MORALLY BANKRUPT

Posted by Webster.

Money/Assets/Wealth has hijacked the Catholic Church, her priests, schools, and ministries.

Holiness and Justice are irrelevant.

Children//Child Sex Abuse Victims are expendable.

By recklessly, irresponsibly, and perversely advocating the doom and gloom message of bankruptcy to scare the Catholic faithful into asking the governor to veto the bill, Archbishop Hon and Fr. Jeff have shown the Church to be morally bankrupt.

They lack the Faith, Trust, and Hope in God to guide them to do the right thing during these dark times, a darkness that has been self-inflicted.

Our Church leaders and priests have no one to blame but themselves for forcing the laity, devoted and faithful Catholics, to advocate the lifting of the Statute of Limitations against Child Sex Abuse. They have had almost 50 years to clean up their own act, and despite the clamor and cries of the laity and victims, they chose to arrogantly ignore them, until our courageous Senators passed Bill 326-33.

So, in an insidious and treacherous attempt to prevent the bill from becoming into law, they have filed for Bankruptcy in the Court of God.

The Church in Guam has SOLD her SOUL to save her earthly MONEY/ASSETS/WEALTH.

  1. Great point Webster.

Truly our Church is already bankrupt.

Time for a spiritual chapter 11 to reorganize our moral assets.

  2. Very Perceptive Insight Indeed. In fact you are right on the money target. It is a very sad state of affairs. I just can't get my head around not supporting the bill when so much absolute horror has happened to altar boys. Yes altar boys!! Not to mention who else has been violated over the years.

  3. Moral bankrupcy was first. If it wasn't, they would need to be so worried now! Money with money arranges, but moral...They should think in eternal life!

    3. Anonymous at 2:47 AM, actually "money" in and of itself is nothing. What Scripture tells us is that "The LOVE OF MONEY is the root of all evils" (1 Timothy 6:10 RSV-CE).

Interestingly, while most people misquote that passage, they also ignore the rest of that particular verse — "it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs."

As this post astutely points out — The LOVE OF Money/Wealth/Assets has highjacked the Catholic Church, her priests, schools and ministries, has led them away from the faith and has brought the Soul of the Church in Guam to MORAL BANKRUPTCY.

I believe that the press conference scheduled for today (20 September) 11 o'clock will demonstrate proof positive of that Moral Bankruptcy.

  11. We are reaching the pinnacle of the difficult times in our local church. The divisions and battle lines are clearly drawn. The tension is palpable. It feels as if everything can tear apart at any moment. This is precisely when we need to place our trust in God, pray for one another, and speak the truth.

    1. Andrew, I have faith that God will see us through this. The evil means that are being used to justify the ends is worrisome. I pray extra hard that the truth is told to our children who now pander for signatures. Truth was not told to some clergy ... and the laity.

  13. It would be interesting to see a complete inventory of church assets
to include stock holdings(e.g.Gannett, Bank of Guam), private properties donated to the church, etc. Land Management should have a
full listing of all these properties. Then we could fully understand
how much the church stands to lose. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!

  14. Right on target. Thank you Webster for this honest and truthful post. The Church has been hiding and hoarding way too long and it's time to clean up this mess and God is using his faithful to do just that. It is always in Gods time and the time has come.

  15. Church Bankruptcy? PROVE IT?
    .
It's like a cancer patient at stage 4 has the choice to listen, and obey whatever his/her dr. who's reached the end of all their trainings and know hows then finally finds a way to get they're patient to come to grips with reality facing the facts of death. Some patients will settle for this and some has gone about living their old ways no giving GOD A CHANCE to present them a miracle. Where is your Trust in God!
    .
So, to Bankruptcy? I say, deal with the problems occurring from the past and present time-THE VICTIMS. Archbishop Hon / Fr. Jeff "BANKRUPTCY"--REALLY? You question the works of God. "BANKRUPTCY"--You should deal with this when you cross that bridge, not before and "BANKRUPTCY" should not be a question.
    .
Don't compare Guam to any other place. It's like telling a blind person you'll never see. And what did Jesus do to the blind man? You're scared, faithless, and a Peter.

  16. A total and complete fiasco. Open your eyes people, this is the fruits of the NCW. Let them into your church and this is what you end up with. Maybe the NCW has something to hide, that will be revealed if this bill is allowed to pass...

What is so sad is the Church leadership's Godless attachment to money, money, money. As Webster points out, our local Church leadership is totally bankrupt. They have reached absolute moral poverty.

In all their exhortations and fear mongering, have you ever heard them say "Let us pray and put this is the hands of God"? No call for prayers or quiet reflection. Just sign the petition or hand the death certificate to FD, for they will surely close.

Sounds like the same logic employed by abortion clinics. A mother has a child in her womb, and tests show that the baby will have downs syndrome.
So the doctor advises the mother that to bring the baby into this world will mean great pain and suffering. It will be more compassionate for the poor child, and easier for the mother and family to do the only sensible thing...abort the baby.

It is a faithless decision, and also a decision that neglects the rights of the baby. And that's how I see this current issue in our Church.

To have a baby with a medical abnormality takes great faith. It will be a difficult road, filled with lots of unknowns. But the Church demands that we take that leap of faith, and place it all in God's hands. We do it not because it is right for the family, or society (which may be burdened with the cost of the child). We keep the baby because it is right for the baby, and right by God.

How could our Church throw out the victims of sexual abuse, merely because it has the potential to be tough? How could our spiritual leaders be so devoid of faith? Instead of boldly standing up and saying we will do what is right, no matter the cost, the Church resorts to our lust for money. They make an appeal to our temporal sense, and abandon all moral consideration.

So a question needs to be asked of our Church on Guam and of our faithful -

    WHERE IS OUR FAITH?
