J.R. SAN AUGUSTIN: REQUEST TO APURON TO RESIGN - FULL TEXT

  1. REQUEST TO RESIGN! Archbishop Apuron – Peace, greetings, and salutations.

This is going to be my fourth (4th) formal letter to you – the others dated Dec 30, 2014; April 9, 2015; May 13, 2015 – were all hand-delivered to the Chancery and receipt acknowledged. I choose this venue to deliver this message to you, as received-acknowledged letters don’t seem to produce any effect. So now, I make this PUBLIC APPEAL via a Jungle Watch comment. I am fairly certain this writing will eventually get to you – through “telefon alaihai” - for sure! As well, I am emailing this to you; I do not have fax capability.
My first letter was very fraternal - encouraging you to follow a formula that will lead to address the divide within our Church: (1) Acknowledgement of the errors you had done (“in what you have done, or have failed to do”); (2) True repentance of the same; (3) Return to the flock you had been divinely ordered through your episcopal ordination to shepherd; and (4) Rejoice at the return of our Shepherd, much like the return of the Prodigal Son. Those comments were made “for a peaceful and charitable resolution” of the ills that have infested our Catholic Church. I never got an acknowledgement/reply to this.

My second letter was in response to your Mass of Chrism homily wherein you called for “healing within our Church”. Optimistically, I saw a possible positive step toward true healing and reconciliation. In that letter, I took the role of a “doubting Thomas”, and noted that unless I see positive actions taken by you to address the 17+ areas of the concerns of the Laity which I listed (there have been many more since then), I will not believe that your plea for healing was genuine, but a “clanging cymbal” instead. I never got an acknowledgement/reply to this.

My third letter was occasioned by what I deemed was extremely egregious – your act of preparing a draft letter for the nun (donor) who gave the $2M to pay off the Bank of Guam loan, to sign off that the money was “ab initio” given for the purchase of a seminary (RMS), acknowledged to be a “seminary for the formation of priests in the Neocatechumenal Way”. The donor refused to acknowledge/sign the letter, stating it would not be truthful to do so! I never got an acknowledgement/reply to this.

That was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back! To lie about so many things is one thing, but to ask someone else (especially a religious person) to lie on your behalf is just too much! From that point on, I knew there was no hope for a reversal of your errors. In that letter I personally (not as a member of CCOG) called upon you to submit your resignation as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Agana. (To be continued)

  2. REQUEST FOR RESIGNATON (Continuation). Over the uproar of the Laity surrounding yet more deeds/misdeeds that transpired last week (Sunday, October 1) – not even acknowledging your flock that was outside protesting, by a mere simple blessing to them (they are still your flock, after all); by your lack of humility by opting to emcee your own birthday party; by publicly acknowledging that you authorized the BD organizers to use your “popularity” to enhance the BD fundraising (such humility!); by auctioning off supposedly sacred religious relics; by arranging to have security guards watch over us as if we were a riotous or belligerent group (our protest consisted of signs, praying the Rosary, and singing hymns); by allowing NCW clergy to show us the “thumbs down” sign as they drive into the Hyatt Hotel birthday venue; by not respecting the rights of the disabled (handicapped) free access to the hotel bathroom.

Last week’s events were living proof that Archbishop Apuron is no longer fit to lead the Catholic Faithful in the true way to Christ, and for that…..

I, AND THE THOUSANDS OF CATHOLICS WHO SHARE THESE SAME SENTIMENTS, ARE ONCE AGAIN (PURSUANT TO CANON 212, §§2-3) - GIVING US A RIGHT OF REDRESS - CALLING FOR AND DEMANDING YOUR IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION AS OUR ARCHBISHOP, AS OUR SHEPHERD. BE HUMBLE ENOUGH TO DO THIS – NOT FOR YOUR GOOD OR BENEFIT, NOT FOR THE BENEFIT OF NCW, BUT FOR THE GOOD OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND ITS FAITHFUL IN GUAM. YOU OWE IT TO US!

DO THE RIGHT THING, YOUR EXCELLENCY – RESIGN!

    A member of the Laity,
    Joe R. San Agustin

  1. RETURN. RESTORE. RESIGN.

We're so TIRED of you and your Neo band of hooligans. Make room for a NON-NEO shepherd who can truly be the spiritual leader of our Catholic faithful.

  2. JRSan Agustin, you hit the nail on the head. Actually, 4 times with each letter that you've submitted! It really could not have been written more clearly than this. Thank you for expressing what has been raising my blood pressure with every time the faithful have been ignored by the arch.I echo your sentiments! RESIGN, apuron, RESIGN!
