WE HAVE HEARD...

...that Mt. Carmel School students are forbidden by the pastor of Mt. Carmel Church to step on church property or go into the church. The reason reportedly given by the pastor of the church is that the school and the church are separate entities. The pastor is Fr. Alberto.

Can someone clarify as to whether this is true or not. You can post here or if reach me via email at junglewatch.info@gmail.com

  1. Possibly true due to the fact that it is no longer under the leadership School Sisters of Notre Dame. Quite odd that the school still walks during with other Catholic Schools during the Dec 8th procession and religion is still being taught there.

Could it be that it is no longer considered a parochial school? Probably punishing the students because MAYBE children of mission families are not allowed to get freebie tuitions.

    1. More church property being given by NEO Cult Presbyter Anthony Sablan Apuron to his puppet master Anti-Christ KIKO..... You all now see that this man has sold his soul to the devil....Slither away all you Evil NCW Cult Leaders and be gone from this Island. To the world, take heed and learn from this as this too will happen to you when your shepherd's greed takes over his spirituality to lead.

    3. 8.54am. Your grandmother needs to get on her knees place a rosary in her hands crawl down the aile of cathedral basilica on her knees in prayer. This is a suitable penance. But if your grandmother is in poor health she may be excused to the crawling. Just kneel in one place pray rosary.

  2. This is still to be verified, of course, but if true, it is the Mt. Everest of Absurdity and Stupidity!
Is the Church not for everyone? And how can you go to the Church if you cannot go on Church
property? How about students from other schools, people from businesses which are, by definition, also separate entities? And who, then, can go to Church?

  5. They should contact Michael Philips since he's the one who's kept the school open for several years already.

  6. I say it's a rule that the School has implemented due to certain issues or problems to deal with no adult supervision the School does have mass in the parish. Even though the School is a separate entity from the parish. I does not mean father Alberto does not allow students the right to enter the holy sanctuary of the church. The students have a right to the church but the must be accompanied by an adult due to issue of the child's behavior in the sanctuary so as a student and so believes in the one holy catholic and apostolic church and does not believe the blasphemy of the ncw. I say father Alberto is not at fault neither is mount carmel catholic school

    1. I always have a problem with that way of dealing with an issue...why not just TEACH proper behavior to the kids and let them know what's expected of them when in the church? Teach, model, re-teach if necessary. Why punish ALL the kids for the behavior of a few?
If there is no adult around to escort them into the church when they feel the desire, then we have lost that opportunity for the kid to feel comfortable in the church.

    2. Saying that students have a right to use the church then making access to the church difficult amounts to nothing. In fact, you are actually discouraging students from praying for special intentions during their lunch break.
I attended Mount Carmel School and having ready access to the church during my lunch hour helped me through difficult times and brought me closer to God. Why are the current students not allowed the same opportunity I had? SMH

Anonymous (July 22, 2015 at 12:20 PM), thank you very much for your comment. I grew up in a time when visits to the Blessed Sacrament were highly encouraged, so I was bothered by the idea that the pastor would prohibit the MCS students from stepping on church property.

I was discussing this with my family and absolutely nobody else had a problem with what the pastor did. They all cited the "liability issues" of having students being in the church "without adult supervision." They also mentioned some inappropriate things that some of the middle school students might be doing in a deserted church.

I pointed out that our grandchildren walk through the portico of SASVCC to come to me when I pick them up on schooldays, which would not be possible given the move by the Mt. Carmel pastor. They countered by saying there is no fence separating SACS from SASVCC like there is between MCS and the church; therefore my example was not a valid one.

My daughter said that when she was a SACS student, the church was considered "off-limits" outside of the times when the school went there for Mass. Needless to say, I wasn't aware of that restriction then — and probably now. Be that as it may, it saddens me to think that the current MCS students will not have the opportunity that you and I once had, Anonymous at 12:20 PM, to deepen their relationship with God.

  7. thank you anon 5:58. I graduated from Mt Carmel School in 1968, my grandsons also attended and graduated from Mt Carmel School in 2009/2010 . The rule is still the same in 1969, 2009, and today... students are not allowed to enter the Church without adult supervision or permission. SO TIM DON'T TRY TO MAKE AN ISSUE OF THIS RULE.

    1. Really. Then what a terrible rule. Christ says “let the little ones come to me”, and you say “not without parental supervision.” What an insult to Christ. There are so many stories of the saints who as children first developed a deep love for Christ by visiting him privately in the tabernacle. In fact, as children, the nuns in our school encouraged such private visits. No wonder so many of our “Catholic” children on Guam leave the faith as soon as they can.

To bad you don't care enough to "make an issue of this rule.". So I'll do it for you.

    2. Tim, you are so right on this. MC parishioner is so desperate to defend presbyter Alberto that the mission of the Catholic Church is lost in the process. FYI MC parishioner, I graduated from MC way before you and had no problem entering the church to pray because students were trusted and discipline was instilled.

    3. MC Parishioner 10:19,
Please read comments from Anon @ 9:02 and 12:20 and you'll see why some people have a problem with that rule. It should be an issue for all churches who subscribe it..

  9. The "problem is the "Neos" coming into "Our Catholic Churches/properties " & pretending their "Catholics". Go get your own "church/chapel " and we will have no problem. And its all because AAA allowed them too.
