CRISTOBAL: "WE WILL CALL YOU."

John Toves unable to meet with archbishop

Guam - He came to Guam to confront the archbishop, but things didn't go exactly as planned for John Toves. It was two weeks ago Toves called KUAM Radio, accusing Archbishop Anthony Apuron of sexually molesting his relative in the early 1980s.

They are allegations the archbishop has vehemently denied and in statement with KUAM News last Friday he planned to file a defamation lawsuit.

Despite the archbishop's plans to file a defamation lawsuit, Toves isn't backing down. Thursday morning he went to the chancery to confront the archbishop, instead he was met by Father Adrian Cristobal, who said, "Actually, the archbishop is not available today he is fully booked so he is not able to take any appointments today so do you have a contact we can take?" Toves responded by saying, "Why don't I just make the appointment now?", to which the priest said, "We will call you."

  2. What a joke Deacon Claros! How can he say he is not biased in one breath, and then in another, say we will put an end to all this? What he is doing is a farce, and we all know it. This interview reeks of contradictions, incompetencies, misplaced (and blind) loyalties, and arrogance. But what else is new?

  3. With this very public example that the Archdiocese will not handle any allegations with the respect and due diligence required -- now is the time to demand that the Papal Nuncio step in and provide the leadership and compassion to begin healing our Catholic church on Guam.

  4. Wow, larry, you tell the world publicly how you look to asa as you're father? (notice I didn't address him as AAA because he is such a disgrace to the true Catholics) And how you promised to be obedient to him, and you say your not biased? You just made it look worse for the board and for asa. Shows how inexperienced you are. Now we need YOU to step down too! Watch out your next to get fired!

And wheres david? Obviously he has nothing to say, because deep down inside, he knows what you kikonuts are doing is all wrong. Come on, david. We know your better than all of them. Such a shame that you put yourself in their category wonder how you family feels about you now. You are all taimamalao! How can you show your pitiful face in public knowing what you do to your brothers in Christ?

  5. Mr. John Toves should visit Dededo tomorrow. Word is AAA will celebrate their festal mass...

    2. According to the schedule published in the 30 November 2014 issue of the U Matuna Si Yu'os, Msgr. David C. Quitugua — not the Archbishop — will be celebrating the 4:30PM Festal Mass at Sta. Barbara Catholic Church.

Of course, that could be a ploy to keep AAA's participation under wraps; but the only way to know for sure is to show up.

    3. Although Msgr. David Quitugua is on the schedule, we were told that AAA will be the main celebrant. It's a disconcerting that we have to be in the same mass with a man who I've lost total respect for. He should not even bother to visit the parishes, let alone Santa Barbara. He's caused so much pain and discord in our parish, and he's not done yet. We hear that we are going to inherent one the newly ordained NCW priests. WE DON'T WANT HIM or any other NCW PRIEST!!! AAA - do what is RIGHT. Step down from your position already. Don't you see the harm you are causing?

    4. Remember the archbishop returned to Guam one week early, probably due to the accusation. Probably that's why Msgr. David C. Quitugua was scheduled to officiate at Santa Barbara. Now that the archbishop is back perhaps he wishes to take his usual place. Anonymous 9:36, I agree with you. I also think Msgr. David C. Quitugua is NCW in name only to please the archbishop with whom he works so closely. But I sympathize because he's between a rock and a hard place because he took a vow of obedience. If he didn't "obey" he would probably join Fr. Paul and Msgr. James at St. Anthony's.

    5. Msgr David is in the neo because he is a spineless ninny.

    6. David has a community. He is one of the original NCW. He is doing what is best for him, not for the Catholics he serves.

    8. Puzzled about Monsignor David's silence absence. May be he knows something is wrong. In fact I suspect David knows the real truth?????

    9. Anonymous 7:14 p.m., I'd like to see Msgr. David C. Quitugua dance around the "altar." I imagine that would be a memorable sight. I agree Anonymous 5:52 p.m. that David C. is a wimp.

    10. Quitugua DOES know, which is why he's been silent. And his threatening to use the law against John Toves will return to haunt him.

    11. Believe you are right Tim.

    12. David can't dance around the altar. Just not enough energy. Needs Geritol for those in the valley of fatigue. Lazy bones. BTW, yes he does know.

  7. Whoa!! It is obvious that the Chancery have no clue on how to handle the media.

Interview of the Official in charge of Sexual abuse investigation, and the guy cannot even dress properly and even wear his collar.
During the interview the poor man contradicts his previous statements at least six times.
The journalists seemed incredulous that somebody could be that unprepared.

We are investigating, but we already met. These are grave accusations, but basically we do not need to look into it. I am impartial, but I think the Archbishop who is my leader and my role model is innocent.
We have not made a decision, but these accusations are unfounded and we will release a statement very soon.
The poor man is all over the board....left to right, up and down and sideways.
Body language goes from resolved to nervous, to defensive back to aggressive and again unsettled.
Perfect case study for a 1st year student of police interview.....
    Oh the lies, the lies......

  9. I sort of feel bad for the guy. I don't think he was given very clear instructions on how to spin this.

  11. This guy is a farce. Archdioceses across the nation should use this as a training video to show other review boards how NOT to handle reports of abuse!

  12. Unbelievable poor standard of education this deacon has. Where did he train rms. Certainly no media training and the number of times he contradicts himself is so obvious to the listener. Makes one suspect something is seriously wrong .

  14. This happening after the Wadeson case makes it very difficult to believe Tony Apuron in anything he says.

  15. Larry,
You would have helped the cause of your boss AAA better if you did not say anything at all. The least you could have done knowing that AAA is your boss, & buddy in the NCW club is to recuse yourself from this responsibility as you cannot possibly make an impartial opinion on this very important accusation asainst AAA. It is very evident from your interrview that you have already judged the case and pronounced AAA innocent, you have also kicked any potential victims to the curb in making this judgement. We look to you leaders of the Church to guard the spiritual well being of the members, and you admonish us against disobeying the laws of God against what is true, yet there is no sense of accountability for what the truth is in what you leaders practice, especially since there appears to be cover up taking place. For the Love of God, Let our Spiritual Leader, Our shepherd face the people he is leading and tell us the truth... Why is he so quiet ?
