FR. KEN CARRIVEAU PULLS A FUNNY ONE!

Posted by Tim

Bill 326 threatens nonprofit institutions (submitted by Ken Carriveau)
I wish to comment on Mr. David Sablan’s statement made in a recent Pacific Daily News article: “Where was Archbishop Hon and the other members of the clergy when the Legislature held public hearings and comment period on the bill? This is a case of fear mongering.” I suggest that it is not a “case of fear mongering,” but rather, as in my case, a matter of following federal guidelines. Confusion over the ban on political activity by tax-exempt organizations has existed ever since it was first imposed by Congress in 1954. CONTINUED

To which I left the following comment:

Seriously, Ken. You mean to tell me that all those years you priests turned your pulpits into podiums to lobby against gambling, you were actually violating IRS rules? And if a ban against churches participating in political activity kept the archdiocese from submitting testimony against Bill 326 then you are then admitting that it is now violating that ban by submitting petitions for the governor to veto the bill? People of Guam. Do you see why we need Bill 326 to become law?

P.S. I'll be back with more

  1. So sad Fr Ken. All that time in the library at UOG and you still can't read?

The guidelines address church participation in endorsing candidates and participating in elections. Commenting on legislation is not banned. The Church can do it directly. And priests don't have to speak only on the personal behalf.

The Church refused to speak out against Bill 326-33 because it was scar d of public opinion. But now it is scared of something worse. And you'll be surprised to know it's not financial ruin!

The Church is now scared because if this law passed many more cases will be revealed. These cases will involve many more church officials and even nuns. This bill will expose all the filthy secrets that were so carefully tucked away in a closet long ago. A closet sealed by money, influence, positions of power, and even threats and blackmail.

So Fr Ken, if you want to find out all those filthy secrets and start to make them right you would support the passage of this bill.
But if you want to continue with this lurid concealment, then by all means speak out now against this bill and save your fellow priests.
BTW- have you got anything to hide?

    1. (Fr.) Ken knows a lot of filthy secrets. When he was still the Catholic superintendent of schools and not yet ordained he told me of 2 priests, now deceased, who had illegitimate children when they were young priests. He said they were told if they kept behaving this way they would not be allowed to remain priests. Nothing about sin. They just didn't want to lose their status.

  2. I have read some pretty dumb opinions letters to the editor but I must admit that one by Fr. Ken was at the top of the list

  3. supporting this legislation has nothing to do with an election campaign. the Church has supported or opposed legislation many times: think of obamacare at the national level, and, as tim mentioned, gambling on the local level. also remember the anti-abortion bill by the late sen elizabeth arriola? i was in high school back then, and the Church was all-in on that one.

so, what's up with this, fr carriveau?
