PDN: Church revising sex abuse response policy, names coordinator
http://www.guampdn.com/story/news/2016/07/11/guam-church-revising-sex-abuse-response-policy-names-coordinator/86935706/

Arroyo confirmed the revision of the sex abuse response policy, but said the revision was not directly a result of the recent public accusations against Apuron.

He said it is about making sure the best policy is formulated.

“It is to go over the policy, see if there’s revision or update needed. That is being done by the team,” Arroyo told the Pacific Daily News.

Ummmm, let's see now. The policy has not been revised since it was instituted in 2002, EVEN after the USCCB updated its policy to zero tolerance later that same year and the Vatican itself, as recently as 2013, directed Apuron to fix it because it was so deficient, and Apuron did not. And now Arroyo says "nothing to see here." But, oh, yah, he's the same guy who wants us to think that raping little boys is just a "misunderstanding."

WTF

  1. Father Bibi should have never been made the spokesman. He was supposed to have retired when he turned 75. That was 8 years ago. He has been appointed beyond the level of his competence. Why on earth would Hon put him in a position that he cannot handle? I think Hon is using Bibi's niceness thinking that will be a popular move. Hon is all into form, no substance. Bibi should resign for his sake.

  2. So Father Arroyo is 83 years old and he is now the Diocese of Agana's Spokesperson! Oh Wow! In my opinion, I am thinking that he is way too old to make any decisions concerning the modern day ways of conducting investigations and so forth. He is too much connected with the Old Ways of Doing Things that he will be totally lost in today's society. What Was Hon Thinking! Well, I should say, What is Hon Not Thinking! If you think that you can put clergy into positions that they cannot handle to "Take Care of the Guam Catholic Natives", you are mistaken! The Modern Day True Catholic Katolikus ARE WAY AHEAD OF YOU! Catch Up If You Can!

  3. Maybe it's because Bibi is disposable. He can retired at any time, and if any of this blows up, he can saunter off as a man past his prime. If things go well, it's a nice send-off. Either way, no priest with a future would take the job--ever.

Like Hon, Bibi doesn't have the brains or the wherewithal to even guide the process to a just resolution. As they say, no servant can be greater than his master.

  5. Hon, did you really ask BB to say that the revisions are not as a result of the ASA situation? Really!

  6. Oh my, Oh my! Glaucon Jr, at first I was led to agree with you but now that Tim cc'ed Doris, we'll all be learning of Bibi being reassigned or retiring before all this blow up on Hon's watch.

Bibi, I beg you to stay on and DENY, MINIMIZE and BLAME. Afterall, you're the spokesperson for Hon and all who are in denial and still believe this will all go away.

  7. The "policy" is flawed and yet they state , "if" there is a revision or updated needed? Really? Apuron was told to change this policy and he did not. Instead when Deacon Steve warned apuron of the FLAW, Steve was removed. COVERUP OR WHAT!

  8. Did I hear right? Did the Spokesperson actually say the that the revision was NOT(?) as a direct result of the recent public accusations of Apuron? Nevermind that that there were no revisions since 2002. Nevermind that the Vatican ordered it updated 3 years ago to reflect Zero Tolerance? Nevermind that Deacon Martinez said the policies were flawed. Nevermind that Apuron fired Deacon Martinez as SARC shortly after this. Nevermind that several victims have come forward to tell of Apuron's abuses. Nevermind that Bibi has labeled these as "minunderstanding"? Unity? NEVERMIND!

  11. Inquiring minds want to know progress of sexual abuse investigation against Apuron by the Vatican? Wonder if they are basing their investigation on all that the victims have submitted to the vatican and information from JW or the Local media? Is that the reason why none of the victims have been contacted? Do they have sufficient info already? What happened to the sexual assault contact person, Fr. Patrick Castro? IS he or the SARC participating on any of these investigations? Fly on the wall, you gots any info for us?
