbyters, especially Jucutan, who has been known to give penance such as the one contained in the letter above.

Fulfill this sacrament only with real priests, not NEO-produced posers.

Sadly, this will derail a lot of Catholics that are at a crossroads right now. We pray that they do not leave the Catholic Church all together. That is the Neo's prerogative, to drive away real Catholics, so that they can have it all! Money, power, and more money.

Well, now, that a lot of people's made aware of your deception and evil ways, they are no longer opening their wallets and giving you their money, Apuron and NeoCancers.

We are not clergy, but we know not to hold indulgences and absolution hostage for your evil cause. God is not sleeping. That is why your demonic acts are revealed all the time, not even in this blog. We know the details, even outside the internet and are aware of them.
