THE BISHOPS GET A LETTER

Posted by Chuck White

Cardinal Gerhard Müller, Prefect of the Holy See's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, recently wrote a letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church regarding the "New Movements" in the Church. The letter, entitled “Iuvenescit Ecclesia” ("The Church Rejuvenates"), and approved by Pope Francis, discusses the hierarchical and charismatic gifts in the Church as well as the the tension between them, and provides Bishops with eight criteria for discerning the gifts of the New Movements. All eight criteria could be applied to the problems of the Neocatechumenal Way on Guam. Read more.

Hon - professor of theology - "Those who can't do, teach?"

The Catholic Church teaches that it is the "one true Church"
It should be said more clearly that the Roman Catholic Church alone is the true Church...

In the encyclical Mortalium animos of 6 January 1928, Pope Pius XI wrote that "in this one Church of Christ no man can be or remain who does not accept, recognize and obey the authority and supremacy of Peter and his legitimate successors “and quoted the statement of Lactantius:

"The Catholic Church is alone in keeping the true worship.

Accordingly, the Second Vatican Council declared: Whosoever… knowing that the Catholic Church was made necessary by Christ, would refuse to enter or to remain in it, could not be saved.

In the same document, the Council continued: "The Church recognizes that in many ways she is linked with those who, being baptized, are honored with the name of Christian, though they do not profess the faith in its entirety or do not preserve unity of communion with the successor of Peter.

kiko - believes that their practice of attending a Sunday Service once a Month makes them Catholic…
Apuron – unable to find the permission that allows him to sit and feast, thus receiving the fullness of Mass…
Diana – in communion with Pope Francis, resulted from a secret meeting with kiko, who told jersey, who told pius…

Ncw – is a movement within the Church, yet they conduct their worship in a social hall…
The ncw cannot be Catholic if allowed to pick and choose parts of Christ they like, to discard what they don’t, it is our Christian duty is to avoid vice and pursue virtue… The goal of a virtuous life is to become like God…

Pharisees Meaning: separatists (Hebrew: persahin, from parash, “to separate”)
From the very beginning of his ministry kiko and his followers, the Pharisees showed themselves bitter and persistent enemies of our Lord. They could not bear his doctrines, and they sought by every means to destroy his influence among the people.

Heresy from a Greek word signifying… a choice the opinion chosen the sect holding the opinion In the Acts of the Apostles (5:17; 15:5; 24:5, 14; 26:5) it denotes a sect, without reference to its character.
This word also denotes divisions or schisms in the church (1 Cor. 11:19).
In Titus 3:10 a “heretical person” is one who follows his own self-willed “questions,” and who is to be avoided.
Heresies thus came to signify self-chosen doctrines not emanating from God (2 Pet. 2:1).

Sect Greek: hairesis, usually rendered “heresy”, Acts 24:14; 1 Chr. 11:19; Gal. 5:20, etc.), meaning properly “a choice,” then “a chosen manner of life,” and then “a religious party,” as the “sect” of the Sadducees (Acts 5:17), of the Pharisees (15:5), the Nazarenes, i.e., Christians (24:5)

    ME – a regular Catholic
disciple Meaning: a scholar The name disciple was sometimes applied to the followers of John the Baptist (Matt. 9:14), and of the Pharisees (22:16), but principally to the followers of Christ.
A disciple of Christ is one who…
    believes his doctrine
    rests on his sacrifice
    imbibes his spirit
    imitates his example ( Matt. 10:24; Luke 14:26-27, 33; John 6:69).

  3. Chuck thank you, now the question is will Rome use these rubrics? Tai Fai the Hon can give these rubrics to Adrian in committee #1. Adrian will find some WAY to apply the rubrics to CCOG and LFM. LOL.
The Bishop's are ultimately culpable for allowing NCW to spread heresy, division and liturgical abuses. Now that Bishop's have these rubrics who's going to hold them accountable?...The church militant, the laity, concerned & thoughtful Catholics & Catholic bloggers with a passion for the Faith armed with the Truth and the Armor of God.

  4. Interesting how one Camacho brother brags about his sexual exploits, while at the pulpit. He should have 2-3 children. Did he contraception so he doesn't, or did he participate in an abortion? Gabriel Camacho is a fruit of the Way.
Older brother Fr Louis caught giving oral sex to a child. At least he knew contraception was wrong, and you can't get pregnant orally.
At least they don't appear to have turned out like their spiritual mentor Apuron, who preferred prepubescent boys.

    1. Anonymous June 26, 2016 at 6:07 AM - I am thoroughly confused. Are there two Camacho Brothers who are "Presbysters" (spelling)? I am related to them but have been gone a long time and I do not remember who their parents are. Please clarify!

    2. Gabriel Camacho is a Presbyter in training at the NEO Cult Factory. Can't call them Seminarians because this NEO-Cult Leadership at the hill has yet to publish it's formal affiliation to the Vatican University, if it exists.

  5. An interesting article published last week that is worth reading on this topic. There are some issues in the article I don't necessarily agree with like the NCW being theological conservative -socially conservative, yes. I am not sure that most of the bishops know what is really happening within the NCW vs what they are told, and unfortunately Guam has had a bishop controlled by the NCW vs a bishop keeping the NCW in line.

  6. I can hear them now: "NCW is not a movement", therefore not applicable.

No matter -- if forced to comply, they will just twist the meaning to show how they are following the criteria. Misinterpretation is classic with them if the Dianas are an indication-- Case in point: the Dianas' conspiracy theory regarding Tim Rohr's manipulation of all the victims. (How they put all that together from Tim's entries is unbelievable!)

And if that doesn't do it for them, our local church leaders won't hold them accountable to the criteria....or they'll just agree that they are in compliance.

    1. Anonymous June 26, 2016 at 7:00 AM - Like Diana said when I posted a question sometime ago - the NCW - NEOs - is not a branch of the Catholic Church but a part, bringing back people who have strayed. And my argument with her was - If you are a part, then why are you changing the configuration of the Altar - Alter according to Diana - and the distribution of the Body of Christ. No Answer from her but I did not expect any. Of course they are going to say that the "NCW is not a movement", then WHAT ARE THEY! Explanation Please!

    2. Kiko is a genius. In order to control bishops, he had to isolate them. Thus he insisted that the NCW not be classified as a movement, placing him and his NCW under a particular authority in Rome which oversees lay movements.

Instead, he argued that the NCW was nothing more than a different form of CCD or RCIA, thus placing it under the authority of individual bishops, bishops Kiko knew he had a better chance of buying and controlling.

Most bishops, as we have too often seen, are lazy and permanently out to lunch. They are more than happy to turn their duties over to ministers of this and that while they flit about at airports and conferences.

Relative to whether the NCW is Catholic, Pope Francis recently gave the answer directly to Kiko when he reminded him that he has a "charter." That charter is the NCW statute. So long as the NCW operates within it, it has the blessing of the Catholic Church. It departs from the Catholic Church as it departs from its charter. Celebrating the eucharist as they do is a complete departure from that charter.

There is no need for Rome to formally condemn the practice or label the practice heretical, it simply becomes so de facto.

    3. A fine example of this would be Bishop Ricken of the Diocese of Green Bay. To graduate from a parish's religious education program, one can now participate in a semester of NCW indoctrination vs traditional CCD or other activities.

  7. Cardinal Müller's letter is missing something quite significant, and it's an "elephant in the living room". I'm talking about the tendency of most of the "New Movements" to employ severe psychological leveraging and sectarian techniques that trample on what the Church calls the "internal forum", or personal conscience.

    1. Very true. I have investigated about 10 "New Movements" and they all employ psychological leveraging. I do wish the Vatican would recognize this. A few individuals have recognized the problem with individual sects but I have to wonder how many Vatican officials are aware of how widespread the problem is.

  8. There's a great commentary on Iuvenescit Ecclesia on the Pray Tell blog here. Here are some pullquotes:

Why is this document appearing now? What is the need or the problem addressed?
In these last few years a few problems have become very visible in the relations between some movements and the bishops. This had become clear already at the Bishops’ Synod of 1987… but the bishops who brought that up, among them Cardinal Martini of Milan, were rebuffed. Recently, the clash between the Neocatechumenal Way and the Bishops of Japan during the pontificate of Benedict XVI was unprecedented...Francis is clearly aware of this case and others: in his pontificate every time he receives a movements he always cautions and warns them about the danger of sectarism, of creating a parallel church.

    and

There is a very interesting admonition about ordained members of new movements that seek ordination to serve only their movement (par. 22) – a very well-known problem that so far has been officially denied by the Church leadership – and an interesting phrasing about the danger of having the movements creating a “parallel” path in the Church (par. 23). This is something that came up at the 1987 Synod, but no pope before Francis had the courage to talk about.

    1. Church leaders bending to pressure or being politically correct? Things go awry when trying to please people or groups results in "bending" the faith to fit a particular situation. Jesus had a specific gospel to proclaim and did not alter it to fit that other group. It was up to the individual person to accept or reject it.
